Rate this book
Three charming stories of new school years and new romance. A Class for Laurel by Amy Clipston Adventurous Laurel Weaver leaves Pennsylvania to answer a newspaper ad for a teaching position in Colorado. She stays with handsome Glen Troyer’s family, and they become close. However, she never intended to stay in Colorado, and his family worries Glen may choose to follow her back to Pennsylvania or be left with a broken heart. Now she can’t bear to think of leaving Glen and her beloved students, but she’s beginning to feel like she’s out of options. Will Laurel and Glen push through the obstacles and fight for love? A Lesson on Love by Kathleen Fuller Priscilla Helmuth left her Amish community twelve years ago to pursue her dream of being a country singer, but she’s missed her faith and her family. Now, she’s moving to Birch Creek to be a schoolteacher. Micah Wagler recently moved there as well to put the past behind him. As the community comes together to build a new schoolhouse, Priscilla and Micah are thrown together. They bond over their love of music, but soon it appears that Priscilla’s dreams of fame just might be coming true. She has to give up something, and Micah worries that it will be their faith . . . and his heart. Wendy’s Twenty Reasons by Shelley Shepard Gray Wendy Schwartz is used to people underestimating her, but she’s sure she can be a great teacher. Unfortunately, it’s a disaster not long after she starts, and soon her job is in jeopardy. To make matters more complicated, she worries that she’s falling for the son of the older couple she’s boarding with. Lewis Weaver knows he shouldn’t have a romantic relationship with a tenant, but he can’t help but be drawn to Wendy. When a dangerous ice storm traps Wendy in the schoolroom with her students, uncomfortable truths will have to be faced by the town that just might change the future for everyone.

Beautiful and inspirational Christian romance book.
I have enjoyed reading many books by these authors so to see a novella collection with these authors writing together is a wonderful bonus.
These authors write clean wholesome romance that you can always enjoy without having to worry about the content.
The young ladies in this book are all newcomers to an area and while they are made to feel welcome by friends their age they are not looking for romance.
The ladies want to be the best possible teacher they can be for their students but do have some hardships to work through.
When the couples bond will they find their happily ever afters?
Hard to put down, I really enjoyed this book!

These three short stories by different authors are all about young unmarried Amish ladies who want to be teachers. Each one goes to another place to do their job. Each one meets a local Amish gentleman and falls in love. Each setting is different and each situation is different and together they give a birds eye view of what an Amish one room school is like. These were entertaining and informative and each one gives you a whole story in one sitting.

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This is a nice collection of stories that depict the lifestyle of Amish women who teach school. Each teacher leaves her own community and family and relocates to an unfamiliar area. The stories have fast moving plots, magnetic characters and a sweet romance too. These are just right for a calming read before bedtime or a peaceful vacation entertainment.
I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy. I enjoyed these stories by three of the popular writers of the genre today. This is my personal opinion.

A Class for Laurel (Amy Clipston) - 3.5 stars

This wasn’t my favorite story by Amy Clipston, but I still liked it. It was really different for her in that it was set in Colorado. It was a bit instalovey. Novellas are notorious for that, but Amy Clipston’s don’t usually have so much instalove.

A Lesson on Love (Kathleen Fuller) - 4 stars

Finally! A story where the girl is older than the guy (in this case by 10 years!) and no one makes a big deal of it! Priscilla did have some insecurity about it, but that was more because she saw Micah talking to another girl. Also, I love their conversation about age:

“Because I’m thirty-five.”
He shrugged. “Well, we should head for the service or we’ll be late.”
“Didn’t you hear what I said? I’m thirty-five.”
“I heard you. Age is just a number.”

I loved Micah. He was great, and very sweet. They had a lot in common. This one was just adorable!

Wendy’s Twenty Reasons (Shelley Shepard Gray) - 2 stars

This one felt the least Amish of the three. It was also the most inatalovey. I liked the snowed in aspect though.

