The Rich Boy is Kylie Scott's newest stand-alone novel and it was such a good time. I love a feel good read with a super swoony hero and this hit the spot.
The rich guy broke girl troupe is a fairly common one, but I've never read it done quite like this before... Alice is working as a waitress when the new hot bus boy starts to flirt with her. She becomes fast friends with Beck and after a few dates, it's apparent they have a spark. Alice doesn't know much about Beck, but he seems like a wanderer, a free spirit who is traveling and finding himself. When his old life comes back into the picture, things get complicated.
Even though Beck is a busboy, he's also the son of a billionaire. When something major happens with his family, he has to come home. And he wants nothing more than for Alice to come with him. Beck's life in Colorado is so different from the life she lives in California. The circles he runs in, his family, it's nothing like she could have imagined. It's a complete and utter shock. But she can't find it in herself to leave Beck. She needs to give this time, their connection is too strong. Even though there are those rooting against them, they make it work.
I really did love Alice, but Beck was my favorite part of this book. He is the sweetest and softest hero. I loved how much he loved Alice and how he saw her. He accepted her the way she was and even though there was a bit of miscommunication, they really did make the perfect pair.
What I love most about Kylie Scott's books is that they're not the same old, same old romance. She always mixes it up a little and I appreciate that. This was a fantastic slow burn romance. It made me laugh, made me feel, and made me swoon. I enjoyed this one lots and highly recommend it!

At the beginning it was a little bit hard for me to get into the story, but I liked the characters and once I read more I loved it!The story for me was a little bit weird.
“You know, I honestly can’t decide if you’re crazy, comedic, or something else entirely.”
I liked Alice so much, such a nice character.The romance was fast and I like it. These two have a great chemistry.They were fun and sexy.
Not my favorite book from Kylie yet it was fun and heartwarming!

-Beck does one of his sneaky smiles, the kind he tries to hide for one reason or another. But it's there and it's beautiful like everything else about him. If the man was a book, I'd reread him a hundred times or more. Learning every nook and cranny of his mind and emotions until I knew him inside and out.
The Rich Boy by Kylie Scott is a heartwarming, romantic, sexy, swoony standalone romance that I absolutely adored!!! Beck is super dreamy and easy to love, and Alice is a confidant, strong woman who knows her worth. I couldn’t get enough of these characters, and didn’t want the story to end. I was smiling throughout, and couldn’t put this book down. I would love a story for Ethan and Henry too!

When I signed up to read this one, I had no idea it was gonna be a "fairytale" style story. I only saw the name "Kylie Scott" and I knew I had to read it ;)
This was definitely a "fluffy" kind of story with the best kind of hero to boot!! Sometimes, these kinds of stories are exactly what the doctor ordered. It sure came at the right time for me after reading multiple angsty reads.
Alice is a waitress and Beck is a flirty busboy, trying to gain her attention....which of course he does
They have instant chemistry and it is apparent right from the very start that these two are "meant to be".
But Beck isn't just a busboy though.... He also comes from money, lots and lots of money. And when circumstances force him back home, he takes Alice with her.
Talk about coming from different worlds!!! Alice was definitely shocked beyond belief. She is not so sure she belongs in his world. No worries though, because Beck is awesome.
I really liked Alice. She was a very strong and independent woman, but Beck... he stole the show. I closed this book with a huge smile on my face. I really needed that!

