While Angels Slept
Lady Cantia loses her husband Brac in a skirmish and is lost to her grief. The pain led her to make an attempt on her life. If not for her young son and intervention from Viscount Winterton she may have tried again.
Cantia isn't the only one grieving, her father in law is just as hurt by the loss of his son. Instead of honoring his son he seems to blame Cantia and lashes out at her several times.
The viscount has to intervene and eventually confine the elder man to make sure he can't hurt anyone or himself.
The viscount soon finds himself developing feelings for the young widow, feelings that are mutual. But love and happiness don't come easy to this couple. They must face their secret coming to light, covetous cousins, kidnapping, betrayal, and an estranged wife.
Rise of the Defender
Christopher De Lohr returned from the Holy Land as the fiercest warrior and champion of Richard-King of England. Chris also returns with a new title and mission given to him by Richard. He is to control the armed forces and keep tabs on the usurper John. First he must pass on the news that Baron Barringdon has died. Then he must marry the man's spirited daughter.
Oh what havoc one woman can reap. The Lady Dustin threatens the bonds of honor, kinship, and fealty for Richards top knights. She is reluctant to marry Christopher yet sought after by both his friends and enemies. Not to mention the two fight like cats and dogs.
This was a powerful book. There were so many elements involved. So much deception and betrayal. Loyalty was tested to the very last thread. But love conquered it all!
