Painfully boring. At this point I should probably give up on my attempts to read omegaverse altogether, since I simply fail to see the allure of the whole rutting and knotting thing. 💀 Sex-crazed characters are not my scene, I relish the slow melting of ice around the characters' ovaries. 🤡

The hero, Maxheim, possessed those very few traits I look for in male characters, namely: insane jealousy, unreasonable possessiveness, unyielding control, murderous tendencies and easily indulged willingness to slash any bitch that poses threat to his female.

Did I like him? I had to copy past his name from the blurb, he imprinted himself on my memory that much. Maxheim can waste his charm on someone else. 🥰

I literally have nothing to say about either Tess, besides the unlucky coincidence of her being an annoyingly indecisive when it came to giving her vote of credit wench with violet eyes OR the plot that is a jumbled mess (tautology says hi) of incomprehensible alphas, omegas and betas I didn't give a single flying fuck about doing things (chasing, killing, abducting, selling, rutting, saving... I'm exasperated, you see) I had no interest in reading about. 👏🏻🤡

As far as I'm concerned, the relationship dynamics in romance needs to be riveting to keep my interest in anything besides it alive. Straightforward, obvious and safe from scratch?? MY NERVE CELLS WANT TO DIE A SLOW, AGONISING DEATH BEFORE THEY RESURRECT IN THE FACE OF satisfying HAPPILY EVER AFTER at the end. I didn't scream that last sentence, by the way. 🥰

DNF @ 66%

I’ve been trying to read this for over a month now, but just can’t seem to get into it. It’s baffling, actually, as this should be checking all my boxes. I can’t quite figure out why, but I’m just bored. And I don’t really care for “Tessie” and/or the way the story is going. I don’t like how her loyalty and attention is so divided. And at 66% the plot has gone hardly anywhere.

But shrugs, I’m sure this one is just me. Happens.

Savage Prince is book two in the Ruthless Warlords series by Alison Aimes. I’ve been in love with this series since the first book. These books take place in a parallel Alphaverse galaxy. It’s dark and dangerous. But these Skolov siblings have stolen my heart. This is Maxheim’s book.

Maxheim Skolov considers himself to be the “fixer” of the family. When there is a problem with any of his siblings, he solves it. His family’s safety is all that matters to him. And now, finding the long lost twins that were stolen from them when they were infants. Maxheim is cold, ruthless and completely driven. Now that his older brother is mated, he tries to take as much of the responsibility onto his own shoulders as he can. It’s on a mission, though, that everything changes. That he finds…her!!!

Tess is an omega slave. She has a rare and deadly gift and is forced to use it against her will. Her life is dismal and not worth living except that the other female slave’s survival rests on her shoulders.

In this world, every alpha has one fated mate, an omega made just for him. Some alphas avoid such a match because once you bond with your fated mate, everything else fades away. Your mate becomes the focus of your entire world, all that matters. Maxheim knows right away that he has found her and in that instant, his world is rearranged. She is his laser focus, her survival, her happiness, her pleasure. It’s all that matters. Only, for some reason, Tess doesn’t seem as willing to bond with him!

“I will always find a way to light your way and keep you from the dark.”

Tess might be a tiny omega but she is strong and determined. She has never known anyone that wanted to care for her in the way Maxheim does. She struggles to trust that his motives are pure. Her survival instinct tells her to run. But her heart wants to believe that this could be real.

“You are my compass and my road home, my foundation and my pinnacle, my beginning and my end, my heart and my soul.”

Tess and Maxheim are trying to adjust to being fated mates but at the same time, everything possible is threatening both them and Maxheim’s family. Of course, Maxheim wants to bear the entire burden on his own shoulders but Tess isn’t having it.

This book, just as the previous book, keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I loved watching Maxheim evolve after finding Tess. He is so hard and cold but after he found Tess, he became absolutely swoony! These two together burned up the pages. I truly love this family and their commitment to each other, the way they interact. I never thought I would fall in love with a world like this one but I have and I can’t wait for the next book which will be Alexi’s book, Broken Heir.

Edit: I'm editing my initial 4 star review to 3 stars. I need to be honest with myself. This book simply did not captivate me as much as Ruthless King and was again too long. There were periods that I had to push myself to finish it. Anytime I feel the urge to skim I can't justify a 4 star rating. A valid criticism is that the author writes books that are too long. I totally get other readers becoming bored in this series. The writing isn't tight and the author over explains scenes. That said, this is a fully-fleshed out world and the author is talented. The world she has created here is vibrant. I do like this Omegaverse and will read the rest of the series.

*****

She was in grave trouble. Because this male was not just some new arrival, he was Maxheim Skolov: second-in-command of one of the most powerful crime families in the galaxy. The exacting mastermind behind the empire. And he was here to kill her for what she’d done to his fellow Brotherhood members. The darkness inside her returned with a vengeance.

