ROOK

I’m chasing a dream here.

And I’m so close to having everything I ever wanted.

But I can’t start over when I’m still on the run.

Before I can become the girl I want to be, I’ll need to deal with the girl I left behind.

RONIN

I’m chasing a dream too.

I want a family of my own and life that has nothing to do with erotic modeling.

But I have a past as well.

A past that will make Rook question everything she thinks she knows about me.

Lies, secrets, and shocking truths will rock the foundation Rook and Ronin have built. Can they put the past behind them and move forward together? Or is this just another too good to be true relationship that will crash and burn in the end?

J.A. Huss

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

5 TEAM FORD Stars!!!

 photo 3da33350-1a11-4da2-85f9-17e9f17394ad_zps9026df0d.jpg

Tragic, Manic, and Panic... this is a must read series! I love the unique story lines and fantastic characters in these books. This may have been the best one of the series... and before I get into my review, I’ll tell you why. It’s all about this guy...

My Ford.

 photo 460fdbd3-45f3-4a61-88b8-a289f2b681d3_zps27c59a1e.jpg

Not sure why, but ever since I read Manic, I’ve been a little Ford obsessed... don’t judge. I can’t help it. I LOVE this guy! Ronin and Spencer are great, but there is just something about Ford... Ford is the brains of the operation. He can be a little strange, blunt and outrageous...
“I told you, I do not give a fuck about people. I wasn’t kidding. I use them, they use me. Everyone is happy.”

He doesn’t have tons of friends, but you can tell he really cares for Rook.
He wants me to be strong all on my own. Not to need anyone. I like that about Ford. It’s like he trusts me. Like he’s got faith in me. It makes me have faith in myself.

There is his relationship status...
“I have... women.” He looks back, smiling. “But they’re not girlfriends.”

He knows how he is and embraces it.
“I’m not a good guy, Rook. I’m not even close to a good guy.”

Then, there was the epilogue. Damn, it really broke my heart. I may have even cried a little...

Now on to the review!

Rook & Ronin are in a good place after the Sturgus campaign. They are in two different places in their lives, but trying to make it work together. Ronin is ready to give up the business. He wants a family, a wife, a home. Rooks isn’t sure if she’s ready for all that. She knows she wants to be with Ronin, but thats about all.

 photo 3bb34f27-986e-47fc-a19d-5e042882d57a_zps0fad8e1e.jpg

Rook has to move on from her past before she can move on with Ronin. Ronin realizes this, and he is willing to wait for her.
“I’ll be here waiting. I will wait forever. It that’s what it takes. I’ll wait for you until the end of time.”

Before the two settle down, they both have one big job to do. Ronin is in charge of the Gidget account. It’s his big project and he has to stay behind to work on it. Rook is off with Spencer and Ford to work on the set of the reality show. The two don’t get to spend a ton of time together, but they try to make it work. Then the secrets of the past start to come out...
I’m a keeper. A secret keeper, just like they are. And I’m not sure I want to keep their secrets as well as mine. I’m not sure I can handle that right now.

There are some accusations, some lies and some craziness... Ronin is in trouble and the team must come together. Rook is a part of that team now.
We’re a team, he said. It doesn’t have to be me against the world. Because I’m part of the team.

Will the team be able to come together like always and fix whats going down, or will this time be different?

This series is so different, so original. I love the writing. I love Rook and Ronin, Spencer and Ford (especially). ALL of them are great! Even though the ending broke my heart, I think it ended the right way, and I am so happy that this series is continuing with FORD and Spencer books! I can’t wait! If you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for???

***5 'Fiona, it's me, Shrek...' Stars***

The story continues on from where it was left off in Manic .

THE TEAM:
Rook is the new front man.
Ronin is the fall guy. He's the front man, the face of the operation, to clean up the mess.
Spencer is the logistics guy. He's the muscle. He roughs up people when needed.
Ford is the computer guy. He's the brains behind the operation.

The Team's past has finally caught up to them. Secrets and lies are revealed. 'The Past' wants to keep the secrets hidden and to do so they need Rook to be eliminated.  The Team comes together to try and free themselves of their past transgressions.

I'm a HUGE fan of Ford. The epilogue was told in his POV. My heart broke for him as he shared his feelings.

"And since I can't have it all, I'll take nothing."

My only peace of mind came on the next page with the author's note. What's next? Ford is getting his own book. Release date is set for January 2014. And for you Spencer fans he'll have a book too.

I loved this whole series.  The setting was unique along with the story line.  It held my attention from the first book to the last.  If you haven't read this series I highly recommend it.

J.A. Huss has just set the bar and it is set fucking high.

I am completely still stuck on this book, time has passed but each second ticked by without notice. J.A. Huss completes the Rook and Ronin Series in a spectacular fashion. I am not even sure how to process the goodness that was this book.

Rook has completed her Shrike's contract and will be filming for the upcoming reality show for Spencer's shop. She finally has means to live her life, enough money stashed away to be able to live out her dreams. But Rook still has too many demons from her past that have to be dealt with. She knows she's a runner - it's how she's survived everything.

Ronin wants the happily ever after, he wants Rook wearing his ring, with his last name and eventually the family he always wanted. But he knows that Rook isn't ready. But he loves her enough to wait for her - to let her make choices, make her own mistakes; because in the end it will all be worth it because he will have her.

And even though Rook may not be ready to deal with her past, she doesn't seem to have a choice. The old Rook would run. But the old Rook never had anyone she loved or could depend on. But just as her past is coming to light she is learning a little more about the guys and just how far they went with their schemes. There are completely shattering moments as things are discovered, each and everyone of them displays their emotions in their own way and you feel every bit of it.

