Follow popular YouTubers Kaelin and Kyrah Edwards as they grow from young and in love, believing the hard part of life is over, to adulthood, filled with both challenges and opportunities.
Kaelin and Kyrah Edward's viral video of 2016 (Crazy Girlfriend Throws iPhone in the Pool!) thrust them into the spotlight with a velocity that they never could have imagined. Since that time, they have grown up in front of their audience—they have built their relationship, gotten married, grown their family through the births of their two little boys.
What began for them as the posting of a prank video has evolved into an engaged viewership of over 2 million on their various social channels that looks to them for guidance in how to make good life decisions. In This Kind of Love , Kaelin and Kyrah invite you to join their often tumultuous journey and experience—alongside of them—the joy and beauty that comes through waiting for God to do His work in our lives.
What great story. I couldn't stop reading it. Kaelin and Kyrah are a young couple that have become very well known because of YouTube and Social Media. This book chronicles how they met, and obstacles they overcame to become a couple. Included is Kaelin’s desire to date intentionally, that is, with the ultimate goal of being marriage, and to have a God honoring relationship. While they were in college, they began making prank videos. Eventually, they decided to completely change from doing pranks to having a media platform that followed their daily lives as a young Christian couple. Making the change was nerve-wracking as they hoped their followers would stay with them, become an-on-line family and all of them could "do life together." This book is very transparent as it tells the story of their lives, and the often-messy things going on in it. Kyrah tells of the problems with her mom, and difficulties she had when they first married. Kaelin shares unreal expectations he had for Kyrah, and his tendency to be a workaholic. They both testify to the way God not only helped them get through hard things, but their relationship got stronger because of it. By putting their trust in God, and with His help, they have a great relationship today. Even if you are not familiar with them, you will enjoy their life. A enjoyable book. A must read.
I’ve followed them from the beginning!!! Now I lean more into Kyrah’s book/hobby content but I truly loved reading their story and the lessons it brought along with it!!! Recommend every married or engaged couple to read.
Not being a YouTube watcher, I had no idea who this young couple was. Never having watched reality television, that people would reveal details of their lives online and that others would avidly watch is totally foreign to me. But in that world of living in public, Kaelin and Kyrah are popular.
They tell more of their story in this book. They write about meeting in the seventh grade, their on and off again friendship, struggling in faith, reconnecting and flirting via Twitter, dating, college struggles, marriage, starting a YouTube channel, having a child, marital troubles, growing in character.
Viewers of their YouTube channel will love the word for word conversations and the details of their thoughts and actions, even their marital spats, recorded in this book. The degree of sharing their personal lives is amazing. It is something this septuagenarian is not used to at all, being TMI. I did learn much about YouTube and making money from it, however. For young people who would find comfort and insight in reading about another person's personal experiences, this is a good book.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Let me preface this with saying that I DO watch Kaelin and Kyrah’s YouTube channel. I’ve always enjoyed the mature content more than anything else. I felt like this book was the perfect addition to that.
Sorry to disappoint but this is NOT a tell-all book. If you’re looking to get all the juicy details about the life of a YouTube couple, don’t read this. Rather, it’s an in-depth behind the scenes view to their life and videos we watched and loved.
Overall, I felt like they told their story in a way that was edifying and unique to them.
CON: I did read this and remember some of the videos they were talking about. Particularly how Kyrah told Kaelin she was pregnant with Kaiser. She said they she called him into the bathroom and told him, but they posted a video with something totally different. I’m not sure if they didn’t recall that or basically just did that for the video?
This is a very "now" story. YouTubers Kaelin and Kyrah were literally catapulted into a social media spotlight by, what began as a prank. From this point on the viewers began engaging them for counsel. This led to the adventure of their lives. Making good life decisions. Learning to live through the lens of God's promises and principles. Discovering the benefits of waiting for things such as learning God's plan for their lives and HIS TIMING. They trusted God to refine their characters and His support in times of trouble. Recommended reading for all those struggling and searching for God's good, acceptable, and perfect will in their life and those who must learn to trust God's timing not theirs.
