The Ladies of D-Block 4

Rate this book
The Ladies of D-block are back in this breathtaking finale. Prentiss has completely become a product of her violent environment. She joined the City girls for protection but now the dorm needs protection from her. Likewise, Lisa slips further into the insanity of her surroundings. She becomes a predator in search of prey. Amanda is in a downward spiral, speeding towards rock bottom. A court date is right around the corner if she lives long enough to reach it. Officer Daryl Johnson has completely lost his mind. His new found wealth and popularity threaten to swallow him whole. Chuck Stanton is on a quest to save the woman he loves, while trying to maintain his integrity. He'll find out it impossible to do both and one will have to go. The Chaplain, warden and deputy warden each strive for their goals but none have anything to do with the Ladies of D-block. Then there's the death chamber on the cover. Someone will end up strapped to that gurney before this story ends. The Ladies of D-block 4 starts now...

Great series that despite the setting made a nice love story. As stated previously, I was happy for Chuck and I felt the ending was appropriate. I have been reading Sa'id's books for a number of years and have enjoyed them all. His ability to take to an unfortunate situation, give you the real deal and add a touch of humor is a remarkable trait very few have accomplished. The characters were realistic as the chaos and craziness they were causing I'm sure happens in real life. Now that I've completed this series, I'm looking forward to reading about the Gentlemen....

Happily Ever After

Shay & Chuck, what can I say? How does the saying go? Don’t judge a book by its cover (meaning the characters). Chuck saw pass the facade Shay displayed. Prisoner crazy horse did not fool Chuck. He saw her youth, her innocence, her need for a strong man to love and protect her and not misuse her. Entering the penal system at the age of 13, made Shay smart so she could survive. She played crazy and no one bothered her. She survived long enough for Chuck to investigate her case and fought for her freedom. He had to finally stop straddling the fence and landed on the wrong side to save Shay. He was smooth and didn’t get caught. I liked Chuck because even though these ladies were prisoners, he treated them as human beings. In turn, “OFFICER ON DECK-DECENT” was his name given by the ladies. They offered him sex, flashed him, threatened him but he stayed true to Shay both on the inside and outside. Shay still had a lot of life to live. She was 21 when she was released, reunited with her grandmother, became a wife and lost her virginity to her husband.

Ohhhhh Mmmmm Geee

Getting right to it, I was shocked and saddened by the depths to which Lisa has sunken because she didn't deserve the events that led her to D-Block nor did Tanisha deserve her wretched fate that Lisa brought forth . Daryl took the cowardly way out. He was reckless and stupid so I couldn't feel badly for him but I do for the lives created he would never meet. He had quite a mean piece to turn a stud into a lady and a racist into the mother of a mixed race child. I only wished he could have stopped before getting in too deep. No words for the Chaplin or Deputy Mays trifling a$$es but I will say they were smart enough to not get caught. Prentiss and Amanda deserved to be set free. Great story; The loss of star was due to the typing errors and hurried ending.

Oh so good!!!!

I love everything that Said Salaam has written. He is an exceptional writer and always keeps you intrigued, from Dopeboys, to Vampires, and now women in prison. That ending was as good if not better than the prior 3. Loved that ending.

EXCELLENT!!

I'm 61 years old and have never been to jail. This book has everything-sex, drugs, murder betrayal. Most of the officers and staff were criminals themselves. I REALLY enjoyed the many characters and gangs. On to "Men of D Block".

Great series, I enjoyed how the whole story played out. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because as the series went on (books 1-4) the editing got worse. This 4th book having the most grammatical errors

Great ending. Honestly, it turned out to be better than i thought. The problem is that it started out slow, but you see how the characters evolve as the time goes pass. It is a definite read.