But let's not forget the rest of the boys. We get a whole lot of Ford and Spencer in Panic. And although Spencer is up next for his own book, my grabby hands are twitching for Fords. I am just more than a little excited for Ford's book!

"I like you. I'd like to show you how much, actually. I'm being a gentleman to make life easier for you, but believe me, it's not really in my nature to be so accommodating. I typically just take what I want."

This series has quickly become one of my favorite series. Each book seemed to surpass the the one before it. J.A. Huss has such a unique writing style and this story is just a breath of fresh air. Nothing felt predictable or cliché. Somehow she manages to give you such perfectly developed characters that you instantly connect to, whether you love them or hate them (ahem... Claire). It can be a difficult thing to accomplish with two characters, but she pulls it off with every single one of them.

This is a complete must read for anyone who appreciates brilliant writing, even if romance is not your particular taste, this is a series that can be appreciated for the pure talent of the writing. If you have not yet read this series, one-click it NOW!

5 stars!!

Another awesome book in this series!!

I was completely glued to this book and there are such unexpected twists that make you PANIC!
There were some parts that were like watching an action movie!

Let’s to go the beginning…. Ronin and Rook

"I want him, I love him, and he’s mine."

Ronin loves Rook with his whole heart. He wants the whole nine yards with her- the babies and white picket fence. Only Rook isn’t at that point yet. She loves Ronin, we know that…

"Rook, I’m not a risk, I’m a sure thing. You’re the only girl I want to build a future with. Ever. You’re the one, Rook. The love that only comes around once in a lifetime and I refuse to settle for anything else.”

Rook leaves Ronin to go and work on her reality show. Right now as much as she loves Ronin there are some things she needs to figure out for herself. Ronin is working on the GIDET contract and GUESS who is back?? CLARE!! I hate this spoilt biach!!!! Get you paws off Ronin grrrr!

Rook spends more time with FORD. - he is weird but in such an adorable way!!

All these 3 boys- Ronin, Ford and Spencer are amazing in their own way and I love them all

Spencer...

As soon as you wonder what is possibly going to happen from that point .....

there is another twist!!!

We finally get insight into Ronin, Ford and Spencer’s “partnership” for their crimes and what they did.
At the same time we get to the start of the entire story of Rook.

True love is risking it all for the ONE…. And what an amazing trip it was getting to that point!!

"Fate is fragile. Deviate from it just a tiny fraction and you end up somewhere else. And as scary as that sounds, what it really means is that I’m the one in control. I’ve always been the one in control, I just never saw it clearly before. I control my reactions to the things life throws at me, so I control my fate."

The Epilogue- OH THIS WAS SO HEARTBREAKING!!!

Well it's not really a mystery. It was the day I met you, that's when. You've changed me, Rook. You make me weak, you make me stumble, you make me fall, and even though I know you'll pick me up if I ask you to, it's not enough. I want you to make me stronger, just like I made you."

“I'll ruin everything if you touch me. I'll ruin us. I'll ruin this. I'll ruin you, just like you said. I'll ruin you and I'll ruin your life. And I love you too much to ruin you. So I'm leaving.”

FORD- I just want to HUG AND KISS HIM!!!!

For anyone who has not read Tragic, Manic and Panic I suggest that you do because they are all worth the time!!!!!!!!

OMG January 2014!!!!! I cannot wait for FORDS book!!!

This is the third book in the series and I just loved it!! I loved every twist and turn J.A. Huss added to Rook and Ronin's story. Much like the previous books in the series, it is told in alternating povs of both Rook and Ronin.

Ronin wants to settle down. He wants a home, a family and he wants it all with Rook. She is all he needs and all he wants. Ronin learns not to push her to hard. He fears that she will run instead of fighting for their relationship.

“You’re my life, Rook. You’re my future, but I’m not in a rush, babe.”

While Rook is filming the reality show, Ronin is running The Gidget campaign and the two handle this and their relationship really well. They are stronger but Rook’s past and the secrets she has locked away revolving around Jon surface…

”There’s so much more about my past than I’ve told you guys. I have so much more locked away inside.”

Spencer, Ford and Ronin are longtime friends and partners in crime. Rook gets closer not only to Ronin but to Spencer and Ford as well. She finds family amongst these three yummy guys.

"We're a team, remember?"

J.A. Huss delivered a truly exciting story connecting dots and giving Rook the closure on her past she needed to truly move forward.

“Fate is fragile. Deviate from it just a tiny fraction and you end up somewhere else. And as scary as that sounds, what it really means is that I’m the one in control. I’ve always been the one in control, I just never saw it clearly before. I control my reactions to the things life throws at me, so I control my fate.”

I was glued to my reader to the very last line.
That epilogue…BROKE MY HEART!!! I will always remain TEAM FORD.

5++++++++ STARS!!
Holy shit this book was INCREDIBLE!!!
I'm just so utterly heartbroken over the epilogue!

OK!!! I see why you ladies love Ford!!!
The epilogue won me over!!!
I love Ronin still but I think I ADORE Ford!!

 photo image_zps00e0aaf3.jpg

This series had it all, lovable & gorgeous heroine, beautiful & sexy leading man, memorable & also adorable competition to leading man, action, unexpected twists, and wonderful secondary characters.
I will say it again, I can't believe I waited this long to read this magnificent series!!!
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, this third installment.
Rook was perfect in it.
The girl came from a life of pure horror and crap, but she sees her limitations and strives to better herself.
She finds in herself the ability to love and put her trust in another man after having been treated so horribly by her monster of an ex.
I loved her!!!

 photo image_zpsd0addd92.jpg

Ronin is still my Swoonworthy book boyfriend.
This man melted my heart over and over again throughout the entire series and I never wavered in my hopes for Rook & Ronin to ride off into the sunset together.
Rook deserves this beautiful man!!!
I want to see where they are in the future!!!