Savage Prince was fast-paced, action-packed, intense, and smokin' hot :-) The key qualities that describe Alison Aimes' writing style are all present here: electric, energetic, & compelling. While this book has dark elements (, the overall story has heart. The H is an alphahole, but one who caves to his Omega. Omegaverse readers who like dominating/possessive Alphas will love Maxheim. I found him very likable. I loved Tess. I like that she came from an underprivileged background. I felt the author delved into her psychology, and really thought about how someone like Tess would have learned to survive & cope in her circumstances. She has a cynical exterior, but vulnerable core.

I was delighted to see a Dread Pirate Roberts twist in the plot regarding the villain!

description

Those who have watched The Princess Bride & have read this book will hopefully get my meaning. I'm not elaborating to prevent spoiling :)

Btw the word Mine in this book is basically the equivalent of this:

description

Maxheim totally goes caveman around Tess, but in reality he's putty in her hands and will go to great lengths to have her.

Overall I recommend this book to Omegaverse readers, especially those who like scifi or mafia - and especially those who like this kind of Alpha/omega trope. The author is nailing it in this series.

Trigger Warnings:
Safety:
HEA: Yes. This book is a standalone & ends with a HEA.

*Note: While this book can be read first in the series (this is a standalone series) you'll get more context and backstory regarding the twins, the Skolov brothers, and the Brotherhood if you've at least read book 1, Ruthless King. With that said, if you start with this book you'll understand the main romance between the couple just fine - they both meet for the first time in this book. Just other elements to the plot that I mentioned above first start to develop in book 1.

Good alien romance omegaverse story with duet narration!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌍
Character development: 😊😅🤨🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The Hero: Maxheim Skolov - he was born an alpha male in the Anarcheim Alphaverse. Maxheim is brother to Nikolai Skolov, the head alpha boss of the Skolov clan in the Brotherhood syndicate. At the end of the last book, they all found out that their twin siblings whom they thought were killed in a fire when they were babies, were instead stolen and are probably still alive. They also found that some unknown alpha was behind a failed coup attempt on the Brotherhood.

The heroine: Tess - she was born an omega and grew up as a slave. She and her best friend Rav lived on the streets, the forgotten. They were born of alpha males without a house name. After they were caught, Tess was drugged in an attempt to bring out her gift to demand a higher price. Her friend Rav later turned out to be the same silver skinned man who took the Skolov twins years ago.

The Story: Maxheim was always the dependable right-hand man to his older brother Nikolai, he was the fixer of the family. Though recently he has been a bit scattered. He had been trying to track down the silver skinned man who took their twin siblings over fifteen years ago and who was working for the man behind the coup attempt on the Brotherhood. When Dahlia had a vision of Tess and Rav as children, Maxheim immediately showed signs of being fated mates with Tess.

I liked Maxheim, he was complicated and brutal. He had a former relationship with an omega who was killed and though he wasn’t in love with her, he felt guilty for her death since it was by a gang that did it to get back at the Skolov family. Also, he just committed to a deal with a rival family from the Brotherhood in which he would make one of their daughters his prime omega. He didn’t want to find Tess, though he did find her at a rowdy slave auction.

Tess was a slave, sold at auction over and over by her owner, for short amounts of time. She still had her gift, and it was a doozy. For every bit of pain an alpha caused her, the alpha got unimaginable bliss, but the bliss was short lived, and they ended up paying the price with their lives. She wanted nothing more than to save the young omegas and Rav who were also owned by Aldar, the same man that owns her.

The story was really good, and I liked both characters. I saw quite a few reviews where the reviewers didn’t really like Tess, but I thought she was interesting and genuine. Like the first book, this one was super steamy, though after listening to the two audiobooks in a row, it was a bit too much for me. I ended up fast forwarding through many of the intimate scenes. I wanted more story and less smut.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter. They are two of my favorite narrators. Jason has a deep gravelly voice which is perfect for a mafia boss, and he is fantastic at dirty talk, which I love. Stella has a soft but clear voice which is very pleasant, and she she is great at showing emotion through her voice.

REVIEW
I love a matebond, especially when the MMC is so quick to accept it. He was ready to die to protect her from day one, and I was giggling about it.

The plot from Ruthless King is extended into this one, but it’s not until the end that it advances. While a lot happened in the novel action-wise, the overarching plot moved at a snail’s pace. Since so much of the angst hinged on this, it made the story feel dragged out and repetitive.

The building of the story and development of the relationship was nicely done and made for a compelling read. I will be starting the next book here shortly and then the next and then—

OW/OM DRAMA minor OM — Maxheim is jealous of an alpha who is friends with Tess; while the OM has feelings, she never has
CHEATING none
THIRD ACT BREAKUP not really but there is tension that is promptly communicated through
ENDING HEA — epilogue in different POV but is set shortly in the future

Oh sweet, uptight control freak Maxheim. I feel your pain, I too am the control freak of my family. Knowing the only reason everything isn't going to hell, is cause we're pulling all the strings tight keeping everything going and moving about how it should....Until we hit that unforeseen snag.

