The one focuses solely on Lark Markus. What I mean by that is that he does a couple of solo missions. No a lot of action. Lark interacts with a seven headed monster and elves in this one. Overall a quick read. I enjoy the series though I always wish for more. More magic, more explanation of power, more interpersonal relationships. The one thing it does have that I can't complain about is an insanely OP MC.

Buku keenam dalam siri Legend of the Arch Magus, bergenre high fantasi dgn elemen2 medieval, kingdom building, dan sword & sorcery.

Semi interesting story but idiotic

The overall plot seems to be decent but there are too many issues with the book.
Sentence structure and how everything is phrased makes it a frustrating read.
This coupled with the MC having literally no struggle or self improvement throughout. It reads as MC went here did this, MC went there did that. It also really doesn't help that the MC willfully chooses the dumbest option in most things. His interactions with others are 'say something, think to self "hmm could this go wrong in this specific way... Nope! Let's leave it be" and then it goes wrong in that exact way' on repeat.

What a letdown

This is it. The book that ended the series for me. The MC turned into an uncaring idiot, he misses obvious things like some sort of airhead, he keeps trading with Big Mona even though the guy is a complete ass, and the end ? WTF was that? A slave girl stabbed and cut apart to see how well a potion works ? NO! that's it for this series and this sick author. Sorry I didn't end it sooner when he was describing trowing children into a fire to demoralize enemy troops.

Finally!

Love this series and the way the MC uses his brain to solve problems. Blackie is absolutely one of the best characters ever, love him! Lol. I do hope his powers grow and he can great an “Endless Empire”! I can’t wait for the next book and absolutely can’t wait for the audiobook publisher pack!

"Forbidden Region," the 6th book in Michael Sisa’s "Legend of the Arch Magus" series, published in 2021 and narrated by Tom Taylorson, thrusts Havellion, the reincarnated Arch Magus, into uncharted territories both literal and narrative. This audiobook expands the progression fantasy and kingdom-building saga established in the previous books, introducing exotic locales, ancient secrets, and formidable foes. "Forbidden Region" delivers a thrilling exploration and magical spectacle, making it a vibrant chapter in the series.

The story follows Havellion as his flourishing domain, now a hub of magical and economic innovation, faces new challenges that draw him to a mysterious and perilous region. Sisa excels in crafting vivid, adventurous settings, with the titular "Forbidden Region" brimming with arcane dangers and hidden histories. The audiobook’s highlight is its blend of exploration and magical combat, as Havellion navigates treacherous landscapes and confronts powerful adversaries using his unparalleled arcane mastery. These sequences are exhilarating, balancing strategic cunning with fantastical flair. The ongoing kingdom-building - enhancing fortifications, refining magical education, and expanding influence - remains a core strength, offering satisfying progression for those who relish seeing a visionary leader reshape a world.

Sisa’s prose is fast-paced and functional, prioritizing action and plot over emotional depth. This accessibility drives the narrative. Supporting characters are more developed in this book.

Tom Taylorson’s narration remains a highlight, elevating the material with his dynamic performance. His commanding voice captures Havellion’s authoritative presence, while his versatility distinguishes a diverse cast, from enigmatic guides to monstrous threats. Taylorson’s pacing amplifies the tension of exploration and combat scenes, and his ability injects nuance into expository passages.

"Forbidden Region" offers an adventurous, magic-rich journey with exceptional narration.

End of the road

For me this is very likely the end of the road for this series. It has many good qualities, but now the negatives have just outdone the positives.
The MC is getting seriously OP; Thunderlord saw all the grand scale magic etc then proceed to try to threaten the MC for his interest in an artefact. Stupid enemies are nice, but a royal mage might at least have an IQ above 80.
No romance at all, he left his interest for anything other then practical matters in his early teens in his last life. Seriously has at least two beautiful and powerful girls interested in him and he is like “what ever, need to look at the blue prints for a tower. Much more interesting. “

I think there is a story here that, if told by a more accomplished writer, could be worth reading. This is not that story.

Weak writing, flat characters, limited world-building, and an anemic plot make this the last book in this series I will read.

