"My cabin. My rules."

Three years of celibacy was my life.
But now Angela's presence makes things exceptionally.... hard .

After the winter storm, she was supposed to be a temporary guest.
But, Santa must have a sick sense of humor...

I'm addicted to every inch of her.
Her full breasts.
Her curvy hips.
Those sweet innocent eyes filled with untapped potential.

The problem is I don't ask. I take. And if let myself loose....
I'm afraid nothing will stop me from having all of her.

I picked this book up for a challenge. I didn’t have this series on my radar before, but I’m so glad I do now. ‘Lumberjacked’ not only is a quick read and fun romance, it also has a solid plot and some action going on.

I liked both main characters. Viktor is huge and broody and has a dark past that he thought he left behind. Angela is fierce, sunny but also very stupid. She actually is one of the dumbest heroines I’ve ever encountered. How could she have not suspected why Viktor lives alone in the forest, isolated from the world? When she finds out about his past, she is so shocked. There are many more examples for her stupidity throughout this book and some had me laughing out loud. She was still lovable, but also… really, really dense.

And if you don’t like the miscommunication trope, this isn’t the book for you. A lot of conflict in this book, actually, all conflict between our main couple results through miscommunication. One normal conversation would have prevented almost everything that happened.

Overall this book is not a bad book. I had lots of fun with it. The romance is really good and there are lots of steamy scenes, which I enjoyed. This isn’t the most realistic book, but I think it works. I’m looking forward to the second book in this series and read more about Axel.

Lumberjacked is a book that I dove into for a specific challenge. It also doesn't hurt that I saw someone else read it either. So, I figured why not and dove into this holiday book.

With Christmas, in my mind, being basically around the corner I was pretty excited to get into the festive spirit. Sure, we still have Halloween and Thanksgiving to get through, but Christmas has a special place in my heart. Probably always will.

That being said, it was pretty easy to get through this one. Especially after meeting Viktor and Angela. Out of the two, Viktor was my favorite. He was dark and mysterious while she was fierce and something else. Not necessarily in a good way because she just felt ditzy to me (in a way). I wouldn't necessarily say she was dumb, but she did make a lot of dumb decisions. Or acted dumb sometimes too.

As for their romance, it was okay but nothing to really write home about. These two had horrible communication skills that made me want to rip out all of my hair. They also had a ton of conflict that could have easily been avoided if they were better communicators. Just saying.

In the end, it was an okay book that was easy to devour. It also left me frustrated more than anything but I'm happy to get it over with. Not sure if I will ever jump into the next book at the moment but maybe I will? Eventually.

Can I first say, this book cover is giving me life. Reading the blurb, I was expecting something different. What I thought it was is not what I got. I was surprised in a good way.

Vicktor, was a past assassin for the Russian Mob, and he is hiding out. He is living alone in his cabin and that’s the way he likes it. Here comes Angela, a damsel in distress. She is looking to start over but Mother Nature keeps stranding her in that cabin.

I love Vicktor and Angela’s chemistry, the author gave us sex scenes after sex scenes that became spicy, and I was not disappointed. However, that’s wasn’t the only thing that filled this book as I was not expecting a storyline that kept my interest. From the moment they meet until the end gained my interest.

Overall, a nice read. A few slow scenes here and there, but can be over looked because I like this story. I really thought by the blurb and the cover it was going to be a quick Santa baby kind of read hahah.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s definitely about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the stories you read. I hope this review was helpful.

This was such a fun, unexpected read! I was immediately drawn in by the characters and the author's writing. The hero was absolutely delicious--um, hello tatted up former Russian mobster hiding from his former life. The chemistry between the characters was electric and the tension between them was amplified by the danger around them. So entertaining!

This was a good read. Viktor lives in the mountains because he is trying to escape his past. Everything is going fine until Angela shows up. She turns his world upside down. Of course his past eventually catches up to him. Thankfully in the end it all works out and they get their happy ending.