Nothing like finding your fated mate AND she's part of the syndicate killing brotherhood members you've been after. Like the MAIN killer and like super besties with the silver douche bag you've been searching for that kidnapped your twin brother and sister 15 years ago!! Yeah...

Poor sweet Tesstala, 'Tess', was being exploited. Her sweet and compassionate heart was being being twisted and used against her. Her love and trusting nature was misplaced on the worst backstabbers surrounding her. Using her in ways she could never have comprehended. Until she's 'rescued' by her fated mate Maxheim, and he shows her a whole new way of living.

I loved how Maxheim gave himself over to his relationship with Tess and everything it would entail, entirely. 100%. He didn't care what might happen, he would make a way. He was so protective of Tess and wanting her to know what it is like to be pampered, treated as an equal, and treated with love.

“Tess.” his grip tightened. “Love doesn’t even begin to cover what I feel for you. It’s relentless. Savage. Primitive. It’s breath and blood and life.”
Her heart trembled in her chest.
His grip tightened, scowl deepening. “So, don’t fucking ask me to give you up. I won’t.”

Jess-i-ca ~Sometimes a Gif Witch~ (Bossier City, LA)'s review of Ignite Me

Tess, who's never had any notion of having what Maxheim is offering, is scared to let go and dive in because she's just waiting for the other shoe to drop and everything to be ripped away.

I never thought I’d be one of the lucky ones. But that’s what it feels like.” She clutched her treasure closer. “That’s what it feels like to be yours"

Not to mention the 3 separate entities that are trying to steal her away and kill Maxheim and all the Skolovs. She knows that in life we rarely get what we want and love isn't always enough.

The ups and downs in this one, the tension, had my emotions all over the place. I loved Maxheim and Tess. I loved how they each were what the other needed to break free from their shackles and live. How they gave each other the ability to let go and love, and have something for themselves. Maxheim and Tess fought and built trust, doing what it took to create that strong foundation for an unshakable future. And I must say, I love how I was pleasantly surprised by Maxheim. How he had forced Tess into a corner, and I thought oh I know how this is gonna go, he's forcing her hand she gonna go do what we all don't want her to do....but instead Maxheim, like a responsible adult man, went and got down on his knees and begged for Tess's forgiveness.

This was so good! It was emotional, suspenseful, and steamy as all get out. I can't recommend this series enough!!

I didn't like Tess, but I sure did like this story.
I couldn't get enough of Maxheim.
I enjoyed some more of the world building and what all of the characters added to the big story (even the bad guys).
I loved how dedicated Max was to his omega. Who can resist an Alpha who can be weak and vulnerable for his mate? I know I can't.

I do wish that Tess wasn't so hard to like. She fought, which I liked. I do love strong females, but she fought too hard against Max, who had already shown how much he cared and was willing to do to make her happy. What more could he really do to illustrate how great of a male he was? Why did she feel the need to keep lying, hiding, fighting, etc.? It got repetitive, hurtful, and boring, which was unexpected because this author has amazed me with everything I've read.

Not to say I wasn't still amazed. I obviously was. But this wasn't my favorite story of the series.

I really want to see what happens next. Is the Sartin female Alexi's fated mate? Will they find their twin siblings? And who is this secret saboteur who has been pulling the strings and wreaking havoc on the Brotherhood, especially my beloved Skolovs?

"I Choose You."
A Savage yet beautiful Addition to this epic series!
An Unputdownable Sci-fi romance with Heart-pounding Action & Danger, Sinfully Hot lust, Heartaching Hurts, Betrayal, Trust, Truths, Hope & Healing, Vulnerable Emotions, Twists, Smarts, Drama & Fun, Beautiful Swoons, Heartfelt Love, An Ingenious Showdown, A cherished HEA & I'm Pumped up for More!
This book gripped me, made me feel it all. I love Maxheim & Tess so much, Their Bravery strengthens me. I DEVOURED this in 8hrs, Alison you did it again!💘

This story takes place in Anarcheim, a parallel Alphaverse galaxy, With Varied Alien life. Alphas lead, betas serve, and omegas submit. Where violence is a way of life, power is essential to survival, and crime is king.
(Loving the World building & Character Development!)

"They were two souls from very different worlds, twisted and remade by life’s challenges, who fit together perfectly."
Maxheim & Tesstala both lived harsh lives. Max & his Siblings only had eachother after a tragedy, grew from nothing to Mafia "Royalty". Tess is an orphan, captured. For years, her "Owner" abused her deadly omega power, & She let's him, to keep her friends safe & alive.
"She might not know it yet, but she needed him. Just as he needed her."

"He was calculating and savage and unquestionably ruthless, but never cruel."
Maxheim Skolov (2nd eldest brother, Alpha) is the fixer (& Inventor) of their family & Empire. The Investigation/Search for enemy & their long-lost twin Siblings' going on. This takes them to an illegal Auction, Where Tess is too. Cue an uproar, Killer instinct, Undeniable Bond...Plans fractured & remade, Their world forever realigned & refocuses...On eachother.
"Beautiful chaos. That’s what she was."