In This Kind of Love, Kaelin and Kyrah Edwards have written a brand-new book about their love story and how they lived through some of God’s promises. They opened up about how they met first back in Junior High. They had two classes together the first day of school and then the second day they were separated because the classes were too full. They became texting buddies and they tried for more but at the time they decided to just stay friends. Kyrah wasn’t allowed to date until she was sixteen. She opened up about how her parents fought constantly and struggled in their marriage. She also discussed how her girlfriends at the time introduced her to church and the youth group. This was the first time she got to know God and His ways. Kaelin was a little different and he grew up in the church and his dad was a pastor. He discovered how he like to work the production side and with the sound system. He explained how he struggled with dating the Godly way and how he chose to date with the intention to marry. Kaelin revealed how a lot of her life at the time was spend on Twitter and how she had gotten her phone taken away by her father for a whole year. She still wasn’t allowed to date and, in the book, they go into detail about how that changed and how they eventually fell in love and got married. In the book, they also revealed how they created a YouTube channel, Kaelin and Kyrah and how they gained a lot of views from a popular prank video when Kaelin threw his phone into the pool. They opened up about marriage life and what it has taught them and how they are learning to navigate the adventure of parenting two small children.
I would recommend this awesome book to anyone who is looking for a new book that covered dating, marriage, parenting, and life in general. I liked how they shared both of their backgrounds and in the book, they switched and shared from both prospective. I immensely liked how open they were in sharing their struggles in their marriage and how they overcame and dealt with them. I also was surprised to see both of their decision on waiting until marriage to have sex. I liked the message they shared about waiting on God’s timing and waiting on God to reveal His plans for our lives.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Hachette Book Group/Faithwords for my honest review.”
“Anyone can love another on their best day. Real love comes out on our worst...My love for [my spouse] must be a crucifixion kind of love, the love that moved Jesus to stretch out his arms on the cross.” “He met me right there, that night, in the back seat of the car.” “I named my car Grace. Every day I climbed in it, I thought about the grace...showed me and the grace of God to provide favor in a situation where we deserved to suffer the consequences.”
The struggles with which we grapple are often connected to the secrets we guard. “Keeping track of wrongs suffered causes you to raise yourself above the other.” Speaking for your significant other robs them of their voice. While we hope they react in grace, they also deserve the grace to have a reaction. We must extend the grace we expect.
Making mistakes is part of the process, and when we shift the blame, we do those we love a disservice. “Any time I became upset, my mother always took my side. Nothing was ever my fault. If a teacher got onto me, my mom would call the school to confront them. If I had a problem with a friend on the playground, my mom would always blame the friend, not me.” But instead of empowering her daughter, this mother was cultivating a victimhood mentality.
“Jesus said that if your right eye causes you to stumble, you need to pluck it out because it’s better to go through life with one eye than to have your whole body plunged into hell (Matthew 5:29).” If we take this literally, we would have a lot of eunuchs walking this earth! He was telling us to think with your brain and not with your butt and remove from our lives whatever points us in the wrong direction.
This Kind of Love is the journey of YouTube influencers Kaelin & Kyrah Edwards. “We’d made the right move. We just had to get moving to get this new life started.” “The typical relationship…started with titles. I wanted to start with trust.” “I hadn’t surrendered my convictions. Instead, I’d learned...to compromise to do what is best for the other person.” It’s only in our Heavenly Father that our happily ever after is found.

Being very much on YouTube, I had a very strong idea of what this couple was about when reading this book. But the people who wrote this very detailed story revealed this of their personal life that would never be shared on the actual internet. They share more than just their story in the book, the situation and events, and also trials that they’ve went through. They talk about the struggles with being childhood friends to lovers, off and on relationships and friendships, struggles with themselves, trying to find their personality, trying to love themselves before loving anyone else. Reconnecting, going to college, struggling with situations that once again could not be shared on the internet.
This was more than just a book, this was something life changing. And as a 16 year old this autobiography taught lessons for myself, and taught me how to respect myself and in a way…and provided a guidance for red flags in relationships, a way to fall in love with the Lord again.
I’ve been the one to follow Kaelin and Kyrah throughout their Youtube journey, and like many other’s I joined the family when the pranks were happening and fell off when they decided to move their content in a more mature direction, but at the time I was younger and immature and I recently just found them again and started watching them and engaging again. 10/10 would recommend fi you love romance and would like hear about a inspiring, beautiful story of trials, love, hate, arguments, challenges and more that come with relationship and sort of something that maybe we all can relate to.
