When the Moorecliff clan gathers at Moorecliff mansion for Archie’s memorial service, no one expects gossipy aunt Shirley to end up stabbed in the solarium. It’s not really a big surprise though, pretty much everyone in the family had reason to want her dead.
With those closest to her at the top of the suspect list, Araminta and her mystery solving cats Arun and Sasha vow to find the answers to the questions that could lead them straight to the killer. How did mice get into the mansion? Where did the killer stash the murder weapon? What secret did Shirley know that someone would kill for? What is going on in the gardening shed at night?
As Araminta and the cats get closer to the answer, Araminta discovers that even those she calls her closest family have been harboring secrets of their own.
P.S. Will Araminta make peace with Jacob and as for his help with the case? What is going on between Stephanie and Ivan?

Cousin Shirley is at Moorecliff Manor with the rest of the family for a memorial for Archie, who was recently murdered. When she turns up dead in the solarium, Araminta and her cats work to solve the murder before the police blame it on the wrong family member. Of course, the cats point Araminta to most clues, but it's up to Araminta to sort them out. There are lots of twists and turns in this one, making for a fun and entertaining read. I really enjoyed Stabbed in the Solarium, getting to know more about the characters, and looking forward to book 3 in the series!
Stabbed in the Solarium is Book 2 in the Moorecliff Manor Cat Series. I absolutely adored this book.
There is another murder , in the solarium, as the title indicates and there is no shortage of suspects.
Araminta is a fantastic main character. She is an octogerian that does not age stop her and along with her mystery solving cats Arun and Sasha she's determined to find the killer.
The characters are well developed and fleshed out. The mystery is really great I had no idea who the killer was until the final reveal.
This is a fantastic series and I cannot wait for the next book .
Daisy Moorecliff. Archie's widow, has planned a memorial celebration for Archie with the Moorecliff clan attending. She has ordered food to be placed in the Solarium so everyone can see the Memorial Garden that Yancy, the gardener, and Stephanie, Archie's daughter, have worked so hard on. It is not a big surprise when nosy, gossipy, Aunt Shirley, is found dead in the solarium before the celebration even starts. The suspects are many. The murder weapon cannot be found. Some f the family do not have a good alibi. Aunt Araminta Moorecliff along with her Siamese cats, Arun and Sasha, vows to find the right killer and the weapon before someone innocent is charged with the murder. In book two of the Moorecliff Manor Cozy Mystery series, we meet new characters and see the ones from book one develop. Leighann Dobbs has done an excellent job with the twists and turns in this book. She makes you wonder what is going on with Stephanie and Detective Ivan Hershey. Is Araminta apologizing to Ivan's Grandpa, Jacob Hershey, a retired detective, by calling him and asking for his advice on the case. Araminta soon discovers that all of her relatives are not exactly as they seem. This is a great cozy mystery that you will not want to put down until the case is solvedl I cannot wait for book three. I received an advance copy of this book. I also preordered a copy. This is my honest review.
Another winner!! I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. Fun, quirky, and lovable characters. A great story with lots of twists and turns. Although each book is a stand alone, they are better if read in order. I can't wait to see what Minta and her cats get involved in next. Murder and mayhem seem to be the norm at Moorecliff Manor.
2nd in the series, a purrfect combo of a senior sleuth, 2 cat sleuths, lots of twists, a couple red herrings as well. I find the characters well developed, and the story line is as well... Can't wait for book 3!
I love this new series! This is the second book and was wonderful. I love the idea of the cat detectives! This book is shorter than the ones that Ms. Dobbs usually writes. It was an easy read and had a surprise ending! Can’t wait for the next one!
Another fun story from Leighann Dobbs. She does like her cat detectives. This time they're helping solve another murder at the Manor while making sure the wrong person is not implicated.
This book starts off right where Dead in the Dining Room left off. The Moorecliff family has just buried Archie and all the extended family is in town for a memorial service, when the family gossip, Aunt Shirley, is found stabbed to death in the solarium. Can this family just learn to get along?
Because Aunt Shirley wasn't liked by hardly anyone in the family, there are numerous suspects as to the guilty party is. She was known to have dirt on many of the family members and used it to her advantage so Araminta has a tough job ahead, if she wants to make sure the wrong person isn't accused of the crime. Thankfully her two siamese cats, Arun and Sasha, are there to help sniff out the clues and point her in the right direction.