“...From you, I want what’s given, not seized. Earned, not stolen.”
Max+Tess are blazing fire, Sinful lust, Inevitable, Fated. But also...Enemies (Cue fun Banters!). After all, She's friends to Rav, the one they're after, her Fellow slave. But then they're targeted (F'ing Feds!), Dearest Betrayals & Truths Found...Dangers bring them closer.
"...this male, who should have been her enemy, kept being her ally and her anchor."

"He understood her needs and didn’t judge. His command truly was her pleasure, their interests aligned."
This story has NO dull moment, So Fast-paced! Their trust builds through adventures (Ooh, Death Squad!). She's cautious, but he's in for the long haul. He Romances her, Breaks her walls; She Cares for him, Gentle & Kickass! Feelings grow, Attacks Escalate, Tension for future, Will they ever get to just BE?
“What’s between us, baby. It’s the kind of light that will never dim.”

"She was his. And he was hers."
When the two finally get to Max's home planet, I adore how she's accepted by his family easily! I love that M+T get some down time, to let their Fated mate bond bind tighter (Doc gives fun insights!). Their Happiness, Fun & Love Confessions so sweet❤.
I'm glad that the Skolov bros open up to eachother😍, Plus the scenes with Nikolai+Dahlia's newborn are adorable!
"He was so fierce and powerful, but he treated her soul with such gentleness. Who could not fall for a male like that?"

"She was breaking apart. And being built back together. Flung into space and beyond. Set free in a way she had never expected. She was cared for. Safe. Claimed."
Tess & Max changed eachother for the better, Brighter. Heated the cold, Lighted the dark. But the threats against her might unravel it all.
His Fixing, Protective nature & Overworking made a divide; He kept things to protect her, so did she then. They almost–DID–break...But Realisations, Apologies & Faith brought Max+Tess together stronger!
“...You are my mooring. You are my compass and my road home, my foundation and my pinnacle, my beginning and my end, my heart and my soul.”

Together the Whole Skolov family executes an Ingenious plan, Awesome Showdown! Entirely surprising, with Action & Twists! I loved that Max & Tess were together throughout😀. Then finally the obsessed Villain's annihilated, An Ex-friend sacrifices, Freeing confessions happen & new clues reveal! I'm also relieved that the other Slaves are saved.

"Maxheim was done putting off all his happiness for a later rotation. Life was too short. His time with Tess too precious to waste."
Max & Tess deserved their HEA, Their joy warms me💘. The ending & Epilogue are lovely!
But With still much to uncover...And, ooh, Wtf did Alexi (3rd Skolov brother) just do?! I'm so excited for his book next!!

Outstanding!!! After reading book 1, I could not wait to get my hands on Maxheim Skolov!!! I needed him like I needed my next breath.

Alison Aimes has WOWed me once again with her talented words, amazing storytelling, and her brilliant mind. After the first chapter I was hooked, pulled in, and I never wanted to leave. I wanted to stay in this dark mafia omegaverse world and leave reality behind.

This story was everything I’d hoped for and everything I needed it to be. It was raw and gritty, full of lies and betrayal and suspense and all the sizzling sparks and delicious feels and fated mate goodness that makes my heart beat faster.

Maxheim Skolov, one of the most powerful, badass crime lords, is on a mission. He’s a caretaker, the fixer, his goal is to find the twins and destroy anything and anyone who gets in his way. My gawd he is sexy AF when he’s angry and determined.

Being a slave her whole life, Tess doesn’t know how to act when she’s rescued, treated with kindness and respect, and given choices. Especially when it’s Maxheim Skolov. He’s not the type to give away such gestures.

Her whole world is turned upside down. Trust doesn’t come easy for her. She’s so confused, overwhelmed, and maybe a bit… hopeful.

Watching Tess change from that first time Maxheim saw her in the cage, to all the times he protects hers every chance he gets, to the time he begs for her forgiveness…

Oh. My. Goodness.
I could feel everything.
I felt his power.
I sensed his rage.
I experienced his pain.
His love was intense and his passion was scorching hot. I felt that, too.

MY HEART.
It now belongs to Maxheim.

He made me want to present, made me want to purr, and I wanted him to tell me what to do. I would happily do it. I would be his omega ANY. DAY.

His patience with Tess made me swoon hard.
His kindness was heartwarming.
His protectiveness gave me warm fuzzies.

Not only was Maxheim sexy AF and making me want to do…anything, but his brothers… My goodness those Skolov men are fierce and intense and powerful and so fucking HOT. I’ve got Alexi and Damian in my sights and can’t wait to devour their stories.

I just knew Savage Prince was going to have my heart pounding from cover to cover. I knew the characters were going to steal my heart. I knew this author would deliver in all the delicious ways to make me happy and satisfied.

Again I am blown away.
Again I had my socks rocked right off. And once again, I’m anxiously awaiting more. I need Alexi’s story yesterday.