There was crazy action in this!!
Twists and revelations I never saw coming!!!
Rook kicks ass!!
She has courage that not many people would have in a million years!!

NOW, on to Ford.
Everyone kept telling me how much they loved Ford and I wasn't seeing it in book 2 and for most of book 3.
He did some pretty amazing things for her, but knowing about his past and his disorder, it was hard to trust him.
Holy shit, I see what you ladies were saying!!
That Epilogue just about shredded my heart!!!
I FUCKIN LOVE FORD!!!!
That was an EPIC Epilogue!!!
I want this man to find his soul mate!!!

Can't wait to read his story next.

This is an amazing series and I highly recommend it!!!'

It's nice to meet me again and I can't wait to get to know me better. - Rook

"I have...women. But they're not girlfriends." - Ford

"It's not that I don't or can't feel things like that. It's that I don't want to. I just don't care about people." - Ford

"You are the hottest fucking woman I've ever laid eyes on. I saw hundreds of girls today, each one prettier than the last. But I compared each and every one of them to you, Rook. And not one--not one of them came close to measuring up to you, Gidge."

"Ronin Flynn, you are my forever guy. I'd just like to say that right now. You are my forever guy."

I burn the sight, the sound, and the smell into my memory for safekeeping. Because one day, when life is hard, or ugly, or depressing, I'll be able to think back on this night. Even if I never have another moment as special as this for as long as I live, I will be OK because I will always have this memory. - Rook

"Not a window where you can see through to the other side and be sure of what's coming. But a door, still closed and leading to every opportunity imaginable and requiring a leap of faith that the risk is worth it. You are my doorway to endless possibilities and I'm ready to take that risk." - Rook

"Rook, I'm not a risk, I'm a sure thing. You're the only girl I want to build a future with. Ever. You're the one, Rook. The love that only comes around once in a lifetime and I refuse to settle for anything else." - Ronin

"I like you. I'd like to show you how much, actually. I'm being a gentleman to make life easier for you, but believe me, it's not really in my nature to be so accommodating. I typically just take what I want." - Ford

"Fiona, it's me, Shrek. I rescued you from your tower to prove I'll fight for us. I'll fight for us every single time. You'll never even have to wonder if I'll be there, because I'll show the fuck up before that thought can ever cross your mind. I want you, Ronin, and I'll risk everything for you. I will never walk out on you."

5 Hot, Insightful, Heart-Stopping, Desperately Wanting More Stars

Just finished at 2AM... does that give you some idea of how much I enjoyed this book.

J.A. Huss created this world and characters who come to life right on the first page. Her style and rhythm is so unique, it left a footprint for me to follow and pick up right away. I didn't need to catch up with the story of the people in it; I felt I had never left them... that they had been around the corner the whole time.

The troop continues and each step is cloaked with more and more layers.
Ronin is ready... he is ready to make a life with Rook...
Rook is carrying her hurts, pain and stubborn need to just be... and that may mean a delay in the coming together with Ronin...

And then there is FORD... In this book there is a hint of how much Ford understands Rook... sees her and fights the desire to want her and take her...

This book is so good, I cannot express how much I was taken with it.
Please for all that is holy... Read this series... it will hold you captive from beginning to end and you going into each book fresh is what I advise. If I give you more, it will dilute your experience.

This author has such a command with heart and real voice, I just grin from ear to ear thinking of what she may have in store for us. I, for one, can hardly wait.

J.A. Huss did the world a favor when she wrote this series.
I could tell you more about the book - but she wrote her own summary... here are my favorite parts.

I knew I would love book three when I read this line: "It's nice to meet me again and I can't wait to get to know me better" 3%

Ford. I am Team Ford...

and I love an author that can say it as they feel "I just want to drop-kick them." 45%

cause that made me laugh!

3.5 Final Rook and Ronin Stars

So you know how you absolutely loved the first and second books and hope the third will live up to their bar they set? Yeah, this one not quite....

feel me photo tumblr_lryvxycR8D1qbvaudo1_250_zpsa3f11cb1.gif

Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed reading this one but I felt I had all sorts of mixed signals.

For Ronin to be a badass he somewhat turned into a puss as well. You are the front man! Act like it!

 photo tumblr_m1knka6sGm1qcb07i_zpsf9217723.gif

Rook is supposed to be all screwed up with her life from what Ford said but she seemed totally together to me. She had her game plan and got her ducks in a row just fine.

come at me photo 13826__safe_fluttershy_animated_zpsffb670b2.gif

Spencer really didn't do much in this book.

WTF photo tumblr_mtvwljEAkq1srzaw8o1_500_zps7d152ab3.gif

Ford was weird but freaky as well in this one...I still don't know what to think about him. It's hard to picture a hot weirdo...

nerd photo -Hot-Guy-shia-labeouf-29315993-250-225_zpsa2e4112d.gif

And Clare...Man, I hate Clare...I just want to say to Ronin....

came photo post-19816-Star-Wars-gif-you-came-in-that-j8td_zps5c9be3e2.gif

The ending seemed a little too rushed. It was like Climax and then

bam photo tumblr_inline_mslezuyhjn1qz4rgp_zps367dffb7.gif

The End. The finale could have been explained better than it was. Anyways overall I still love the series and love Rook and Ronin.

kissing photo tumblr_mfta63s5Av1qmsrqqo1_500_zpsa9974a12.gif

Just like Shrek and Fiona, Rook and Ronin get their HEA...

I will still be anticipating Spencer and Ford's books.