Mountain Man Assassin

This book took me a while to get into.
Some curse words had ** to blurt it out, other times it said the complete word. Then their was even a section when the author started writing in third-person POV, but the rest of the book was first-person POV.

For the work this author normally puts out, I was really disappointed in this one.

The storyline itself wasn't too bad. The cover was definitely the "Okay, I'll read this" push I needed. I felt like it dragged on a lot until the very end when everything clicked into place. Angela and Viktor were polar opposites that fell in love. It was cute, I just didn't think the author executed it right.

The heat though. That was the best part if this book. The author definitely does not leave you hanging on that.

Aside from that, this book was just ok to me.

*Overall 3/5
*Heat? 5/5
*Fast Burn (34ish%)
*MF Romance
*HEA? Yes

Viktor is a former assassin for the Russian mafia who left and is living alone on a mountain. He rescues Angela and sparks fly but when his past catches up with him can he keep her safe? Fast-paced read with lots of drama, suspense and twists and turns. Entertaining and steamy. I liked it.

Love that Pulls a Heart Out of Darkness and Shadows and into the Light of Day

Angela Becker knows that it takes a mighty good man to be better than no man at all. Her dad’s ongoing physical and emotional abuse of her mother had been a constant in the family’s existence until her dad had finally—and thankfully—deserted his family. Angela’s childhood observations concerning her dad’s behavior had been her first confirmation of the questionable value of a man’s presence in a woman’s life. But even once he left, his years of mistreatment of his wife left invisible the scars on his young daughter, shaping her as a woman. And as a result, she has shied away from relationships with men, never quite trusting the intentions of all members of the male gender as a result of her formative father-daughter relationship.

Now, as an adult, the petite but feisty auburn-haired, green-eyed, curvy young woman is on the precipice of leaving her guarded life in Grizzly Falls, her hometown. Unwilling to leave her physically and emotionally scared, fragile mom, Angela has been employed as an insurance adjuster for a boss who is becoming more physically aggressive. So, having turned in her notice, with her completion of this last assignment, she will be free to leave. And her mom has grown stronger and is actually excited about Angela’s new job in Chicago as a personal assistant to a world-traveling, female CEO. The idea of constantly jetting around the world teases the imagination of both daughter and mother.

But fate and nature have other plans. In the storm prone northwestern mountains, torrential rainstorms often make the area between Snowmass and Grizzly Falls vulnerable to mudslides, and this storm delivers destruction, trapping Angela and her little green car its path. And, while escaping her car before it is swept away, Angela lacks the physical ability to escape the mudslide’s power and the resulting falling trees until she is yanked from the mass of a falling trunk and branches by a force almost as powerful as that of natural destruction. A mountain of a man—6’6” tall and all bone and muscle—plucks her from serious injury or death and pulling her with his tattooed arms into the world of his dark brooding eyes and deep baritone voice, accented with the notes of Russia. With his magnanimous physical act, he bears the physical brunt of the falling branches on his back, saving her from certain death. But, what is not apparent with the self-sacrificing act it that while Victor Ilyich has saved her in that moment, he has unintentionally pulled her into his world of danger and death. The former Bravata—a murderer, an assassin—has pulled her into his world—a world that he has travelled across a whole continent and ocean to escape, but which has now come searching for him. And a world which is about to bring its own forces of danger and chaos for a personal reckoning of revenge and chaos.

KC Crowne begins a new series of friendship and love with the first book of the Grizzly Falls Lumberjack series. Like Crowne’s other works, this first novel is full of interesting individuals dealing with the challenges that life—and their choices—have put in their paths. Each tale is a standalone romance, but the plots often allow individuals to pass through other tales, so that the reader often encounters friends and family encountered from other romances.

After finishing reading LUMBERJACKED, I just want to say that this book is so much more than the title or blurb would have you think. The Russian hero, Viktor, is not just a reclusive mountain man. He has so many secrets of why he left his homeland of Russia and came to the USA. For the past three years he has lived an isolated existence in his mountain cabin. His hidden past includes the fact that he once worked for the Russian mob. He stood 6'6” and was built of solid muscle. He also was covered in mob tattoos. You don't just “quit” the mob when you decide you want out. His former boss would like to find him, there were men from his past searching for him, and if they found him “dead or alive” wouldn't matter.