Omega pleasure slave with a deadly gift & Alpha Crime Boss on a revenge path ✨ TENS TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!!

“Thanks to her so-called gift, for every moment of pain she suffered, the Alpha experienced unimaginable bliss and intense sexual pleasure. At least at first.”

Tessie 🩶
✔️ silver-skinned glitter queen!
✔️ OMEGA!
✔️ defiant rebel
✔️ pleasure slave (kind of!)

Maxheim ♥️
✔️ Alpha Crime Boss
✔️ ruthless & uncompromising
✔️ fiercely protective
✔️ the cutest teddy bear to his mate!
✔️ drop-dead gorg (evidence: the book cover)

Tessie is a former slave who has indirectly killed many soldiers and now she feels undeserving of Alpha’s kindness. It’s up to Maxheim to show her his heart is true & that he will never leave her side ❤️‍🔥 THIS ALPHA IS DOWN BAD FOR HIS MATE!!! ❤️‍🔥 I almost died when he brushed her hair!!!!!!!!! He is so so sweet but also obviously Alpha (lol) which just results in the most delicious non con with praise!!

“You can shut me out. Attempt to retreat. It won’t work. I’ll drag you to the point of pleasure, to the edge of need, as many times as it takes for that stubborn, scared mind of yours to understand. You belong here. With me”

“You taste like every good dream I’ve ever had.”

The storyline is fantastic and reads really well! While this is a standalone it’s best read in order of the series since it has a substantial side plot. Think…family tragedy, blackmail, murder, and secrets 🤫

This omega is used by a criminal group of swindlers to rob and kill people through her special abilities. Her alpha, Maxheim, finds her while seeking to end these criminals. He is a prince of the federation and he makes her a princess.
What I don't like about this omegaverse is that there are true mates but alphas seldom find their true mate or choose to pursue a relationship with their true mate in order to not be tied down to one omega. And say, that an alpha is in a relationship with his omega and they have a family but he finds his true mate...then what? It's messy.
Also, there is too much character development in these books. Her inner thoughts are mostly her just convincing herself of how great Maxheim is and how he can provide her with stability. I'm more into the unspoken chess game between alpha and omega. Too lovey dovey, too much groveling from the alpha and too much tender affirmations. xD

Wahoo! What a great way to spend the evening! In this world there are Alphas who lead, Betas who follow and Omegas who submit. Tess is an Omega and wants out of her nightmare of a situation, along with her friends. I was immediately taken with Tess, her strength and her desire to help others. She is being used for her “gift” to hurt others and even though she doesn’t want to, she doesn’t have a choice in the matter. In comes Maxheim, not your typical Alpha, but all Alpha in all the ways we want in this well written romance. He has been working hard to write a wrong from years past and Tess is not what he needs right now. It messes up all his plans. Yet, Maxheim is much happier with Tess. He does all he can to keep her. I really enjoyed the story line and how it progressed. A few pleasant surprises along the way that made the romance story line unique. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next book in the series. Highly recommend.

This is the second in Ms. Aimes' Omegaverse series set in a galaxy far, far away. Corrupt governments, warring mafia families, and Alpha/Omega dynamics make Anarchy Anarcheim a dangerous place to live, and few survive unscathed. Although this is a standalone in terms of the couple, the siblings we follow, most of the world-building, and one over-arching line of action were introduced first in Ruthless King.

Here, we get second brother, control-freak Maxheim, and Tess, the slave he falls in love with. Although their attraction is very Omegaverse-instant, will Tess' close relationship with the man who nearly destroyed Maxheim's family tear them apart?

I enjoyed this book and recommend it highly -- particularly if you like Omegaverse, but don't like how brutally Alphas treat their Omegas in many of them. Maxheim clearly adores Tess, will do anything for her, and never harms her. I also appreciate that Omegas have more agency in this series than they usually do; thus, Tess is equally appealing: her deprived childhood, low caste, and problematic "gift" make it difficult for her to trust Maxheim's feelings; once she does, it was a pleasure watching her come into her own -- finding happiness she never thought she'd have and a strength she didn't know she possessed. The MC, in fact, is this book's strength. Omegaverse is often saturated with long descriptions of animalistic sex (don't worry, some are present here), but, in order to invest in a couple, I need to see some other connection between them; this occurs here when each helps the other process past traumas in healthier ways. Finally (in terms of the couple), their conflict was organic, high-stakes, and seemingly insurmountable since it rests on competing loyalties -- which held this reader's interest throughout.

The rest of the narrative was equally compelling: we find out more about the main mystery and the book ends with a couple of twists I didn't see coming. There are also a couple of poignant emotional moments that, while some were difficult to read, added depth to the usual Omegaverse/Mafia generic tropes.

This would easily have been a five-star rating without the constant repetition that led to unnecessary length -- the same problem I had with the previous book. I wish that authors understood that readers really can retain information: I didn't, for example, need to be reminded of Tess's motivations quite so many times, read another scene of Maxheim's siblings dissecting his personality, or told so often that the family's position within the Brotherhood was difficult.

