Dragons are real. But what about her feelings for one?
After losing her business, her husband, and her old life, Lilly Vickers is forced to move back in with her parents. She’s not looking for love, but instead is hoping to find a new passion that will provide her with the means to finally move out. A chance encounter with one of the dragon shifters of Five Peaks gives her an idea for a business. What she doesn’t expect, is just what will happen when he shows up again. This time, she can’t ignore the intense chemistry that exists between them.
Trent Atrox is putting on a front. He’s told Lilly he’s at her new shop to help her because he wants to, but the truth isn’t quite that bright and cheery. The real reason he’s there, is because the most recent damage was his fault and he’s been ordered to help fix it. What he didn’t plan for, was that he would fall for her. Now he’s stuck in a lie, and he doesn’t know how to get out of it. Not without Lilly seeing him for who he really is…
Even with the pair of them working to fix the damage, they’re facing an uphill battle. Not everyone who has come to Five Peaks in the wake of the dragons going public with their existence are fans. A small but growing group is becoming more outspoken, denouncing anything to do with dragons, including shops like Lilly’s. Though she sells nothing but dragon trinkets and memorabilia, they want to bring her down. Can this pair of self-professed screw-ups manage to repair her shop and themselves, while not destroying their budding relationship? Or will the dragons’ enemies succeed in stopping them both?
Riley is one of those early-morning people you love to hate, because she swears she doesn't need caffeine, even though the coffee-maker is connected to her smartphone. She lives in a three-story townhouse by the good graces of a tabby-cat who rules the house, the couch, the table, well, basically everywhere. When she's not groveling for forgiveness for neglecting to pet her kitty enough, Riley is strapped in to her writing chair coming up with crazy worlds where she can make her own decisions of when feeding time is and how much coffee can be drank without her friends--of which she has three--holding yet another intervention that they threaten to post on the internet.
First in the Dragons of Mount Atrox paranormal romance series and revolving around the dragon clans of Five Peaks. The couple focus is on Lilly Vickers and Trevor Atrox.
My Take Yeah, I know parents have had more experience of the world, but they also need to take into account their child's passion. The Vickerses are so negative!
Lilly made some mistakes that were disastrous, but it also seems that she's learned from it.
That third person dual protagonist point-of-view from Lilly's and Trevor's perspectives creates some fun moments with each of them wondering about their attraction to each other, if they should try and touch each other again, if they're going too fast, if, if, if . . . Trevor wants so much to impress Lilly.
Then Lilly whines on about having sacrificed her principles, making it sound as if her ex was someone for whom she had done that sacrificing . . . but that's not what she was saying earlier. I thinks she's making some lame excuses.
Oh, man. Jacen lets Trevor have it, and I suspect he's right.
Lilly certainly makes some good points about college, the economy, and the effect the Internet has on it. Trevor also makes a good point, attempting to see from Lilly's parents' perspective.
Oooh, bigotry . . . on BOTH sides.
Lilly cannot be thinking. She sure jumps on her own interpretation quickly, any interpretation that keeps her from committing. How is it charity that the man who destroyed her store is willing to spend his money to repair what he wrecked? Later events make me wonder how much of a coward she is.
Those religious idiots try my soul. Such unchristian people. The way that preacher is calling the dragons and Lilly evil when the religious nutjobs are the ones vandalizing her shop and attempting to intimidate her. What jerks!
It's a story that's action-packed but driven by its characters with a pace that varies.
A fun story, it needs smoothing out and more finesse with a love story that is too abrupt and awkward.
The Story It was one invasion after another into Lilly's life. Her parents, a saboteur, a dragon intruding into her meditation spot . . .
Then the vandal shows up and confesses.
He also rips a new one on the parents.
The Characters Lilly Vickers has been divorced and forced to live with her parents for about a year now. She intends to open The Dragon's Treasure, a curio shop of dragon items, with her savings. Her dad is an accountant. Randy is her ex-husband. Claire is her best friend.
Trent Atrox is a storm dragon (part of Clan Atrox) with a tempest of negativity swirling in his mind.
