Big Bad Wolves #3

A Little Bad

Rate this book
Shock.

It was an emotion Peter had grown disturbingly familiar with over the past year. So familiar that he thought he had mastered the feeling by now. Case in point:

1. Werewolves exist? Sure.

2. He was one now? Whatever.

3. Brom, Chad, Knave (insert name here) wanted to assault, kidnap, and/or kill him? Not ideal, but Peter had dealt with it all like a champ.

4. Damon was convinced they were soul mates and wanted to pin him to the floor (bed, wall, any surface would suffice really) and have filthy, mind-blowing sex with him until his brain leaked out of his ears? Who was Peter to complain?

But this…?

No.

Peter drew the line at mystical, self-generating wombs. Last time he had checked, he was a man with man parts – and he’d frickin’ show you if you didn’t believe him, thank you very much.

It wasn’t physically possible for him to be… he wasn’t… Jesus Christ, he couldn’t even think the word in his own head.

Pregnant, his inner voice whispered traitorously.

Please note the trigger warnings in the front matter.

I was hoping to see Peter and Damon's relationship mature a bit but if anything, by the end of the book, it was more of a regression.

Instead of having them face their problems and work through them together, the author just threw the same plot devices at the pair to create drama and angst. Don't get me wrong, I love me some angst and it entertained me in the first two books, but
1.) it got very old when similar stuff happened for the third frigging time and
2.) the angst in this one was wayyy worse than in the previous two. I felt like the angst part of the book could've been cut down significantly and it would've still achieved the same effect... though I'm not sure how the conflict here in contributed to the character's development/maturity in any way other than traumatising them for drama's sake.

I think this is the last book in the series, since there was no mention of another sequel. If that is the case, it is imo safe to skip this one since this was just a rehashing of previous plot points but worse - and even left the characters in a worse spot than before.

tl;dr: Uninspired angst for angst's sake with too little comfort in the hurt/comfort equation and no meaningful relationship development to speak of.

For what this book ended up being, it's not the worst thing I've ever read. But I'm so disappointed! The first two books were entertaining and well written for the shifter genre. I was so ready for this third book to take all the drama and resolution from the first two books and deepen both the romantic and platonic relationships, and, most of all, finally show Peter as an equal. Unfortunately, this third book fell back on the same old power dynamics and the exact same trope from the first two books. I don't understand how the characters tell Peter over and over that he's the strongest and bravest person they know - in fact, it's repeated multiple times throughout this book - and yet everyone (especially Damon) continues to treat him as lesser in almost every aspect. Honestly? Peter deserves so much more and it's hard to see what he's relegated to by the end of the series. And even more disappointing is how static Damon's character is. Sadly, his and Peter's relationship feels forced and uncomfortable by the end of this book as Damon never grows or changes how he treats Peter.

And I'm not opposed to reading mpreg, but it came out of left field and was so not a good fit for this story. I personally hate when a pregnancy is introduced into a story and then all the drama is built around it. Despite the blurb's warning of only "mild torture" - or as I read it, mild trauma - this book has a disturbing and gratuitous amount of torture/trauma made even more disturbing considering a pregnancy is involved. It completely killed the fun YA/Twilight-esque vibe, and the story quickly devolved into overdone tropes.

I'm giving this 2 stars because while I was entertained despite the books many flaws, I could never bring myself to read it again. I plan to try Queenie's next book, but I'll always be bummed with how this series ended (I'm assuming this is the end as there was no mention or hint of a fourth book, and I'm not sure I'd read it if there was one). I think readers could read the first two books and skip this one entirely if they don't want to end the series on a lackluster book.

Loved it, the Big Bad Wolf series by Queenie Wise is so good. From the first page to the last it is an adventure waiting to happen and once it begins you just have to read the whole thing because you just have to know how it plays out till the very end.

In hindsight, I hate everything.

