Dr. Ivan Misner is the Founder & Chairman of BNI, the world's largest business networking organization. BNI was founded in 1985. The organization has over 5,800 chapters throughout every populated continent of the world. Last year alone, BNI generated 6.5 million referrals resulting in $2.8 billion dollars worth of business for its members.

Dr. Misner's Ph.D. is from the University of Southern California. He is a New York Times Bestselling author who has written twelve books including his latest #1 bestseller, "Networking Like a Pro".

He is a monthly columnist for Entrepreneur.com and is the Senior Partner for the Referral Institute - a referral training company with trainers around the world. In addition, he has taught business management and social capital courses at several universities throughout the United States.

I am a BNI member and have been for a while so found it a bit basic and a bit of a BNI sell. Good for brand new members or those on the cusp of joining.

If you have some exposure to BNi or have been a part of it then the book is acts as a guide for you to optimise your journey and to become loyal to the organisation. The book tries to affirm your belief in the BNi system and tries to ensure you invest in it.

For someone else who is picking the book thinking it is a networking book, you will be feeling misled into reading a promotional material for BNi. If you try hard to read past the promotion, there are genral things you can apply elsewhere, but apart from that, nothing special. Avoid this book.

The review is for the book only and not BNI:

This book is completely for BNI members and people who wanted to develop their network through BNI. Some of the scenarios sound surreal and too positive, like for luring new members in to the group. They haven't considered any negative scenarios and thoughts to overcome some common challenges. However, the stress is on developing your contacts network within and outside BNI and how it'll be fruitful to our business in the long run.

If you are looking to grow your business through a network of professionals that know, like and trust you the consider joining BNI. This book is a primer of what t expect and how to be a successful member that will make you a master connector.

This book is a great starting point for any business professional who wants to harness the power of their network and become a Master Connector. It highlights the ways that the BNI system for networking and generating referrals works and shows readers how they can utilize the system to grow their business.