My favourite part of this book is how much it reveals to us how imperfectly human Kaelin and Kyrah are. It is evident, that God played a huge role in humbling their egos though their Christian Journey. If I have to nit-pick I would say that I already knew 50% of their story through their existing videos because I am a huge fan. That being said, the big reveals of the book seem as though they could have also been revealed through a story time video or a podcast video as well. I am grateful that they chose to share with us the dark parts of their journey through the medium of a book. This is the first written book, in years, that I've read through in less than 3 days. I look forward to listening to the audiobook as well. And Kudos, for not using this book as a platform to air out Kyrah's parents' dirty laundry. This book was executed with grace, and style. Congratulations to Kaelin and Kyrah on their success with this book. I pray that they continue to grow together by the grace of God.
This Kind of Love is a great memoir about young love, marriage, and faith. Youtubers Kaelin & Kyrah Edwards are honest about what their life is like and the ups and downs of life.
I recommend This Kind of Love to all age adults. I give This Kind of Love 5*/5*
God Bless and Thank You for reading.

I’ve followed Kaelin and Kyrah throughout the beginning of their YouTube journey as dating teens, up until now as married adults with two kids. Needless to say I was EXCITED when I found out this book was coming out. Nothing but good things to say about this book and the audiobook made this book even more exciting as the authors themselves read it to me. 10/10 would recommend if you love romance and would like to hear about a truly inspiring, beautiful love story of two people you can relate to. I loved it.
As someone who’s been a long-time viewer of their YouTube channel, this book was everything I’d hoped it to be. They became absolutely and completely vulnerable with us, telling us things that I couldn’t imagine telling my partner, let alone millions of viewers/readers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Might I add that while I am a huge book-worm, this is the first book I’ve read to completion since either 2018 or 2019 due to life, work, kids, you know-the usual excuses. What an awesome start to getting back into my love for books. 10/10 recommend.
Had no idea who this couple was before I started reading this. Never watched their YouTube videos so went in blind but I still found their story interesting.
Their journey was definitely tumultuous and I commend them for being so candid in the book. There were a lot of times where I thought to myself that they’re just two kids who got married WAY too young, without really knowing themselves or each other.
However, I do think there’s honor in the decision they made and it was nice to see them individually take accountability and ownership over their actions/shortcomings, while working through it.
I went back to see if I could watch one of their family vlogs but they have now been removed lol. Either way, glad to see they’re doing well and it’s a pleasant surprise to find Kyrah’s personal YouTube channel where she actually discusses books a lot. I’ll probably catch one of her videos once in a while to get some recommendations lol 😅
Wow. This book was so good. I’ve had it sitting on my shelf for a few months but decided I’d wait till I was on vacation to read it. And I’m glad I waited. I read it at the perfect time in my life. A time when I’m in a transitional period and found so much relatability in the pages of this book. I didn’t know what to expect but I’m glad I read it because it gave me detail on different things they’ve been through and showed us how they got to the beautiful point in their relationship that they are at now. 10/10 recommend. I’ll probably find myself coming back to the book to pick up some gems they dropped on the pages.
I picked up this book off bookoutlet out of curiosity. I had never heard of this couple and, after this book, I won't be watching their channel on Youtube either. I think I expected this book to be similar to Savannah and Cole LaBrant, which I also picked up out of curiosity and now follow on social media but they are not like Sav and Cole, in my opinion.
In the beginning, I was very interested in their story. I thought it was cute how they talked about "dating" as young kids and then separating, and coming back together in their high school years. I really liked Kyrah in this story. I felt like I could relate to her better than to Kaelin. I liked how she seemed to explore herself, and her interests. I liked how she was open about being in school but having no idea what she wanted to do when it came to college. I think a lot of kids are like that and it is important to make it known to young people that it is okay to be confused. It is okay to not know which college you want to go to, or what you want to study. Not everyone has it all worked out in their early teenage years, like Kaelin did.
My reasons for the three star rating has more to do with Kaelin. As the story went on, I just didn't like him or his side of things. I know there is come controversy around this couple, centered a lot on Kaelin himself, I believe. I do appreciate how honest he was here about everything in his marriage with Kyrah. He admits to wrongdoing when it comes to her pregnancy, their relationship, all of it. I appreciate that and I do appreciate the back and forth of this book so you got each side. I usually sided with Kyrah though, just saying. I found Kaelin quite overbearing, which is fine, but I was usually left feeling like Kyrah had little voice in the plans of this couple. When reading this book, I felt like I was reading Kaelin's life story and Kyrah was along for the ride.
