Daniella Knight works hard to create suspenseful and romantic tales, but after a violent interaction with a fan, she wants to hide from the world. When her house catches on fire, her and her protection dog, Tigger, are forced to rely on the help of strangers.
Huntley Young loves being in the thick of the action. Well, as long as that action has something to do with his job as a firefighter. When Huntley stops the homeowner from going back into the house, he has no clue, that he just placed himself firmly in the hero department.
As they two get to know each other, Daniella’s creative mind is always building on what is around her, and before she knows it, reality and fiction are hard to tell apart.
When danger strikes again, will Daniella be able to see what is right in front of her, or while her past trauma keep her safely inside her romantic fictional world?

As an author, living in an alternative universe may well be quite normal, except that Daniella goes beyond the boundaries of normalcy as she equates the people she meets in everyday life with the characters in her books. Part of this due to a severe case of PTSD, but it does make having a normal relationship difficult for her. After a fire that destroyed her home, Daniella is surprised to find herself being taken into the Young home where she is nurtured and taken care of. Huntley prevented Daniella from going back into the house to rescue her laptop and very quickly becomes enamoured of the beautiful author. He just has one problem, in that he has to get around her protective watchdog, one that is never off duty! The story is suspenseful as Daniella hides from the scrutiny of those who want to get close to her and when the truth about her past comes out, she feels threatened. The story is generally well written and suspenseful, but I found it difficult to relate to as Daniella slipped in and out of reality. I loved Huntley's character and the rest of the Young family as they wrap Danielle up in their caring concern. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This love story will knock your socks off and keep you glued to your seat!! Suspense...check...Passion....check....Love of family....check!! This book was jammed packed full of so much action and suspense but still had so much love running through it that you could not put it down!! Stacy has a beautiful way that she writes a story that will pull you in and rip your heart out and put it back together again!! This is a stand alone book that you can read with out reading the first two books but to get the full enjoyment you need to fully immerse into this family and fall in love with them too!! Don't hesitate to grab this book...you will not be disappointed!!!
I just love these stories and I absolutely love the Youngs and all they stand for! This is Daniella and Huntleys story and it is fraught with danger, lies, passion, family and romance and I just could not put it down. Absolutely fantastic and a series I totally recommend!
This is a book in the Loving a Young series and I absolutely love the series and this book. You can read this as a stand alone but you will want to read the others because it is so good. The author has such a great way of describing each of the characters in the book. I had no problem getting myself into the story and wishing I had that family. All of the Young family members are just what we all need in our country now and of course, who doesn’t want a handsome hero.
In this story, Daniella Knight, shows up in town and is a hermit. Unfortunately, her house burns down. As she is trying to go back into the house to grab her laptop, since she’s an author and working on the last chapter, a firefighter stops her and throws her over his shoulder to get her out of danger. That firefighter, Huntley Young, wanted to make sure no one goes in but he does go in and gets the laptop. Since Daniella is new and town and basically has no family, the Young brothers convince her to stay at their parent’s place until things get settled down and the house is rebuilt. She cannot believe how friendly and loving the Youngs family is but it’s still hard for her to trust anyone. The one thing the Young’s were really wondering is why Daniella has a german shepherd,Tigger, that is professionally trained to protect her. So many questions to be answered by Daniella and of course, Huntley, finds her attractive and someone he may want to make a life with. As the story goes on we see the insecurities with Daniella along with trust issues and Huntely finds himself in love with the woman and would do anything to protect her. The question will be can Daniella trust someone again after a horrific experience and is Huntley willing to court her even though she seems to live her life as the characters in the books she writes. I look forward to more in the Loving a Young series since I absolutely love the entire family!
Huntley, by Stacy Eaton Loving a Young series, book 3.
Sometimes when I’m reading a contemporary romance and everything is going great between the couple, but I can’t relax because I know something bad is going to happen and I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop. That’s how I felt reading Huntley.
Daniella is an author. Just when she’s about a chapter from finishing her book her dog goes nuts and takes her outside. She realizes that her house is on fire and calls 911. This is the catalyst that drives the story. At the scene of the fire she meets a paramedic and later Huntley, one of the firefighters. They insist she come stay with their parents since their small town has no lodging available.
It’s clear from the beginning that a Daniella has a traumatic past and many secrets that she is unwilling to reveal, even as a relationship begins to develop between Daniella and Huntley. This is where I felt like shaking Daniella and telling her to tell the truth because secrets can destroy trust. Oh. well. Characters in novels never listen to me.
I don’t want to give the impression that I didn’t enjoy the book. I did and I plan to read more of the series. The combination of the large Young family and the suspenseful plots is captivating and you feel like you know everybody in the small town. The frustration with the characters was all me.