(5 "I belong to Ronin" stars)

This book continues with Rook and Ronin still working on their relationship, but doing well together. Ronin still wants to be more serious, settle down, and start a family, & Rook still isn't ready to take that next step. She finally deals with her past and begins to heal. We find out a lot about what has happened to her to make her so closed off. In this book Rook and Ronin are separated because of their work schedules and trying to have a long distance relationship. Rook is still doing the show with Spencer and Ford, and Ronin is working on the Gidget campaign. I really loved Ronin & Rook as a couple, but felt torn at times because I also ADORE Ford!!! I really need Ford to have someone love him & some Ford sexy time! PLEASE!!!I can't wait for his book!!! :D

-God, I love these guys.-Rook

-I want Ford to stay the guy I trust to point me in the right direction and force me to do things that are good for me even though I hate it. I want Spencer to stay the guy who makes me laugh, paints me pretty biker jackets, and makes scrapbooks of our body art so I'll be happy. And I want Ronin to be the guy I spend forever with. I want to sleep next to him, and go on long vacations with him, and take beastly sexy showers with him.-Rook

-Whatever makes you happy makes me happy.-Ford

 photo e835fbbc-a2d6-455e-ae6c-2b0432ba1d89.jpg

-Ronin might not be perfect, but he's close enough for me. I want him, I love him, and he's mine.-Rook

 photo c97d38fd-0fc7-40b1-8dac-adaf9658363b.jpg

-I love the hell out of Spencer.-Rook

-Rook,I knew you were my blackbird when I first laid eyes on you.-Spencer

 photo 7dc266dd-68d6-4712-ab89-d7200570f2f6.jpg

-Ronin Flynn, you are my forever guy.

-He smells like Sexy Man. I'm not sure what that exactly is, but if sexy man smell has a dictionary entry, the picture next to it is Ronin Flynn.

-He laughs. God, I love when he laughs. Those blue fucking eyes sparkle and his whole face beams.

-I lean up and kiss him one more time because his lips are like the siren's song, they call to me, they blind me to everything around me.

-I look up at this incredible man and I have no words for what I feel. I'm not falling for Ronin, I'm laid out flat on my face. He is the perfect man.

-She makes my heart ache. Literally. My chest feels like it's gonna be ripped apart from the longing, that's how much I love this girl.

-She kisses me and the whole world disappears. Just blips out of existence for me. When she kisses me there is nothing but her tender lips and my pounding heart.

-My eyes linger on his body as he approaches and I let out a sigh. God. This man is like my smile button. He appears and I smile.

-I've never known love until him. He's everything to me now. Everything.

-You'll never even have to wonder if I'll be there, because I'll show the fuck up before that thought can even cross your mind. I want you, Ronin, and I'll risk everything for you.

Now that the Strike contract is over, Rook is set to start filming the reality show for Spencer's shop, while Ronin works on the Gidget contract. For Rook life is good, she has plenty of money, Ronin's love, and friends. But she has some secrets she still hasn't dealt with. Will she face her past and find happiness or will she do what she has always done, run?

"You are my doorway to endless possibilities and I am ready to take that risk."

Ronin wants it all with Rook, marriage, family, the whole package - but he doesn't want to push her, and force her to run away. He loves her, so he gives her what he can.

description

While Rook is filming she continues to grow closer to Ford and Spencer. I love these guys!!

“ How did I get here? We’re three’s company. Spencer is airhead Chrissy, Ford is intellectual Janet, and I’m pretending to be gay so I don’t notice that you two are roommate candy.”

Then, when it looks like the past has finally caught up with the Team, things get a little crazy.

description

With Rook as the new front man, will she be able to save day?

“Fiona, it’s me, Shrek. I rescued you from your tower to prove I’ll fight for us. I’ll fight for us every single time. You’ll never even have to wonder if I’ll be there, because I’ll show the fuck up before that thought can even cross your mind. I want you, Ronin, and I’ll risk everything for you. I will never walk out on you.”

This series is so different from anything else I have read - it is refreshing and original - Ford's story is next...and I CANNOT WAIT - because that epilogue, my heart... *sigh*

4.5 stars for this wonderful book! I have fallen in love with this author and of course; this series. Rook and Ronin are a couple that I adore, but also Ford and Spencer are the other main characters in this story that truly make this book the masterpiece that it is. Without them, it just wouldn't be the same at all. I am officially in love with Ford!! In book two when he was introduced, he was such a jerk; but he truly grows on you...and now I want to know more about him, and I want so badly for him to find someone to love.
The reason why I rated the book a 4.5 stars was because of the fact that in this story Ronin and Rook were once again apart for most of the story. This was also a pet peeve of my during Book two, and now the same thing happened. I feel like the book was more about the friendship of Spencer,Ford, and Rook. That was quite disappointing, although I do love the interaction of the trio!

In Panic, there is so much that happens and a lot of it is secrets coming out. It seems like everyone has them, and when the secrets are revealed some of them are extremely shocking. Rook really grows as a person in this book, and she also steps up to the plate and fights for what she believes in. She also deals with a lot of her past baggage; which is heartbreaking at times. The little time that her and Ronin are together, is very sexy and also very heart warming. The love that they have for each other is such a beautiful thing and I just absorbed every single word they said to one another. I just love them as a couple!

I have to say that I did feel a little bit cheated at the end as far as Rook and Ronin's relationship goes. I almost felt like it wasn't a full ending, and there seems to be an opening there for possibly more books with them in it.. I am hoping that is the case, or I will be constantly feeling a bit cheated.