This is another nice little cozy mystery you read in just a couple of hours. I don't think I'd want to visit Moorecliff Manor if people continue to be killed there, lol. I really like Araminta's tenacity and her great memory. As a cat lover, I love Arun and Sasha. I liked how Araminta swallowed her pride and asked Jacob for help. Maybe these two will be friends soon. I was totally surprised when the killer was revealed because I had discounted them. Also, there's a hint of a mystery as Archie's widow, Daisy, continues to receive flowers and no one knows who's sending them. Hmmm
When the Moorecliff family comes together for a memorial to the late Archie Moorecliff, trouble also attends the gathering. When Shirley fails to appear for breakfast, the rumors start to fly as to where she is. Shirley has a reputation for making people pay her to protect their secrets and is known to be a heavy drinker.
After breakfast, the group headed out to the gardens, when Araminta noticed the cats, Arun and Sasha, over by the solarium. Upon entering, Araminta immediately saw the problem - Shirley would be unable to attend the memorial for Archie, since she was dead! This is the second murder at Moorecliff Manor in a rather short period of time.
Who killed Shirley? Why was she killed? Can Araminta and her cats solve the mystery?
Leighann Dobbs has another winner and I love how the cats point out the clues. The characters and situations are very realistic and there are plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing clear to the end.
Stabbed in the Solarium (Moorecliff Manor Cat #2) — Leighann Dobbs/Narrator: Hollis McCarthy (20 chapters) June 11, 2023
I may have to go back and read the first book in this series. When I picked this audiobook up it read differently than the first book, and now I am wondering if my memories of the first book is accurate.
These stories follow the semi-serious cozy mysteries of the Moorecliff clan, with Araminta Moorecliff, the matriarch, and her cats, who are the real mystery solvers, as the head protagonist.
In this story, as the clan gathers for Archie’s funeral, a gossipy relative, Shirley, who likes to blackmail other relatives for keeping their secrets, dies. Who dunnit this time?
Awesome narrator; quick listen; quirky plot by one of my all-time favorite authors.
And…. CATS! Cats with solving crimes! Cats were conversing with each other. And did I mention…. CATS?
Araminta needs to solve the murder of Aunt Shirley which occurred when the Moorecliff clan gathered at the Mooreciff mansion for Archie's memorial service. The service never happened and the catered buffet was in the solarium with Shjirleuy's body, behind crime scene tape!
Araminta had those closest to Shirley at the top of her suspect list. Many in the family had good reasons to eliminate her and the secrets she usually didn't keep secret. The mystery-solving cats were good at finding clues and sharing them with Araminta.
Araminta and the cats get closer to the answer, discovering secrets belonging to even her closest family members.
Great characters (especially the cats!) and a good plot. Excellent mystery that was well hidden until the end.
Good British murder mystery at Moorecliff Mansion where family members are attending a memorial service or Archie. The gossipy aunt Shirley is stabbed in the solarium. No one in the family really liked her so there are a lot of suspects. Aramintha and her cats, Arun and Sasha start finding answers to the killer but there are still a lot of people that could have done it. There are a lot of family secrets to get answers to and it's not easy.
I really enjoyed reading this book! The main character is a bit quirky & her two cats help her solve the mystery. You actually get to hear the cats thoughts which is different but fun! The storyline is interesting & keeps you guessing until the end. I am looking forward to the next book!
I really enjoy Lee's books because she uses cats to help solve murders! This was no exception...Aru & Sasha, Araminta's Siamese cats, once again help her solve a mystery. This time it was the murder of cousin Shirley!! They also discovered some more of the family's secrets.
Another murder solved with the help of two extraordinary cats!!
This book continued on with the Moorecliff family and another murder! I enjoyed this book more than the others because I already knew the characters and so far the original family have stayed alive. The ending was a surprise, but I won't spoil it. I will definitely be buying the next book.q q
This book picks up a few weeks after the first book. We get introduced to the extended Moorecliff family (they put the fun in dysfunctional!), and family secrets are brought to light, old passion s are rekindled, the body count rises. Enjoy!
Fantastic series! Love the characters and especially the cats! They add a special intrigue to the story line. This is definitely a series I will continue to keep up with. This author is definitely one of my favorites!!!!!
The author is awesome I haven't read books like these that has caught me up in them reading this book in two days. Never wanted to have to put it down. Leigh an Dobbs you are a great author.
The entire family is invited to the memorial. There are some wonderfully crazy, rich and eccentric Family members. The old and the young mixture makes the mystery fun to read.
This was a quick read and a very enjoyable one. Nice set up for the story. The characters were all well fleshed out, and the place descriptions were all very well done. I really enjoy these stories! Can't wait to read the next!
Enjoyable mystery, don't invite the Moorecliff clan over, there's a murderer in every bunch. But the cats are waiting to catch the killer in the act. Looking forward to the next book. Excellent added audible narration.
I loved this book! Being a cat person, I find Arun and Sasha hilarious. I am looking forward to March 11th when I can see who gets murdered in the Hydrangeas.
