My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).

I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...

I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...

Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

3.25 stars.

Quite a lovely romantic tale, with a most memorable, sexy Cajun H who's the saving grace of the story. But, it didn't have the same *wow* factor, nor did it pack a similar emotional punch, as the author's most recent books that I've reviewed.

Our British heroine is sent, by her employer, on a fact finding mission ( the H calls it *spying* ) to San Francisco where the object of her *research* turns out to be a hunky American Tech billionaire.

A few of my Goodreads friends know that Heidi Rice is one of my top 3 current HP authors, along with Lynne Graham and Caitlin Crews. Jennie Lucas, Carol Marinelli and Sharon Kendrick, round out my top 6.

I really wanted to love this book ( I definitely loved the H ! ) but I couldn't move beyond the notion that these MCs shared a connection that was more sexual and less emotional. Their sexual chemistry was always obvious but they didn't have that special, memorable *super couple* equation that's such an integral part of an awesome romance novel. Their sexual relationship seemed to take precedence.

The heroine just wasn't his equal, in terms of awesomeness. She's likable, beautiful and introverted, but I don't know why I was left with that OMG feeling that this man is just too exciting to be paired with her. Her personality is somewhat bland and she's relatively forgettable when compared to the author's previous heroines.

I even had a hard time trying to picture her, in my mind's eye.

This is the heroine, Cassie:

Heidi Rice is great at creating some of the best heroes, in HPlandia, unlike a few other authors whose heroes tend to be generic incarnations of the same recycled H they've been writing about for years. Their names/nationality/physical appearance might vary, but their dialogue/mannerisms etc tend to be similar. Heidi R's heroes always have that stamp of individuality, which makes each differ from the other.

Luke Broussard is no exception; he certainly deserves a place in HPlandia's pantheon of sexy heroes, because he's utterly charming, with his devastating dimpled smile, flirtatious guile and sexy Cajun accent. He's definitely an original and not a new incarnation of any previous Heidi Rice hero.

What I loved about him is the fact that he didn't allow his horrible backstory to turn him into a brooding sourpuss who's angry at the world.

This is the H, Luke:

The first quarter of the story was very exciting, because that's the sexy courtship phase. I started to lose interest, a bit, during the middle portion when the conflict reared its head. And then I was slightly disappointed that the huge conflict just sorted itself out after they started having sex again and he magnanimously offered to introduce her to a few CEO's of new start up tech firms - so she wouldn't have to return empty handed to her boss.

I also wished that there'd been an epilogue, to show us what their life is like, a few years into the future.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Heidi Rice's next novel. Hopefully that'll be as amazing as Innocent's Desert Wedding Contract.

Safety: No OW, no OM and both MC's are celibate during their short separation.

Both hero and heroine had father issues but they were nice people. I really wanted an epilogue with kids though.

I just adored Heidi Rice's latest sizzling Presents - given a fresh twist by placing our Hero and Heroine on a rugged island off the coast of Oregon in the United States.
When super efficient and ambitious Cassandra James is sent by her boss to a glamorous wedding in San Francisco to scope out a potential investment in elusive tech billionaire Luke Broussard, she's not expecting to attract her quarry to her side so quickly. But when Luke spots Cassie across the room, dressed in clinging gold lamé, he can't resist this slightly shy, but oh so sexy wallflower.
Their attraction is instant and explosive. Within hours Cassie is whisked away to Luke's private island and a whole new world of indulging her wild side and senses.
But, when Luke sees a text from Cassie's BFF, Ashling, that reveals she's there to spy on him, their sensual idyll is shattered.
She sees a new side to Luke - cynical, distrustful. She's devastated he's found out like this, and especially when she'd almost forgotten her own motive for coming in the first place.
And then it gets worse, because a storm rolls in, which means they're stuck on the island, with no escape. Lovers to enemies. At first they're careful to avoid each other but inevitably their insane chemistry draws them back together like magnets.
Cassie and Luke must battle to reconcile their passion with Luke's lack of trust in Cassie and her own personal demons that caution her to protect herself from feeling vulnerable.
When they're off the island and back in the real world, they can see who they really are.
The question is, are they prepared to acknowledge the epic passion they experienced on the island was a once in a lifetime event? Or will they protect themselves and walk away?
Only one way to find out!
*Bias disclaimer* AND - if you want to read about Ashling - Cassie's scatty BFF who potentially spoilt the best thing that ever happened to her - her story is out in August - The Flaw In His Red-Hot Revenge, by moi, Abby Green where you will also find out what happens to Luke and Cassie in the future!

One Wild Night with Her Enemy isn’t as revengeful as the title suggests but Heidi Rice has definitely written an interesting and vibrant forced situational story.

On the spur of the moment Cassie accepts Luke’s invitation to his Island for the night... and it’s not intended as an invite to come in and have coffee. Sent to a high-class wedding by her boss Cassie is supposed to gather intel on Luke to see if her boss should invest in Luke's tech company and things get super interesting when there’s a devastating storm and Luke discovers the truth about Cassie.

Stuck on an island puts Cassie and Luke together which causes some great fireworks, sparks and dialogue. It’s easy to get to know both characters and cheer them on when it seems against all odds. Heidi Rice always creates great scenes and delivers high impact laughs and emotion in the most imaginative fun worlds. Fun and refreshing.

I really enjoyed One Wild Night with Her Enemy and thanks to loads of teasing for Book II and I’m very much looking forward to Abby Green’s installment.