The worst thing about this whole series is that the author can write. All three books were page turners for me, whether it was actual interest in the contents of each page or just wanting to get through a garbage plot twist. This one was garbage I skimmed through after Chapter 12. I honestly didn't even want to finish it when I saw that Skylar and Blaze were back as "villains." The only good thing about this whole series is that Peter was never actually r*ped. That kind of lowbar for a plot only exists when an author decides they're going to put a main character through repeated, unnecessary physical attacks with sexual threats. I skimmed over it in the first book because I liked so much of the other elements. In the second book the themes were pushed even harder and I hated it, but still liked things if I just focused on Damon and Peter. When we got past the visiting Alphas in this book without something happening to Peter, I thought YAY, maybe we're going to finally just get a story focusing on fluff and weirdness to conclude the trilogy with a happily ever after. But that was just 40% into this story and the author just ruined everything. I hate that I read any of these books, let alone all three. I want to rescind my ratings on the earlier books, but I was honest in what I said at the time I said it so I'm going to leave it be. The author refuses in these books to list their "pen name" for m/f titles, but I'm sure I can find it. When I do, it will be added to my list of authors never to read again, alongside Queenie Wise. There is nothing I hate more than wasted or warped potential and that is what has happened here. I'm sure there are those who liked this series from start to finish. I can understand that. For me, though, it is clear that this author likes to include themes that I hate to read. I will not be wasting any time giving this author a second chance and I wish that I had listened to the warnings that I got when I posted positive reviews of the first book.

What the hell with this book
At first I was happy to know it become a Mpreg story, coz yeey there's gonna be a cute cub.
But then.....

I'm so sorry but I'm So disappointed. No character development, no relationship development, it's getting worse.

Unnecessary drama, stupid choices, I keep rolling my eyes and curse every times (almost every pages) Peter keep doing something very very stupid or annoying things, and he do it a lot (what an annoying character)

The first and second book is an okay book but this one is super annoying. I keep skip pages and hope it finished already.

This was so good, even though it had my anxiety up for the last half of the book and many tears! I don’t want these books to end, I have fallen in love with Peter and Damon. I feel like the ending was cut short, so I definitely need more!

Well, here we are...

What can I say in my defense? 😅

Well, I guess I WAS a bit curious...

And I already DID have the final book, so....

I took a little look at it.

And surprisingly, this book started off really good.... Hot, Hot🔥😁😉

I DID like this book more than the first two... There's actual involvement between the MCs here. There's at least (Finally!) some growth in their relationship.

AND...

Then were back with the DRAMA and an hilarious tiny surprise.

There's also MORE Persuits of Peter, all through out the book...

And more Evil characters that appear.

So, this wasn't the greatest, by far... But, also, it wasn't the worst.

I didn't like that through out the all series we didn't get a single secondary couple...

Only the MCs relationship is portraited here... How boring is that!

We did get a little hint (and glimpse) at who Luca and Amarillys will end up with, but I really didn't like it... it felt too short, sudden and underdeveloped.

Garrett was an awesome character here... He definitely deserved better! ... More acknowledgement and appreciation... As did Julius! I was sad to see they both didn't get a mate... or some form of happy ending, at all.

Utimately, I don't think this Series really works or benefits from being a m/m romance... As the author might have expected it to.

It only makes the Series a little bit more unique than it's m/f version... But It's not enough to make this a very engaging book/series on it's own.

Overall, I'd say this is quite an average Series, with likeable but underdeveloped characters, in an simple plot with, sadly, no big built of the characters background and history.

I am not going to recover from this anytime soon.

First of all the trigger warnings were not at all remotely adequate for the kind of (metaphorical) torture i had to sit through.

This is actually the first book where i had to skip through literal paragraphs of text for who knows how many pages because reading them is absolute torture. And the only reason I can even slog through skimming the torturously long chapters is because of the promise of a happy end. (Trying my best to not go on a tirade about how giving a vague happy end is not enough compensation for the emotional equivalent of a waterboard)

I however am absolutely aggravated that the author can spend like 5 chapters of gut wrench and yet leaving only a small portion of balm to even try to begin to piece back whats left of my broken heart.

