Every job has its skillset, including being an innkeeper. With the Blacksoul Band vanquished, Damon sets aside swinging his sword for a life of pouring ale and polishing tables. He and his family, under their new names, find peace and comfort within The Rosewood Inn.
Unfortunately, trouble has a way of rearing itself up while everyone is settling down. Princess Kastet's former lady-in-waiting, Lilian, shows up at the inn with a message from a powerful ally. A message which not everyone is interested in hearing...

3.5 stars. The plot seemed to move a bit faster here, otherwise it's another book in this series, with all which that entails.
I'm not sure where this is going. There were a couple of plausible "end" points, particularly at book 4 (if memory serves), but those have been blown past and it appears that the author is going for the bigger story, the clash of the "Remnants".
This is a worthwhile idea if handled in a reasonable number of books, but we're already at 8 (which I haven't read just yet) and I'm sure from the events in this book it won't end there, not in under 300 pages. We're at or past my usual tolerance for number of books in a series, so I hope this wraps up before I can no longer be bothered to read them.
To Ms Merchant: The one-shot kill will be if I have to read another tied fight between Damon and Austine. FFS please finish that, if you didn't already in book 8.
The saga of Damon, Princess Kastet, Vel, Ria, and Malon continues This continues the story from Books 1- 6 after eliminating the Blacksoul Band. The family settles down as innkeepers for a while, but it doesn’t last long. There is lots of intense action, unexpected plot twists, gripping suspense, steamy romances, forbidden longings, dark cravings, dangerous secrets, and illicit urges. If you get this book after reading Books 1- 6, be assured the story continues to engage, surprise, and delight. If you haven’t read Books 1- 6, you should definitely read them first. I’m off to Book 8….
This book is a step up from Anyas earlier works where sometimes the character development suffers a bit until the climax. The relationships are much more nuanced in this series and especially this book than they have been in Anyas earlier series. The character progression is believable and relatable; the sex scenes... well if you;re a fan you know.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