I tried to escape…
So, the Corona Virus…
I really tried to shut out the world and all our woes to escape into The Rich Boy. I absolutely loved the Pretty Woman vibe and loved Beck’s swoon-worthy and romantic antics to get Alice’s attention.
BUT…
My brain wouldn’t turn off from what’s going on in my life and I couldn't help wondering how these characters would cope or deal with Covid 19?
How are the rich people coping with Corona Virus?
Are their staff obligated to keep on serving to their needs?
Do the staff and the rich self-isolate/hang out together?
Will their money protect them from the virus?
Can you run a multi-billion dollar company remotely?
I wonder if they worry about running out of toilet paper?
So, while I absolutely loved The Rich Boy, I found myself intensely distracted by real life.
A little part of me is always sad that I’m not the one being showered in diamonds and waited on hand and foot. Then, reality comes in and I realise that money does not buy you happiness and is attached to some very unfortunate side-effects. I would hate having my photo taken without my knowledge. I would hate having to make speeches and appear at fundraisers where I was under constant scrutiny. I would hate having my hubby accosted and having to accept that I play second-fiddle to “business” talk. I’m thankful there are stories like this in my world because it makes me realise, I’m happy with what I’ve got.
This is not a story about…or not just about a lady getting swept off her feet and treated like a princess. I absolutely loved that Beck and Alice met before she was even aware he came from money. I would have preferred to see them together a bit longer before he whisks her away to his real life. I just felt like I needed more of them together as just the busboy, Beck and the waitress, Alice. I needed more time to believe that Alice wasn’t making a silly choice in flying to another city for a man she had only known for a few days.
This is what I would call a slow-burn romance and it definitely worked for me. Their mutual desire and attraction jumped off the pages, and when they finally come together, IT’S HOT!
I found myself smiling a lot while reading this story. Both Beck and Alice are funny, and I loved that Beck used Jane Austen’s words to lure Alice into his clutches. There were a lot of quotes from Pride and Prejudice that made me sigh in delight.
While there are some hurdles this couple must pass, I had faith in their success because they didn’t give up. As a couple, they worked together to conquer their problems and discussed how they would get to the other side. I believed that this couple will make it together.
I loved that Alice’s size didn’t define her. Sure, she had some insecurities about lumps and bumps but she was also comfortable with who she was. This confidence was appealing and made her size irrelevant to their relationship and attraction. It was even more appealing that Beck’s attraction didn’t seem to be about…or not about her size. I’m not a fan when it’s ALL about size/ confidence/ health/ weight.
I finished The Rich Boy with a smile on my face but I really feel like I need more. I want Ethan (Beck's brother) to take a chance on love again. I want to see how Emma (Beck's sister) and Matias are going and if their marriage will survive the second time around. I hated that Henry has such a selfish cow for a mother. I want Henry to live with Beck and Alice full-time as the poor kid needs some stability in his life. The Elliot’s are a crazy bunch with some serious issues but most of them are lovable. If Kylie Scott decided to make this into a series, I would not be disappointed.
I love this author’s work and I will definitely be back for more.

Yes, that is my sad face you can see as I am a big Kylie Scott fan. I’ve read all her contemporary books and I love her work. There are a number of reasons THE RICH BOY didn’t work for me and I will try and constructively explain.
The story started out strong, after a short while there was a need to suspend a bit of reality to go with the storyline as the heroine, Alice gave up her life to go and be with Beck after a few days. Even so, I was still invested in these two at this point. However, what I found was a very ’50 shades’ storyline , too many coincidental similarities occured but without the sex. It was a slow burn, but I wasn’t invested nor did I understand the need for the slow burn with these two.
Beck was something of a Mal (Stage Dive) character but with some facets I didn’t like. As the story progressed, I struggled with the subtle control Beck had over Alice and her being kept at home. Alarm bells rang in my head a number of times. Even when Alice seemed to revolt, it wasn’t followed through enough for me. There were insta-feelings and insta-more and that just wrecked my investment.
I know this is short and not so sweet and once again, I am sorry about that. I have great love for Kylie Scott’s work but I couldn’t find the heart or soul in this story and I didn’t believe in it. I hope this works for other readers more than it did for me.

The book starts with Alice and Beck working together with him as the busboy. He keeps calling her wife and they start going out after work, taking long walks and talking until one day a car pulls up and Beck is summoned back to his old life by the death of his father. He asks Alice to go with him but she initially refuses until he sends a bodyguard/driver for her. Taking a chance on Beck Alice quits her job and leaves the country to be with Beck, little does she know she's stepping into a world she's woefully unprepared for.

