The sixth book in the Mountain Life Western Adventure series from Charles Ray!
A troop of cavalry soldiers arrive in Bear Creek, on the trail of a band of deserters. They hire Caleb to guide them into the mountains northwest of the town, an area with they are unfamiliar. Flora, Caleb’s wife, is uneasy about him taking the job, but Caleb’s sense of adventure compels him. After a fiery confrontation, though, he realizes that he’s not as young as he once was, and has to rethink what he will do with his life.
I've been writing since my teens. In addition to writing for several newspapers and magazines in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa, I've written two books on leadership and a number of fiction works. I'm also a published poet, photographer, and artist. I write in several genres, reflecting my broad reading tastes. I spent 20 years in the army, retiring in 1982 and becoming a diplomat. I've worked in about 10 countries and traveled to about 30 more, mining each for material to write about.
Jacob goes above and beyond in this compelling western folklore extravaganza, as he assists the Army in looking for some of their deserter. He is the same old dedicated mountain man, but pulls no punches when he heads out looking for the deserters!
Definitely another five star masterpiece by one of the most prolific writers of outstanding western adventures I have had the opportunity to follow! Caleb, once again, proves himself to be a very dedicated individual in his efforts to assist those in need. He is called upon to help locate a group of Army deserters, and the soldiers he assist are all black, with a white officer in charge. The deserters have no respect for their pursuers, but with Caleb's assistance it is one exciting episode after the other! Outstanding storylines throughout this compelling western masterpiece, as the Author leaves no stone unturned in his successful descriptive rendition of how justice is truly served. Too, the character selections were perfectly portrayed from beginning to end, as each individual part was exceptionally selected for their commanding assignments! Definitely recommend this compassionately entertaining revelation of realistically motivated achievements, as Caleb, once again shines as his descriptive actions resulting in justice being served in an exciting and entertaining revelation of how some may perceived our old American West was finally conquered! Even you non-western readers will find yourselves completely engrossed within the first few pages of this outstanding entertaining western masterpiece as Mr. Ray goes above and beyond in his successful delivery of another outstanding western success story!!!😃
A story about Caleb tracking a bunch of army deserters. As always, it was an exciting tale with lots of action. Well written and well worth reading as are all of Mr. Ray's moves.
Another great story in the life of Caleb Johnson. Follow him as he tracks wanted men over impossible terrain. Enjoy his decision to be a farmer. How long will that last?