Overall I recommend the book. The mystery is revealed slowly giving you time to figure things out along with the characters in a satisfying way. The romance is believable and the Young family characters are a hoot. It was a fun experience despite wanting to give Dani a talking to early on.
I received a review copy of this book. My opinions are always my own. Who else would claim them?
What a FANTASTIC book!! Every moment of this book was something to love! The characters were well developed and had so much depth to them. The story itself was incredible and unlike anything I’ve read before. The steam is a slow burn and totally worth the wait. The ending was not what I expected but definitely perfect for this couple!
Daniella is an author in hiding with her protective guard dog. His dog was another fantastic character in this book! When her house burn down, she meets Huntley, and her life will never be the same! She meets his amazing family, the Young’s, and finally experiences being loved and cared for. Unfortunately she struggles to remain in reality, especially when Huntley reminds her so much of her fictional hero, Jake.
Huntley was a swoon worthy character. His love and care for his family was beautiful. His patience and feelings for Daniella were relationship goals. He even tried to be patient with his tendency to sink into her fictional world. I loved the way that this was written as well. The blend between reality and fiction was incredibly well done and came together is such a unique and fascinating way.
The added layer of suspense really brought this story to life. Having a house burn down around you and your life an unending question mark added a lot to the character of Daniella. It also added a lot to the story as she lives in fear or what might come next. Finally, the ending of the book was perfection. I didn’t expect what happened but I enjoyed it very much! It really brought back into the story that Daniella is an author and uses that to give her and Huntley a beautiful ending.

This is the third book in the Loving a Young series. If like me, you are new to the series, rest assure that it is a stand alone. Danielle Knight is a suspense romance author, who, with her very protective dog, Trigger, has recently moved to the area. She left her former home after an attack by a stalker. The trauma is still there and she has become sort of a recluse. When she a fire is about to destroy her home she is rescued by an off duty firefighter . Huntley Young is this man. Now homeless, Hunt’s brother offers his parent’s home . Dani falls in love with his family and Hunt with her. But what happens when Dani continues to live the lives of her characters? How can she continue to call Hunt by a fictional name? Is she in love with the character and not Hunt? Was using fiction a way to protect herself from the past? The plot of the story was engaging and the characters complex. I have to confess that as much as I loved Hunt and the Young family, I had a hard time with Dani. I understood her trauma, but was not happy with the way her comments affected Hunt. I am now looking forward to reading the first books of the series, and any future ones. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is a fun one! Stacy Eaton continues her Loving a Young series with Huntley. He is quite the man! Going to a house fire, he helps Daniela get out, save her dog and find a place to stay. Now she is staying with his parents and this is the last thing she wants. She moved to town to hide after being stalked by a fan. As a famous romance author, she never thought someone would become obsessed with her, and starting over in a small town where no one knows her seems perfect, until the house fire. Now she has people fussing over her, and she is getting a taste of what it's like to be living in this particular small town. She and Huntley have taken a liking to each other, but she still holds secrets, which may just be the breaking tie between them. Plus, the danger is still lurking and she feels that need to flee. What happens? Eaton is a master at the small town suspense romance, and I am all in for this. The fun the women have with the books, the fantastic dog and the building of feelings had me, but then the thrills come and I am a goner. I couldn't stop listening. It's nonstop action and fun.
Cathryn Royce voices this gem and it's amazing. I love a great narrator and she brings this one alive. Looking forward to more.
My first read by this author, and I will be reading more. Besides jumping into book three of a series and never feeling lost. A quick read for me and hard to put down. Lots of details, but never feeling bogged down. I felt part of the story as it unfolded. Huntley tells my feeling best when he describes what Daniella’s words mean to him.
When I read small-town stories, I love meeting families like the Young’s. They genuinely love to take care of people, friends, or strangers.
Daniella lives in her head most days, listens to voices, and is a best-selling romance author. Tigger is her companion and german shepherd guard dog. She is a survivor. But is she living in the world of her books or real life? Huntley is a dedicated firefighter and member of the close-knit Young family.
After the trauma of a stalker sends her to the small town to be invisible, she loses everything to a house fire where she meets Huntley, the first to respond to the fire. As she tries to rebuild her life, can Huntley and his family try to help her heal?
Can she heal from her past and let Huntley in?
Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Author Stacy Eaton knows how to give us readers a wonderful book that covers all the bases from mystery to romance as well as family ties too. This is book three in the Young family series and it definitely can be read as a stand-alone but each one of the Young siblings is a trip and a hunk so far so grab each one and go along on the ride. This one starts off with author Daniella Knight and her K9 Tigger being run out of a burning home into the arms of a fireman Huntley. Oh, what a wonderful opening scene of the book this is and it sets up the mystery and intrigue for the rest of the book. Plus that instant chemistry that our author is so good about giving us in her books. If you have read books one and two in this series you will be happy to know that some of the characters pop in to say HI and catch up. I am so looking forward to Riley, the daughter in the family's book next. You know this book series would make for good tv watching.