I just wished there was more aftercare. Hecking write another 100-200 words of pure fluff instead of leaving readers with no time to recover.

Spoiler alert

The torture was not even remotely mild nor were the non-consent merely attempted.
Sure there were no actual penetration but obviously continued molestation is not the same as ‘attempted non-con’

It was horrid merely skimming through the paragraph because the inadequate trigger warnings failed to serve their purpose and the worst is that I’d keep denying that the scene wouldn’t drag on for as long as it did because the trigger warning didn’t imply it would.

Well colour me betrayed.

This was actually really deeply disappointing.

The Third book is like reading through a badly adapted fanfiction of romeo and juliet fanfiction, with angst for the sake of angst, a badly written pregnancy that comes out of nowhere and makes 0 sense beyond being used as a vapid plot device to build the third book around and spitting on the first two books, that were actually quite good, by just repeating the exact same story with more angst, a hell of a lot more torture and trauma, and really no redeeming happy ending to make up for it.

There is an ending, sure, but considering how Peter is treated and how he and Damon don't actually progress as a couple etc. It's not a happy one by any stretch of the imagination.

This series was something I was so, so looking forward to and even bought the book because I couldn't wait for the third audiobook to be released but ultimately the third installment just ruins that.

The same thing is Queenie Wise can write, we've seen it in the first 2 books, but it's like AI was used to finish off this one.

Even the writing style seems more sloppy and whatever character progression we thought we were getting a buildup to is forgotten for melodrama.

Idk if Queenie Wise actually used AI, but damn it seems like it. This book is just BAD and I LOVED the first 2.

So disappointed.

This is the Third book in : The Big Bad Wolves Book Series

I want too say that I have liked this series from the beginning the premise is not original but it works for me . In this installment we find our couple will be expecting their first pup which is a HUGE SHOCK to everyone especially little Red / Peter who is in shock that he is even pregnant considering no one told him that this could happen . Of course it wouldn't be Peter if there wasn't some crazy ANGST and soul searching and let's not forget the incredible self doubt that seems to happen to Peter in every book . But I get it Peter's whole life was changed in a instant he had to learn how to live in this new existence which wasn't easy for this quiet teenager . Peter had to leave his whole life behind family friends everything that he had known up to that point and being so young with normal teenager thinking made this even harder . Than falling in love in love with Damond has it's own set of challenges along with Peter having to adjust to a different way of living but in this latest installment we go pretty dark . Darker than I thought was necessary and We have a new villain who is just so messed up and with Peter so close to giving birth things become REALLY TENSE .

Jesus christ lol. This one is the worst of the three! There's so much shit going on, but still the same single POV (boring/annoying), the same lack of communication, the same lack of intelligent conversation in general, the same cardboard characters, and the same WTF plot holes. Add in a dash of completely-over-the-fucking-top and you've got this book! Oh and let's not forget my favorites: ZERO character development, JUST-BECAUSE mpreg and mpreg drama, and complete RECYCLE/REGURGITATION of the plot devices we've already seen in the previous two books.

There is nothing original here. At all.

I'm not even going to bother with a detailed list of problems. The series only got worse as it went along. WAY worse. There isn't much redeemable about it. The covers are deceptive, suggesting a way higher quality of content. Well, its a bait and switch, folks. It's a poorly executed fanfic. My recommendation? Maintain at least 500ft from this series at all times. At the very least, stop after book 2. This one is a total waste.

Great series.

