Asheville’s elitist sons thought they safely buried the evidence of their heinous crime deep in the Oakley Woods. How wrong they were. It only took one fateful Halloween night for two Southside sworn enemies to stumble onto their dangerous secret. The nightly events that follow will change their lives forever.
Chase Dixon... He’s the boy who lives to torment me. For the past five years he’s made sure to turn everyone against me. Because of him I’m considered Asheville High’s favorite outcast. All because I broke Southside’s number one rule—don’t be a rat. But I don’t regret what I’ve done. Not by a long shot. If the price I have to pay for doing the right thing is to bear Chase’s merciless wrath then so be it. I’d rather have his hate than his apathy anyway.
Ava Bailey... She used to be my best friend—my fucking first love. Then she ruined it by opening her big beautiful mouth to the cops. She took something from me. Something she can’t give back. Living in the Southside, she should have known better than to steal what was rightfully mine. Ava has to pay for her treachery. And I’ll enjoy every minute of getting my pound of flesh.
* Fear No Evil is a 20k novella and a standalone centered around brand new characters. * However, The Society series has an entwining subplot, therefore expect some spoilers from previous books in this series to be discussed. * Recommended 18+ due to mature language and situations.

"There is no beauty in sadness. No honor in suffering. No growth in fear. No relief in hate. It's just a waste of perfectly good happiness."-Katerina Stoykova Klemer
"Fear no Evil" is Chase and Ava's story!!! Two best friends that they had turned into enemies... Now, you are wondering how these two are connecting with the rest of the series, but if you will read it, you will understand... Chase's name was mentioned to the second book of the series and this novella was a real treat!!! A treat that it was amazing as it was, but that we would love to read a bigger version of it!!!
"If hate is all I have to give, take it all away from me. I suffocate in it..."
Ava and Chase used to be best friends and they were on the path to become something more, when Ava did the unspeakable!!! Now, years later, Ava had become the outcast, because Chase is determined to make her pay for daring to open her mouth and take something that rightfully belonged to him... But Ava, even though she's hurting by every hurtful thing that Chase is throwing her way, she never stopped caring for him... And now, after so much time, they are in each other's vicinity and what will happen when the old feelings will surface for both of them???
"We had been thick as thieves growing up. Now he was nothing but my tormentor. My bully."{Ava}
"I fucking trusted her with my heart. That is until she crushed it."{Chase}
I adore the Society world, even though I had fallen a little behind on reading these books!!! Ivy is one hell of a storyteller and this series is laced with mystery, darkness and a crazy society that you don't know what will do next... Chase and Ava were just the icing on the top... I just need more and more of this addictive world!!!
"You ruined it... I needed to hate you. Why couldn't you just let me hate you?" ... "ate me all you want, Chase. Just love me, too."
I loved this short novella I am Crazy about this society series, it has instantly become one of my favourites. Chase and Ava were a real treat. I don't know what it is about bully romances but I love them. I don't like bullys but fiction is the best. Now I am curious how the next society book will play I think colt is up next!
this was a cute quick read but i didnt really find it at all 'necessary' to the plot. whatever was said in the 200 pages could have been summarised into the next book. there was so much missing in this book. i finally get why my teachers say "show dont tell" because this book was definitely just tell. there were moments where ava was like "my bully". i wish i got to see that rather than hear it. none of the characters really spoke to me either. WHY WAS THERE NO ANGST OR TENSION considering it is a bully romance. overall this book had so much potential that went to waste. THE CLICHE QUOTES HAD ME ROLLING.
"and ava bailey is my weakness." "the only boy i loved more than life itself." "hate me all you want, chase. just love me, too." "i’ll break you first. i promise," "you shouldn’t have let me in, baby. now you belong to me." "ava is a dream come true and my worst nightmare come to fruition." "don’t love me, ava. i need you not to love me." "if hate is all i have to give, take it all away from me. i suffocate in it" "hate me all you want. just let me love you. like i’ve always have." "how can i pretend to hate her, when all i want is to hear her say she loves me again?" "but no one, i mean no one will get a tear from you ever again. on my life, baby. it ends today." "you were made for me just as i was made for you." "and ill spend the rest of my life showing you how much i love you. because i do love you, ava. i always have."