4 stars. Third brother Alexi will get the next book. Note: The masks at the beginning have new meaning in the age of Covid.

4.75 stars!

This is the second book in the Ruthless Warlords series and I LOVED IT. This story features Tess and Maxheim. Maxheim and his brothers are on a mission to find their twin siblings that were taken from them when they were young. Maxheim is the fixer of the family and shoulders most of the burdens, guilt and stress that he thinks he has to carry. His reputation is that of a cold Alpha with a singular focus on revenge, dominance and destruction of his enemies. Until he runs into Tess at a slavers auction while looking for information.

Maxheim who never saw himself taking a mate ends up realizing that Tess is his fated mate and he will do anything to bind her to him forever. She may also be the key to discovering more information about his lost siblings. But Tess has secrets and her own doubts about herself and her abilities. Tess' Omega gift is rare and deadly and her whole life she has been used as a pawn and a killer. Can Maxheim convince Tess that he is worth taking a chance on? Can Tess come to realize the power she carries can be used for good and embrace a bright and hopeful future with Maxheim? Will the Skolovs get closer to locating their siblings? What will happen with the changing political landscape?

This story was filled with action, secrets, revenge, heat and revelations. I adored Maxheim...he was dominant, possessive, obsessive...just how I like my alpha males. His relationship not only with his family but Tess was just so swoony I almost couldn't handle it. Maxheim taught Tess that she is more than what people have labeled her to be and deserves everything and Tess taught Maxheim that he doesn't have to carry all the pain and guilt from the past. The only thing that bothered me about this story was how stubborn Tess was and how she always wanted to resort to being the sacrificial lamb. I wanted her to grow into her own just a little faster.

Overall, if you like Omegaverse with a super alpha male that worships the ground his omega walks on, an omega that is not just a wallflower and a steamy and action-packed plot then definitely pick this up. I CANNOT wait for the next book in this series...it's gonna be good I can tell.

My Review

I enjoyed this a lot it’s a Sci-fi fantasy omegaverse and part of a series this one is about the brother from the previous book Maxheim he’s the fixer of the family always in control of his emotions that is until he runs into his fated-mate in the most unexpected of places and she manages to turn his ordered world upside down.
Tess is an omega slave with a very powerful gift one she can use as a weapon when Maxheim appears at the latest omega auction on the trail of his sibling's kidnapper he instantly recognises her as his own and sets about claiming her.
Discovering then that their lives are more intertwined than they could realise and that there are others who also want Tess Maxheim definitely has his work cut out keeping her hidden and safe.
There’s a death squad on their tail and the brotherhood also wants Tess handed over for her part in their men’s deaths.

Maxheim surprised me the way he wanted Tess to choose him and not just take but also give and though his dominant protective nature sometimes got in the way of his sense he really did try to give Tess choices whenever possible winning her over with his care and obvious regard.
Tess was initially suspicious of course her background doesn’t breed trust easily and with further revelations coming forth about those she trusted blindly she does naturally start to question her own judgement.

This was intense and super hot these two had so much chemistry together it projected off the page.
Tess was actually quite reasonable she wasn’t a drama Queen which I liked she wasn’t one of those heroines that like to act stupidly and make rash decisions and I liked how she realised how lucky she was in Maxheim as a mate. her one flaw was not realising her own worth and thinking that her only value was that of a bargaining chip placing herself as less important. Maxheim well he was just so lickable and totally delicious.

This was a great addition to the series and I enjoyed it a lot, it was action-packed throughout and the heat levels were through the roof I definitely recommend this it’s very imaginative with some great world-building.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Savage Prince (Ruthless Warlords #2).

It wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be and as some reviewers pointed out, this could get/did get quite slow and boring at times but for me it was the perfect in the sense that the hero was great.

I don’t read omegaverse and I don’t read dark romance where the relationship between the two leads is dark. The thing is, I love dark romance but mostly what that means in this genre is that there is cnc, dub con, humiliating scenes, control/punishment type of situations etc, and I’d rather drink bleach than read about a “love story” like that. Ok, so having said that, I always look for dark stories where the element of darkness is outside the main relationship and this was one of them.

The hero was absolutely great and totally devoted to the heroine once he met her. Out of all the brothers he was the most quiet, reserved and emotionless one which makes his actions here even more telling. He appreciated the heroine for everything she was and he listened to her ideas, her plans etc. - I know it sounds like bare minimum but within the fiction world of this book, women are not seen or heard unless they need to be used for something. That’s literally how every man (father, brother, stranger) treats women so the fact that the hero doesn’t even contemplate his status as a man against her as a woman does give him a lot of points. Compared to the first book and the first hero this was great.

I do have one complaint thought. I have read and will read a lot of romance books with crude language and it doesn’t bother me. At all. I like the directness of it. But here, the language used goes beyond crude. And it’s like that in all 3 books. To be honest it’s gross. The same things can be said a little different, without censure but also without making me cringe while reading.