Each story involves teacher moving to a new town and falling in love with a local man. The stories involve faith to different degrees. There are difficulties that each couple must overcome. Some are more of a challenge than others, but each has a happy ending.

An Amish Schoolroom is an easy-to-read, engaging collection of three novellas by three of my favorite Amish fiction writers. Even though these are short novellas, each provides a complete, satisfying handling of its characters and subject. Through these stories, we get a glimpse into the lives of three single Amish teachers and the challenges they face as they leave their homes and travel to another community to pursue their life’s calling. We also meet the three special men who win their hearts and help them through the challenges. With smoothly flowing plots, endearing characters, sweet romance, and inspiring spiritual truths, these stories will entertain you and make you smile. I thoroughly enjoyed this collection and highly recommend it.

Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Shelley Shepard Gray. These names are synonymous with great storytelling, and this book has stories from all three! An Amish Schoolroom is a delightful collection about three young women who want to teach, but encounter many obstacles along the way. Each novella has different characters and different settings, but they all shine a light on the qualities that a good teacher should have : love, patience, dedication, and determination!

Reading these stories took me back in time, as I remembered my own anticipation of new teachers, new school years, and new beginnings! An Amish Schoolroom, however, presents the teacher's point of view, as Laurel, Priscilla, and Wendy experience their own new beginnings! Laurel has to leave her family and move to another state to fulfill her dream, Priscilla goes back to her Amish home after her original dream is altered, and Wendy has to prove that she is capable of teaching the Amish children in her community. Challenges indeed, but the biggest tests seem to be in their personal relationships. Glen, Micah, and Lewis are three exceptional young men waiting to sweep these Amish teachers off of their feet, but will they succeed?

If you enjoy reading about the Amish lifestyle, and you're yearning for love and romance, look no further. Clipston, Fuller, and Gray have filled An Amish Schoolroom with warmth, inspiration, and strong family connections. Three entertaining stories by three exceptional authors make this a perfect choice!

Three young women move to a new community for a teaching job and find love along the way.

A collection of three sweet Amish romance novellas about finding love and place in a new community. I enjoyed all of the stories, though I think that A Lesson on Love was one of my favorites because of how kind and straightforward Micah was about how he felt for Priscilla from the get go, and how he stood up for her and didn't judge her past. I loved Wendy's dedication to her students despite the doubters, and how Laurel is honest about her fears when entering into a new relationship.

Overall, a quick read with sweet love stories. A great pick me up, which made for a good break from some more serious reads.

Three novellas written by three premiere authors of Amish fiction, they won’t disappoint you at all. Well, only in the fact that I wish they were longer so I could read more of these wonderful characters and their lives.

Based on three school teachers, their students, and communities, each one is well written with well developed characters. Hard to do in novellas but Clipston, Fuller, and Gray all pulled it off. Each story is heartwarming, with love of family, determination, and humor sprinkled throughout and of course each contains a sweet romance. I highly recommend An Amish Schoolroom if you enjoy Amish fiction.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

This endearing book contains three endearing novellas about three new Amish teachers written by three popular authors of Amish fiction. Since these are shorter than a full novel, they don’t go into as much character depth as a longer story but do share rich experiences and explore new love. Some of the conversations come across as a bit stilted but the tales do have wonderful, believable characters in realistic situations. Wendy’s Twenty Reasons by Shelley Shepard Gray was my favorite in this collection, where a young teacher has to prove herself to the community. It’s heartwarming to witness the character growth in these stories. #AnAmishSchoolroom #NetGalley

These stories were wonderful! I love all three of these authors and what a great combination they make.
The stories were each different and about different Amish teachers who find love. It's fun to see the ins and outs of the Amish school and how it differs with school as we know it. The stories were interesting, enjoyable and sweet romances. I really enjoyed them all and highly recommend to the Amish book fan.

The book is very engaging and you don't want to put the book down. I hope these three wonderful authors will continue to collaborate because they make for some great reading!