Ivy Fox!!! How could you do me like that??? I want more Chase & Ava!! More !!!
Chase is an asshole (Surprise - I fell for another one) but I really want to read his s ‘younger him’ story.
Ava she’s so sweet, and to be honest I wanted her to put up more of a fight, but I think I’m the end she just couldn’t take Chase not understanding that she would live him forever. And in his defence I feel Like he did what he did to keep her safe.
Ugh he was an absolute asshole but I loved him so much!!
Imma be over hear sulking cos it was so short. (Yes I’m aware it’s a novella but I don’t care 😤)
For a novella, it has an exceptional storyline but I can repeat whatever happened in this in literally a handful of sentences.
Chase's book coincides with the timeline followed in East's , just around Halloween & I never expected that Chase Dixon would get a book of his own, albeit a short one.
Would've liked this a lot more if it were full-length though, since both leads seemed pretty interesting. Plus the
I think I actually loved it more than the other books. Something about these characters just clicked for me. I can’t wait to see what the next book has to offer. They so far have each had a different type of relationship and I’m dying to know more about The Society.
I did not like Chase, at all. As soon as we knew about his father, I knew exactly where this book was going. Still not sure why Easton was there at all, would have made more since if it was Lincoln but whatever. Now we know what happened that night.
Oh boy, where do I even begin? Fear No Evil felt like an unnecessary pit stop in The Society series, delaying the answers we’re all dying for in book three. I wanted to skip it, but with how it’s framed as “important to the next book’s development,” I reluctantly dove in—and honestly, I regret it. This novella focuses on Ava and Chase. If you don’t remember them, you’re not alone—Chase was mentioned exactly once at the very end of Book 2. With such little setup, it was hard to care about these two. Their backstory is a classic "childhood best friends turned enemies" trope. Both came from the same trailer park, but while Chase is treated like royalty, Ava is branded a pariah. As kids, Ava called the cops to save Chase from his abusive father, and instead of thanking her, he turned on her, blaming her for taking his revenge away. Cue years of bullying and animosity. As a bully romance, this novella fell flat. The dynamic between Ava and Chase lacked any real tension, and their interactions felt more like a rehash of tired tropes than an engaging story. On top of that, the writing leaned heavily on clichés—so much so that I found myself rolling my eyes from start to finish. It should get a reward for ‘How much cliche you can fit in 100 pages’ It was exhausting, and not in a good way. What frustrated me the most was how pointless the story felt. Everything revealed here could’ve been condensed into a couple of pages in book two or three, and extra POV and done. Instead, we’re dragged through a drawn-out explanation of things we already knew or could’ve easily guessed. It felt like filler, and by the end, I was questioning why it even needed to exist. Adding to my disappointment was the disconnect from the main plot. This series is called The Society, yet this novella had nothing to do with it. No secret society, no intrigue, just a side story that felt completely out of place. In the end, this novella was exactly what I feared—a filler that stretched the series unnecessarily. The potential was there, but it was wasted on flat characters, lackluster tension, and far too many overused lines. If you’re invested in The Society series, you might feel obligated to read this, but honestly, you’re not missing much if you skip it. Here’s hoping book three gets the series back on track, because I’m ready to leave this detour behind.
This was a cute novella for the series but in some ways I felt it was unnecessary. I guess if you're curious as to how the gun was found then it does give closure, but in my opinion it does nothing to further develop the story. The characters from the previous books make an appearance, but that's all.
The main characters were nice and in true fashion with the series they're two people that have sexual tension and when they finally get together, it's explosive. Chase and Ava are Southsiders and it was nice to get more insight into what life is like on that side of the town.
