I usually do not take the time to write a review. But I make an exception for when a book has impacted me so deeply that it brought me to tears (because I never cry).
And I am making an exception for this series.
Because I have never been so disappointed, annoyed and disgusted with a piece of “literature” (if we can even call it that) in my life.

I want to first state that my displeasure with this series has nothing to do with it being a dark romance or it being reverse harem. One of my favorite series is The Ravenhood which is also multiple partners. While knife and blood play are not my thing at all, that is not the issue.

My complaint is based on the fact that this was SO poorly written!!! There is absolutely no plot. No details. No secondary characters. No rhyme or reason to the characters motives or actions and I found it IMPOSSIBLE to connect with any of the 5 people featured in this book. And it was IMPOSSIBLE to understand their connection to each other. While the concept of 5 POVs seems like a dream because you can get into everyone’s head… it was executed so poorly and I felt like I was reading the same exact POV because their internal monologue across all 5 MCs were the same, just a different name slapped on it. They all describe the world the same way and they all use the same exact phrases when expressing themselves. Not to mention that each book is dedicated to one horseman and we probably spend more time in everyone else’s POV. Like it makes no sense to have it be West’ book but we keep spending time with Francis. This should have been written as a third person POV.

And what is more this could have been one long book AT MAX 2. Literally the first two books is just everyone saying the same thing over and over again while saying nothing at all. We have no idea what happened with Scarlett, or what she is doing for the horsemen, ( ask me what they do for work right now and I couldn’t tell you. It’s just “finance” and that’s funny because their “empire” was all part of their scheme to get her back but that is never explained. Like wth does finance have to do with your enemy. Make it make sense). We learned nothing of their history or why they are so attached to her, we don’t understand what their plan is for her. The entire first two books is us just standing around talking about amber eyes, indigo eyes, hazel-green eyes, having extreme, repetitive sex, and talking about how Scarlett had been taken away but she belong to them. She belong to them. She belong to them. She belong to them. She was taken away and she belonged to them….( has that sunk in yet for you or do you need me to tell it to you again?? You know what I’ll do what the author does and say it for the people in the back). SHE WAS TAKEN AWAY AND SHE BELONGED TO THEM.

The author has a unique way of using words over and over and over again like her vocabulary bank was limited and she had no idea how to create the scene. I have become utterly disgusted with words like “whilst” “lamb” “wisp” “ours” “yours” “mine” “I need you” because those seem to be the only words the characters know how to say. Overall it was poorly written. Here is a non-spoiler example of how the entire book is written : “She was still dressed in a sleep shirt and shorts, so hadn’t got ready for the day yet” ( me while reading oh wow being in her pjs meant she hadn’t gotten ready yet 🤯). Or there is this artistic sentence : “I don’t know what it was about her, or maybe I did” (profound).

And then there is the killings. If you’re gonna kill people and you are going to tell me they deserved it. Make me feel the hatred for them. Killing people Willy nilly for the most thinly veiled “offenses” and then just saying “they deserved it” is not enough, because I’m going to be honest. No one deserved any of the deaths handed out over the course of this series. Some of them were straight up ridiculous and laughable. One victims knew her death was coming and was stomping around like a 2year old having a tantrum saying she was inconvenienced by her impending death. HOW IS THAT AN EVEN REMOTELY REALISTIC RESPONSE????!!! America explain!!

Book three finally gives some answers and even those answers are just surface level. And book four was literally ridiculous. In the end. I sided with Stuart, who was the enemy of the entire series. Stuart deserved better. I don’t condone kidnapping or abuse ever but he was the only one with a motive behind his actions that I could kind of sort of understand.

