Will they find the way to make their two worlds one before the doors of happiness lock forever? WIll they manage to go against their families' will and listen to their own hearts?
"A Letter from Her Dear Marquess" is a historical romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
I feel compelled to leave an honest review as I truly cannot believe the other reviews.
This book is filled with typos, incorrect words and incorrect grammar to the point that some sentences just don’t make any sense.
As an avid Regency Romance reader, I think it is not believable to suggest that the heroine’s sister made her come out into society at the age of 13. Not to mention that members of the ton (a Duke and Duchess, no less) - and supposedly sticklers when it comes to propriety - would hold a masquerade ball to announce their son’s engagement. Masquerade balls were considered scandalous so I call BS on that one, too.
A message to the author - please get a good editor and don’t ruin the Regency Romance genre for those of us that are true fans.
⚔️⚔️ONE BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY⚔️⚔️ Bouncing butterflies! Alice has outdone herself with this spectacularly composed piece of perfection, delivering up some callous deeds, animosity aplenty and audacious pursuits, grabbing your attention from the first sentence to the last word, launching this jewel to a whole new level. Serendipity and mishaps descend in a flurry of vexing encounters and apologizing gestures, breaking down walls and bringing the heat, lines are blurred and perimeters are crushed, limitations are enforced and expanded, exposing the impish quirks and defying bents, putting our characters through their paces, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back, baring incredibly deep emotions and undeniable affections, bonding them to one another perfectly. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits adding depth and diversity, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and such vivid descriptions that feel as though you were transported to the middle of ground zero with them. Fantastic job Alice, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
The hero in this story is a rogue and a coward. He runs to the colonies to avoid marrying his betrothed. Then when forced to return he sets out to ruin the woman. He blames her for not finding a suitor the five years he has been gone. Like women had a choice back in regency times. The author tries to redeem him but when he actually meets Abigail, he wants her, spoiled brat. Scandal happens during the engagement party and the families call the whole thing off. Now he wants to ruin Abigail by eloping, see what I mean. This is all because he hates his father. This man has no redeeming qualities and he is going to be a Duke. If you like the bad boy, this book is for you. The author writes a good story line, but trying to change his personality in the middle of the book to redeem her male main character is a huge error.
This was a good surprise of a novel. All I could think while reading was: finally a story with real grown ups! At first, of course, Clark had run away from an unwanted engagement to a young lady he had never even met. The young Lady Abigail spent those years waiting for her missing bridegroom to return from the wilds of America. When they finally meet it is kismet and they are drawn to each other. In that meeting it is immediately apparent that they are both smitten but cautious. The rest of their adventure to happy ever after is an insightful story of how grown ups go about getting their needs met without giving up. I gave this 5 stars.
A Letter from Her Dear Marquees A Historical Regency Romance Book
Abigail Price believes in love and Clark Monroe is a Marquess that does not want to be a duke .This couple discover that they love each other but both families is against them being married but love wins in the end .The characters are very determined and realistic and the extended epilogue shows a very good happy ending .A well written story and a enjoyable one
Charles and Last Abigail fought tooth and nail to not be sold for the financial benefit of their parents. They wanted to choose their own partners. When a scandal involving both families cancels the engagement, are they able to do so? Dropped a star due to the frequent usage of the wrong variation of words (new instead of knew for example).
A good read. What would you do if you couldn't be with the person that you? Clark & Clark have been betrothed for many years but they have never met. They both decide to meet in disguise little knowing that it will start a love story. But it isn't all plain sailing for them as events keep on getting in their way. Will they ever be able to be together? Will true love win the end?
When Clark and Abigail finally meet after a five year betrothal they decide marriage may not be a bad idea. But the night of the announcement something occurs that splits the two family heads who both call it off. Clark and Abigail have a challenging time before they find their happy end
The plot and character development were good. What really detracted from the story, however, was the poor editing. Word choices sometimes made it look as if the story were dictated rather than typed. For example, it should be called currant pie, not current pie. That was a real distraction throughout the book.
Abigail and Clark have been betrothed since Abigail had her come out, only Clark left for the Carolinas to help his uncle with his Plantation. And imagine all this time he hasn't gave Abigail a thought. Until he finally see, s her for the first time in years, and this is where their story begins. Thank you ♥️
I've read quite a few of Alice Kirk's books and haven't found one yet that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed! Characters and story are always very good. This one was no exception! Great book!
A lean romance. I enjoyed this story so much. It had intrigue and fun. The characters were great. Some you loved and some you despised. A well told story with a happy ending.