Forbidden Region (Legend of the Arch Magus #6) by Michael Sisa

Forbidden Region by Michael Sisa, the sixth installment in the Legend of the Arch Magus series, continues the epic tale of Lucas, a powerful Arch Magus reborn into a new world. This volume delves deeper into the intricacies of the world Sisa has created, with Lucas facing new challenges and adversaries as he ventures into uncharted territories. While the book provides a compelling continuation of Lucas's journey, it also highlights some areas where it falls short compared to other series in the same genre.

Sisa’s writing in Forbidden Region remains consistent with the previous books, characterized by clear prose and a strong focus on action and strategy. The narrative is driven by Lucas's unrelenting pursuit of power and his tactical acumen, which keeps readers engaged as he navigates the complexities of the new region. The detailed descriptions of magic and combat are a standout feature, providing a vivid picture of Lucas's capabilities and the challenges he faces.

One of the notable strengths of Forbidden Region is its world-building. Sisa expands the scope of the series by introducing new landscapes, cultures, and magical phenomena. This enriches the narrative and keeps it fresh, as Lucas's exploration of the forbidden region brings new elements into play. The introduction of new characters and factions adds depth to the story, although their development can sometimes feel secondary to Lucas's central arc.

When comparing Forbidden Region to its contemporaries, such as Dakota Krout's Divine Dungeon series or William D. Arand's Otherlife series, several differences become apparent. Like Krout's work, Sisa's series emphasizes the protagonist's progression and strategic thinking, but Krout's novels often incorporate more humor and a broader range of character interactions. In contrast, Forbidden Region maintains a more serious tone and a tighter focus on Lucas, which can be both a strength and a limitation.

Compared to Arand's Otherlife series, which delves deeply into the psychological and emotional aspects of its characters, Forbidden Region can feel more surface-level in its exploration of character motivations and relationships. While Lucas is a compelling protagonist, his interactions with others often lack the emotional depth and complexity that characterize Arand's work. This can make the story feel somewhat linear and less dynamic, particularly when it comes to character development.

Furthermore, the pacing of Forbidden Region can be uneven. While the action scenes and strategic planning are engaging, there are moments where the narrative slows down, particularly during lengthy expositions or descriptions of the magical system. This can disrupt the flow of the story and make it feel more like a series of disconnected events rather than a cohesive narrative arc.

In conclusion, Forbidden Region (Legend of the Arch Magus #6) by Michael Sisa offers a solid continuation of Lucas's journey, with strong world-building and detailed action sequences. However, when compared to its contemporaries, it falls short in terms of character development and narrative depth. While fans of the series will appreciate the expansion of the world and the new challenges Lucas faces, those looking for a more emotionally rich and dynamic story might find it lacking.

These books are so dumb. I can’t stop reading them.

Big power increase in this which is always fun in this sort of book, but oh boy was some of the writing bad. Maybe it’s just that now I’m noticing a lot of the repeated phrases. Like when the author uses a clever phrase like “trample over them like mere insects” or “devil incarnate”, we end up seeing that same phrase used like 5 more times in the same chapter. The other thing that happens a lot is we have the narrator give a description of how a person is feeling or what they’re thinking, and then that person will say what they felt or thought. So we basically hear every piece of info twice.
I wonder how much of the book would be cut if all these repeated descriptions and dialogues were removed in a thorough edit of the book.

Also I noticed that near the end the elves comment on how humans all have similar sounding names, but the beginning of the book they made a big deal about how demons all have completely different names. So is it elves AND demons that have the same rule with different sounding names? It’s just so dumb. My goodness. Fun though.

4⭐️

This was the best book by far in the series for me. And most of the reason for that is Blackie and his interactions with Lark. This seemed more of a lighthearted point in the series and that makes me think that the next book or even the next few are going to be heavy. A lot happens in this book for such a short book and also not. We see the town getting bigger and developed more which is one of my favourite parts and on the other end Lark is also slowly building up his power to levels that he had in his previous life (which once again lends credence to my theory that shit is going to go down soon).

So I am probably going to take a small break from the series here. This book made me laugh out loud and I would like to feel that way a bit longer and probably read a different book before I jump back in.

Once again an excellent book

I find myself once again captivated by the story. Sometimes turning in directions I’ve never expected. So often nowadays the stores have become so predictable it’s a boring to read them. I love the fact of how you think the story is going in one direction and then it just turns on its heels and you find yourself going somewhere else and you realize it wasn’t something the author just decided because there were many clues planted before the event. My only criticism of the book is that it’s too short. All of the books in the series I have found to be too short. And now I must wait patiently for the next book in the series.