An Amish Schoolroom is another great book written by three talented authors Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Shelley Shepard Gray. Each author has written an excellent story about the happenings in an Amish school. Each story has an excellent storyline and well rounded characters.

All three are "gut".

Usually I find in a trilogy one story that's not quite as good as the other two. Not so for these three stories. All are equally enjoyable. Perhaps a bit too predictable but "gut" just the same.

Think--Hallmark Hall of Fame---cheesy romance novels--- lots of happily ever after and not a lot of substance. I was looking for a book like Tisha The Story of a Young Teacher in Alaska. This was not even close to being that good. Anyone know of another book like Tisha?? I have also loved Mrs. Mike.

An Amish Schoolroom contains three heartwarming novellas by Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Shelley Shepard Gray. Each Amish tale is about a woman whose desire to become a teacher is finally fulfilled. As they embark on their new adventure, each lady meets a handsome, friendly man. I liked that each story was set in a different Amish community. We get a glimpse of what it is like to teach school in a one-room schoolhouse with students from six to fourteen. I thought each of the stories were well-written with realistic characters and beautiful settings. A Class for Laurel takes us to Monte Vista, Colorado where Laurel Weaver meets Glen Troyer. They become friends, and then begin dating. Glen’s family, though, worries that he will move away or get his heart broken. Can love triumph? This was such a sweet story. I was drawn in right away. I liked the characters especially Glen’s grandmother. I enjoyed the vivid descriptions of Monte Vista, Colorado. It sounds like a beautiful area (the word imagery makes me want to visit). The romance was sweet and progressed nicely. I appreciated the epilogue that nicely wrapped up the story. I hope we get to revisit this community again (hint, hint Amy Clipston). A Lesson on Love by Kathleen Fuller has Priscilla Helmuth returning to the Amish after pursuing her dream in Nashville. Priscilla is hired as the teacher in Marigold, Ohio. When she goes to purchase a buggy, Priscilla meets buggy maker Micah Wagler. There is an instant attraction between them, but Priscilla worries about their age difference. A maedel in the community feels she has dibs on Micah which causes conflict. Just when Micah and Priscilla become close, Priscilla receives some surprising news. A Lesson on Love was an easy-to-read story. I liked that there was an age difference between Micah and Priscilla. It gives us something different along with Priscilla’s dream of being a country music singer. This is a charming story. Wendy’s Twenty Reasons by Shelley Shepard Gray has Wendy Schwartz realizing her dream of becoming a teacher. Wendy intends to prove she can handle the job despite her young age. It is proving difficult as her students miss their former teacher and a nosy mother questions her abilities. Wendy finds her landlord’s son, Lewis to be friendly and helpful. She enjoys spending time with him and finds herself wanting more than friendship. Wendy does not want to pick between teaching and love. If things do not improve at school, though, Wendy could find herself returning home and her teaching dream over. This was an engaging story that was over far too soon. It has good characters and a thought-out plot. I liked the humor sprinkled throughout the story. I like how it all came together. I liked that we get to see things from the male and female perspective in each novella. An Amish Schoolroom is a charming collection of stories. They are great individually and work wonderfully together. Each novella has special characters, a beautiful setting, unexpected love, and a pesky problem. My favorite line came from A Class for Laurel which is, “With God all things are possible.” An Amish Schoolroom is an irresistible trio of Amish tales that was the perfect way so spend a rainy Saturday afternoon.