There was an awful storm and mudslide that wouldn't have reached Viktor or his cabin, if he had not heard a woman in distress. She would have surely died, if not for him running into danger to save her. He carried his petite damsel, her body limp in his arms, back to his cabin. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. After three years of living a celibacy life, her presence made things very hard for him. He was careful in caring for her injuries while ignoring his own. When she finally awoke, he found out her name was Angela, but to him she was just “Angel.”

Angela didn't know this man. He was a stranger and she felt she was stuck in a dream world. She didn't know why, but she trusted him. Of course, she knew nothing of his past, and he wanted it to stay that way. But for some reason she trusted him with her body and with her life. It was a fairy-tale, but she wasn't stupid. She wanted to know how he ended up there? Men who lived alone did so for a reason. What was he running from, hiding from? She became very frustrated when he would not answer any of her questions. The secrets of his past would become their undoing. There is plenty of suspense when it finds it's way to his door.

Lumberjacked is the first book in K.C. Crowne’s Grizzly Falls Lumberjack series. In this series we meet Angela “Angel” Becker, a 5’5” feisty beauty, and Victor Ilyich, a 6’6” muscle-bound former Bravata assassin. Both, Angel and Victor are emotionally wounded with dark demons that haunt them. She is unhappy in her current job and thinks if she fulfills her mother’s dream of moving to Chicago her life will be better. He moved from Russia to the deep mountain forest, near Grizzly Falls, that his tortured soul will heal. But Fate and Mother Nature have a different plan for them. A bad rainstorm causes a mudslide threatening to bury Angel when Victor saves her. Taking care of her, Victor realizes he is drawn to her and wants to protect her. Angel feels safe with him and feels a pull toward Victor. The storm is so bad that she needs to spend several days with him in his cabin. As they spend time together, they become romantically involved. What will happen once the roads clear? Will Angel return to Grizzly Falls and fulfill her mother’s dream? What happens to Victor? Will the sins of his past come back to haunt him? Will Angel and Victor be able to part? To discover the answers to these questions you must read this book.
I enjoyed this book. Once again, Ms. Crowne does a superb job with this well-written romantic suspense story. I like that her characters are multi-dimensional. I like how she pivots an overprotective alpha male with a strong-willed and fiery woman. This combination lends itself to build sexual tension. I enjoyed their personal journeys of facing the challenges life threw at them and how they battle their inner demons. Ms. Crowne masterfully uses descriptive language and strong conversational and internal dialog to reveal Angel and Victor’s strengths and vulnerabilities. These literary devices create action, hot steamy bedroom scenes, and intrigue that draw in and captivate her readers. Way to go, Ms. Crowne.

Viktor like his secluded cabin in the mountains and with the volatile weather no one dared trek near it until her. During a raging storm he found her and protected her from a landslide but she became unconscious, having no other option he took her back to his cabin. Angela woke up in the cabin not knowing how she got there, last she remembered was going to look at the rocks slides for insurance claims her shitty boss sent her on. Viktor couldn't deny the instant attraction he felt towards Angela but how  she managed to get so close to his cabin put him on edge he needed to know who she was. With the constant bad weather the path way back was washed away leaving Angela stuck in the cabin, not that Viktor minded she would be a loose end if she got back and started talking about the Russian in the woods. That kinda talk would let his enemies know his location, he couldn't even tell her why she couldn't talk about him to others cos then Angela would see the true monster he was, and not look at him with the affection he so craved. But when his past catches up to him, Viktor must become the man he tried so hard not to be.  This is a well written steamy hot insta loving, slow burning read, with an over protective Alpha male and his strong willed lady. Filled with action, suspense, desire, sizzling hot scenes and more!