I'm a bit conflicted on this book, there were parts I liked and some parts I wasn't a fan of.
Their beginning was cute and sweet with him calling her wife but it also felt like I missed something
Alice uproots her entire life to follow Beck and she has to change her appearance to fit in with his very wealthy family. She's offered a job by his partner and expensive clothes and jewelry keep appearing in her closet all supposedly presents from Beck 's stepmother, until we find out he's been lying to her and everything including the job offer came from him. Alice was understandably hurt and angry over this and while I commend the author for having Alice stick around instead of doing a runner as is usual the problem for me was that the conflict resolution wasn't handled well at all. She was angry and wanted them to start over, a day later he buys a ring says he's sorry and that's it. She doesn't accept the ring immediately and we skip forward to them engaged and finally standing up to his grandmother. This wasn't a satisfactory ending at all
Beck left his privileged life behind after finding out the woman he planned to marry was plotting with his controlling father. When he returned with Alice that same woman was working for his stepmother so she was around from beginning almost to the bitter end(grrrrrr) Added to this another woman made it known that our boy Beck apparently got around quite a bit. These instances irked me as they just felt unnecessary, like added drama to a plot that already read like a soap opera
I liked the h , Alice for the most part, she continued to be herself and stood up to the rich snobs including Beck's atrocious grandmother. I did think that she should've stuck to her guns at the end but I liked her well enough
Beck's POV was unfortunately non existent making it hard to truly get a clear grasp on Beck. He seemed to have really liked Alice from the beginning and stuck through to the end but without his voice I didn't truly get to know Beck especially as his past left a lot to be desired.
I felt that both Beck's ex and his grandmother needed to be dealt with more firmly
It's said that this isn't a typical Cinderella story but I beg to differ as it read as very predictable.
I've enjoyed this author's work before and while I didn't quite love this one it was a pretty ok read and I'd definitely read Ethan's story

Uhm. Well. I kinda liked it but not so much. I felt like the beginning of the story was a bit too fast and then after that it all slowed down. Nothing’s new to the story line. Same old cliche where the guy is oh-so-rich and the girl was a plain jane. What really helped me finish this book was the humor in it. For me, this was not her best book by far. I really wanted to loved it but there was just no chemistry with the characters and it’s just you know...plain. It's not bad but it's also not good.
Uhm. Well. I kinda liked it but not so much. I felt like the beginning of the story was a bit too fast and then after that it all slowed down. Nothing’s new to the story line. Same old cliche where the guy is oh-so-rich and the girl was a plain jane. What really helped me finish this book was the humor in it. Sadly, so so so sadly I have to shelved this under DNF. I had a wonderful experience reading Miss Scott's books in the past. I am sorely and painfully disappointed with The Rich Boy.

Alice is working as a waitress at a bar in Santa Monica while trying to decide what to do with her somewhat useless English Lit degree.

And then we're in Denver amidst billionaires and jealous exes and mean grandmas and crazy and funny siblings and business decisions and questions about the future and closets full of designer stuff! Such a fun story!
I loved reading this.
Beck and Alice are soo adorable.
It feels a bit über-insta with how hard Beck tries to win her over. As if he already knew her from a previous life or from a dream and he just knows that this is his happily ever after person. But not in a bad way. It was just all so mega adorable.
A really sweet slow-burn-fairy-tale-ish love story. But through all that slow-burn-ish-ness we still have so many amazingly flirty and sparky and sexy moments! I just loved this book.
I loved how Alice tried to find her place in this rich people world. I loved the siblings and friends. Great cast of people!
I didn't like grandma one bit - a great grandma would've made this story even better!
And Beck was a tiny little bit too softish/insecure. I loooved him, but he was such a sad and lost little rich boy sometimes.
And the slow-burn thing. It was a bit too much. A little more sexiness earlier would've been better.
BUT - I just adored this book!
I so wouldn't mind seeing this on Netflix one day!

