Why, Hayley, why! I thought that this was gonna be the final book, I thought I was ready for this book. I.Was.Not. Ready. Kingdom of Tomorrow's Truth is a fantastic surprise, if not heartbreaking as well, I loved it.
Bria has come a long way since she first entered faery. She now knows her heritage, she is growing stronger, and more confident day by day. No longer is she shying away from problems but she is meeting them straight on with a brave face, a kind heart, and a strong soul. Bria has such a unique point of view, being a fae raised as a human. Bria is kinder than the fae in most ways but she also the backbone to do what she had to, to keep everyone safe. She treats everyone fairly with kindness and respect in a world where the fae aren't used to such things. Bria does what she believes in and tries with all her spunk and might. She's even leading the way in this book, coming up with different plans to save faery, implementing those plans, and working side-by-side with Fergus. Her main fault now is that she tends to still get in her head a lot and she doesn't communicate well with Fergus when it comes to matters of the heart.
Fergus is a good prince through and through, he is kind but still makes the hard decisions, he is charismatic, tries to be diplomatic, works with Bria as an equal, and comes up with plans while considering the consequences for everyone. He listens to Bria, lets her take the lead, and follows without complaint or doubt. With Bria, Fergus is understanding, kind, sweet, playful... overall lighter. Bria and Fergus are great together and the bond is more proof of that than the reason. However, Bria and Fergus are a mess. Their relationship is the definition of angst that is riddled with bad communication and misunderstanding and it's killing me. Just when I thought that thing may work out, boom goes the dynamite. Hayley has a lot of explaining to do and I am praying for a happily ever after, after all this is a faery tale.
This book surprised the heck out of me, not only are the characters growing, with Bria taking charge, Fergus easily following, the surprising relationship developments between Willow and Jax. Both of them are going through their own thing and it's making them think things through. Rhiannon is revealed to be even crazier and more violent than I believed, the people of faery are more desperate now than ever, especially since Rhiannon has a lot more tricks up her sleeve than to be believed. Then there were the few shocking plot twists that totally threw me, I was not expecting them and now I am dying for more. My favorite part was the politics in this one. Through the politics, I am starting to understand these faeries better, how their world works, and what dangers they face. The fae has always been politics-centered because of the ruling structure but things vary from series to series and seeing the political structure helps me see the story better.
I love the Royals of Faery series and Kingdom of Tomorrow's Truth did not disappoint, it's full of romance, angst, magic, betrayal, secrets, fae behaving badly, treacherous politics, and battle strategy, while I'm gonna miss the series I am dying to know who the series is going to end. The story wraps up in the fourth final book of the Royals of Faery series with Kingdom of Future's Hope and I am hoping to get the happy ending that I know Bria and Fergus deserve, either way, I am here for it.