I loved this series. It was fun in that is was written so dramatically and reminiscent of Twilight. I loved snarky dramatic rash Peter even if he was kind of immature and getting himself into major trouble. I loved the devotion from his pack. But after devouring all three books the writing style started getting in my nerves. Everything takes place in Peters head. A lot of important scenes were him reminiscing about the event. Only major things happened in real time and it was Peter describing it. There isn’t a lot of dialogue. And after three books I still don’t feel satisfied with his relationship with Damon. I wanted them to interact more on page besides the intimacy/ rescues/ arguments. I needed more sweet down time to connect with them and feel their love. That’s my only criticism though. It’s a week written if slightly immature but fun trilogy. Mpreg/ ABO/paranormal/ mm romantic suspense :)

...... Wow

I was on the edge of my seat for so much of this book. If I had to pick something that was wrong with Damion n Peters relationship I would have to say their communication skills.... They suck at talking sometimes the other would have to be peter n his inability to realize sometimes that he is now a werewolf n the rules of engagement has changed. Also as much as they try to paint Damion as the big bad they really go hard on playing up not only that Peter use to be human n sometimes act n think as such but also how young he is. I'm not one to blame the victim but a lot of his problem happen after he goes off without thinking....also on another note I was and still am confused about the rose n luca thing.... I'm sure they said luca was only a little older than Peters 18 which I'm assuming means early 20s but I'm sure they said rosa was like 14.... So not sure why it seemed like they were trying to romantically tie them together.... All in all good book tho

I had been waiting so long for this book to come out and was overjoyed when it was suddenly here, I love Peter and his smartass comments, how he pushes Damon.
It could only be entertaining with Peter finding himself in a situation he had no preparation for, and the pregnancy is nothing easy.
Damon is as overprotective as always and it's always fun to read him and Peter butting heads over it.

There's plenty of angst because nothing is ever easy for the pack, and while I did enjoy it, I wanted more time with the pack, the aftermath of it all more than what we got. If this is the last book in the series it ended a bit too abruptly.
I felt there was a few loop holes as well, a few things that happened that was never followed up.
So I would say it's the weakest of the three books but I did thoroughly enjoy being with the pack again and can easily over look the things I mentioned.

I'm already re-reading this series and I usually don't like to re-read. This series is just, absolutely amazing!!! Queenie Wise knows how to write! She made me feel all sorts of emotions as I'm reading her incredibly, well-written series with well-thought-out plot and three dimensional characters. Little Bad is just as good as the first two books in the series. She made me laugh, she made cry, she made grip at the edge of my seat, she made me tense up, she made laugh while crying. Heck, she made laugh while I'm scared for Peter. And I just love the romance - thinking of the love between Peter and Damon just make me sigh with longing. And I just love the pack has for each other - I love everyone of them from Garrett to Ami. I just want more; I don't want this series to ever end!

"A Little Bad" received THREE AND A HALF stars.

Disappointed. Why did every book in the series have to have some form of sexual assault and violent “kidnapping”? Not a fan of the repetitive plot points.

The novel gained *stars* for these items:

* gained for: "The book caught my interest in the first five pages."

* gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."

* gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story."

1/2 * gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more!"

The novel failed to gain stars for this item:

NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author. I will automatically try anything s/he writes."

I enjoyed this book because of the twists to the story line. I wasn't expecting the Mpreg but loved Peter's reaction to it. And because because Peter is a drama queen there had to be some added to this story. However, I do recommend you hold on as this one does get serious. Peter really does have to go through a traumatic incident and his pack has to be there for him like they never have before. This book got a little more darker to me than the others did. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but that isn't a bad thing. I love this pack of wolves and enjoyed spending more time with them!

Overall I really enjoyed the Big Bad Wolves series. I loved that it took a turn in mpreg in this book as that's one of my favourite tropes. As always Peter's snark & sarcasm was very entertaining especially when he discovered he had a magical uterus.
I probably shouldn't have read all 3 books as I found book three a little repetitive. Once again Peter found himself kidnapped and at the hands of an evil man. I enjoyed the pace as we cling to the hope that Peter is rescues before it's too late but it was a little predictable.
If there is a fourth book I would really like to see Damon, Peter and their HEA have a peaceful HEA and I'm dying to see the rest of their pack meet their mates.