All in all though, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. My Kindle is lit up like all of the colors of the rainbow. The quotes in this story are fantastic! There were so many profound phrases, I just sucked it up! I adore JA Huss's writing style, and she will be on my auto buy from now on..I would even read the phone book if it was written by her! LOL
Do I recommend this series? Absolutely! This is a must read for Romance lovers everywhere. You won't be disappointed! Now, I can't wait to dig in to Ford's book!! I am off to one click it immediately..and not a second too soon...he needs someone who will treat him right! (I wish it could be me) heh heh!

“Ronin Flynn, you are my forever guy. I’d just like to say that right now. You are my forever guy.”

Rook is the girl that is used to running away.

Ronin is the guy that finally caught her.

Will they have a chance to a future? Or will Rook's fears and insecurities and Ronin's secrets and past cons get in the way?

Clare is also back and she has her own agenda and the FBI is sniffing around.

This book had one STAR and this was the arrogant, infuriating, disturbed, cocky and sexy FORD ASTON, people!

“I like you. I’d like to show you how much, actually. I’m being a gentleman to make life easier for you, but believe me, it’s not really in my nature to be so accommodating. I typically just take what I want.”

“I. Fucking. Want. You,” I say, my voice a deep rumble in my throat. “If I’d found you first instead of Ronin, you’d be mine right now. And I’d never let you go.”

Ford outshines the main characters and steals the stage. It's the reason I couldn't focus on the main couple and their issues seemed trivial in front of his enigma and appeal. Yeap, there was suspense but I didn't feel like rooting for Rook and Ronin. He is sweet and perfect and she is awesome. I loved them and I wanted them together, but I had enough.

Now I need some alone time with Ford, please...

Panic: 4--Team FORD--Stars!
Rook and Ronin series: 4.5--Different-Sexy-Fun--Stars!!

This was a solid end to the series. I must say though I felt somewhat of a disconnect between this book in the series and the previous two books. It just didn't have the same vibe/feel/theme or something to me.

Manic ended with Rook spotting her first love Wade. But when Panic picked up that was all kind of skipped over. It took me a minute to get the timeline down and figure out what was going on.

Rook is moving on to the TV show portion of her contract so she and Ronin will spend the week days apart while he is working on the Gidget campaign. Rook is living with Ford and Spencer. I really feel like a lot of this book was set-up for Ford's book.

We find out a lot of new things about Ford...and I must say, I find him quite intriguing. The first half of the book was a bit on the slower side. Not a lot was happening. But then things really pick up towards the end and it got really exciting.

Overall, I loved the uniqueness of this series. The storyline was very different. I have loved all of the characters. I loved Rook and Ronin from the beginning...and I loved seeing their relationship evolve.

The epilogue and the last line of this book were quite devastating.

But I hope we get to hear more from Rook and Ronin and the gang in the books to come. If you're looking for something fun and different with a side of sexy and steamy then I would definitely recommend this series. They are quick reads. Panic completes the Rook and Ronin portion of the series and the remaining books will be about other characters.

Fan-flipping-tastic! I loved this whole bloody trilogy, I loved Rook, Ronin, Spencer and Ford - what a great team they made in the aftermath of the Sturgis contract and the downfall of Jon.

As in the last book there were quite a few twists and turns which kept me on the edge of my sofa, a few hot scenes and some great chemistry.

Very much looking forward to Ford and Spencers stories and hoping we get a bit of a glimpse into R&Rs future.

*****5 STAR “WORLD-ROCKING” REVIEW*****

First of all, I just have to say WOW!!!!!!

PANIC

ROCKED

MY

WORLD!!!!!!

Are you tired of reading the same old romance story? Looking for something exciting and different? Well then look no further than the Rook & Ronin Series (Tragic, Manic, and Panic)!

Tragic (Rook and Ronin, #1) by J.A. Huss Manic (Rook and Ronin, #2) by J.A. Huss Panic (Rook and Ronin, #3) by J.A. Huss

These books captivated me from beginning to end. Each one was even better than the next! Tragic was an awesome book… Manic was even more amazing, especially since Ford and Spencer were added to the mix (I just LOVE those guys!)… Panic was an unexpected, mind-blowing, thrill-ride!

Just as in the other two books, the character and plot development in Panic continues to be remarkable!!! J.A. Huss definitely has an incredible writing style, allowing you to really connect with the characters. And connect I did!!! Let me just say, that Ford has completely captured my heart in this book! I totally didn’t expect THAT to happen, because I just love Ronin! He’s like the perfect guy & totally great book boyfriend!!

However, considering the bond between Ford and Rook, part of me wondered how this book was going to end? It’s perfectly titled, because at times, I was in a bit of a “Panic”, wondering what was going to happen next! Would Rook and Ronin end up together at the end? Is Rook falling in love with Ford (because I AM!)?

Spencer, Elise, Antoine, even Veronica and her brothers, are all present in Panic, and we get to know all of them a little better. Unfortunately, Clare (whom I love to hate) is also present. She’s out of re-hab and of course, is quite evil and nasty.

We finally find out what happened to Rook while she was with Jon. And WHOA!! It is SHOCKING!!!! The last half of this book really takes you on a roller coaster ride!!! Secrets are revealed… lives are in danger… and I was on the edge of my seat!!!

Then, Ford takes over the Epilogue of the book… and THAT will leave your head spinning! HOLY MOLY!!!
It’s a good thing that Ford will have his own book coming out, in a spin-off of this series, because that Epilogue nearly killed me!!! J.A. Huss --- great series --- and I’ll be anxiously awaiting Ford’s book!!!!

Received an ARC from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

Rook and Ronin are together again in Panic and can I just say that I would give ANYTHING TO BE ROOK!!! Ronin will forever be ON my top ten BOOK BOYFRIEND list!!!