Their dynamic obviously works and they are popular on Youtube because of it but it just wasn't for me. I did learn about how people make money off Youtube, which I did find very interesting, but that was really all I walked away from this book with. I am sorry to say, this book went right into the donation pile when I was finished.

This Kind of Love follows the Edwards' family's adventure as they learn to live through the lens of God's promises and principles, such as:Waiting to have sex until marriage out of obedience to God's plan for our lives.Waiting to take the time to lay a foundation for our future rather than rushing to get on with life.Waiting for God's plan for our lives to be revealed.Waiting for God's timing.Waiting for God to refine our character.Waiting for one another to become who we will be.Waiting for God to come through when trouble comes. In This Kind of Love. In This Kind of Love Kaelin and Kyrah invite the readers to join their often tumultuous journey and experience—alongside of them the joy and beauty that comes through waiting for God to do His work in our lives.
This book is in my top 3 forever. I follow Kaelin and Kyrah but reading their story from the beginning, and seeing their perspectives is inspiring. It was just so good that I couldn’t put it down. I loved reading about their own individual walks with God and how he has continued to work in their marriage as well. Such a great read!
I really enjoyed this book. As someone who recently married my long time partner, I resonated with Kaelin and Kyrah and the hardships they encountered. I think someone who does not know Kaelin and Kyrah or have watched their YouTube channel, you may not find as much interest. I liked how it switches between Kaelin and Kyrah perspectives throughout the book. It felt like I was listening to their podcast.
I may have enjoyed this book more if I was more familiar with these youtube stars, but I'm not a fan of the platform. Those that know and follow the couple on the videos will like this more than someone like me who never heard of them. The book tells about how they met in junior high and then later reconnected in high school, became married while working on youtube videos which made their income. The bible verses are pretty much far and between , but some readers enjoy that. For an in depth review, visit my page (and follow) at : https://lancewrites.wordpress.com/202...
As a fellow YouTuber, young wife, & mom.. I knew I wanted to support this couple. The book was good but I was expecting more details. For example, her moms situation considering that it was blasted all over the Internet. Now I’m not talking about in a messy way, I just wish she had discussed more about how it affected her personally, then her husband, etc. I was shocked to know that only one of their prank videos were not staged. Kind of made me view them differently but also think to myself, “That’s kind of clever.” because every prank I had ever seen of them seemed so real which is the point. I left the book with a little more knowledge on them & I felt somewhat motivated to plan more.

So, this is the first book of this genre that I've read in my adult life. I really only picked it up because I've watched the Edwards' youtube channels and listened to the podcast for some time now. Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. They are so vulnerable in areas that I don't think that I could ever share with anyone. I was especially touched by Kyrah's perspective on early marriage. In some chapters, I felt like she was telling my story as a new wife. It gave me peace to know that I'm not alone in experiencing these things. Really enjoyed this.
I really enjoyed this book! I originally got this book to support one of my favorite YouTube couples and didn’t think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. I am not a religious person so that’s the only reason why I gave it a four star rating. With that being said I don’t feel like they were shoving their religion down your throat, I liked how overall it was about their relationship and how they overcame obstacles.
i’ve been watching kaelin & kyrah for a while now & was pleasantly surprised with this book! I remember watching the videos & hearing about some of the situations they talk about in the book & to hear some of the “behind the scenes” was intriguing. love watching & following along with their growth even now! (also I think me & kyrah have very similar personalities bc I related with her a lot in the book lol)
Ive never watched the couple on youtube but, i did find their love life interesting. It started off with them so young and showed all of their struggles leading up to the ending point. Overall i think it was cute, not like insanely well written but not horrible, it just wasn’t intriguing enough for me.
So encouraging, honest, raw + transparent. I know how it feels to be a young Christian + married. You have people who judge you, thinks you’re crazy — but all you’re doing is obeying Christ.
For someone who didn’t know who these young authors were prior to reading their book, I have to say that their story of love is very inspiring. I love how transparent they were about their struggles with family and in marriage.
such a great book! if you’re and OG fan like I am then you’ll really enjoy this book! It talks about their life before doing youtube, they talk about their marriage, kids.