I really enjoyed Huntley by Stacy Eaton. It is the third book in her Loving a Young series and definitely worth reading if you love small town romances centered around wonderful families, alpha males and the women that love them. Daniella and Huntley meet the night her house is set on fire, but no one knows if this is a random attack or something more personal so Huntley offers her place to stay with his parents since she is new in town and has no other options. He and his family soon realize she comes with a lot of secrets that she isn't willing to share which makes keeping her safe even more difficult. In spite of that Huntley finds himself falling in love with her, but will her secrets and past push him away or will she realize that what they have is worth fighting for? I'm looking forward to reading more books in this wonderful series!
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
4.5 Stars Another winner in this series. This is the third book in the series. I couldn't put this one down. It had me hooked right from the beginning to the end. I loved Huntley and Daniella. My heart goes out to Daniella with everything she has been through. Now another tragic event happens. This time she gains so much more when the Young family steps in to help her. The Youngs are a family everyone would want to be part of. Man Huntley is going to make you swoon. He's bound and determined for Daniella's dog to like him. Makes me chuckle watching Huntley do just that. This book gave me the right amount of suspense and steam, but also it packs the feels. I love that Daniella is a romance author and enjoyed some of these characters fangirling about her. That made me happy. Daniella so deserves to be part of the Young family, but will her past cost her everything all over again. This is a must read!
Daniella is a well-known romance author who has suffered a lot of trauma in her young life. When she's stressed, she has a tendency to confuse the people in real life with those that she creates in her novels. When both worlds bleed over, she sees her characters and not the real person. It's a great premise and it's quite well-done, but it causes a major problem the next time Daniella is traumatized. Huntley Young is a firefighter and he's called on to save Daniella's life by keeping her from running back into her burning house. Of course, after the stress begins to take over, she's confusing Huntley with her book hero Jake. It's clever and it certainly points out how PTSD can be so destructive, but as Stacy Eaton always does, it's written beautifully. The narration by Catherine Royce was very well-done. Her clear, dynamic voice, steady pace and intonation gave each of the characters a unique personality and attitude.
Daniella Knight is an author, but after an incident with a fan, she is shaky and nervous, practically a hermit. She takes comfort in her dog, Tigger, trained to protect her. When her home catches on fire, Daniella’s only thought it to race back inside and save her laptop which is critical in her performing her work.
Fireman Huntley Young was attracted to the lovely woman when he had to stop her from running back into her burning house. He hefted her over his shoulder and carried her away from the danger. He also rescued her laptop for her. Since she was now homeless, his awesome family invited her to stay with them, which was a new experience for her. Will she come out of her dream world to realize what Huntley is offering her with his love? Or will she continue to live out the fictional story line of her books and never know real love?
Book 3 finds us meeting Daniella Knight a suspense romance author who has moved to town with her protection dog Trigger. She meets the youngest Young, Huntleywhen her house catches on fire. Their atraction is immediate. But this couple has a lot to work through. I enjoyed this story. While the couple was meant to be together, there are issue that are unseen initially. Daniella is dealing with PTSD, which neither she nor Hunt are aware of at the time. Tragedy strikes and brings it to the forefront but can these two find there way back to each other? Enjoyable characters. Great depth. Story that flows well. Look forward to Riley's book. This is an honest voluntary review.
The writing style for me. I personally dot. Like when stuff is over explained. It makes it seem like the author needed to meet a word count.
“There were shelves along the wall with a few knickknacks, but most of the stuff that filled them looked handmade. Probably from her children over the years. There were mugs of all shapes and colors, plates with handprints, and a couple of houses built out of toothpicks and popsicle sticks, among many other things.” I’m sorry but why is this part of the book and if it’s made of popsicle sticks of course it’s from her kids, why else would you keep it.
I was also only 15% into the book and the amount of times I read “well trained dog”.
I love this series and I love the Young family. Huntley is such a great character, caring, giving, kind and patient. Daniella is also a great character, she is a survivor. I love the small-town quality of the cast of characters and how close-knit the family is. I really enjoyed the subtle look into Daniella's writings and the scenes in her head. I also like the unique look at her traumas and how she processed them and basically protected herself from them. I love the ups and downs and ins and outs. Oh and I love Tigger, he is the best dog ever! Really great addition to this series.