I never knew how much I needed an adult fairy tale in my life until I finished reading The Rich Boy. Seriously, such Cinderella vibes here even right down to horrible, mean family issues. But once I started reading, I was sucked in to the sweet, fun, sexy, slow-burning romance blossoming between Beck and Alice and I didn’t want it to end.
From their ridiculously adorable meet-cute, straight on through to the end, I adored both Beck and Alice. Loved how they were both ridiculously adorable, and uncertain. Yet willing to put in the work to make the small spark between them grow into a raging inferno.
I loved how I felt like I was right in the thick of things as the secrets were finally revealed and the ramifications thereof. I loved how Alice and Beck approached their relationship like adults—that the real issue between them was mostly through outside influences. But that they really worked together to solidify their relationship and their future.
I adored my time spent with Beck, Alice, Emma, Ethan, Henry, Matias, and Rachel. I want more from this crazy, messed up family because there are so many stories left to be told between them. Pretty please, Kylie Scott? ~ Missy, 5 stars

I debated hard on whether I should read a little further and give this book a fair chance to move into something more than the first meeting but when you know, you know 😅

I've seen reviews describing this book as "slow-burn". I was soo confused when I read this, I actually had to google "slow-burn romance definition" to make sure I actually got it right. It's being said that "slow-burn romance" is where "the relationship takes time to develop". Maybe it does in here, idk, but slow-burn only works for me when feelings take time to develop too. They already like each other very much (at least Alice does), so the jump from like to love is not big enough for me to be invested in their possible relationship. I'm sure there will be circumstances preventing them from finding their HEA too early, the blurb already says as much but I just have this big aversion to (nearly) everything insta so I'm dropping this at a whopping 6% lol.
I'm sure this book is lovely for everyone who doesn't mind the insta but, unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

The Rich Boy is a new standalone by Kylie Scott that was such a delight to read. It was a really sweet and swoon worthy, fairytale type, slow-burn romance that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. I was completely swept up in this story, these characters and their journey to happily ever after.
Alice is working as a waitress when the gorgeous new busboy starts flirting with her. He couldn't possibly be into her... Could he? She's just your average run-of-the-mill girl. But after much persistence, she finally agrees to go out with him. I mean after all, he's funny, sexy and sweet, and can quote Austen like no other.
The two go on a few fun dates before he is called home to Denver. He wants her to come with him, but she flat out turns him down. Though later she has a change of heart and flies out to be with him. Folks, this is where the real entertainment begins. Welcome to the world of the wealthy complete with a crazy family, a mean scheming grandma and a jealous ex-girlfriend.
LOVED IT! This story was so well written. Kylie Scott took this trope and made it her own. Both Alice and Beck were endearing. I couldn't help but to fall head over heels for these two. The fire between them shined bright. And the writing, the pacing, the dialogue... I felt like everything was solid. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's looking for complete enjoyment. I believe it's a read that will appeal to the masses. Five stars for Alice, Beck and The Rich Boy.