It's still my guilty pleasure to read this series. The writing has finally improved by much, however the OP Lark Marcus, living God is still a pain to read through.

I am glad that the word since hasn't appeared not once in this book. Just for that it gets three stars. The rest of the storyline is, how shall I say, weirdly lacking.

Still, Evander gets even more OP, we get a foreshadowing of dreadful things to come that he can take care of. And the city builder simulation going on is fine to read.

Albeit the pantomime villains, and ultra greedy merchants that stoop to no lows are still present, as are additional hurdles along the way for our golden hero to overcome with no effort.

Fun Stuff

I've just finished this book, as I am writing this review. I am giving it, and the series as a whole, 4 stars simply from the pure enjoyment factor. I cannot with a right conscious give it 5 stars, because that means there isn't any room for improvement. This is not the case, in fact I'm sure there is a great deal Michael can improve. For instance, I would love to read more of him showing rather than telling. Paint us a picture and let us rely on our imaginations to bring it to life. Spelling each thing out distinctly makes for a simple read, not an elegant one.

Please keep writing, I enjoy your stories!!

Very entertaining fantasy

Bottom line ... I really enjoy the continuation of the story about the most powerful wizard in the world who gets resurrected 1,500 years after his age vanished. My main complaint is the books are much too short.

I understand this is not Lord of the Rings. The main character is very OP, there is no deep character development or romance. That said, it’s a nice change from the litrpg, harem, and apocalyptic stories which seem to predominate current books.

Too short and ends abruptly

The books in this series are short. Between 300 and 400 words. If you are into the style of story then they can be worth the 5+ dollies for each book. But just barely. This book in the series doesn't give you that. It is less than 200 pages and costs just as much as the others. It doesn't really push the story forward and it ends abruptly for seemingly no reason. It's half a book. At least have the decency to charge half price. This feels like a rip-off unfortunately

Great Book, Great Series

Lark is really coming into power. On his way to power and riches, he crosses a guardian monster that he must battle. Blackie, the monster, turns out to be an interesting character in himself. I like the action and humor. There are a couple of opportunities for romance, but he avoids any entanglements. This is one of my favorite series. I look forward to the next book.

Somewhat Annoyed

The book is as well written as the previous 5but what truly bothers me is this book is the shortest in length of all of them but by fee the most expensive. It took m me days to decide if it was worthwhile to download it and honestly, I'm still not sure. Had this been the first in the series i can state definitively that I'd not have bought it add i never have before.
Having said that,it is well written with few, if any errors, grammatical or otherwise.

Another good book

Like this one too. Would like more second person views maybe some cliff hanger takes from the side characters. there's a lot of them too keep up with and everyone is progressing with the story. Like I said before this is a light novel like format. With higher stakes being raised at the beginning of the book. my only complaint is i saw no pre-order again soo i only found the book recently. Can't wait for the next one looking forward too it !!

Wow. WOW! And WOW!!!

I really wish I had the money to buy your patronage but I’m a teacher with a family and money is tight. I should be able to make a one time donation though. Your books are uplifting, intense and mind boggling. I WANT more. You are on par with Dakota Krout, Eleron Kong, and one of my favorite unsung authors, Michael J Sullivan. Thanks for an awesome adventure!

Enjoyable but filler

As mentioned in the review title - the story is enjoyable but feels like it is a filler book designed to set up for the next book or two. Many things happen in this book but the events are quite straightforward, which I liked as they allowed the author to build more on the world and characters.

I'm very much looking forward for the next book as this one primed a few plot paths for our MC to wander down.

wooden

Fairly juvenile extremely simplistic tale. This author writes dialogue like I do, which is why I’m not an author. Wooden, repetitive dialogue and zero character development. Incredibly rapid development of his town, and hey now we get elves. Not really sure there is much more plot than “damn I’m a great magician”. Anyway I bought them all and they aren’t completely terrible.

Fun and entertaining

I’m up to book 6 and really enjoying the journey. Well enough written and the characters are reasonably well fleshed out. As the series progresses it seems like the books end a bit abruptly which feels like a bit of a rip off designed to make you buy the next one but they aren’t very expensive so I don’t really mind as over all I’m looking forward to the story expanding.

A nice continuation of the series. I'm happy we return to Blackwell Town, though we still got a lot of action. Blackie was a nice addition to the story.