Five Peaks Little Cerino's is an Italian restaurant and mostly a takeout place. Patrick is the manager of Climbers, a nice restaurant and where Lilly works? worked? as a waitress. Rodney owns the convenience store next to The Dragon's Treasure. Laura Fitzgerald is a real estate agent for the dragons.
Clan Atrox Rann and Pietro go on a mission with Trent. Kladd is a team leader. Caladin is a captain in the Gate Guard. Damien. Jacen is quite the snarky dragon. Victor had been the last Atrox clan head.
Lothek is an ice dragon. The Shaft is a distillery and bar buried in the side of Mount Atrox.
Clan Aterna Pace Aterna has been investing Trent's treasure.
Clan Valen Nico is a dragon there who found his mate, Stephanie. She has a house to sell.
Five Peaks Sheriff's Department Deputy Carla Frazer-Aterna is mated to a dragon.
The Church of the Anti-Wyrm (CAW) is . . . . . . a hate group who hates dragons and anyone who supports them.
The Agency had been . . . . . . a rogue branch of government based in Five Peaks and creating enhanced humans and weapons that could kill dragons. Wilson was once part of The Agency.
The Otherworld is a plane of existence where the enemies of humanity live: Fae, trolls, orcs, goblins, elves, vampires, and more. Gates are the only way for denizens of Otherworld to come to earth. The Gate Trevor's clan is responsible for is on Mount Verdent. Fire dragons breath fire; as humans, they can conjure it. Frost dragons are the second most common with power over ice, snow, etc. Storm dragons control electromagnetic fields and the weather that comes with lightning and energy, wind, etc. Earth dragons are the rarest and control the earth's elements.
The Cover and Title The cover provides a brown mountainous background with a frontal close-up of Trevor's amazing torso of muscles. Ooh, mama! Color comes from the orange and sparking yellow background for the title, a background that continues around Trevor's waist. At the top left is the orange-to-yellow logo for the Five Peaks universe (text in white). Starting at Trevor's waist is the title with the first word in white and the rest in a deep brown with a smidgeon of orange popping through on the final "t". The series info is immediately below it in white with the author's name (in white) at the bottom. Between the series info and the author's name is a nasty looking beast in orange. I suspect it crawled out of the Gate!
The title is what Trevor discovers, the Dragon's True Mate.
Dragon's True Mate is the first wonderful book in the Dragons of Mount Atrox series.
Someone is after the dragons and is using their blood and scales as weapons against them. The five families keep to themselves but when someone wants the one person they can't live without it is time to find out what is going on and take them out.
With Fated mates, dragons, fighting and magic you will not want to put this book down.
Pissed at the world he causes damage that he is forced to fix but in doing so he realises he has found what he has hoped for.
Lily’s World is going to ruin, the last year everything that she worked hard for is now gone and to make matters worse she’s had to move back in with her parents who have no support for her. They don’t see her potential, they think they know what’s best for her but what they want isn’t the same as what Lily wants out of life. One night as she goes out to think about her life she sees a man stripping down and then right in front of her eyes he turns into a dragon. A beautiful blue dragon and it’s like it’s a sign she now knows what she wants to do with her life.
Trent is living in hell. Blaming himself for the loss of their leader but trying to continue to lead a life where everyone around him can see how much he’s hurting. He’s out with his pack looking for members of the church that are still trying to make the shifters life hell. When he comes across a shop selling Dragon statues and figurines it’s sickening to him that somebody is making money on their kind. He can’t control his anger and he smashes up the windows he destroys the electrics. But he is made to pay for this, not with money but with helping the shop owner to get the shop up and running again. He’s put back on guarding the gates to the otherworld. Which is playing up
Lily can’t believe what has happened to her shop once again if it’s not getting graffitied the windows are getting smashed it’s just such an uphill battle to get the shop open. But when the man she’d seen weeks ago who turned into a dragon offers to help her fix her shop because he was the one that damaged it she can’t believe her luck she doesn’t understand why he did it and he’s not gonna explain. They seem to rub each other up the wrong way and the first meeting doesn’t go so well. Will he be back tomorrow???? This was a lovely story. Learning to actually about finding out who you! There’s quite a few little twists and turns in this book that keep the pages turning. But what I really liked was their banter and the way the chemistry was and how they just bounce off each other. The start of another fantastic series.