Anyway, I read the 3rd book by this point as well. And it’s very much like this one as opposed to being like the 1st one.

This was my first Alison Aimes read into a genre I haven’t dipped my toes into enough, so I’d like to thank Grey’s Promo for the opportunity to explore this diverse and fascinating genre.

Savage Prince is book two in the Ruthless Warlords series. If, like me, you’re diving into the series out of sequence fear not, you’ll pick up on everything just fine without feeling like you’re floundering for information usually fed to the reader during book one.

This book when invited to read it, promised an engaging enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, dark, mafia, sci-fi, paranormal romance. A lot to fit into one book, for sure. But not impossible. It’s all about balance to combine all of these things to produce a sensual, romantic, angsty, steamy book that quite literally, is out of this world. Alison has achieved said balance with Savage Prince.

As promised to us in the very book title, our main male is indeed, Savage, and is by far my favourite character besides his omega. Maxheim truly is an impressively complex character, you both want to rush to his side and give him a firm lashing with your tongue at the same time. He doesn’t conform to the typical alpha-male attitude, but becomes his true self when his omega comes into his life. This gives a very human-like quality to a very inhuman like male. Simply stellar!

One element I would like to praise especially, is the vastness and the expanse of how the story started out from caged beginnings, to where we leave the characters at the end of the book. As infinite as the sci-fi genre is, there also runs the risk of falling into the same storyline, plot and story arc. I’m always somewhat hesitant to read a sci-fi romance because of this. However, this was not the case with Savage Prince, and I couldn’t believe the places that I was taken during this read with the settings, scenes and events. More was packed into this book than the contents of Maxheim’s impressive laced trews, yet it didn’t feel overwhelming or that there was too much to digest. There was always something gripping and engaging to keep you turning those pages, rather than pausing for a breather.

I found it hard to put the book down to get a night’s sleep, as I wanted to keep journeying across the stars with our two main characters. Cannot praise Alison highly enough for reader-book engagement, fabulous work!

Which leads me onto my next point. Mystery. Just when I thought I had a plot twist figured out, I was caught completely by surprise by something that had been leaving me guessing until everything I thought I knew was turned upside down on its head. Where it’s nice to feel you can predict and guess points within the novel that will happen at a later date, it’s even more rewarding to be proven wrong, caught off guard and surprised. That, for me, is what makes a book truly interesting and I couldn’t keep my jaw closed a the moments of true shock and awe.

Savage Prince was prolific in both sad, tense, mysterious and steamy scenes that delivered so much more than the average novel. During the sad scenes, I wept tears along with our omega. During tense, angsty scenes, I was right up in my ebook shouting at our alpha as if he could hear me. During the steamy scenes, I grabbed my nearest fan an hunkered down to read some more. This is a book that truly has it all and has it all in spades, doing nothing by half measures.

To sum up, I’m really am glad that I took a chance on a read outside of my go-to genre. I’ve dabbled in the occasional sci-fi romance, only few of them 1% as steamy as Savage Prince, but none have left me as impressed and wanting to read more than this one.

Alison Aimes, you’ve earned yourself a new reader and one who’s looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. Five stellar stars for you!

I love returning to this dark mafia world with the large and in charge Alpha males!

Maxheim Skolov is known as the fix-it, controlled, detached brother. That was before he met his fated mate, Tess. While Maxheim is dominant to the core, he's also caring, considerate, and totally sweet, when he's not rutting, but really he's the total alpha package!

Maxheim needs to be on his toes because his omega gives him a run for his money. She is everything he needs, the perfect prime omega to stand by his side, but she will push every boundary he sets for her and he wouldn't want it any other way.

Tess has been a slave for most of her life. While she understands the omega way of life, she also doesn't want to put Maxheim or his family's life in jeopardy because of where she came from and what she's done. Tess isn't willing to just roll over and lie down, for the most part, but everytime she pushes back it's like catnip to her alpha. Everyone in the omegaverse is after her and while she wants to do the right thing, Maxheim only wants to protect her and what's his.

Spending time with the Skolov family gave me all the feels with lots of giddy happiness. Bonding between the two oldest brothers, now that they have something in common was fantastic, while still witnessing the two younger brothers enjoying their bachelorhood in pure naive fun was humorous.

Aimes has this world set up to perfection and returning is pure enjoyment at this point. I can hardly wait to see what's next for this family and for the continued adventure.

5 stars and another top tier book!

I didn’t think it’d be possible, but I think I loved this more than Ruthless King!? Maxheim and Tess’s story had me all 🥵🥺😢🥹😍, and the overarching plotline (which picks up where Ruthless King left off, so we’re in the same scifi mafia omegaverse) was both intense and gripping. This book grabbed my attention from the first chapter and did not let go.

I also highly recommend the audiobook which was narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter in duet - well worth the audible credit.