Rook is attending film school, trying to make all her dreams come true. She is leaving the horrific life she led 6 months ago behind, but her past doesn’t want to let her go.

Ronin is desperate for a family of his own and wants to leave his modeling behind to build a future with Rook. He too has a past he’d like to leave behind, but life has other plans.

Can they succeed in building a future together? Is it fate? Is it a façade?

I fell in love with Rook and Ronin in Tragic. The heat between them was so hot even Satan is begging God for rain. I fell even more in love with them in MANIC…something I didn’t think possible. Then came PANIC and I was ready to plan the wedding myself.

Rook now works in Spencer’s bike shop and has given up modeling. Ronin is managing the GIDGET contract. They are together and I can’t be happier.

“I am so in love with you, Ronin Flynn. So very, very much in love with you.”

I am so ready to kick Rook’s a$$ so I can have Ronin all to myself, but I’ll share!

He we hear things like this from him:
“She makes my heart ache. Literallly. My chest feels like it’s gonna be ripped apart from the longing, that’s how much I love this girl.”

After Rook gives him her heart as a gift, he says,” I’m totally taking that gift, Rook. And I’m never giving it back, so please don’t ask for it.”

“You’re my life, Rook. You’re my future.”

“I squeeze her. I just want to make her part of me, pull her close so that we merge together and become one soul.”

HOLY SH*T ON A STICK!!!! Did I say how much I LOVE HIM!!!

Ronin remains at Chaput Studios while Rook goes off to work at Spencer’s bike shop. I thought my heart was breaking in two when they separated.

Ronin: “I felt like I was leaving a piece of my soul behind the moment I left. And every second that passes, I miss you like that, times a million.”

OH MY FREAKIN GAWD!!! I just SWOONED AND MELTED!!!

There are so many secrets, lies, twists and turns I felt like I was on a super duper twisty roller coaster holding on for dear life. There were so many OMG moments, tender moments, and shocking truths revealed that your mouth will be left hanging open. You will be floored, blown away, and captivated with JA’s novel.

There were moments I hated JA…she was KILLING ME!!!! Then I loved her again!!! Everything is roses then BAM OMG!!! I was having heart palpitations!!!

Spencer, Ford, Antoine, Elise are all present and are Rook’s family. We learn a lot more about each of them and many mysteries are solved. Even Clare (who I HATE, BTW) is back and creates much added drama.

If you haven’t read this series yet, what are you waiting for?!? JA Huss is a writing genius.

And guess what? FORD’S STORY IS COMING NEXT!!! I fell in love with Ford in this book, but felt like I was cheating on Ronin. My heart was bleeding reading his words. I am hanging on by a thread waiting for his story!!!

This book was AMAZING!!!!

Rook and Ronin have been together all summer. Now she is pursuing her dream of going back to school while she works for Spencer in his shop/for the TV show. This means she has to move in with Spencer and Ford. Away from Ronin. And school is way harder than she expected. Does she really want this?

Ronin is working on his GIDGET project. He is completely in love with Rook and would marry her on the spot if she agreed. He wants a family. He wants a family with Rook but she is not ready.

Clare comes home from rehab. Once upon a time, Ronin wanted to be with Clare and it seems like Clare is into Ronin now. Who wouldn't be?? And Ronin definitely dropped everything to be with Clare while she was struggling with rehab. Let me tell you, Clare is the character I love to hate in this series. She has been such a pain in the ass since Manic - pulling Ronin's attention away from Rook. I was ready to jump into the book and give her a good bitch slap with the way she was trying to meddle with Rook and Ronin in Panic.

Panic deals with so much more but I don't want to give it away. There are legal matters that blow up in everyone's face and I had NO IDEA what would happen. Rook has been living in denial with the events from her past life and she has to deal with them in Panic.

Will she run from Ronin? Or will she stay and fight for what they have??

Let me just say - I can't get enough of these characters!! Spencer, Ford, Elise, Antoine, even Veronica and her brothers - I love them all. Well, I love to hate Clare. But all books need one of those girls. I'm so hungry for more from JA Huss!!!

You MUST read this series - Tragic, Manic, Panic - just read them, period!!!

Amazing series.

This is the final book in this series and it's the best so far and that's saying something because the previous two have been amazing.
This is an emotional book, with Jon behind them Rook is free, or is she, she's still not faced and come to terms with her past but she's forging ahead with her dream of Film School with the help of Ford, she's signed on for the Sturgis reality show while Ronin is managing the Gidget contract so distance is a factor, while Rook is in Fort Collins with Spencer and Ford, Ronin is at Caput in Denver shooting Gidget with Clare, with their relationship still relatively new, their pasts and the distance is there anyway they could possibly make this relationship work.
Now I didn't mention anything in my last review because I didn't want to spoil the book for anyone but I'm assuming anyone reading reviews for the third book will have already read the second, if not it's a minor point book-wise anyway it's just that it the last book we learnt exactly what the relationship was between Ronin, Spencer and Ford, what they'd done in the the past and what they were prepared to do in the present, we discovered that Ronin is the 'front man' and his special talent is lying, this is not a good talent for a boyfriend to have and I was I'll admit a little worried because I like Rook and Ronin together but how much of what he says can she believe. So between the distance, their pasts, Clare and Ford and his ability to lie so well, let's just say at times it's a bumpy ride.
One of the things that really drew me into this book was the relationship between Rook and Ford, they both needed each other desperately and at times, I'll admit I wasn't certain where this would end up.
Rooks past comes hurtling towards them and we're not sure what effect this will have on any of them, she's been through so much and I just wanted to see her happy. It was difficult at times to remember just how young she actually is and Ronin, he wants to be settled with a family but he's so young himself and I kept thinking 'don't push her, whatever you do don't push too hard'
I loved this book but, and I hate doing this, but in order for this to be a totally fair review I have to say I found the last part a bit of a rush, not the epilogue, loved that, and in places you could argue it's maybe a little far-fetched but I'm not deducting anything from my rating because I enjoyed this book so much but I had to mention it, if this was totally the last book I'd argue that there's too many loose ends but with the spin-off books I'm sure everything will work out, I have to say not only did I love Ford and Spencer but Ronnie and her bothers are going to be interesting...

