Traci Douglass’s Her One-Night Secret is a one-night stand, secret baby, second chance romance. The story is the second book in Traci’s First Response in Florida duet but is a standalone read. In fact, the stories take place simultaneously.
Luis Durand and Stacy Williams initially met five years ago at Durand’s Duck Bill Pond, the bar owned by Luis’s parents. Luis was celebrating his going away party for his umpteenth mission with Docs on Duty, and Stacy was hanging out with friends. The two shared a drunken escapade on the beach. The next day, Luis went to Myanmar and Stacy returned home to Miami, later to discover she was pregnant with Luis’s child. Too caught up in trying to better her life in preparation for taking care of her baby, Stacy didn’t try to contact Luis. For his part, Luis went on with his life, but never forgot about her.
It’s been five years, but the two immediately recognize each other. Luis is now head of the emergency department at Key West General. Stacy is now a fire captain for the Key West Fire Department. The two are brought together by an injured firefighter and as members of the local emergency response team. As members of the team, they are tasked with making sure their part of the Keys is prepared for the approaching hurricane. Meaning they have to work together.
Luis has the best reaction to discovering he’s a father and wants to not only have a relationship with Miguel but Stacy as well. Unfortunately, Stacy and Luis are dealing with the ghosts of their past that stand in the way of their future.
I loved Luis and Stacy from the start. It’s hard to explain, but there’s something innately good about both of them. They mesh together really well and you don’t question how they feel for each other. You just root for them to be together. Their four-year-old son, Miguel, pretty much steals every scene he’s in. At some point, he brought tears to my eyes with his childhood innocence.
Her One-Night Secret brings back Jackson and Lucy who fell for each other in The Vet’s Unexpected Hero. Their story continues and gives readers a truly satisfying ending to their story. I loved Her One-Night Secret because of the way Stacy and Luis handled themselves. I found their emotions to be real and genuine. I loved that they had their families to have their backs and guide them in the right direction.

Traci knows how to write a sweet romance that will keep you interested in what will happen next. Her One-Night Secret is about Luis and Stacy who had a night of passion on a beach while visiting from Miami knowing that it was going to be only one night. He was heading out of the country the next day on a mission trip to meet up other doctors. Now almost five years later she's a firefighter a captain, living in Key West and single mother of a four year old boy when she sees Luis in the ER. Each recognize each other yet don't acknowledge it at first. She is nervous about telling him about their child and how he will react. Can they rekindle their chemistry into a relationship? How will their child react to learning about his dad? Don't miss out on this sweet, funny, emotional, passionate and even healing romantic story. I received an ARC from the author for my honest review.
In a strange turn of events a doctor comes to run the ER in Key West not knowing the woman he was involved with in one spectacular night is a fireman in the same town and she has a son by him he knows nothing about. They run into each other after she is there firstly for her boss, the Fire Chief, and secondly for a meeting about a hurricane approaching the town. Surprised the doctor wants to know the woman who haunts his dreams better. She needs to let him know he has a son. Now throw in a strong hurricane and life becomes more interesting. I enjoyed their reactions to each other. Their coming together. And the doctor's getting to know his son. The author's description of the hurricane affect on the town is quite interesting and well described. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Her One-Night Secret by Traci Douglass is Book two in the First Response in Florida Medical Romance duo!
The story is about Luis and Stacy, who are fantastic characters who had one fantastic night together. By chance they run into each other 5 years later, little does Luis know that Stacy has some secrets she hasn't shared with Luis. This was a fantastic medical romance that I absolutely loved.
This is book two in the First Response in Florida duet.
A one night stand secret comes back to play havoc once again.
A promotion will have her facing her past. Moving back to Key West to give her son security will have her facing feelings for her son’s dad. Both ends up working on the hurricane team ignite their chemistry and her eventually telling him about a son he did not know about.
A charming first response story with a secret child involved.
HER ONE NIGHT SECRET is part of Traci Douglass’ “First Response in Florida” duet set in Key West. Stacy and Luis was reunited on a hurricane response team meeting, the first time they met again after sharing a night of passion years ago.
Like the other book in the duet, HER ONE NIGHT SECRET also told in alternate third person POV between Fire Captain Stacy Williams and Doctor Luis Durand. Somehow the dynamics between this pair worked way better (than Lucy and Jackson’s) for me. It helped that they had tangible connection that nudged the closeness between them gradually.
Overall it was a familiar and conventional plot. But the chemistry between the pertinent nuclear group was engaging enough for me to follow the story until the finish line - predictable potential disaster notwithstanding.
