The people in this time of history were unforgiving , warlike, and rather bloodthirsty💪🔪, which should be reflected in this type of book. Many authors try to give modern values to peoples in ancient history, and it's a false narrative that actually detracts from the quality of the book.

Highlander's Royal Blood takes off from were Highlander's Unchained Heart ends and will hold you spellbound as it comes to life with all the treachery, intrigue, evildoing and action from the moment you begin the journey with Katherine and Cameron until the very end! The plot brims with tension-building twist, characters are well thought out and pull you into their tale and individual personalities become more than just part of the tale, remarkable emotions and with one fantastic plot! Magical and mysterious Scottish Highlands paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story which brings this read together perfectly. Katherine, a stubborn, stongwilled lass, has been learning how to lead her clan for the past three years and as she steps up to become Laird attempts one her life start to happen. Cameron, a brawny warrior, has felt a nothing but exasperated with Katherine since meeting her so he thought. As Katherine and Cameron's will clash, sparks fly as Cameron tries to keep Katherine safe from those who plot against her. Ann Marie Scott spins a heart-stopping love story that unfolds beautifully with drama, sizzling passion, uncertainties, secrets, danger, deception and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with the chaos abound that makes this one outstanding story!

Heavy on the accents, light on the spice
I have mixed feelings about this book as it honestly feels like it was written by 2 different people. The beginning of the story is wonderful. We have two characters who are obviously attracted to each other but neither willing to make a move. But after Katherine is inducted as the leader, the story goes down hill quickly. The H and h are hot and cold and none of it makes sense. It felt as though the author was trying to fit all of her fantasy tropes into one story. We have enemies to lovers, protector to lovers, fake engagement, emotional trauma, rise to power, etc. Way too much going on.
My biggest complaint is that while the author was rich in detail in everything from their Scottish accents to the politics in this story, she obviously ran out of steam when it came time to add the spice. The intimate scenes almost seemed added as an after thought. This was especially frustrating considering the initial slow burn of the relationship. Ultimately the build up never crescendoed with a hot and heavy coming together of the H and h. Most of their sexy encounters were implied or skipped all together. Which overall made the story kind of meh. 🤷♀️

It’s hard for me to rate romance novels when I compare them to other genres of books, so I rate them AS romance novels :) This was a nice quick read (It took a little over 2 hours), and that was nice because I read this as I was waiting my turn for a book from the online library :) BUT it felt rushed / like there was a lot left out… their falling in love felt a bit rushed. Also, it kept referring to something that happened to Katherine’s cousin in the past and it very much felt like I was missing something… like I didn’t read the first book of a series; however, this isn’t labeled as part of a series. Confusing.

I find myself enjoying Ann Marie Scott's books at a time when I'm struggling. She breathes life into her characters that makes them real. Meeting Katherine McDougal & Cameron during a tough time was interesting. Katherine had been thru alot but had come out the other end stronger. There was action, mystery and suspense in this story. The mystery in this romance will have you guessing til the end. Trying to stay ahead of the bad guys proves to be interesting at times. Its a great book worth reading. I'm off to another adventure. J

Truly One of The Best Stories!!
I so loved these two characters so much. I felt like a part of the story because as she was staring at her husband I too was trying to imagine what he looked like 😂😂😂😂. Thanks Ann Marie Scott for sharing this wonderful wonderful story with us! 💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊

Ok
The book was ok but just not that exciting I read threw it but fought I would read it again. But my taste in book might not be TBE same as others so even though it was not my favorite it might be someone else's favorite. I would recommend everyone to read it and form there own opinion.

Short and sweet.
Cameron and Katherine. Cameron is a warrior and Katherine is being named the lady of the clan. He is assigned to protect her. Despite their rocky beginning 3 years prior, their attraction is undeniable and they soon find themselves engaged. Cameron has pledged to protect her but the enemy has other plans and makes multiple attempts to kill them both.

Good love story
Love historical romance novels, especially in a time were women are strong. Many women were not respected in this era especially becoming a leader of a clan. I loved Katherine when she was feisty, but she spend a lot of time in her room crying het character could have been a bit more stronger. Shorty story good read.

Really enjoyed this story with its captivating characters and a storyline that had its share of suspense and intrigue. Katherine finally was made laird of her clan, but someone was determined to change that. Don’t miss this amazing story.

I loved reading the Highlander's Royal Blood. So intriguing and the story line was great! My rating of 5 stars was well deserved. I was enthralled, I read it in just a few hours, I could not put it down. It kept me in suspense. Thank you for a great book!

This second book in the series does not disappoint. While the tapestry woven with all of the intrigue, family first, challenging too keep the readers involved . Characters were Will developed and entertaining.

If you are looking for a book that is similar to a romance like Elizabeth Bennett and Darcy, then this is the book for you. If you love a strong girl heroine, then I bet this story will influence you. Also, if you like a guy that not only raises your desires but can make any woman want him by your side. I couldn't put this book down. This a perfect night read, especially if you are a mom like me and you need to have your mind wonder and relax.