Lilly accidentally saw more then just mother nature's beauty. by and1515
Lilly had hoped to just standing there breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the awesome view might help her cope with the travesty her life had been reduced to until she accidentally saw something Lilly was pretty sure she wasn't meant to but had. However on the home front the looks her parents gave her and when her father kept pushing about this or that Lilly thought she was going to lose her mind. Never once did he want to hear how things had changed and out of date with reality they unfortunately we're. They did nothing but constantly nag her about her new idea for a business and how she was going to flat out fail. And the fact they kept harping about going back to school which she honestly couldn't wrap her head around. She had some money but they were nuts if they thought she would go in debt for a piece of paper. Lilly was in shock when she saw the state of her store. But that's when she noticed him, yeah she'd seen him before a couple weeks ago. Neither one could see past there own point a view he felt marginalized and didn't like the idea of being exploited for money. While she totally saw it in a different light. Holy moly the attraction between them could revel a nuclear blast. Once he realized just how special Lilly was he was done and now he'd do anything to keep her safe from those who would try and use his precious Lilly against him.

I wasn't sure at first about Trent. He really was a bit of a jerk after the original meeting between him and Lilly. But he did get better, and boy, did he show growth. Lilly has had a number of tough breaks but she is bound and determined to get through all of it. Trent really messed up her new store when they were going after some bad guys. Then he neglected to mention certain things to her. It takes a while to figure out why he is acting the way he is, but it all becomes clear during the story. Like I said, he showed a lot of growth.
The pace is fast, the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are vivid and well drawn. I can't wait to see where this series goes next. It is interesting to see what is happening now that the dragons have exposed themselves.
We are now starting with a new dragon clan that are members of the five peaks This time we get Trent from the Mount Atrox and like all of these series it is a fast paced fun read that keeps you engaged until you turn the last page.
Lilly has had to return home to live with her parents after losing not only her husband but also her business she is hoping that she can regroup an find a reason to live life to the full again. She meets Trent one of the dragon shifters of Mount Atrox he agrees to help her when she decides to open a new shop She thinks he is been helpful he is really doing it only because he has been ordered to after doing the damage. What he doesn't expect is that Lilly is his mate and has hes feelings for her grow he will do anything to protect her Especially as there is a growing movement against the dragons and anything or anyone who has dealings with them. Can they get a HEA you will have to read to see
Patience is not a four letter word. We meet a new set of dragon after the fall of the Agency. They have risidual problems, but new problems too. Trent is struggling with an esteem issue. He made a few mistakes in his past that weigh heavily on him. It puts him on his leader's radar. Lilly has had a few disappointments in her life, and must move back home with her parents to recover. Trent tends to act out from his emotional turmil and then have to regroup and fix his behavior. Lilly had a great business idea after accidentally meeting Trent, when she catches transforming to his dragon. They had a nice conversation. The next time they meet, Trent had unwisely acted out and was ordered to make restitution to Lilly for his inconsiderate bad behavior. Will Lilly take time to get to know Trent? Will Trent open his mind and listen? How will the fallout from the Agency impact Trent and Lilly? Nice story. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
DNF - quit at 42% Overall, what I read was super cheesy and predictable. Lines/thoughts like “Is he going to kiss me? I think he’s going to kiss me.”- it was at that point I quit. I need the books I read to sound realistic, not a bunch of cheesy unrealistic stuff. It almost made it feel like those old romances from the 70’s, that they used to call bodice rippers... I also felt the main characters were flat, & for some reason, I don’t have the energy to decipher, I just didn’t like them. The actual backstory wasn’t horrible, but because I hadn’t read the original series this was split off from, I was a bit lost about the world building, which also took away from the story as a whole for me.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
Trent a storm dragon is one of the dragon guards who guard the portal at Mount Ayrox. The humans only found out about them a year ago but don't know what they are really doing there. He has been drinking because he blames himself for a year for not being there to save their leader and discharges a lot of power into a new so to open dragon themed store in front of his boss. He is ordered to return in the morning and work there for two weeks to repair all the damage ( not to just pay for it but to fix it himself). But he doesn't tell the young woman who owns it the whole story which will come back to bite him in his rear. He tells that he is there to fix the mess he made and finally after a rescue of her and her friend from a group of men she lets him help. Their relationship changes back and forth a little as it builds into one built on love and trust.