Chase is a character who has a moral compass and is trying to protect the person he cares most about, but it still comes across as mean. His heart is in the right place, but I feel like he could have somehow given Ava a clue as to what he was doing. Ava was a decent character, but I felt she could have been a little more developed. But it is a novella so I can see how it wouldn't have been worth doing a lot of development for her when she's only in this one.
If you're a fan of the series then it's kind of hard to not be compelled to read this one as it does answer one or two questions about Halloween but it won't give anymore insight into who The Society is.
Chasing Eva it was a quick read long time friends turn to lovers but throw in the enemies too. It's Halloween time at the Hamilton estate and chasing Ava are invited. When chasing evil find a message from the society on the wall of Lincoln's home Chase has some ideas on what is going down but not really. As Jason and Ava are in the Oakley woods getting it on they come across the gun at least Chase does and if you had read casino evil you'll know that during Halloween another murder was committed. In the story it tells you about the murder who did it and why it's being covered up. You don't get a lot of hint on who the society is in this book you don't really get the answers you're looking for so let's hope give you some answers on who is part of the society because it's really bogging my brain.
Ivy Fox has absolutely nailed it with this completed secret society, contemporary, college romance series.
The series follows Finn Walker, Easton Price, Colt Turner and Lincoln Hamilton whose dark history together has resulted in them being blackmailed by The Society. The Society is what many thought was an urban legend but these four best friends know first hand just how real they are.
The books are standalone but with an interconnected storyline that is resolved at the end of the series.
The series contains:
- Enemies to lovers; - Friends to enemies to lovers; and - Forbidden romance - Student/teacher.
If you enjoy a suspenseful, mysterious romance novel with plot twists, plenty of steam and lots of witty banter, then this series is for you.
Welcome to the world of the Society, and the fu##ed up members. This series was hard to review because it's not just stand-alone stories you have to read as a whole. I feel no book was better then the other because they all complemented each other so well. In this series you come across the secrets of the rulers of this world. It kinda gives cult vibes, and I'm all here for a cult. Everything is so meticulously planned out in a suspenseful yummy detail. Words can't describe how amazing this series is to me. I will never sleep on anything Fox writes because this author has pure talent. Ivy paints an dark, insane, twisted world, and I love it!! The Men in this series are nothing without their strong females. Drop what your doing and go read!!!
This dark, bully, enemy to lovers romance novella was developed to answer the unanswered and designed to pull you further into The Society's subplot. New characters that were briefly mentioned in book two, as well as the reasoning as to the "how" and "why" it occurred.
Chase & Ava, both from the Southside of Asheville. Both living in the same park Stone (Book one) grew up in. Chase works in the vehicle repair shop that Easton takes his truck to and was invited to the Halloween party that was held at Lincoln's estate. His mother, Janet, is a waitress at Big Jim's, just like Stone.
This novella is what you would expect. Short and to the point. The characters were cute and I love how it answered some questions that are asked from the previous book. It does have potential for their own book. One question I had before I decided to read this one was if it was absolutely needed to read before book 4 or if it could be just whenever. In my opinion I would definitely read this as book 3. I know some people consider novellas to be something that is just a side story or something smaller, but I feel like this book plays a decent role in the series and needs to be read as a continuation of book 2 technically. Overall 3/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐
This spin off book is just as good as the main story line and characters are mention in the crossover but can be read as standalone. Ava made the biggest mistake don't call the cops. Chase had to follow the rules and avoid the snitch, Making her life hell. His father is in prison but with him getting out the rules have changed. And he has started to keep an eye on Ava, Halloween is the perfect time to stalk her with being invited to a Elite party. Friends in high places there names are on the list. As thing take a turn for the worse. Loyalty is tested who will come out on top when they are need.
“I remember him asking through broken teeth and jaw. “What did you do?!” “I saved you,” I stuttered, as the paramedics placed a neck brace on him. “No one can save me. Least of all you.” I’ll never forget the look of true hatred when he flung those words in my direction. “What?” “You ruined everything! I’ll never forgive you for this! Never!”