Want a synopsis? not getting it here. This is the Stacy Eaton I love - a complex story with interconnections, great detail, compelling storyline and believable characters. This is the 3rd in the series. Nifty thing to note about this series is you do not have to read in order. While it helps, enough details are provided that you can jump in anywhere. The Youngs almost seem too good to be true - such gentlemen, not conceited, honest and caring - but if we are honest we all know men like this. Love that while they are alpha they are kind and caring. Real issues, real family. Gotta love this story
Wow! What a great idea for a book. Huntley and Daniella are awesome as are all the other characters. But this story had so many interesting things going on. The insight into an author’s mind, the line between fiction and reality, a love story, a huge amazing family dynamic, suspense and intrigue. This whole story just blew me away. I have to say that I’m sad that I just read the last two words, the end. I would love more, but everything was wrapped up so perfectly I don’t know how there could be more. I have my first book hangover of 2021. Thank you so much.
This written in a way that you feel as if you are there with the characters. Huntley is a fireman, hot and trustworthy. Danielle is a romance writer who has a problem differentiating between fiction and reality. When Danielle finds herself in danger Huntley steps in. The story is told through both perspectives. When the danger involves Huntley's family and a life is at stake Danielle retreats to her fictional world and their relationship is jeopardized. You will learn why Danielle does what she does and how she finally takes steps to remedy it.
When a small town dedicated firefighter meets a writer from nowhere. Daniella loses everything but gains a new family, new friends and a love interest from her books well is it all fiction or reality ?! Love the tight bound , the teasing and the easy-going ways between the Young family members. The warmth and welcoming feelings are pouring thru the pages and I even felt safe for Daniella with Patricia and David ! This series is fun to read and a nice mix of love, a little sexiness but not too much and a dash of drama. Can't wait to see what Riley has in store for us into the next book !
This was quite an interesting story. It had so many mixed elements to it, including the way that Daniella has a difficult time separating herself from her romantic reality mindset. It made her a very unique character. I loved Hunter! He has all of the hero qualities that anyone could ask for and he begins to really care for Daniella. The question is if he can keep her safe, including from herself. Can Daniella pull herself together to see what’s right in front of her?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Huntley, having been betrayed by his previous fiance, unexpectedly turned out to be a rather heroic character. His prospective lover, Daniella, was, on the other hand, rather bizarre: a functional but broken woman. Their story included some unexpected twists. It does have a positive ending but definitely not an HEA. Perhaps that will be a footnote in one of his siblings' stories.
A great romance story with a ton of suspense and a heroine dealing with lots of trauma in a very unconventional way. I love the small-town aspect of this series, and the sibling comradery and affection the Young family exhibits for each other is amazing to read. Huntley and Daniella were a couple I was rooting for from the beginning of the book, especially when I wasn't entirely sure Huntley's friend Eathan didn't also have designs 0n Daniella. Overall, an emotional rollercoaster and a great book.
This is book 3 of the series and I love it just as much, if not more than the first 2 books! I was totally hooked from the get-go! Daniella is a romance author who lives in seclusion with her guard dog Tigger. Instead of living in "real life", she was content living life vicariously through her book characters...which worked just fine for her until she met Huntley when he rescued her from a house fire. Now fantasy and real life are so intertwined that she can't tell the difference...however, Huntley can! Great read - full of suspense, intrigue, and romance!
Daniella is a famous writer and she is used to live inside her imagination. She is been living as an hermits for the last six month a father a dangerous incident. When her house is set on fire handsome firefighter Huntley Young and his family help her, and for the first time, Daniella has a taste of what a real family is and what been loved and protected. Can she really see the real Huntley or is he another one of her fictional characters? Great love and life story.
I enjoyed reading about the intense feelings in this relationship. The trials, the emotional drama and the unexpected passion. The chemistry between the H and h is undeniable and unexpected. The fear, the suspense, the concern lead them down paths tjey did not anticipate. Connecting with the characters may come easy in this story, following the plot might not be

I really enjoyed "Huntley" by Stacy Eaton. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but I would gladly pay full price for the books that this author writes. This series has something for everyone - small town, action, romance, hunky heroes, and strong female leads. This is certainly a stand-alone book, but the series is so good, why not start at the beginning. This is a great addition to your book collection. Happy Reading...enjoy!
Stacy is quickly becoming my favorite author! Her stories have heart, great plot, great characters and plenty of steam! Huntley is another fantastic Young brother. He's a firefighter and his new lady love is an author. They just fit. I love Huntley's treatment of Daniella and I love that Daniella is an independent woman. I want to go live in this small town and have Momma Young take me under her wing! Neck, Papa Young too! Another hit from Stacy and well worth the read!
Loved this story about a writer who gets so involved with her characters, it's hard to separate from realty. That's what happens with Huntley who is the fireman who showed up when her house was on fire. Tigger, her German Shepherd, didn't take kindly to him or anyone else getting close to her. See he's her protection dog. She had to change her name because of an incident that happened to her before. Good story with a HEA.