Lilly is back in her home town of five peaks living with her parents. She needs a new goal in her life and she finds it in opening a shop about Dragons. But that isn’t easy, because not everybody agrees with it, including her parents. Trent has a problem with his past and takes it out on Lilly her shop. Now he is forced to help her get it okay again and she think he does it from his own free will.
Things don’t go as plan, because Trent has feelings for Lilly and even discovers she is his mate. But Lilly can move on from her past, but can Trent do the same with his? Or will he never recover? Put in some extra’s with a gate which is doing weird and spooky things and the group who is against Lilly and her shop and you have a great read with action, evil, love, trust and more.
If you like a good Dragon shifter story, this is certainly one.
Action-packed dragon story tangled with an array of emotions ranging from suspense, mystery, secrets, friendships and family drama and love. The story line, plot and idea are well thought out, with danger lurking, twists and turns and surprising revelations. The character development and personalities have depth and growth tangled with realistic array of emotions and actions.
Trent is a dragon shifter that has some serious self doubt and an attitude to go with it needs to fix Lilly's store that he destroyed while fighting some bad guys. When Trent is forced to fix Lilly's store he is total jerk fighting while his attraction to her. As they work together to get her store ready for opening, they have to acknowledge the intense chemistry and later love between them. Awesome Read

Dragon's True Mate (Dragons of Mount Atrox Book 1) by Riley Storm I love a story that can grab my attention and keep it to the end. This author is new to me so, when I read Lilly and Trent’s first meeting, I had a big smile and a vivid image of Lilly’s first impression of Trent in both his forms, I knew I wasn’t going anywhere until I finished this book. I enjoyed the creative world building with a rogue dragon who exposed the dragon shifters existence to the world, and the trouble that came because of it. The storyline is engaging with action, danger, racial bias tensions, and strong complex characters with an off the charts steaming chemistry that will warm your coldest of nights! Happy Reading♥️
Reader Advisory: Adult rated. This story contains explicit descriptions of smoking hot open bedroom door romance scenes and strong language. (Adult content starts after apprx 40%) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lilly lost everything, so she has had to move back home with her parents. After an unexpected meeting, she has finally come up with an idea that she believes will be a success. She is going to open a shop in down town Five Peaks that will be dedicated to everything "dragon" she can possibly find. Unfortunately one thing after another seems to be going wrong. Trent Atrox is at Lilly's shop when she gets to work, and tells her he is there to help repair the damages to her business, what he doesn't tell her is that he is responsible for the the damage. Compelling, sweet, and well written characters, in a book with action, suspense, and some interesting twists in the plot. Great read.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Dragon's True Mate by Riley Storm is the first book in the Sin-off series Dragons of Mount Atrox. This was a sexy (Mature Readers Only) romp of a read. Trent Atrox is a dragon with a chip on his shoulder and a ton of attitude. Lilly is a human looking for herself and definitely not in the mood for anyone's attitude. When they are put together, they combust. I love the snark and drama that is peppered with humor and lust. A fun read that makes you take stock and squint at your self image. This book does reference events from a previous series, but can be read as stand alone.

A new series that is part of a larger series “Five Peaks”. We now meet the dragons from the Atrox mountain and family. Dragons are now known as real by the world and everyone seems to want to see them or say they are the beginning of the apocalypse. Trent is a weather dragon and definitely has some issues. His past haunts him and has led to some poor decisions. One being when he decides to destroy a store just because it is selling dragon items. Lilly is the unfortunate owner. Luck and her own bad decisions have left her with almost nothing. But having an idiot dragon destroy her ship before it opens may just destroy her. The story has action as well as romance. I can’t wait to meet the next Atrox dragon.