So if you are into books with absolutely no conversation and no plot and a lot of repetition and sex scenes every 2 seconds ( too many slices) with amazing seduction scene consisting of “ I need you” “Don’t stop” “You’re mine” (I kid you not she says that for every guy every time)
Then I highly recommend this series

First I just want to say Chapters 11, 20, 29, 37-38, 43, and 45! 🥵🥵🥵 This entire book was basically a continuous wet dream.
BUT! The FEELS! The gut wrenching moments! The declarations!! They were just EVERYTHING! 🥺🥺🥺
And so many questions answered!! Questions we’ve all had since Carnage!
I just can’t with this book. It is everything! It’s, chefs kiss! 🤌🏻
If stupid adulting hadn’t gotten in the way I would have finished it in a day!
Sarah, thank you so much again for giving me the opportunity to be an arc reader for these books. I love them! You have absolutely knocked it way out of the park with this book!
Now excuse me while I go back to read the chapters mentioned above again.

Oh lord this series!

We start up right where we left off in book two. And we finally get some answers! We find out about Scar's accident and what happened when she got separated from the boys. I will admit I thought would be a little more crazy, but definitely something realistic that could happen.

Scar is slowly chipping away at the hardened exterior of West and Drake, which is really incredible to see. All the guys were impacted so differently when Scarlett was taken from them but West and Drake have definitely been the hardest for her to re-connect with. And it was really special to see her have her moments with them in this book.

That's not to say she doesn't have great moments with the other guys, cause she 100 percent does. And the moments can be pretty damn spicy. I've said it in every review of this series and I'll say it again the level of spice is top tier. And not only that the way kink is portrayed is really incredible and so well done. So I applaud Sarah for that.

I'm not sure how Sarah is gonna wrap everything up in the final book, but all I can say is I can't wait to see how it all unfolds so Scarlett and the guys can have the HEA they deserve!

First, I would like to thank Sarah for allowing me to be an arc reader ... Although, I'm not sure if she'll allow me to do so again after this whole process is done with because of some slight attitude she may have caught from me (after a few cliffhangers). 😬😇 Second ... I cannot even begin to tell you how absolutely soul satisfying this book is. I'm a naturally nosey/curious so all the questions from the first 2 books were KILLING ME. We FINALLY got some answers! The information gathering was almost as satisfying as the sex scenes ... Almost, but not quite lol. Sarah is in my list of top sex scene writers. She definitely lives up to her name of the Queen of Steam! 🥵😍🤤🔥 Third, the relationships evolve so much in this book and it will make your heart so happy ... Right before Sarah rips it out with her cliffhanger and gives you heart failure lol. I am so excited for the fantastic ending I know she has planned for this epic series. Sarah never fails to make me feel like I'm living through these characters and that they are real people. I don't ever feel like I'm just reading a book. Her writing is some of the best and she is definitely one of my favorite new authors (new to me) of the year!

You guys know this series is becoming one of my favorites and it just keeps getting better.

Answers, y’all! Communication!!! It’s finally happening and I’m dying. Not all the answers, of course, but a lot of them and I’m pleased. And Sarah did such a good job of building everything up in this series that every little piece we get feels like we worked for it!

I always knew Scarlett was a bad bitch and getting to see how well she truly compliments the guys was the highlight of this book for me. They all just fit together so perfectly and it’s just all coming together!

West is and will likely forever be my favorite horsemen but I love all of the guys. The further we get in the series the more vulnerability we get from them and it is so good.

And y’all know Sarah doesn’t mess around with the spice in this series. It’s some of the hottest I’ve ever read, you guys. She’s not afraid to go there and it’s everything 🥵🥵🥵

Beware, it ends in a cliffhanger but the next book is the last and I’m not sure I’m ready for it to be over 🥲

No plot, only porn.

Where book 1 left you wanting a better look into the minds of our character, and book two filled those gaps, books three consisted of pure sex.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good amount of smut and dark romance but there was barely any storyline in this book besides sex scenes. Every single chapter had something in it, and it made it anticlimactic. I was left wanting to know more about the storyline that was supposed to be important, and instead found myself skipping through page after page of repudiative sex scenes.

