Very entertaining adventure novel. Think James Bond/Robert Langdon. Humour aplenty and action packed. Will look forward to the next one.

Laughable

The first half of this book is cringe worthy to say the least I don't think anyone proofread it for a start . Tom tells a woman his parents died in a terrorist attack when he was seven then in the next line tells her that ever since he was six he'd been dreaming of getting revenge on those responsible , there is no way a child wether six or seven would think that , also every time he would encounter bad guys or girls he would get disarmed and then battered by them and even though he drives a fast car they out drive him every time and even though the bad guys kill everyone they come across including priests monks and kids they always leave the main characters unconscious when they could have put a stop to them , for the first half of the book he's more Johnny English than James Bond and so I struggled reading it , so you must be thinking why three stars , well the second half of the book did pick up and I enjoyed it , saying that I'm being very generous with three I just hope the next few books improve as I bought them when they were on offer but for now I'm going to read something else , to let my brain ( what's left of it ) recover.

Tom is a member of COBRA but not really feeling it. Tom has a unique way of following rules. He thinks outside the box. Actually. I am not sure Tom has any boxes.
On a plane to Europe he takes down two terrorists, but his boss isn’t too happy.

Given 2 week off to get his head on straight. He runs into Hellen, an old flame. That is where the adventure begins. Hellen works for The Blue Shield who attempts to find stolen pieces of art.

There have been many precious relics that have been stolen from Roman Catholic Churches. The Who and why aren’t know.

Lots of different players that aren’t who they appear to be Some group, the AF, seem to be behind everything.

They are the ones stealing Catholic Relics. They found the Sword of St. Peter . It is be presented to the Holy Father in Barcode. The purpose....behead the Holy Father on air in the Crypt.

The Sacred Weapon is very paced paced, twist and turns, never real sure is on who’s side.

Action packed. Started book 2.

entertaining but frustrating

The crazy, high speed, and bizarre plot gave me whiplash but kept me entertained. I couldn’t have finished it otherwise. The spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes and general plot holes were frustrating. The characters were not very well developed. I wish there had been more character studies. I was screaming GIVE ME SOMETHING! Let me know they feel emotions!! But alas, I was left with cheesy dialogue and characters who seemed unhinged in every way.

The Sacred Weapon by M.C. Roberts surprised me with most of the accuracy of the historical facts. Some of the relics stole, hunted for, found and returned are accurate.
Tom sometimes acted like he was bouncing off the walls with his "ideas" but they all could have been done, I think.
This is a book I enjoyed reading and read only this one book (I usually have 2 or 3 going at once) because it was exciting to see what the next adventure would be, and believe me there were more than one adventure tied to another.
A few typos and a few sentences that I had to read several times because they were confusing just reading them.
Have started reading book two in the series and want to find out what Tom is up to now!

This is a good book and I liked the characters but didn’t love them. It is a series so I’m sure as it goes along I would get more acquainted with them. I can tell already that Helen and Tom are going to be in and out of each other’s life throughout the series and that would be frustrating. As for the storyline it is an action packed adventure. Nothing different really from other action stories. Rogue agent can’t follow rules and saves the day with the help of his friend Noah who is another operative. Together they track down the bad guys and in this story save stolen artifacts.

A Decent Adventure.

This was a fast and easy read with likeable characters and a decent plot. Overall, I have to say the writing was a little sloppy. There were a lot of really good ideas, but they were put together in a rather slapdash manner. This had the effect of making the book seem less polished then it really was. There were numerous editing mistakes which ruined the story. It was a shame that silly mechanical problems like repeated sentences and mistaken words screwed up an otherwise good story.

Entertaining

I love conspiracies . This was massive . Holy relics from around Europe were stolen . Cobra , a security agency, had highly trained, elite agents available to protect VIPs. Tom Wagner was one, and he landed in various predicaments . After saving a plane from hijackers he kept a cell phone he found , and then lost it- back to the unknown terrorist group. So he was on "vacation". Nevertheless he got into an investigation .
Well written and interesting with an incredible number of typos, missing words, etc.

Very Good

Tom is a very likable person. Noah is a good friend and a wealth of information. Hellen is a woman devoted to archeology. Tom is looking for the man that killed his parents. He sees the same tattoo on a terrorist as the one on the arm of his parents. murderer. Tom is very resourceful an definitely thinks outside the box. He also has a great sense of humor but not so good when it comes to staying out of dangerous situations. This is a must read just to see how Tom handles things. Great job. Thank you. On to Book 2.

It’s Action

The story moves fast and it has great action, albeit a little escapist in realism. The story is a good one, but the characters lack depth and there is little to no character building. The bad guys that are efficient and ruthless, have no problem killing children but conveniently always place the Hero’s in a position to escape instead of killing them outright. The dialogue is rather bland and basic. It IS a good read, but it is not a deep read. Just action-so if you like action and a little mystery, this is for you.

Nothing New Here

Rehash of a couple of James Rollins' and Clive Cussler's plots. The prose is a bit stilted, but may relax with time. The protagonist has the romantic maturity of a doorknob. Why are so many main characters orphans? Admittedly, I skipped ahead on many parts without much loss of continuity. Story doesn't conclusively end, but sets the reader up for the sequel. Ho hum.

Worthy action, intrigue to fill ones imagination

Trying to save Ancient sacred Relics. You have the good and bad guys trying to outsmart each other and sometimes succeeding! There is plenty of intrigue , secrets and fighting, all to keep your interest but what most caught my attention is how similar this book is to the real wor!d today and that makes this book worth reading over and over again!

This was the first in this new Tom Wagner series I found and it surely lives up to expectations of a thrilling adventure read. Tom is bored with his job with an antiterrorist organization, and when he sees the killer of his parents, he sets off to stop him from his next heinous act. Add to that Tom’s former girlfriend being kidnapped as part of this effort, and he is all in. It is a race across Europe to stop them - hold onto your seats for an amazing read. I’m hooked and moving onto book2!

Excellent book!

This was a classic thriller...the kind I love. There was shoot outs, blowing things up, & the military even got a few pages. There was a star cross lovers, a handsome maverick hero, and lots of bad people. Mix it all together and you have my kind of story. Kudos to Mr. Robers& Mr. Maclay!

Ok series start

When I start a series I understand that the first book is setting the stage for the series. It gets a lot of series background and characters established. This book did not click with me. I like the gender of adventure, but this was just too much. Sorry for this review but I won't be continuing.

Mmm

Written with Roger Moore in mind I think you can actually see his eye Brow rising. Very much in the 'with one blow he was free' very old fashioned thriller and not very good on plot motive.

Fun to read

Lots of action. Moves fast. Hero is a little aggravating being a maverick and cracking corny jokes. Some scenes are not technically realistic but overall fun and entertaining.

The novel was good. During the weapon disclosure, on its course too many historical characters were entwined. Other than that it was good. Nice read kept me flipping kindle pages until the end. The end between Hellen and Tom could have been better.

escape from all reality

Escapist reading, but rubbish-clunky dialogue, weak characters and excessive use of italics. Plenty of action, old relics and conspiracies but just too hard going to achieve its aim.

lost religious artifacts

Brilliantly written. Love the humour amongst the fast action and tension building. Who is pulling whose strings ? Will they find the sacred sword ? Only time will tell

Great Story

A real page turner. No unnecessary long winded descriptions of guns, cars places that seem to be a feature of some new authors. Maybe a stretch of the imagination but thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to more Wagner!

Dragged in the middle

The concept is fantastic, but seriously a man wouldn't be able to get up after fighting off 4 assassins at once. A hero is good to have but a little reality mixed in is great as well.