10 Freaking Stars if ever a book deserved them!

Sizzle Factor: 3.5/5

So I have been almost a little confused reading Tragic, Manic and Panic (Rook and Ronin series)
I have never read a book that had this type of plot. It's the most unique story I've ever read. Yes there is some sex and a lot of sexual situations. There is just something so different about it that I was like not able to put it down. I only rated books 1 and 2 a 4 because of all the unanswered questions in my head that made me not sure if I was gonna love it by the time it's over.
Plot:
Rook (tragic broken battered girl) alone and homeless gets an opportunity to take a modeling job. It's erotic modeling
she meets
Ronin(beautiful sexy charismatic male model and other jobs) falls for Rook right away.

“I’ll be here waiting. I will wait forever. If that’s what it takes. I’ll wait for you until the end of time.” Ronin

This isn't a instant love though Rook isn't sure of her feelings. I didn't understand fully why she was the way she was until I got to book 3.
But when she woke up...Rook came through for her man.

Gosh where else can I go with this review?
There is so many other characters
Spencer (biker, rich and sexy)
Ford (stranger BDSM guy)

And several others
Antoine and Elise
of course
Clare the bitch from hell.

This really isn't a romance ..it is but the love story is really 2nd to the growth of Rook. Her transformation from a broken girl into an amazing woman..is the story

But the romantic side of me has to talk about Ronin
He is every thing. He's beautiful yes but when he falls it's all the way. He sees the strength in Rook and he is so proud when she shines.

I honestly just got landed on my ass reading Panic. I am telling you shit came out that floored me. I am so freaking in awe right now of the twists and turns this story took that I am almost speechless.

Then the end happens and omg ..I can only say..you have to read it to believe it.

So glad I gave this series a chance. :)

Finished this late last night. Review to come...when I feel I can do it justice. Epic.

Okay, I've thought for a bit and I'm still seeing stars.

This book is without a doubt one of the best books I've ever read.

Seriously.

The entire series is phenomenal (if you haven't read them yet then you NEED to..like..now!) but Panic blows Tragic and Manic right out of the water.

I'm totally fangirling.

J.A. Huss is amazingly talented. Her characters (especially Rook, Ronin, Spencer, and Ford) are so real, and witty, and awesome. You learn so much more about each of them in this book.

Oh and... HOLY MOTHER OF GINGER SNAPS can this woman write a sex scene? *fans self* Cherries and champagne anyone?

Not many authors can, but J.A. Huss tops each book in her series making you fall in love even more.

Panic? Yup. This one had me on pins and needles for the entire last half of the book. I just HAD to find out what happens.

If you like sexy new adult, with witty banter, mystery, action, emotional turmoil, and toe-curling romance, with a healthy dose of man candy then you need to meet Rook and Ronin!

This was my least fave book in this series so far.. I kinda lost interest when all the "con-man, super genius" shit started. then with the sex slave stuff.. it just became too much.. and sorta "half-assed" if you ask me.. like the author is trying to create depth, but failing.. miserably..

there's all this build up for the "big moments" and when they finally happen they're over in like.. two seconds... in the simplest ways

I hate Claire and the way Ronin is with her.. the way he is always referring to her as "cute, beautiful, and so on... the teen girl inside of me was thinking "well if she's so great, why don't you marry her!!??" ugh seriously!

I don't like Rook that much anymore either.. I can't put my finger on it.. but something is different about her, and I don't like it!

I really want to read Ford and Spencer's books.. but I gonna take a little break from the "Team" and come back refreshed

The conclusion to the Rook and Ronins trilogy, and it's a corker.
It's all there love, angst, humour and sex in the shower oh and cherry action too!
The story concludes with complete revaluation of Rooks life with Jon.
It's brilliant there are no other words for it, and what makes it so brilliant is that I'm sure like every other reader you just want more of the team, and that's what we are promised Fords story and then Spencer's, pure genius! And I for one am team team ford all the way!!
5 outstanding sparkly starts.

Man oh man I was scared to read this third installment of Rook and Ronin's story after reading the blurb, I so didn't want to see these two not make it. With that bitchy Clare and manipulative Ford, it was touch and go for one of my favorite couples.

We left Rook and Ronin in at the end of book two going their separate ways for work. I went ahead and read the last chapter of book two to be ready, but just wasted my time as it is chapter one of PANIC. I absolutely love that JA Hauss had the refresher course there ready to go for her readers. Nice touch. Rook is heading to Shrike's F-ing Bikes to film the reality show while Ronin stays at Chaput Studios to head up the next photo shoot, GIDGET. Rook is stuck at the shop with funny Spencer and weird Ford (whom I actually took a liking to this time around) shooting the show and getting into trouble. Ford is just so taken with Rook he doesn't act like himself and it was interesting to see him struggle with actual emotions. Ronin is casting with Roger and of course that annoying, yet sober Clare is the lead in his campaign. So with Spencer and Ford in Rook's ear and ugh Clare in Ronin's, you just know there is trouble ahead.

