Denica Wilder is a single mother whose made her fair share of mistakes. After wasting years in a meaningless relationship to end up with nothing, she’s determined to create a better life for herself and children. With so much on her plate, the last thing on her mind is her love life or lack thereof. Sabian Diamond is a reformed hustler who is determined on leaving his past just that—the past. At this point it’s impossible for Antionette to put out a book less than 5 stars as far as I’m concerned. I absolutely LOVED Sabian. He was BDE personified and has definitely been added to the book bae list. Nica aka juicy was a single mother of two and had a master manipulator for a baby daddy. He was only willing to provide for his children if Nica was giving up the goods. It was for this reason that she was on her independent woman ish. She never wanted anyone to be able to hold anything over her head. She crossed paths with Sabian in an unexpected way and rightfully so he gave her a hard time. Over time he was able to see that she was not the sum of her bad decision and she really was in her boss $hit. This story was not lacking in drama but it wasn’t over the top! I loved the supporting characters as well. They added a nice touch to the overall story. I really fell in love with Jude and would love to see him with a story of his own. Add this to your list for sure!

First impressions aren't always what they seem. Sabian and Denica had a rough start, but after actually getting to know her he realized there was so much more to her.
Denica, a single mother of 2, was grinding and trying to make her way out the hood. Despite her baby daddy being trash and her estranged relationship with her parents she was determined to live out her dreams. Karma was a b*"ch but it led to her meeting fine azz Sabian.
I had to warm up to Sabian because he gave me a judgemental energy that I wasn't quite feeling. In one breath he wanted to communicate, but in the next breath he was believing BS. That said I appreciated his boss energy and how he pursued and protected Nica and their kids.
Spoilers...I thought Jude would end up with Duchess idk they seemed to both have some ish to them. I would love to know more about him and Sayan.

After my last read by Ms. Sherell, I went into this book expecting dark heavy trauma-filled content. But that's not what I got. This was a mild mannered love story with a tasteful hint of drama.
When Danica and Fabian first met, it was not a good first impression. When they met the second time it still wasn't a good second impression. Because of the magnetic attraction, they could not stay away. Their journey to love was beautiful with a few bumps in the road.

Loved it! This was such a cute romance. Loved Sab and Nica together. I loved his relationship with his daughter and the way he and Essence co-parented. That was so refreshing to read. I love the way they flowed but their relationship built slowly and the earned one another’s love and respect. I do want more of the other folks too though lol. Great read!

Derica & Sabian These 2 just ugh soo freaking cute/ spicy!!!!! , I love how they both took care of their kids . & just how they originally met was wild but I was so intrigued to find out how it will play out and man did it have me locked in.
I want to know more about Jude, Jude , & JUDE Omg!!!
Yan is a fool… I love him and Bian relationship the brotherly love with a mix of Jude !

This was an even 3 for me. I was not a fan of the jumps in time. This was shorter than other books I’ve read by this author and it felt like parts of the storyline could have been stronger

I so loved this book!! I literally had to force myself to stop reading so that I could get some sleep. Lol.
Denica is pretty much done with love. Her focus is on raising her two kids, owning her own salon, and getting out the hood. That is until she met, “Mr. Fine” aka Sabian and he showed her something different. Sabian is a real man; he has swag, drive, his own business, and he isn’t afraid to show any and everyone that Nica is his!! Their relationship started kind of different but neither could front as if they didn’t want each other. This book has it all; romance, drama, steamy love scenes, and lovable characters! The author did a great job with this book and enjoyed all of it. The growth of Denica and seeing her stand up to her past and prepare for her future was nothing short of amazing. Very good read for me!!!

Excellent!! Finally some real folks!!!
Yaaaas!!! This was the story that did it for me! Like, I loved that Nica was on her grown woman glow-up!!! Although she almost got caught up with some foolishness, she rebounded very well indeed with Sabian. These two were hot just like an oven, if you get my drift 😉!! Loved it and only wanted keep reading more.. like, where the epilogue at?!!
Loved that this story was about some real black folks doing their own thing and trying to live their best lives!! Just what I needed for black history month!!