This trilogy of stories centers around new school years and new love. A Class for Laurel by Amy Clipston: Adventurous Laurel Weaver leaves her Pennsylvania home to answer a newspaper ad for a teaching position in Colorado. She stays with Glen Troyer's family and they become close. However, it was never her intention to stay in Colorado and his family is worried that either Glen will choose to follow her back to Pennsylvania or end up with a broken heart. Now, Laurel can't imagine leaving her precious students but she's beginning to think its her only option. There are few authors that can write novellas that I actually enjoy and Amy is consistently one of those authors. She writes characters that are so relatable that I can find myself bonding with them within the limited time within a novella. A Lesson on Love by Kathleen Fuller: Twelve years ago, Priscilla Helmuth left her Amish community to chase her dreams of becoming a country singer. But, she's missed her faith and her family. Now, she's moving to Birch Creek to be a schoolteacher. Micah Wagler recently moved to Birch Creek, as well, in an effort to put his past behind him. As the community comes together to build a new schoolhouse, Priscilla and Micah find themselves being thrown together. They become close, initially bonding over their shared love of music, but then it looks like Priscilla's dreams of fame and fortune may be starting to come true. She has to give up something and Micah worries that it'll be him and their faith. Kathleen Fuller is one of the authors that I've consistently enjoyed. Wendy's Twenty Reasons by Shelley Shepherd Gray: Wendy Schwartz is used to people underestimating her but she knows she could be a good teacher. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long before her job is in jeopardy as things quickly become a disaster. And, as if things weren't complicated enough, she worries that she may be falling for the son of the older couple she's been boarding with. Lewis Weaver knows that its a bad idea to become involved with a tenant, but he can't help but find himself drawn to her. When Wendy and her students are trapped in the schoolroom by a dangerous ice storm, the town faces uncomfortable truths that may change the future for everyone. I really could relate to Wendy in how people tend to underestimate her. The young ladies in this trilogy of novellas have all left their homes to teach in an unfamiliar area. They do want to fit into their new home but they are not looking for romance. It just sort of sneaks up on them. They want to be the best teachers they can but face some obstacles along the way.

I received a copy of An Amish Schoolroom in exchange for an honest review. The content of my review was not affected by this.

An Amish Classroom is a collection of three Amazon’s stories by by Amy Clipston , Kathleen Fuller, and Shelly Shepherd Gray is an excellent collection of love stories. I was given an ARC by Zondervan Fiction and the authors and was not required to give a positive review.

A Class for Laurel by Amy Clipston is A delightful story about Laurel Weaver and Glen Trover. Laura has moved to Colorado from Pennsylvania in order to teach and have a little adventure before she marries. Laura is housed in a small house located on Glen’s family property.

Glen befriends Laurel and before they know it they are becoming more than friends. Can anything ever become of this friendship since Laurel’s plan has always been to return to Pennsylvania and her family in a few years.

You will totally enjoy this lovely story. Amy has done an excellent job, as always, telling this story.

A Lesson on Love by Kathleen Fuller is the second story in this collection.

Priscilla Helmuth left her Amish community years ago to follow her dreams to become a singer. After those dreams did not come true she returned to her home community to become an Amish school teacher.

Priscilla has accepted a job in a small Amish community as their school teacher. She is attracted at first sight to the buggy maker, Micah Wagler. She realizes that nothing can come of this attraction because she is 10 years his senior.

The question is, will Micah take no for an answer.

Beautiful telling of this story by Kathleen.

Wendy’s Twenty Reasons by Shelley Shepard Gray Is an excellent story about growth, maturity, and acceptance.

Wendy Schwartz Is a young woman who has always wanted to teach but was considered too young and inexperienced to be given the job in her own community.

She gets a job in another community to fill out the school term for a beloved teacher who has left.

This go just about as expected for a new teacher who is trying to establish her own place in the children’s, parents and community’s hearts. Rough. Wendy is living in a boarding house with two other boarders and the owners and their family.

Lewis Weaver, the owners son wishes for he and Wendy to be more than friends. Can this happen when Wendy might not be ask to return in the fall.

Shelly does a great job sharing this story and you will enjoy every minute.

Thank you, Zondervan Fiction for allowing me to read this 5-star collection from these three great authors.

This book features three short, clean romance stories featuring teachers within an Amish community.

🍎 A Class for Laurel by Amy Clipston

I enjoyed reading this sweet love story between Laurel and Glen. Their romance was actually very relatable, since I went through a similar thing with my inlaws.