Das Buch spielt im Zeitraum von einem Monat was es noch unrealistischer macht als es ohnehin schon ist.
Dadurch ist auch die Geschwindigkeit komplett off. Es wäre schön gewesen, hätte sich die Autorin mehr Zeit gelassen und wenn das Buch generell länger gewesen wäre, da ich die Alice & Beck eigentlich echt gerne zusammen mochte und sie super süß waren.
Die Hörbuchsprecherin war okay, aber auch nichts besonderes. Manchmal hat sie die Stimmen von Charakteren nachgemacht und es dann wieder verpeilt und "normal" vorgelesen, so dass ich nicht wusste, ob jetzt geredet oder erzählt wird.
Ich mochte Alice gerne, sie lässt sich nichts sagen und kann sich durchsetzen - ist jetzt aber auch kein Proll oder gemein zu anderen. Mein Problem war nur, dass sie die anderen Charaktere ziemlich schnell verurteilt hat, nur, weil sie reich sind. Dabei kannte sie sie gar nicht und möchte selbst nicht gejudged werden.
Das Buch hat sich irgendwie stressig angefühlt, dadurch wie viel passiert ist in so kurzer Zeit. Für mich gab es ab dem Mittelteil des Buches auch zu wenig süße Szenen die die zwei zusammen hatten. Eigentlich ist jeder Tag gleich abgelaufen. Es gab zu viel Fokus auf den Umstand, dass sich Alice noch eingewöhnen muss und wie schwer die Umstellung für sie ist.
Na klar ist das wichtig aber ich hätte mir dennoch mehr Dates oder Ähnliches zwischen ihr und Beck gewünscht. So verlief ihre Beziehung ziemlich geradlinig und Spannungen kamen eher durch die Probleme im "Alltagsleben".
Dadurch dass die zwei dann auch gar nicht so viel Zeit miteinander hatten, war das Ende so absurd unrealistisch, dass mir die Augen in den Hinterkopf gerollt sind und stecken geblieben sind. Dafür muss ich natürlich das Buch schlechter bewerten, was mir sogar ein bisschen wehtat. Wobei es nicht ganz so klassisch war wie ich das erwartet habe und das Drama sich in Grenzen gehalten hat.
Trotzdem wurde hier, wie auch bei dem ganzen Rest von Buch, der Konflikt zu schnell gelöst.
Hinzu kommen noch die wahnsinnig lustigen Sexszenen. Ich glaub, oder hoffe, dass das an der Übersetzung lag aber wenn jemand so mit mir reden würde wäre ich trockener als die Sahara und genau so weit weg lmao
Die Nebencharaktere, also hauptsächlich Becks Familie war in Ordnung, aber ein bisschen arg Klischee belastet. Keiner hatte jetzt sonderlich Tiefe. Und ja es wurde versucht, dass Alice eine Beziehung zu ihnen aufbaut aber da ging auch jede Szene viel zu schnell vorbei. Es hat sich so angefühlt, als hätte die Autorin das so geplant aber keine Ahnung wie sie es umsetzen sollte also gabs immer einen Konflikt den Alice dann gelöst hat und schwubdiwups mochte sie jeder.
Die Oma war einfach nur absurd.
Außerdem würde ich gerne mal die super fancy Spendengala sehen die Bibliotheken angeblich veranstalten um Geld zu bekommen. Weiß nicht wie das in Amerika ist, wirkt aber trotzdem ziemlich sus auf mich.

I am going to give this a solid 4.8 stars
This tale of rich and poor, proper boy meets popper girl will melt your heart. Need I say she was curvy, i.e. real life size person. And as a reader it was never really apparent. See whenever I read a book about a fat chick, the book is always centered around her fat. Not this. In fact, the heroine rarely felt bad about her body and this my friend is huge progress.
Kylie weaves a tale about Beck and Emma getting to know each other. You watch their love unfold. The process is different yet the same, the falling in love part. But there is a magic to their story that is unique. I won't retell the story, just know it's a worthy read.

As much as I love Kylie Scott's writing, this book is about as unrealistic as it can be. I mean don't we all fantasized about a hot busboy really being a billionaire, sweeping us off our feet and being totally in love with us? *Insert eye roll*
Don't get me wrong, the story was enjoyable to read. Beck is pretty awesome but I liked how Alice stuck to her own ideals and didn't get swept up into the world of the rich.
However, I do wish more was written about "why" Beck felt Alice was the one and why he felt the need to hide things from her.
The story is about Alice fitting into Beck's world, how they deal with things and how they figure out what works for them...and what doesn't.
What was really enjoyable was Beck's brothers! There definitely needs to be stories for both Ethan and Henry.
I would recommend this is you’re looking for a sweet romance with just a smidge of angst. And if you're an Austen fan...that's even better.

The Rich Boy is a classic case of an enjoyable first half of a book that then just fizzles. I just lost interest and the second have was much harder to read. I will always love Kylie Scott and this sure won’t stop me from reading more. I love that she writes heroines a lot of the time that are like me. I do see potential of more books from this world including a second chance between a married couple that I’m dying for already.

So, I read the last sentence, swiped to get to the next page/chapter/epilogue and it was a list of Kylie Scott's other books and my only thought was "WHAT????" To say I am disappointed is an understatement. We time jumped at the end and I feel like Beck and Alice didn't get a HEA, it was HFN.
Maybe we will revisit these characters in other books, because there is room for that with Ethan and Henry, and then I will get the resolution I was craving.
Ultimately, this was not my favorite book by Kylie Scott, but I still enjoyed it :)

I did enjoy this book overall. The romance is fast paced and moves really quickly, but super slow in terms of their physical intimacy. I found myself really loving this story until about the last 2 hours of the audio. I began to loose interest, and there were some moments with Beck and Alice that I found a bit cringe worthy.
Overall, I loved Beck, but there are moments we was a bit weak for my liking. I preferred Alice’s strength, but even she had moments of weakness and acknowledged them.
The narrators were great. I really enjoyed their voices and story telling.