Savage Prince is book 2 in the Ruthless Warlords series by Alison Aimes and boy is it a scorching hot read. Alpha mafia royalty Maxheim Skolov is on the hunt for the person who kidnapped his twin siblings. Whilst on a mission he comes across Omega, Tess who is in a nightmare situation. Captured and forced to submit with her ‘special’ gift, she is making a lot of enemies and not everything is what it seems. Friends become enemies and both Max and Tess are thrown into the middle of it as they try to overcome their mating bonds, whilst trying to survive in a harsh and violent world.

Max was a really strong alpha and from the get-go, we see what he is willing to do for his family. Even with the introduction to Tess, he still has a plan to get his family back, although sometimes this is detrimental to him listening to what Tess wants and just steamrolling over her. Tess is a wonderful character who has been through so much. She is vulnerable but strong and even when truths come to light, she still keeps on fighting. Her attraction to Max may be instantaneous, but she isn’t going to let him dominate her…at least not too much!

This series reminds me a little bit of Lora Leigh’s Breed series and it is certainly as hot as them. Savage Prince kind of has everything that you would want in a book, actions, intrigue and red hot passion that leaves you wanting to mop your brow. The story was good and kept you wanting to turn the pages. I wouldn’t normally go for alien/mafia/omega-verse books, but this one was definitely good and made me want to continue reading the series.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

Was dying to read this for ages but was in a personal rut and didn't want to taint the story. Im. So glad I waited till I was Brand New again.

This was makheims story and wow wow wow. If i thought Ruthless King was an hot alpha brother, makheim just flew in there and took the trophy.... Holy moly!!!

This was an intense creative and such interesting world with great developed characters and an even better plot that continues on from Ruthless King..

Cannot wait for ALEXIS book.

Once again, Alison Aimes has stolen my heart, stirred by emotions, fired up my libido, and seared me clean--after all the wallowing I did in the dirty muck that is my imagination.

Savage Prince is, by far, the best book I've read in 2021.

Maxheim is my filthy, alpha dream. His brokenness, his heart, his loyalty, his love are woven together perfectly to make him into a sci-romance hero that sets the bar for all others. He owns me, and I am more than willing to bend over and beg for his knot. And his heart.

I have fallen for the Skolov brothers, and I cannot wait for Alexi and Damien's stories.

This is my favorite of the series to date
Packed with suspense, action, those awesome twists and betrayals that blindside you, and the smexist of romances

"You fear I can't give you what you want, but I'm here to promise I can" - Maxheim

This was such an emotional read - not in a tear your heart out angsty way - it was more that quiet strength that carries a soul through its darkest times. Hope but not in the traditional sense

Max and Tess ... *sigh*
They were like oil and water
They were opposites in so many ways yet every time something happened that would shake things up they became one unit
Each still an individual force to be reckoned with but together they were indivisible
Both protectors
Both fierce

Tess had only known heartbreak and subservience she was a slave as well as a tool. She had a plan to free herself and those she claimed as her "family'
It was the light at the end of her tunnel
Until him
Now things were not as clear as they had once been

Max had always been the fixer, the caretaker
He was going to find his siblings and destroy those who took them
His mind was solely focused on his mission
Until her
His control was teetering - His once singular focus shot

Both must choose the wrong choice could cost them their lives

Loved this book and I’m obsessed with this series. I’ve been looking forward to this book for so long and the author did not disappoint. Loyal, dedicated and possessive hero, strong heroine, lots of action and secrets, and super hot sexy times. I loved Tess and Maxhiem so much together. And the book coming in the series next…arranged marriage is my jam and I can’t wait! Bring on the next book!!!

(audiobook) That was everything I expected, and not at all, at the same time.

I’m familiar with omegaverses and I knew I’d find dubious consent–because heat–and anatomical specificities–because knot. The bond between Tess and Maxheim came with it too. And that’s where I enjoyed this whole aspect. Maxheim appears as cold and emotionally stunted at first. But once he meets Tess, he develops strong feelings that he can’t control and he can be very attentive.

Which is quite sweet since Tess has been a slave her whole life and has never had someone taking care of her like that. I loved the dynamics between those two, especially how Tess marvels at Maxheim’s behavior that is nothing like the other alphas she’s known.

The sexy times were HOT! Prepare a glass of cold beverage if you want to get through all of them. With the specificities mentioned above though.

Don’t expect too much SF in the book though. Sure, there are aliens and spaceships, and some high tech gadgets, but that’s clearly not something very developped. The omegaverse on one hand, and the mafia world on the other hand, take prominence. And with the mafia part comes the violence and the criminals. The little suspense that runs through the story was quite enjoyable.

The duet narration worked here, despite the 3rd person point of view, because there were a lot of conversations that needed strong emotions that could have been lost when the narrators tried to voice the other sex. They were both phenomenal. A very good audio!

Quickie

- Series: Ruthless warlords #2 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #SF romance #mafia romance #omegaverse #aliens #fated mates #virgin
- Triggers: lots of violence and abuse
- Main couple: Tesstala & Maxheim Skolov
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 3/5
- + the suspense was well done and gripping
- – I love sexy, but here, it felt a bit crude at times