Now that everyone knows about the dragons, Lilly isn't truly surprised when she sees and talks to one while she is watching the stars one night. It gives her an idea for a business and she goes all out to bring it to fruition before everyone else gets on the bandwagon. A store selling dragon pieces. But one night her store gets destroyed before she even has a chance to open it. Turns out it was Trent, the dragon she was talking to. A cranky but totally gorgeous dragon. A determined beautiful woman. Crazies. Dragons. Lots of broken glass. Again and again. At the point of a gun. A wonderful friend. What a wonderful story.
Trent Atrox, one of the dragon shifters of Five Peaks, felt guilty ever since his commander had been killed a year ago. When he destroys a shop with dragon memorabilia out of anger he is ordered to do the repairs. The owner of the shop, Lilly, tries to stay upbeat despite the constant set-backs fate is giving her. She is cautious when Trent comes to help her with the shop repairs, but over the next few days they come closer. For Trent, it is paramount - as he recognizes Lilly as his mate... The story contains the usual problems - fighting with CAW, trouble with the Gate. An entertaining mix. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Just cannot get enough of these dragons! The author pulls us into the lives of Trent and Lilly and never lets go. Trent feels like a failure and he does not have a very high opinion of himself. Lilly feels like a failure, but that is not going to stop her from trying her best. They have a connection but each will have to overcome their issues to ever have a chance for a relationship. We are given suspense, danger, action and love that keeps us turning the pages.

Trent a storm dragon, continues to feel guilty over him missing a creature that came through the Gate to the Other World. Not only does he feel culpability from this, he also feels everyone blames him. Then he meets Lilly who is also feeling insecure from her actions. The story includes angst, feelings of inferiority, threats, kidnapping, and love. Strong and engaging characters have occurred throughout this series, and Lilly and Trent remain true to this. Good read!

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. I thought that this was a really good paranormal love story. You can never go wrong with dragons in my opinion. Trent and Lilly have a really interesting love story. They might have started off on a lie, but they are mates and that gives him a better chance of fixing it all. It was a good story with interesting characters

Lilly is trying to open a shop that sells art and treasures about the newly revealed dragons. When she comes to her store it’s been destroyed she will soon find out who did it. Truant show up to help her put her store back together because he is the one that did the damage. Lilly not sure if she wants his help he has a chip on his shoulder. But soon thing start to change and they soon become more then just friends. But like always trouble is just waiting. So enjoy the read and see how they handle the trouble!!
This is a story of two people who have found each other. Though the man has the ability to turn into a dragon. At first the only places he can turn into his dragon form is around his clan or his close friends who are dragons themselves. Or even around his new girlfriend. He has to be careful of who's around so that people who don't know him are around for his ability is secret, only a few know about him. Towards the end of the story where everyone knows about him and his way of life.
Very well done. Good plot and well written. I liked it. There was excitement, danger and love. I do hope that the dragons find out what is going on soon with the Gate. I wounder if they will have to ask for help from the humans that they have protected all this time. It would be something else to see how that would go. ARC Review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I'm five peaks Lilly is opening her new store the dragons treasure after seeing a dragon one night . When she finds her store has been vandalized she finds Trent atrox a storm Dragon there to help her only he is more she knows . This story is 10 stars for the fantastic writing and how it draws you in page by page.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I become truly excited reading a novel that contains additional facts about dragon lore. Both Lilly and Trent had past secrets that caused such poor self images. They both met each other in opportune times for positive change in their lives. I would love reading more about how these life changes could further direct their lives.
Clan Atrox...Trent and Lilly do not start off in a good way. Emotions can get in the way very easily and Trent lets them. However, Lilly has things to over come with her emotions too. Lots of interest still happens in Five Peaks with the announcement of dragons, but they will get through it

This is the first book of a new series, Dragon's True Mate. Loved the storyline as it kept me reading till the very end. There is action, suspense, sizzles, and electric chemistry. There is nothing like a great dragon story and Riley Storm is a master of them. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