Lumberjack has it all, danger, fear, uncertainty, intrigue, and lust with a side order of love. I loved Vicktor and Angela together and their intimate moments were so HOT!
Viktor is a handsome rugged mountain man who has fled Russia to get away from his past as an assassin. He’s trying to live under the radar to keep his ex-boss from finding him in Colorado when a mudslide forces him to save a stranded person whose life is in danger. To his surprise, the person he rescues is a beautiful woman.
Angela an insurance investigator on an job when the mudslide strands her. This gorgeous bearded man comes to her rescue and takes her to his secluded cabin deep in the woods.
Angela has lived a life of abuse and has watched what her mother has endured and is anxious to leave —- Falls for a job in Chicago. She discovers Viktor isn’t forthcoming in regards to his past and the danger that surrounds them. She has conflicted feeling for Vicktor after losing her v-card. Wow, the chemistry between Viktor and his Malen Kiy, is off the charts!
The impending danger finally catches up when his ex-boss finds where he is.
Will Viktor finally get his freedom? Does Angela move to Chicago to get away from her past? Could there be a happily-ever-after for these two?
This is a fantastic read! You won’t be disappointed!

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Angela and Viktor. See Viktor has been hiding out in the mountains for 3 year now and has no desire to go back to his previous life. When he hears a slide coming from some of the mountain near his cabin he knows its not safe to be out in it. That is until he sees a woman trying to run away from it all. He knows without his help she won't survive. Once he has her though he knows he can't let her go not only because he doesn't want to but if he does it could mean danger for her. Angela can't believe her boss sent her on this bogus assignment. Since she works for an insurance company she is sent out to validate the claims of all the rock slides. Little did she know to prove it might just take her life as well. When she wakes she has no clue how she got to the shack but knows the man just saved her life. She needs to get back to her life though not only for the move she planned but also so her mom doesn't think she just up and left like her dad. Can these two find a way to a HEA or will Viktor's past catch up with him and make sure that never happens?

This is an amazing story full of ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

A thrill a minute of all types guaranteed

Lumberjacked is the story of Angela and Viktor. It is a well written book with a story-line that just does not stop and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat at times and fanning yourself and you reach for something to cool your down from all the heat. Viktor is a man who has a past, and what a past it is. He was a member of the Bratva and an assassin for them. Now he is in hiding in the mountains and lives a quiet life in a secluded cabin in Colorado. Angela is an insurance adjuster who also has a past. She is in the mountains because her boss sent her but she ends up having an accident when a mud slide happens. She is rescued by a hot as heck mountain man and ends up in his cabin. When they are together there is a lot of really hot chemistry that will set your Kindle on fire. But Viktor also falls for the beautiful and feisty young woman the more time they are together. Angela also falls for Viktor but she knows he is hiding something. Together they are explosive but danger may not be far from them.
This is a rollercoaster ride of a story, but in the best way possible. By the end you will be wrung out and exhausted but thrilled and satisfied at the same time. Lumberjacked is definitely an entertaining read.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

Lumberjacked by K.C. Crowne is so much more than the cover reveals. There is plenty of romance between a muscled, alpha man and a sassy, independent woman. There are secrets, hidden past, assassins and adventure. Just when you get lulled into the romance the action picks up speed. The romance never gets lost in the story though.

Viktor is a former mobster and assassin who ran away to escape the life he was leading. Angela is a fiesty damsel in distress. Viktor comes to her rescue. In taking care of her, he falls deep in love, against his better judgement. They are opposites in appearance and temperament. I love that this small in stature woman can get to the heart of the behemoth

Lumberjacked is a great read that once you start, you won't want to put it down. I am a fan of K.C. Crowne and this book lives up to, and possibly exceeds, what I have come to expect from her.