Fear No Evil is a short novella, which fills in a blank. It serves a purpose but it was a bit lacklustre. It raised more questions and maybe they’ll be resolved in the next book.
3.5 stars that I’ve bumped to 4 since I enjoyed the ending so much. This is definitely a quick read. I think it had potential to be a full fledged novel.
The trouble with nearly every bully romance is the need for that pesky REASON for the bullying. While I do love bully romances most of the REASONS are flimsy and laughable. Honestly, this one is definitely falls in that category.
With bullying you need a good grovel to redeem the bullying and being a novella you get none of that here. The story is entertaining and fits nicely in with this series.
“If hate is all I have to give, take it all away from me. I suffocate in it,”
Chase and Ava’s story is short, and fast, but not to be missed! I loved getting a little look into a couple from the Southside! Their story had me feeling all the feels, that I look for in a high school bully romance. The storyline is a little dark, but the chemistry between these two is so perfect.
Ivy Fox just keeps me on the edge of my seat with this series, I can’t wait to read the third installment next!
“If hate is all I have to give, take it all away from me. I suffocate in it,”
Chase Dixon (age 18) can sweet talk a girl out of her panties one second and then shove his fist into someone’s face the very next. Ava Bailey (age 18) is a girl from the Southside. They were childhood friends until Ava called the cops on Chase’s abusive father. That made her a ‘snitch’ and the friends to enemies began.
Chase has a tough life and he’s just trying to survive. Ava’s good heart and pure feelings finally bring down his walls giving them the HEA they deserve.
We get a cute little inside look to who Chase Dixon is. In Hear No Evil we learn that Chase attended the Halloween Party, and later he used a gun to kill his father that was then linked back to Lincoln's parents murder. This novella gives all the answers to questions you may have had as to how he got his hands on that gun and why he murdered father. We also get introduced to Ava, Chase's first teen crush/love. Such a cute story and happy ending.
This is a one sitting read at under a hundred pages. As I said in my title, it is all those things and more. I have not read the Society series, but I am intrigued. She's the girl he hates and with good reason. His past is coming back to haunt them both. Still, this is not the only thing hanging over their heads. They may have taken care of one problem, and it creates a second problem that is not resolved here.
Chase has "hated" Ava for interfering and calling the cops when his father nearly beat him to death. He had everyone in school ostracizing her for being a snitch.
They both get invited to Lincolns mansion for a Halloween party and that's when he lets his defenses down and shows her how he truly feels about her. But he is still worried because he knows that his father is back after he is released from prison.
This is a short but awesome novella where we meet Ava and chase and just like every other book Ivy writes it sucks you in and leaves craving more. It's definitely a< i treat while waiting for more of this amazing author's work. The society is a twisted series that you will be trapped in but loving every page and this novella makes it even better.
I stumbled upon this through a Facebook add. As soon as I read the description I knew I had to read it. It can be a complete Standalone. I love when friends turn to enemies then turn back to loves. This was amazing. Perfect amount of bully romance with a lot of twists and turns. Must read.
A novella that definitely packs a punch. I loved these characters and their story, I love the world of the society and it was pretty cool to be on the outside of what is happening in the society series but also get little snippets of what’s going on. This series is amazing and this book is a real treat.
The Southside may be where Ava and Chase are from but their grit and determination is what hold them together. Chase is angry that Ava sent his father to prison after bashing him senseless. But on his father’s release he tries to end Ava’s life and Chase steps up to save her and her family.
I'm giving this 4 stars only because I wanted the jerk hero to grow a pair and he did. Bravo! Too many stories today where the hero falls short. At least in my opinion. This one didn't. It delivered. It also delivered on the romance aspect with some serious heat. I wish it had been longer and more involved, but it was still an enjoyable read.
Fear No Evil is a short, spin off from The Society series. This novella is a steamy, bully romance and involve new characters. A quick read and a nice addition to The Society world. It has the potential to be another full romance book if the author could explore the story more aside from that situation that ties it to the main series.