If you’re looking for a book that’s pure porn, page after page with no break and no build up, this is for you.

If you want a really good story line that builds up the sex and tells a story, this is not for you.

Note: The sex scenes are very well written when it comes to the type of sex and how each character has different kinks.

Okay, this book is now one of my absolute favourites for all things spice and romance. Who doesn't love a possessive but only is soft for her kind of characters? Because that's exactly what you get with the Horsemen. This tale is such a perfect representation of the Four Horsemen, I couldn't put it down. I would never chose between the four men, but Drake was probably my absolute favourite character. There's just something so romantic and dark about him. Scarlett was also an amazing character with so many complexities that you can't help but fall in love with her and the boys. If you haven't, get your hands on a copy asap!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Corrode answered so many questions from the first two books, and it kept me intrigued the whole way through! Scarlett really grows in this book and the men’s character development is amazing 💜
This series is about Scarlett being sent in by her stepfather to get revenge on the four horsemen, but she doesn’t count on the men intriguing her and giving her everything she needs.
There’s many twists and turns in this series and I will always recommend it!
Sarah has such a way with writing, she pulls you in a keeps you intrigued! She’s a new top author for me!

Please read TW

I absolutely loved this book not just because of the amazing smut, but also because of the many emotions that I felt throughout the book. I loved all the relationships that the FMC had with the MMCs but I can’t help but have a soft spot for Drake even though he is rough, mean, and completely closed off. He finally had more moments with Scarlett in this book I was so happy. Even though the book ended on a cliffhanger but I am used to it by now

In Corrode, Scarlett slowly starts putting the pieces of her past together her lost memories, the pain that made her who she is, and how it ties to the Horsemen. She’s back living with West, Prescott, Francis, and Drake, and it’s not just about the heat between them anymore. There’s danger in the air, secrets everywhere, and nothing feels safe or simple.

Running to the next book.

Thank for an ARC copy for review, Sarah!

I didn't think it was possible but the books just get spicier and spicier as it goes along.

I am still very much in love with Francis. I really enjoyed how the relationships developed and we are finally getting some answers. I loved the relationships between Scarlet and the four horsemen and how we are getting some background on their pasts etc. Everything is starting to come together and things are falling in to place.

As always, it has been left on a cliffhanger and I'm excited to see what happens next.

Sarah picked up straight from Chaos leaving me shocked by West's actions - nothing new there.
So many secrets revealed and things make more sense now.
Scarlett's character development is brilliant she's becoming so independent now and ballsy yet still needing her horsemen, each bring their individual personality to the story and their own ways with Scarlett.
The numerous amounts of Spice scenes too, will leave you panting and satisfied.
However, Sarah left with us banger of a cliffhanger.
Cataclysm cant come soon enough.

Ok somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought each book in this series is dedicated to each of the four horsemen? I thought this one was going to have a little bit more focus on Francis and Scarlet’s relationship, but he was barely in this except for the last 10%. It was mostly West, Drake and Scarlet, while Francis and Prescot just kinda hangs around in the background.

Alas, we get some answers with this book!
Now the story makes more sense, we know what happened (for the most part), we know Mason is a dick and finally...fucking finally everyone seems determined to accept their feelings for Scarlett...well the last two guys that is, West and Drake. And Scarlett herself started accepting the darkness and deviancy inside her.

Holy facking shit balls. WRECKED doesn’t even begin to describe how I am feeling after finishing this book. Emotionally distraught? Low key sadist? A deviant? I’m not sure, but maybe all the things.

We finally get to know the answers to the lingering questions from the previous two books. I wasn’t expecting the answers that were given, but it makes so much sense as to why the horsemen are the way they are.

Intense, from the start to the ending. By 25% I was legitimately wondering if I could finish because of the intensity - but it was a delicious ass spanking. Scarlett became the regal Queen she was meant to be.

