In the decades since the Disaster decimated the global population, millions of colonists from Luna have earnestly been resettling the derelict cities of Earth. But at the dawn of the twenty-fourth century, humanity doesn't look like it used to.
On the rain-soaked streets of a resettled Houston, Texas, the Empath Ford Thalassman must use his wits, charisma, connections, and even his gills to assist an intriguing new client from Luna. She may have uncovered data that could once again change the fate of humanity.
But Ford has his limits. As the enemies multiply and the stakes get higher, even his partner, Stan, and his virtual assistant, Oz, may not be enough. That's when Ford enlists an old contact to help--an erratic but brilliant Lunan Machinist who will use all of her ingenuity and cunning (as long as she gets paid).
In an adventure that takes Ford from the murky depths of Buffalo Bayou to the pinnacle of Lunan civilization in Armstrong and back to Earth to the wasteland beyond the safe zone, Ford will be confronted with his past, his future, and his faith.
This book is one of the rare ones that I honestly feel I could recommend to anyone and they would enjoy it. It has cool futuristic tech, it has adventure, it has romance, and it is an overall enjoyable read with good characters and story pacing.
Pros: There is action and suspense, there is humor, there is even some romance. The characters are well developed and you start to feel like you know them well by the end of the story. The pacing of the action is perfect to keep you reading. Most impressive is the realism of it all even though it's set so far in the future. This is most likely due to the depth that Godbold is able to speak about in terms of space, bio genetics, technology and other areas crucial to the plot of the story.
Cons: there is no sequel (yet?) and I'm sad I don't have more to read
So if you're looking for a good futuristic, space, tech, romance, and action book to read with great characters, then I highly recommend Thalassman's Code by Evan Godbold.
My husband wrote this book, and I told him if he wanted me to read it, it would have to have great characters and a love story. I’ve never read a sci-fi book. It’s a great book!!! The characters are wonderful, the love story is sweet, there’s lots of action and adventure. Can’t complain. It’s a fun read. He’s working on the second book, and it has even more action and adventure.
Thalassman’s Code was a pleasant change from what I typically read. I appreciated the depth of the characters and their interactions with one another. The storyline was original and intriguing. There was a great balance of humor along with the focus the characters’ mission entailed. The author kept the suspense going through to the last page and has left me wondering and hoping for a sequel.
I had never finished or enjoyed a Sci-Fi books before this one! It was fantastic, you can see the world that the characters live in clearly and the story is wonderful. Looking forward for what comes next for Ford and Angela:)