My favorite type of storyline is one where the characters are alone in a cabin, but I really didn't care for this book at all and part of the problem I think was the characters themselves. The H walked around thinking about how much he wanted this woman and she had to get away from him, he didn't deserve her, he was a bad person, who had done bad things, (murder) but then no, he couldn't lose her, couldn't live without her. The h was a virgin and had to get home to her mother, but didn't try too hard to leave. The two of them seemed angry all the time, unless of course they were having sex. Which brings me to the sex...there was a lot of it. Pages and pages and pages of sex that got boring and I began to skim through it after awhile. The dialogue between the two was usually just arguing. Viktor shows her how to use a gun, but when the bad men come to kill them she grabs a poker, because "she's too soft" to point a gun at someone. At this point I rolled my eyes and skimmed through the rest of the pages...spoiler alert more sex. This was just not my cup of tea.

This was a great a read, a little different than what I was thinking (seems to be a theme with all the reviews) but I was pleasantly surprised. I figured this would be a quick, insta-love, she's stranded, he saves her, they fall in love after 2 days and totally change their worlds for each other.

Yes she gets stranded, yes there is amazing sex (lots of it), yes they fall in love, and yes they eventually change their worlds for each other. But this has a lot of character development, not a quick easy read and certainly some angst since he doesn't want to put her life in danger because of his past.

I was pleasantly surprised. My only complaint would be the description does not quite tell us about this book. To me, it seems like the wrong description accidentally got saved to this book. Its a great book, give it the props it deserves.

Heck people like me will read it just because its about a reclusive sexy lumberjack.

Also loving this cover, OMG, I stopped on it solely for that cover.

Excellent
Viktor a former Russian assassin who left Russia to escape the mobster life he’d been living. Angela a feisty, unhappy with her Insurance adjuster job and life is on the mountain when horrendous weather with massive flooding occurs and Angela gets stranded in the middle of a mudslide. She is rescued by the rugged mountain man. While taking care of her, he falls deeply in love with her, but he knows in his heart with his past catching up to him he is in no position to fall in love with Angela and to be able to keep her safe. The chemistry is completely off the charts. There’s plenty of secrets, untolds, action, suspense. Loved the sassiness that Angela is not afraid to display. This is a great read. Be prepared once you start you won’t want to put it down. I have read several books by this author and I’ve yet to be disappointed. Must read. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

This book is the perfect escape at this busy time of the year There is plenty of suspense and dramn and of copurse a hot romance for our alpha male

Viktor has escaped to the mountains to escape from his past a former assassin for the Bratva he wanted out of the life but knew to many secrets so the Bratva wanted him dead His life is thrown into chaos when he rescues Angela a sassy woman who wants to change her life and has headed to the mountains to think about hat she wants to do She never expected to get caught in a landslide or be rescued by a gorgeous mountain man Living in his cabin together it isn't long before they fall for one another but she knows h is keeping secrets and when she finds his guns she flees Viktor knows he has to let her go because been with him puts her in danger but he didn't expect his former colleagues to go after her. Can he get to her in time and will they get a HEA You will have to read to see

This book brings us Viktor and Angela or "Angel", as Viktor likes to call her. Viktor finds Angela and saves her from a mudslide. When he brings her to his cabin he is instantly attracted to her. When Angela awakens, she also is mesmerized by Viktor as he is a large man with many tattoos. Angela needs to go home as she is quitting her job and moving to Chicago, but is unable to do so because the roads have been washed out. The more time they spend together, their feelings become stronger until they finally give in. Viktor will not talk about his past and that is something Angela will not put up with. After finding items that she questions him about, she decides to leave. However, there are twists and turns in the story and Angela is now in deep trouble. Will Viktor arrive in time, and who has her? This is a great read and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Viktor is out checking the mudslide when he hears a yelp and sees a woman trying to out run the mud.
Viktor lives in a cabin in the mountains off the grid to stop his old boss tracking him down. He had been an enforcer/assassin in Russia but then he had a job that made him want to get out the life so he digs out the tracker that boss uses to know their whereabouts. This book was a little slow to start off with but hang in there because it’s so worth it. It had an evil Russian mob boss, killer assassins, a kidnapping, guns, lies, betrayal, new life and then love thrown in just to add some spice. Viktor use to be a Russian assassin looking to start a new life in America up in the mountains away from everyone and all was going well until a mudslide brought a gorgeous hot female that needed saving from certain death and that’s when his life changed and he let his guard down and let Angela into his heart, now they have found his weekness and will come for him, his old boss Maksim and his men will kidnap her and use her to get him so they can kill him because nobody leaves the business. With the drama unfolding all around them will they make it out alive or die trying, now to find out you’ll have to get book it’s totally worth it.