I enjoyed this book a lot! Still love Peter and Damon. I really love how sassy and much of a smartass Peter can be to Damon and pushes back. I loved this series and this third book was definitely a great continuation! I loved Damon being so over protective and Peter butting heads with him not wanting to back down at times. The pack is great and I definitely wanted more of them but this was still so good! Loved the curveball Peter got and seeing them work through it all and figure things out along with the angst and some danger. This was a really great book! I definitely love these characters and want more of them.

I really enjoyed this, but I had to knock off a point for the few really wrong words (chucks should've been chunks, borage should've been barrage, balled should've been bawled, and raptors really needed to be rafters!). Honestly, I'd be happy to beta read just to find words that are words but not the word you really mean... Added back in .25 stars just for the brilliance of these people. It's an amazing book, and all of these people are so freaking complex. Wish there were more in this world to read, but I'm not sure how much more stress Peter and I can take. He's earned a bit of uncomplicated (*snort! fat chance!*) happiness by this time!

AN AMAZING SERIES

My heart is absolutely swollen from the love the Prince Pack exudes to each other! It’s also swollen because I finished the final book in the series and there aren’t anymore! Without trying to give away spoilers, honestly, the scene in the cabin with Peter, Garrett and Julius had me crying happy tears and now I finally understand why people usually cry when they witness that particular scenario!

I hope Queenie is possibly struck by a muse to revisit the Pack in the future. Until then, I suppose I’ll just re-read this series that is NEVER leaving my library!

A Wonderful Read

I loved this book even with it's up and downs the magical pregnancy was interesting and a bit different the tone of the story was darker with what happens early on in it but overall I loved it so much. I still loved the characters they were amazing especially Peter even if he does have more things to deal with this time I also loved how trauma was presented by the end since that kind of thing doesn't just disappear. I loved the story for the most part even if some things were hard to get through all the pain and suffering and all I was glad when that was over and there was finally a happy ending.

Surprise MPreg

I truthfully don't know how to feel about this book. Quite a few emotions were felt in the course or reading it though. I dont mind mpreg when I am expecting it, however, there was no indication that this was possible in the two prior books so I was really taken aback by it. The fact that a good portion of the book was just complaining from Peter was also not my favorite. The action in this though was amazing and disturbing. However, I do have problems with how Peter's ptsd was handled in the end. A constant from this entire series though has been the love and care Damon shows Peter.

Even though I really enjoyed this series as a whole, I was a bit disappointed in this third installment. I really loved that Peter became pregnant because it just fit the storyline, however, I was really hoping this installment would delve more into Peter and Damon’s relationship and grow them together. I was hoping that with the pregnancy, Damon would open up more and show more of himself. Instead, we get a kidnapping and Peter gets very traumatized. I liked the ending but I just wish it had happened differently.

Loved, loved, loved it!

I am so happy that the author did another book in this series. It has quickly become one of my few favorite rereads. I love Peter and Damon, and the rest of the pack. They are such a great dysfunctional, loving group, Garret being my next favorite. This story was the darkest yet so far, but I remained riveted to the end, and what a great conclusion that was. I seriously hope that Queenie gives us more books with these characters. I am not ready to let them go! More rereads are definitely coming.

This book was beautiful, traumatizing, and beyond amazing

I loved this entire series, but this one in particular was so detailed and astonishing that I hated putting it down. I read this at a somewhat rough time in my life when I was crying over the little things for some stupid reason. Although about half the story made me tear up or want to scream, I absolutely loved it. The family (blood and bitten) had always gotten under my skin in the most heartwarming way.
Ps, I just realized Blood and Bitten sound alike a good book series name.

This was an ok ending, not the best tho. The book was too long and I got bored with the whole never ending kidnapping thing. We only have Peter s pov so there were so many instances that ended up being anticlimactic, like the final fight between Damon and Alpha. Damon is missing much of the action and actual birth only to come in and finish everything in a second. The epilog if it can be called that was also disappointing, not much to it. After everything it would have been nice to have a glance at their future.