The steam level is a 762/10 - it meets all the needs one could want in a devious reverse harem. If you trigger easily, DO NOT READ. If you’re a sexually depraved feen, then do read, repeatedly.

Book 3, Sarah Bailey bared it all, held nothing back & left a piece of herself within this story. IMO, her best book to date. *insert standing ovation*

Just going to start this with:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Honestly, I’m an emotional mess in the best and worst way. We got so many needed questions answered, but in true Sarah Bailey fashion, she’s left us on a hell of a cliff hanger. It’s only going to make book four that much more incredible, and luckily that release is shortly after this one! Corrode is out 10/8! Don’t forget to preorder! You will not regret it.

There was so much character development and I unexpectedly fell so hard for Drake. Ugh, him trying to open up after being broken for so long, my heart couldn’t take it. 💔

Our crazy man, West, he’s clearly got some shit to still work out with little Scar, but he’s making progress and him whispering to her while she sleeps on his lap, ugh. These tender moments were shattering me! 🥺

Pres, my hunter. He’s always sweet and attentive, but ya’ll when I tell you I’ve been waiting on chapter 19 in this book, it’s so fucking perfect. He’s the perfect sweet and spicy combo! 😈

Frankie, my heart was not ready. He grew so much in this book, confronted so much from his past. Seeing his relationship with Scar become deeper and more honest, I had to stop myself from reading this whole book too quickly so I could savor these moments! Also chapter 43 with him, brace yourselves. 🥵

Scar faced so much in this book and still has so much left to face. Watching her come back to herself and gain that confidence back to not be used by anyone and be her own person. We love a bad ass MC and she’s fighting through that trauma to be just that! 💪

This got boring after a point - even the smut. Scarlett was kinda annoying in this book with the whole "I'm mad at you" and then hugging them and kissing the guys and telling that she hadn't yet forgiven them. I was like GIRL MAKE UP YOUR MIND???🤚🏻 Also, she was constantly crying in every other chapter. The spicy scenes were repetitive and the whole amnesia thing didn't make sense. You're tryna tell me that she got 10 years worth of her memories back in 2 days??? TF??? Anyways, my head hurts but I'm committed to re-reading the last book eventhough it's the worst in this entire series. The first two were much better. Honorable mention to the primal play scene tho because it helped me realise that I love it lolz.

Corrode, by Sarah Bailey is the third book in the four novel series known as Four Horsemen. Four ruthless men and the equally ruthless woman that are engrained into their souls. There’s still so much to do before this menagerie could find anything close to anything resembling peace. We start off with a bang, as a very emotional and well written flashback of Scarlett’s accident that paints a horrible yet important picture of what brought the characters to their current day brokenness. To put it simply, the overall story has found its groove. We’re not nearly exposed as much to the inner monologues of annoyingly boastful murder boys. Now that the reader is expected to fully understand where everyone stands, and the intricacies of what happened in those 10 years lost to Scarlett can finally be explored and examined. It’s still annoying as fuck that these men go through life with an arrogance that they can control who lives and dies simply at their direction, but there’s more grounds for understanding this mindset. We get a great look at how some people cope with unspeakable trauma, notably the “broken” characteristics that make up the Horsemen. This reader will never have sympathy for them, but I’ll restate the opportunity for understanding comes through the text in a brilliant way. That doesn’t make me any more comfortable with their antics of course…

There’s a scene about a quarter of the way in that feeds a blood lust that I wasn’t expecting at the time. After a brief (yet plot important) altercation, a graphic and gruesome torture-murder of a known character takes place, who at the time I couldn’t understand the need for such brutality in this way. For me, and perhaps me alone, this was not a satisfying kill of an inhuman monster character that deserved it multifold. The process and sexual gratification were understood for the characters doing the deed, but not for the victim, as an unlikable character was savagely tortured more so to prove a point than correct an injustice. There was a lot of care and effort put into this particular torture scene, brief as it may have been in page length. To be honest I came a gnat’s eyelash from a DNF for the novel, for just the briefest of a moment. This is an unfortunate realization for me as a nontarget demographic reader, but the emotion I feel even now thinking about it for the review, says a lot for the quality of writing. There’s still several characters left that will surely meet a worse end, and to those who seek to sate this example of the macabre, it’s right in their wheelhouse, and is a brilliant example of that fantasy.