After having a fall out with his father, Beck decides to take some time away from his family and heads to California for six months. He ends up working in a quiet neighbourhood bar and this is where he meets Alice. They don’t know much about each other but instantly click and Beck decides that she will be his future wife. They have lots of fun banter and Beck nicknames her ‘wifey.’

They only spend a short amount of time together, maybe two weeks, before Beck has to return home to Denver after a sudden death in his family. It takes a while but Alice begins to explore ways he can use it to do good for people and organisations in need. She may have found her forte in Denver.

‘First last night and now this… he’s making a mess of my heart. I don’t know what to say. I’m too busy just breathing and not being all overemotional at his casual declaration.’
These two are falling for each other and everyday the bond between them grows. However, someone in the family wants her gone and when some truths about Beck are spilled, Alice wonders if she ever really knew him and how she so easily trusted him. This rich boy is about to learn the hardest lesson in life, you can’t buy your way out of everything. Honesty comes at a price and it’s not cash.
I loved the banter between Beck and Alice, they were perfect for each other. Beck was so out of his element with her but he knew he had to have her in his life, no matter what. This was such a different sort of story from Kylie but one I loved.

This is a sweet story about love at first sight. Beck is a man that is used to getting everything handed to him. When he turns his back on privileged life, he realizes that the best things are worth working for. Alice is just an ordinary girl who has struggled through life at a job she hates. Meeting Beck is something that she is excited about. When Beck has to leave to return home, he decides that he wants Alice with him. She goes but is surprised to learn that he is very wealthy. Living in this lifestyle is not something that comes easy to her and they both need to make compromises. I really like everything about this story, but the ending left me wanting a more stable forever for them. I would love to see more of these two again in the future.

Starts out cute and their banter is fun and flirty. But at around 20% of the way in, when we find out that he’s American royalty, a billionaire, and the 2nd most eligible bachelor in the state of Colorado, the story, imo, seems to degenerate.
Like Alice, I as the reader, got swept, almost dragged into Beck’s Kardashian-like life. I’m not sure what’s going on. Neither is Alice. But she just willingly quit her job and packed up to join and then live with with a billionaire.
She says she’s uncomfortable and she’s not a gold digger. She’s staying for Beck, because of who he is and their connection.
Ummm. Suuuuuure. Bec if she leaves him, there’s no story. Anywaaaay...
80% in to the story, Alice finds out that Beck lied to her about everything. Her new job. The stray cat he found that they took in. Everything! The betrayal, to her, is HUGE! But when Beck apologizes, he literally gets on his knees, clutches her knees, and somehow ends up eating her out!!!! Yep, she consents to oral sex. But she’s still sooooooooo mad.
Suuuuuuuuure.
She’s spineless and insecure. He’s dumb. I’ve got no respect for MC’s like these two. Sorry.
Oh! One last absurd-to-me thing: he calls her “beloved” all the time —- which made me think of the vampire PNR’s I love to read. Just seemed like an abnormal thing for a 26yr old male to pick as an endearment. Unless, of course, he was really a vampire. Which would then explain how he and his family were obscenely wealthy. Hahahaha
I’m bummed that I paid for this book. But oh well. Can’t win them all. Sorry to the fans. This isn’t the kind of Cinderella story I like.

Wow I absolutely loved this.
Beck and Alice.
Bit unusual start but it made me laugh so much.
Beck is so darn adorable.
In the beginning it's hard to tell if he's being serious but he is all in with Alice from the get go.
Alice is a strong heroine, she stands up to him and all the issues she comes up against.
Angst in the form of family interference and a bitchy ex, plus several wannabe types.
Grovel when he messes up.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. The intimacy slow burn.
No cheating. No flirting with others.
HEA.
