Peter Brandvold has written well over one hundred action westerns under his own name and his pseudonym, Frank Leslie. Born and raised in North Dakota, he has lived all over the West. He currently lives in western Minnesota with his dog. Follow him at Amazon and here peterbrandvold.blogspot.comand here: facebook.com/peter.brandvold.
Getting old, same plots, different names but same characters. Poor proofreading; sawed off shotgun of Prophets shrinking from the original 8 gauge to a10 gauge, to a12 gauge. Any more tales and he'd be down to a .410. Other than that, enjoyable.
This is another compelling story whose action is continuous. Very difficult to put down the book. Heroine and hero have super strength and intuition. Good fast reading.
I enjoyed the series. However, I had issues with how the stories were told
Too much verbosity/exaggerated fluff describing items, people or places. Also, I got mighty sick of the use of G.D. throughout Mr Brandvold's series of books. Other than that, good story lines.
I've read all 3 volumes and was not disappointed. I'm sorry to see this series end. I love Lou Prophet and Louisa Bonaventure aka The Vengeance Queen. They are serious, funny, and laughed and cried together. PLEASE DO MORE!!!
I really liked both books on this hombre. I would recommend, this book, to family, friends and whoever, likes reading a book with rooting tooting shooting hombre with his sidekick, the Vengeance Queen.
If you enjoy fast passed stores from start to finish then this is a must read! As with most of his books he ties them together but if you're not interested in reading the complete series you can read any of the books and figure out what's going on.
After finishing the third volume it ends but isn’t finished? Will there be a volume 4 ? I love the characters and will miss them. I really didn’t want the book to end. I was afraid of a different ending. Thanks for sharing your stories. Bill
I have read all of lou and Louisa books and enjoyed reading them I am going to miss them, come on Peter when's the next one on prophet and the queen..??
I have read series 1.2. and three and enjoyed every one ,Peter Brandvold describes his characters in great detail ,and also the surrounding countryside.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. Good writing and story line. It'll be interesting to see if picks this story up with some time that lapses.
Lou & Louisa hit the trail again and things went to heck and back!
Lou and Louisa have teamed up again to take down a Killer and his gang in the Dakota Territory. It was cold which was about right for November. Lou had tracked the men to a small ranch that had a clearing with log buildings. Deciding to check out the barn first. Lou figured that with his heavier foot he should come in the back. Louisa could step quieter than a native Indian warrior, so she should go in the front, this way they would have a better chance to take down anyone that was in there.
As Lou entered the barn, he heard a grunt, hurrying forward he finally recognized Louisa kneeling at the front of the barn, just inside the doors. He had seen some shapes hanging from the rafters but when he reached Louisa, he realized that the hanging objects were not farm implements, they were people! In fact, four of them, a man and woman, plus a young girl and boy. The young girl had been brutally ravaged. Knowing all of Louisa’s family had been killed also, plus her mother and sister had been viciously violated, he went to Louisa to see how she was.
He could almost see the steam rising from her, her eyes were dark and hard looking, and she was breathing hard. He could nearly hear the pounding of her heart. He stood in front of her and told her to pull in her horns. She stepped around him and loudly pumped a cartridge into her rifle as she headed for the door of the cabin. Lou knew he had no choice as there was no way that he could stop her. She was seeing the scene in her head again of her own family being killed and ravaged.
Now the story begins…
Lou Prophet: The Complete Series, Volume 3 includes – Bring Me the Head of Chaz Savidge, The Devil's Bride, The Devil's Fury, and Ride With the Devil.
What did I like? We are on volume three and the storylines only get better and better. The troubles that the pair come up against are more involved and tons more emotional. I love the tender connection that Lou and Louisa share. It’s like ying and yang, as they complement each other, and they know that if the other is in trouble, hell or high water would not keep them from helping. I felt like in this book, they bonded more than in the others. Especially, on Louisa’s part, she just seemed to know that things were not right for Lou and that she needed to be there for him.
What will you like? Man, the action has been kicked up to high gear. Each story takes it a step higher and higher. There is a ton of emotional content also. As everyone knows that has ever picked up one of Peter’s books, he has a knack for his descriptions and especially the details for the storyline and his characters. I have always been able to jump into the plot and see the places and people that interact with his main characters. He also can bring those same characters to life for his readers. I know that every one of them has become my friends and of course, we always want to know what is going on with friends. Don’t miss this action-packed volume three of our favorite bounty hunters. Watch from the sidelines as they both ride the west!
If you enjoy westerns with lots of action, you probably will enjoy this book. Lou Prophet is a bounty hunter with the morals of an alley cat and his side kick Louisa is not much better.