In book two there were all kinds of pasts and secrets partially revealed that end up getting explained and cleared up this time around. There are so many story lines you just wonder how in the hell it is all going to make sense in the end, but it does. Rook and Ronin are one sexy couple that do nothing but fight for their love to work. I think Ronin says the sweetest things to her and Rook seems to be so much warmer to him. They still steam up the sheets (and everywhere else) which is surprising when all the details of her past are told. The full story shows why Rook and Ronin are the way they are as well as Spencer and Ford. Those two are a huge part of book three and I felt it worked out well.

Sorry if the review is a bit vague, but there are some things that are just better off to read for yourself. This was a well written fantastic addition to the Rook and Ronin series. The book is left open for Ford's story which I am highly interested in after what we have learned about him. Hopefully we will get a peek into the lives of Rook and Ronin through it. I would love to see what some time does to their relationship. Great book-loved it!

I got a copy in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed both Tragic and Manic, but Panic takes it to a totally different level. I loved panic! I was in a modo where I struggled through books and it took me from 5-7 days to read a book and then I picked up Panic and read it in 3 days. I just couldn't put it down and it's the best ending to a series and leaves me wanting to read more. I can't wait to read the spin-offs for this series.

Panic takes off some time after Manic ends and actually at the beginning I was wondering what would happen in this book, because well most stuff seemed pretty much solved at the end of Manic, but Panic trows some more obstacles in Rook and Ronin's way and there is so much more story. This book unveils so many secrest, secrests I didn't even realize where there. We get the whole story and it's perfect. The epilogue is kinda sad, but also makes me really want to read Ford's story like now.

I thought I knew the characters pretty well after Manic, but this book brings so much more out of these characters. Even deeper secrests are unveiled and then even more. In this book there is a whole lot of character development, something I didn't expect from a last book in this series. The characters change and we learn a lot more about the characters and their past and personalities. I was really rooting for all of them and I hope they all get their happy ending.

To conclude: I really loved Panic, it's a great ending to a great series and also leaves me wanting to read more. There is a whole lot of story and character development in this book and I really enjoyed. If you like New Adult contemporary romance this is one series you have to pick up! It has everything from a great story to great characters and enough drama and surprises.

If you haven't read Tragic and Manic, WTH?!? Go get them now!! ;) But seriously, my review may not make sense in some places if you haven't read the first two books...it may even be a bit spoiler-y. So read on at your own risk. :)

I swear my highlighter/bookmark function smokes from overuse when I'm reading one of Ms. Huss' books. There are always so many poignant and meaningful moments and quotes that I have to record! One of my favorite things about Ms. Huss' writing is her character and plot development. She always has a surprise or two for me and although I think I may have it figured out, I'm almost always wrong! LOL This is a good thing, in my opinion.

"...a door, still closed and leading to every opportunity imaginable and requiring a leap of faith that the risk is worth it. You are my doorway to endless possibilities and I'm ready to take that risk." -Rook, Loc 1001, eARC

I think this quote is the theme of the entire book.

Panic was intense. I could not put it down. So much happens and it's a thrill ride - I was anxious to know what was going to happen - where it was all going. I was clueless...I never saw it coming. And when I finished, I wanted to start it all over again.

I enjoyed the culmination of Rook's journey towards forgiveness, love, wholeness. Because even though they're an 'us', this story is more Rook's story than Ronin's. Ronin is the catalyst for Rook's growth and therefore an integral part of Rook's story, but it's Rook's. And as the events of Rook's past are revealed, I admired her all the more.

"Rook," Spencer blows out a long breath of air and then opens his eyes and stares straight at me. "You are the bravest f#cking chick I've ever met." Spencer, Loc 3168-3169, eARC

While Rook's behavior did irritate me on occasion in the first two books and I always cut her slack because of her age, I now know I was so right in my allowances for her actions. What Rook experienced and survived prove her mettle. She's grown up - she's finally ready to let go of her past and move forward.

Ronin...ahh, Ronin - he just proved over and over again that he meant what he said

"...I am so far beyond in love with you, I can barely function. I want to marry you. Like yesterday. But I know that's not gonna happen just yet, so I just want you to know, I can wait." Ronin, Loc 454, eARC

Ronin has moved past his player days - he's a goner for Rook. He even mans up and puts Clare in her place. We get an in-depth view of Ronin and his past - his mad skills. But Ronin isn't as prominent in Panic. He's present, of course, but doesn't feel as present. And it shocked me that I loved Panic so much because I love Ronin and he seemed to have a smaller role. The reason I loved Panic?!? That would be FORD!

Now Ford, well, I just love Ford. I have to admit to falling for him in Manic. I adored getting a deeper glimpse into his dark psyche. Ford's deep and I think Ms. Huss is barely scratching the surface here in exposing Ford. (that's okay - Ford is getting his own book in January 2014) Ford shows many parts of himself to Rook in an attempt to push her away, I think. It boggles his mind that Rook just accepts it all and loves him anyway.

"And we're a team, he said. It doesn't have to be me against the world. Because I'm part of the team." Rook, Loc 210, eARC

Ronin challenges Rook to want a future - one with him. He challenges her to believe in herself, to believe in love and to believe she deserves it. Ford challenges Rook to stretch herself, to push past her boundaries, to reach and fulfill her potential. And Spencer, he provides Rook with the comfort and security of a big brother. They all, even Antoine and Elise, ask Rook to give them her trust. And that'st the most difficult for Rook, in my opinion.

There's a lot of action and many revelations in Panic. Ms. Huss didn't take the story in the direction I was expecting. Seriously, I thought I had it mapped out and I so didn't. But I was thrilled with the direction she took. The events in Panic tied up some loose ends and allowed Rook the closure she needed.

And that epilogue...WOW! I won't say anything more about it other than it was shocking!