September 20, 2025Girl it’s a no they had wayyyyy to many scenes where they miscommunicated for me and then when she is trying to do better for her kids the friend come in telling her to get on a lick with her for some money which could potentially get her in trouble girl please the same nigga u fucking caught you being a get a way driver for your best friend boosting why continue to put urself in a situation where someone could take ur kids 🙄 I don’t care for them to be together and now she could potentially be a dumb bitch to be a get a way driver for a robbery u can actually keep it

4.5 ⭐️. I really enjoyed this. I like the enemies to lovers step up parent trope. I don’t see it often. Sabian’s first time seeing Nica was while she played a getaway driver for her booster bestfriend lol. I loved these two together but I needed more. Their relationship was still fairly new at the end of the book. Definitely less than a year. Their love was more practical than delusional like I’m use. BM/BD drama but there is character development which I love. I wonder if I’ll see this two again. I would recommend.

Nica had 2 kids with the baby daddy and how dare he try to make her have sex with him to do what he is supposed to do. Here comes Sab he came off rude but once you got to know him he was anything but. Im glad that sab restored her faith in love . Great read !!

This was a fascinating read. The author’s character development was very detailed and allowed the reader to get a glimpse of their struggles. The transition between the settings was smooth and did not leave any gaps to be filled in by readers. She was thorough in developing the plot and providing a great ending. Everyone desires love and we should never be done with it if it does not work the first time. I recommend this book.

I love this book! First, I would like to say even though Sabian was a reformed hustler, he was a real man that encouraged healthy relationships with your kids mother or father. I appreciated that as opposed to the ongoing baby mama drama in most storylines. I also loved that Nica was strong! She dealt with life’s challenges but she persevered with strength! The plot had the right amount of everything!!

Another great book wonderful characters 💯
If I could give this book twenty stars I would. I love both characters Danica and Sabian. This book was so well written there was such a natural flow to the characters. Hoping for more about the brother and best friend. Just a really good book great job Antoinette👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Sweet Love
Danica was like many of us growing up. We meet a fine man who we think is the end all be all and come to find out he s dust mite. Thank goodness for Sab, he didn't cut her any slack until he really got to know her. Dutchess almost got caught with Rell and I'm happy she didn't. Great read!!

This book was so sweet
It wasn’t over dramatic and that ending had me saying “Aww” ugh Sabian Is a dream man for sure. This is the second book I’ve read by this author now I’m on to the third. Definitely a 5 star read like I said don’t expect it to be full of hood drama, it’s more like realistic drama but it’s still a good book that’ll keep you interested throughout

Another awesome book
I started reading the family saga and got hooked. I love a good book I can see (if that makes sense). I have read since then about 4 more of her books. The way she writes draws you in and you just can’t put the book down. I look forward to reading anything written by Antoinette. This book was a stand alone and ended perfectly.

Great Love Story!
I enjoyed this story so much!!! The young single mother meets the tall dark and oh so handsome man unexpectedly. Their meet and greet was one for the books! This ride of baby mommas and over jealous baby daddies makes the reader intrigued to stay tuned for all the smoke and drama.

Refreshing read
Very sweet and realistic romance. These 2 did not meet under the best circumstances. Once sabian took his time and actually got to know Nica he fell hard and fast. They both had bd/bm drama but were able to get past it. They both loved the children and each other. I'm glad they got their happily ever after

Sab was the real deal. He didn’t play about his daughter nor did he tolerate disrespect. I’m glad Tahj got his act together despite having to ask around about Sab and the boys. I’m also glad Denica cleared things up with her dad. This was a great read and I can see myself potentially reading it again

Good first read
The first book I've read by this author and it was easily one of the Goodreads level 4 books. The story was fresh, the couple's likeable except the one messy one named Toya. Overall, I enjoyed getting to know each couple.

This was so good. Sabian is a book bae for sure! This was definitely different from the author’s author work but that didn’t take away from the quality of work. I was hooked on the story from the very beginning. I can’t wait to read what’s next.

This is my first time reading from this author, but I will definitely read more of her work. This was a very good book and so real life. I'm happy that Sabian didn't continue judging Nica from his first impression. They were good for each other.