****slight spoiler****

In short, I moved to a different state to be with my (then) boyfriend and my mother in law wasn't too happy about it. Come to find out, she was worried about losing her son (just like Glen's mamm in the story). Since then, we have worked things out and now we're pretty close.

***end of very slight spoiler***

It's really neat to hear about a similar thing happening in an Amish setting.

🍎 A Lesson of Love by Kathleen Fuller

This story features a very sweet age gap romance between Priscilla and Micah. I really enjoyed Priscilla's viewpoint of being both English and Amish, and how she prefers the more conservative lifestyle. Their shared love of music was a nice touch as well. Suetta's character definitely surprised me since she had a personality isn't a common character trait in Amish books. It was interesting to read about her as a side character.

🍎 Wendy's Twenty Reasons by Shelly Shepard Grey

The heroine of this story, Wendy, is so likable and sweet. It is a slight age gap romance (6 years) with another guy vying for her. This story was hard to put down, and I wish that it was a bit longer.

An interesting part is the brief mention of a group of Amish mentoring children in Mexico on a mission trip. If the author sees this at all, that would make a great story since it's out of the box from the generic Amish story setting.

🌟 Overall, I really enjoyed reading An Amish Schoolhouse. It was a nice escape from every day life with three sweet and clean romances. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys sweet romances and learning about the Amish lifestyle.

This delightful combination of three different teachers involving starting out in new schools is a lovely read.
Three authors, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Shelley Shepard Gray each contribute a story.

A Class for Laurel by Amy Clipston

Laurel Weaver is definitely the adventurous type who accepts a teaching job in Colorado leaving her much loved family and friends in Pennsylvania to accept a teaching position. What she does not expect is to find that Glen who lives in a home of the Troyer's family and she lives in another home on their property to becomes more than just a friend. Short but very enjoyable.

A Lesson on Love by Kathleen Fuller

Priscilla Helmuth has given up on her dream of being a country singer and realizes she wants to get back to her life with the Amish community. She accepts a teaching position in Marigold, Ohio which is a place she knows very little about. The school will be new and exciting until she meets Micah Wagler who will sell her a buggy to get around with. Now Priscilla and Micah both seem to feel that they enjoy music and each other's company. Could they each of found their mate?

Wendy's Twenty Reasons by Shelley Shepard Gray

Wendy Schwartz is very young and unfortunately many people feel she is not ready to be a teacher. She loves teaching and enjoys the children and thinks of them as family. This is only a temporary position and she wants to make a good impression and be asked back for the next semester. The problem is not everyone feels she should be rehired in the fall.

Unfortunately not knowing anyone before she moves she decides to rent a room at the Weaver home. What she does not expect to find is a very good friendship with Lewis. After some horrible news, she feels she will not have a future here and will have to go back home.

Leave it to God to help her with her ambitions when an unforeseen emergency takes place. Good read.

Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Shelley Shepard Gray together in one book! Three stories take readers to the Amish one room schoolhouse, where all grades are taught together.

Amy Clipston's A Class for Laurel, takes Laurel Weaver from her home in Lancaster to a teaching position in Colorado. All she wanted was a couple of years of an adventure, something different from her norm. She didn't expect Glen Troyer, or his friendship. Can she face the opposition of his family to find a new place to belong?

Kathleen Fuller's story, "A Lesson in Love" brings the story of Priscilla Helmuth and Micah Wagler. Priscilla has spent the last 15 years pursuing her dream of being a country music star and living in the English world. She was recently convicted to return to her Amish roots, and has taken a classroom in a tiny town in Ohio. At 35, she believes love has passed her by. Micah Wagler is also a recent transplant, moving from Lancaster to start his buggy building business. Priscilla is the first woman to interest him in a long time, but when fame finally comes calling, is Micah's love enough to keep Priscilla Amish?