Fantasy, mind you, is the name of the game once most of the cards are on the table, and the characters get to engage in their various sexual gambits with impunity. Some great examples of kinks used to cope, comfort or just vent frustration with the world are examined in more detail than in previous novels in the series. All 5 main characters are on edge (and with good reason), so we as the readers get to revel in physical and emotional gratification that they use to get them to the next proverbial chapter of their prolonged misery. Scarlet of course, is the straw that stirs the drink and it’s a satisfying lens with which to view these expressions. After all, misery loves company, and to the horseman and their lady there’s no better place to be than with each other.

Verdict: Corrode by Sarah Bailey is an all-important setup novel that creates tension, satisfies desires, and prepares the reader for the wild conclusion that’s sure to follow in the fourth installment. The moments of violence in book three are chilling but with this series there is a notion that it’s only going to get more intense, and that’s just as unnerving. Until we get a series ending, we as the reader should expect a crescendo of this very important element. It’s not predictable in a nuts and bolts sense, and the writing is still top notch at these important moments. But how could we expect the higher up antagonists to meet any other fate? The “you ain’t seen nothing yet” style implied is undoubtedly exciting, especially as the red hot sex scenes couple in intensity right alongside, but it comes at a cost to readers venturing outside of their comfort zone. To be blunt, if graphic depictions of murder are going to be a deal breaker, this is not a story for you, as in this instance we are shown rather than told, and the victims themselves are dubious in their deserving of such a fate…at least to this reviewer. All of this conflict gives me a great opportunity as a reader however, something I’ve never before experienced. I fully, 100% truly, from the bottom of my heart do not care about the “happiness” (for lack of a better word) of these main characters, and a part of me wants them to suffer as much as possible before the promised HEA. That said, the brilliant writing that’s caused this emotion can be appreciated on a new level, allowing me to explore more of the human experience that’s being portrayed, rather than worrying about the details the character’s day-to-day emotions. It’s a new challenge, but there’s no one I’d trust more for such a venture than this author.

Special thanks to Sarah Bailey for providing an advance review copy of Corrode to TehBen.com. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

These men…. Lord, there’s no words to describe how HARD these guys came for my soul in this book. We pick up Corrode right where Chaos ended, with West basically taking a sledgehammer to Scarlett’s mind. This book starts off emotionally heavy and then takes you on a literal rollercoaster from there on out.

YOU WILL FINALLY GET ANSWERS!! I’m not telling you what those answers are, because… spoilers… but you will definitely leave this book with so much more of a grasp on what is really going on.

I adore that Sarah’s books revolve around the character’s development and that’s what drives the stories. This series and this book are no exception to that. There’s a lot of character growth in this one, which brings a lot of feelings to the surface. Backstories definitely help fill in some gaps and it’s really nice to hear more about the guys families and how those dynamics all work (or don’t in some cases).

Spice… good gracious the spice… If there’s one thing I can say about this entire series is that it has not lacked spice by any means. We definitely get even more in this book if that’s possible. You’ll finally get some scenes that have been hinted at in previous books, and IT IS EVERYTHING YOU WANTED… and then some!

There are also so many moments of levity throughout this book as well, which I loved. There was more than once where I found myself cackling like a banshee seeing these brutal men being put in their place. You’ll know what I mean when you read it!

Overall, this is a series that I will always recommend. These men are brutal, sometimes psycho, and utterly broken; but their strengths and weaknesses are absolutely beautiful to see printed on paper. I will always believe that Scarlett is the luckiest (fictional) girl ever!