Viktor has a past he isn't proud of. He use was a assassin and took peoples lives without thinking about it.
He lives in the mountains by himself and prefers it that way.
That is until he meets Angela and he starts to have feelings for her.
Viktor saved Angela when there was a mudslide but now Angela wants to just get home and be with her mother and back to her job.
There is man after viktor called Maskim who is from
viktor's past and Viktor wants to keep Angela safe from Maskim.

A amazing book about a man called Viktor who learns to change and let love back into his life and finally try and put his past behind him.
I love Angela she is so strong and stands up for what she believes in. She helps change Viktor for the better .

Will Angela stay with Viktor and tell him how she feels about him or will she go back to the city and her life there?

Angela is in the mountains investigating mud and rock slides for her boss. Viktor lives in a cabin on the mountain and he is out hunting when he sees Angela the first time. Just as he sees her a mud slide starts and he runs to save her. When Angela wakes she's in a strange place and not in her own clothes. Viktor is suspicious of her originally because of his past. He didn't know if she was sent to take him out but he soon learned that she was who she said she was. Things heat up between them and soon he doesn't want to let her go. When his past shows up on the mountain he worries about Angela. Will his past end things between them? Will she end up her because of what's happening?

This is an amazing story that will have you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Victor is living in America after escaping his life with the Russian Bratva. He is living secluded in the mountains. Imagine his surprise and suspicion when Angela appears on his mountain. She is beginning to think that her horrible boss is determined to make her crappy job even worse. Imagine her surprise and suspicion when she wakes up in a cabin with a sexy, Russian mountain man. Between the landslides and the bad guys, these two have a lot on their plate. They have to make it thru to get their happy ending. I enjoyed the characters and the writing in this book. It was full of suspense, drama, lust, danger and finally love. I always enjoy books by this author. This one did not disappoint

Viktor lived on a mountain far away from anyone. Mother nature had arrived in full force with a huge storm the rain was so heavy it had caused landslides roads had been washed away but Viktor was happy he had everything he needed and was about to head home when he spots a truck that shouldn't be there he moves to investigate and sees a woman panic sets in the mountain was giving way he had to get her to safety. Angela had been sent to the mountain to research for insurance purposes but had no idea about what was going to happen she had no idea about the man who saved her but she is soon going to find out that he isn't who she thinks he is. Highly recommend the ex mafia assassin the book is full of passion and so much more i really enjoyed it

Viktor is aggravated when he rescues Angela from the mudslide, carrying her unconscious body back to his cabin as he tries to figure out if his location has been compromised. Angela never wanted to be out in the forest, but after laying eyes on Viktor being stuck in his cabin doesn’t seem so bad. Viktor has his suspicions about Angela but even when they are bickering over Viktor’s refusal to answer her questions they can’t deny the growing heat between them and once they give into temptation, Viktor can’t keep his hands off her. The demons from Viktor’s past are closing in and when Angela gets captured, Viktor will do whatever it takes to save the woman he has fallen in love with, even if it means letting her go.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Viktor was a Russian Mafia assassin who chose to change his life and is hiding out in a cabin high in the mountains from Maksim, who wants to kill him. He rescues Angela after her truck is hit by a landslide and takes her to his cabin to take care of her. He can't let her go or contact anyone for fear of his past catching up with him and putting her in danger. They fall in love with each other, but he knows when she finds out about his past, she won't want anything to do with him. He's also afraid he won't be able to protect her if they come for him. I love the chemistry between Viktor and his kitten. If you love mountain men like I do, you'll absolutely love this book. I would like to know what Axel's story is too. Patsy Sacco
