BOOK 5: THE CASE OF THE MISSING LETTER This is a quick read but a well-developed plot and characters. The storyline is complex with several sub-plots and red herrings are woven into the current mystery.
BOOK 6: THE CASE OF THE PRETTY LADY This is the sixth installment in the series, but the book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone mystery. This is a well-written mystery with several twists and turns along the way to the big reveal. The characters have grown over the series and we get to see them away from the job a little more in this book. The epilogues wrap up the story very nicely allowing us to see what happened after the crime is solved.
BOOK7: THE CASE OF THE FORSAKEN CHILD I loved reading this installment of An Inspector David Graham Mystery Series, my favorite in the series so far. The characters are entertaining and realistic. The story is engaging and keeps the reader guessing at whodunit. There is no shortage of suspects, and the clock is ticking to solve the mystery before the conference ends. I wanted to speed through the book to find out who was behind the mystery. I kept my cool and enjoyed the book at a normal pace. I am looking forward to the next installment.
I recommend these books to fans of the series as well as other cozy mystery fans. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.
I've been fortunate enough to be able to read all of the Inspector Graham books as a member of Ms. Golden's advanced reader team. I love helping authors that I enjoy and I have certainly enjoyed all of the Inspector Graham books. It is a fun series with great characters. The mysteries are always good with lots of red herrings to keep you guessing. If you like good mysteries, good settings, great characters and some laughs then you'll love this set.
So enjoyed this series. I appreciated the character growth of all players and the interesting roll out of DI Graham's remarkable recall gifts. In today's understanding of "quirks" we might feel there's a hint of autism spectrum at play? Also, the author has provided enough backstory to create a series for the early, formative career years of DI Graham.
In The Case of Sampson's Leap a young actress's death appears to be a suicide but after interviewing her companions Graham is not so sure.
In The Case of the Uncommon Witness Inspector Graham and his officers have to solve the murder of a man who on the surface has no enemies and therefore no reason for anyone to have murdered him. To make matters worse he died after stumbling into a bar so the location of the crime scene is not known. Graham and crew have their work cut out for them to locate the crime scene, find the murderer, and the motive.
The Body in the Block is possibly the most exciting book in this series. After a severe storm blew across the island leaving the White Inn badly damaged, a discovery in the attic leads to Inspector Graham and his team investigating a several decades old mystery. With little clues to aid them they call in aid from friends and colleagues from a variety of specialties to solve the perplexing mystery. I found this to be an exciting book. All the main characters had important roles, they experienced new technologies and techniques which gave me a bit of an education in some new things. Every new piece of information they found led to more questions until they finally found that one important bit that allowed the pieces to fit together. I enjoyed every phase of their journey. I kept guessing along with them and was just as surprised at the outcome.
I have been reading the DI Graham cases since the beginning. They are always good stories. The characters have continued to grow, we continue to know them better and therefore the reader feels closer to them. Each case is interesting in its own way. I always find an Inspector Graham mystery a good weekend read as well as a welcome change from one of my thicker reads. Each is a different kind of puzzling case. The Inspector and his staff continue to develop new skills and usually introduce new methods of solving the mystery.
The next three books in the series seem to be more complicated. Involving the same characters, but pursuing different cases: "The Case of the Missing Letter: The priceless Satterthwaite Desk has found its way to the island of Jersey and is on display at the local museum. When a dead body turns up on the museum’s grounds, a turbulent family drama becomes an official police inquiry. Detective Inspector Graham, along with his recently lauded investigative team, must untangle the mystery. This is such a good series! The mysteries are intriguing and hard to stop reading. I usually don’t read cozies with men as the main characters. I guess I like to put myself in the place of the heroine. But...DI Graham is definitely an exception. I really enjoy how the author lets the reader into his thought process. He’s brilliant, caring and handsome! I read this series immediately when a new one comes out. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a really good mystery on a beautiful British isle.
If you love police whodunnits and complex mysteries, you'll love this box set! And if you do love it, make sure you go back and read the four books in the first box set, too - you'll be in for a treat! Inspector Graham is a complicated character and he is portrayed in these books absolutely beautifully. When you add in the wonderful island of Jersey with its cliffs, beaches and wonderful weather (well, more so than here in mainland UK!) the whole 'Inspector Graham Mysteries' experience is just a joy! I was sent arc copies of these books and this review is my honest opinion.
I started reading this series with these books rather than from the beginning, so I was playing a little bit of catch-up for a while there. Fortunately, there's enough backstory provided so that I never felt lost. The whole set was well worth reading. The first book, The Case of the Missing Letter, was probably the most entertaining for me. I thought the third book, The Case of the Forsaken Child, had the best mystery.
Loved the characters. Especially enjoyed each character 's development and growth over the series. I read these 3 in one setting and will miss these characters until the next book comes out. Great mysteries and story telling. Looking forward to their next adventure.
Lots of twists and turns, some predictable some not. Lovable character that have you rooting and cheering for them throughout. Several spontaneous laugh out loud moments make this whole reading package time well spent.
A pleasant way to spend an evening or two - as Detective Inspector David Graham gets his small unit - as well as himself - shipshape and running like a smoothly oiled machine.
Wonderful characters and writing. I look forward to reading more books by this author. I have already purchased they next in the series. What a wonderfully talented writer.
Lots of fun. Varied and interesting characters. I might reread them all because I tend to scan when it comes to the exciting conclusions. I’m sure I missed a few things.
Very interesting and always keeping my interest focused on the next page great series of detective mysteries, and not too gory where there is too much of that in so many books. Thank. You for good entertainment.
Well, really three books. David Graham, DI, continues solving murders and other crimes on Jersey. The author writes well with excellent insight on her topics. A pleasure to read.
Another trilogy of enjoyable easy-read stories and likeable characters. Nice to pick up and put down and pick up again. Not grisly or graphic, dark or depressing.
This is not a cozy mystery series. The law enforcement team members encounter difficult situations in addition to the humdrum daily activities to unravel. The character development is excellent for each person. Well designed police procedural.
This series is great. I loved all three of the stories in this set. Each was well written and the characters are very real. I am looking forward to the next book.
The first two books were quick reads but the third seemed to drag. Interesting mysteries and a well balanced team. Worth taking the time to read tnese.
Love all The characters. Storylines are wonderfully written with twists and turns. Good writing with all the clues and insights in the story. Keep writing.