Shelley Shepard Gray's story, Wendy's Twenty Reasons puts Wendy Schwartz in a classroom as the long-term substitute for a much-loved teacher. Wendy is young, and used to being underestimated, but she didn't expect outright opposition. Lewis Weaver is the son of the couple Wendy is boarding with, and his steady friendship is rapidly becoming not only her support, but her sounding board. Can Lewis convince Wendy to stay on, even if the school board doesn't want to renew her contract? When Wendy and her students are trapped in the school by a blizzard, will the town change their tune?

I like each of these authors individually, and putting them all in the same book is inspired! Each story has some humor, some anguish, and some unexpected love. I can definitely recommend this to readers who enjoy Amish fiction!

An Amish Schoolroom is a collection of three stories by Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Shelley Shephard Gray. The stories all have backdrops of schoolrooms within the Amish communities.

Amy Clipston's A Class for Laurel, the reader is introduced to an uncommon Amish setting - Colorado. Being a Colorado resident this was a fun story to read as I have not given much thought to this community in my home state. The story tells the tale of a couple facing dilemmas such as a large age difference, a third party admirer and a disapproving family. They will need to rely on their faith and love to get passed the hurdles. This is a sweet story that I give two thumbs up!

In Ms. Fuller's A Lesson On Love, we find an Amish young lady who has just recently returned to her faith and found a very interested fellow. However, the pull to the English way of life and a chance at following her dreams might take her right back out into the world. She needs to decide what exactly is her dreams and make a decision to reach out for that happy ending.

In Ms. Gray's Wendy's Twenty Reasons we find an Amish teacher struggling with difficulties that could jeopardize her position and then on top of that an ice storm traps her and the students. Everyone, including her romantic interest, has to come to some realizations which might change the outlook for the future.

As usual, this collection of three stories makes for a comfortable, easy read. The feel good romance stories make for light reading. As chilly Fall weather moves in, this is a great book to curl up with!

What can be better than three of the BEST Amish writers collaborating on a book? Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller and Shelley Shepard Gray wrote three amazing stories with teachers as the main character. As a teacher myself, I was immediately drawn to this book!
In “A Class for Laurel” by Amy Clipston, Laurel moves from Lancaster to teach in Colorado. She stays with Glen Troyer’s family. She is falling for Glen, but she is terribly homesick. Will love find a way?
Kathleen Fuller wrote, “A Lesson on Love”. Priscilla left her Amish faith to become a singer. After reeling that life wasn’t what it was cut out to be, she comes back to the Amish community. She becomes friends with Micah Wagler, who is ten years younger than her. Can a May-December romance work?
“Wendy’s Twenty Reasons”, is by Shelley Shephard Gray. Wendy is a brand new teacher trying to prove herself to her students and parents. She boards with Lewis Weaver’s parents. They become close while Wendy is dealing with pressure from the parents at her school. Then an unexpected event changes everything for Wendy, her students and Lewis.
These three authors are also collaborating on another book An Amish Quilting Bee:Three Stories that will come out in December, just in time for Christmas!
I want to thank Amy Clipston, Zondervan Fiction and Netgalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

An Amish Schoolroom is a sweet novella collection featuring stories by Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, and Shelley Shepard Gray. This book features heart-warming stories of family, friendship, faith, and love that are set in three different Amish communities. As the teachers in these stories endeavor to instruct, inspire, and serve their students in their small, Amish schoolrooms, new relationships are nurtured, goals are achieved, and love begins to grow.

In each of these novellas, the authors have written endearing stories that are thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting. I quickly and easily found myself drawn into the plot of each novella, experiencing real connections to the characters within each story. These stories include relatable characters who face setbacks, overcome challenges, and welcome unexpected possibilities. Their dreams and motivations are moving and memorable. I especially appreciated the meaningful, thematic threads of service, kindness, friendship, faith, family, and community that are woven throughout each of the three stories.

An Amish Schoolroom is a special book that holds three touching novellas that are each quite thoughtful and engaging. It is a lovely book perfect for hours of cozy reading, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

*I was given a copy of this book by the author. A review was not required. The review I have written is voluntary and contains opinions that are entirely my own.
