J.S. Striker lives on the west coast with her hubby and 2 Great Danes. The coast is full of magical forests, the mountains and ocean often giving her inspiration for her stories. Having worked as a social worker most of her adult life J.S. is now giving writing all her energy and loving every minute of it. Enjoy!
I read advanced copies and voluntarily reviewed each of these books as they were released.
Sins and Supernaturals
The irresistible Andrei St. Charles will finally get his chance to win his mate. Unfortunately, he first has to get her out of her prison cell in the dungeon of Edmund Masters' house where he helped put her. Fiona Summers has been a prisoner in the small hidden pocket of a secret realm for over a month. Though the patient interrogator, Ovie, has tried to get her to turn on the Hunter group she belongs to, he has had no luck. Shifters are sneaky and cunning, but they are no match for her or the other Hunters. She will find a way to escape and figure how to find this clan's pocket entrances and then will help slay them all. Maybe. The kids that sneak in to visit her are cute, though they doesn't stop her from trying to use them to engineer her escape. Nope. But the mysterious Andrei might just be her undoing. He might just change her mind about her shifter prejudices. Maybe. When he brings her evidence that seems to indicate her group is involved in some unsavory treatment of shifters and shifter children she is determined to prove him wrong. She is also determined to fight her attraction to him. She may fail at both undertakings.
Wicked Temptation
Sin Chen was bored in the safe house where he was a "guest" of the shifters who had rescued him from the Hunters. Sin is a vampire and being in New York where the night life called to him and he was unable to answer was not tolerable. When his guard is changed from Levi Stone to the pretty Jessa Turner, he takes his chance to distract her and leave the house. She, of course, finds him but he is doing nothing shady, just enjoying a nice dinner and a gelato. An unpleasant confrontation in an alley with an out of control shifter eases her mind about his intentions but she is surprised when he asks Edmund to allow her to accompany him back to his clan's pocket, posing as his fiancee.
Some very exciting and sexy times will follow Sin and Jessa as they journey to the exclusive mansion of the Miami vampire clan. Sin will battle for the position of clan leader and the two will try to figure out who betrayed Sin to the Hunters. As the family secrets come to light they still have not found out who is behind the turmoil. Will it be too late when they do?
Shifter Boss
Great story. I was so happy to Edmund finally met his match.
Edmund and his PA are off in the protected pocket ( the one accessed from their pocket, and Sin's). Cracks are starting to form in the pocket entrances and Edmund only knows one place to go for help, and it won't be either an easy or a quick trip. When Nancy gets accidentally dragged in with him he has no choice but to take her along. Now if the two can only stop arguing with each other. It will turn out that Nancy's presence will be a good thing. She is smart and resourceful and that always comes in handy when dealing with the crazy, constantly changing conditions in this particular pocket. Things are going to get a mite uncomfortable when they reach their destination, but I am not going to spoil the story for you. It is a good one. Can't wait for Levi's story.
Shifter Fever
I loved, loved, loved Levi and Kalina's story. You may remember that Edmund sent Levi through Kalina's portal before it closed. Levi was directed to help Kalina heal and get her magic back. Levi takes his assignment seriously, but Kalina doesn't make it easy for him. She comes after him several times while in her dragon form, but eventually she takes his advice to heart and stops using up her magic faster than she can sustain it. As she begins to heal she also starts to appreciate Levi. He is patient and kind and oh so good-looking. When he helps her find a way to get some magic back, she finally admits that she wants him. They make their plan to lure another wizard into a trap that will allow Kalina to take his magic, but things don't quite go according to plan...
Oh, you will love Twig.
Fated Mated
I was glad to see another book in this series. This one is unique in that we have a Hunter, Declan August, teaming up with Kimmy Chen to investigate some vampires. Of course, in the beginning neither recognizes the other for what they are, a potential enemy. Throw in the youngsters from Edmund's clan who have left their pocket and gone to Miami to see if they can find evidence of another half-nightwalker, half-human like Sidney, and you have quite the kerfuffle. Kimmy needs to keep the three out-of-towners out of danger while trying to ferret out information on the vamps.
Declan and his sister come from a family of hunters who have tried to stay on the "good guy" side of hunting supernatural. They focus on those supes who harm humans rather than just supernaturals in general. Right now they are focused on finding their mother who has disappeared. When he first meets Kimmy he thinks she is a human needing protection and she thinks he is an overprotective guy looking for a damsel in distress. One kiss shows them both they were wrong about the other, but are they right for each other?
Step Mates
Loved the book. Set several years after the previous book, this one is about Sidney Peach and her "brother" Jameson. Since Sidney is half-vampire and half-human, she is a commodity to the supernatural community. Especially amongst the vampires who would love to figure out a way to have more of their kind born of human women. She has been pretty much kept hidden in the clan's pocket to keep her from being snatched. Sidney is pretty tired of it. She is bored out of her mind and knows she is just as capable as her brothers Max and Jameson. Unfortunately, when she sets out to prove it she ends up right where the clan feared she would. Now she has all the supernaturals in New York, and everywhere else too, looking for her. Jameson takes her to a hidden pocket where the remaining members of his old clan are living. Little does he know that he has just taken her into the greatest danger of all.
I loved each and every book in turn. The story lines are strong, the characters are pleasant and believable ( in a fantasy world ). There is lots of action and intrigue along the way as the journey takes you through the turmoil and tribulations of love and survival, with conflicts of emotions between friends and allies. The last book however, for me had me a bit lost. I felt Miss Striker was so engrossed in the plot that it got a bit confusing, it got to the stage where I didn't who was talking or who was in the scene, as everything was happening at once, but saying that I managed to work it out in the end. Like I said, a great set of book's! Now, where can I find her next set books ????
