Crude and Icky

I just did not like this book at all. I have been a massive Jane Austen fanfiction aficionado for years, and I found this attempt just crude and somewhat disgusting. The entire premise feels implausible, and seeing the author work through it just gave me the “icks.” It's hard to imagine Elizabeth Bennet falling into any circumstance as the author describes, and the author’s view of Regency society seems juvenile. While I typically enjoy steamy Pride and Prejudice variations, this one left me cold. I cannot recommend this book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Good storyline- 4.5 Stars

Usually P&P variations that has Elizabeth refusing Darcy (more than once) along with doubting Darcy's character is a turn off for me because the storyline is usually too manufactured and Elizabeth thoughts are all over the place. That wasn't the case with this story, IMHO. I thought her views on Darcy was understandable and the storyline didn't feel forced. Well, Lady Catherine is a different thing altogether, but I liked it.

Another plus was Elizabeth decided to marry Darcy without love, BUT they agreed beforehand to communicate with each other and try to make it a real marriage. Things weren't perfect for the Darcys, but they were willing to try and work things out. By the way, this story centered on Darcy and Elizabeth's relationship. Secondary characters are Mrs. Reynolds and then Lady Catherine.

Although Lydia and Wickham was only mentioned in this story, my only nit pik is the author never explained why Wickham married Lydia. Mr. Darcy hadn't seen Elizabeth since Rosings' proposal and he didn't know they were married. So what incentive did Wickham have for marrying Lydia? That question kept popping up in my head whenever their names were mentioned.

I loved it! Mature audiences only. I liked this short sensual variation. Another steamy and very emotional read. It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. The story is well written with a very good storyline. You will see most beloved characters in a whole new way. I enjoyed seeing the plot unfold with familiar characters in somewhat different roles. This one was definitely way off the mark of the original classic. I was blushing throughout with this one. Due to flooding, Mr. Darcy stopped at an unfamiliar inn. By chance, he discovered a much diminished Elizabeth Bennet employed there. He takes her away from the inn and conveys her to Pemberley. Unbeknownst to him, she is shabbily treated by Mrs. Reynolds, who assumes she has been working at the inn as a doxy. Mr. Bennet has died and Mr. Collins has evicted the Bennets. Mrs. Bennet, Mary, and Kitty are living with Mr. and Mrs. Philips. Jane is living with the Gardeners as governess. Elizabeth has nowhere to go, but Mrs. Reynolds is determined that she shall not remain at Pemberley. It was hard to read this version of Mrs. Reynolds, when she is more classically known to be a kind hearted mother figure. Other than that, it was great. I highly recommend to everyone.

Feels authentic in dialogue to the original “Pride and Prejudice” story. A detailed depiction of the depth of Darcy’s love and sensual feelings for Elizabeth. Retains the feel and nuances of the original story with same characters under some different circumstances. If you’ve ever wondered what was really going through Darcy’s mind when he stared at the lovely Miss Bennett - you’ll enjoy this story! With angst, frustration, passion and misunderstandings. There are definitely times that I wished Elizabeth & Fitz were not members of polite society - there are a few troublemakers in their midst. Dealing with meddlesome relatives and housestaff, the newlyweds have their hands full. I enjoyed this spicy version that has realistic dialogue, drama, romance, old wives tales, a helpful circle of women, a few conniving individuals and issues for Darcy to handle. It may take him awhile but he does what needs to be done for the woman who owns his heart! Romantic, passionate entertainment.

Interesting but there were some rather large plot holes (e.g., Wickham and Lydia's marrying without any money from Darcy). Thankfully, it was easy to skim through the explicit scenes without missing anything important. The intrigues at Pemberley in the second half of the story were the best part. 2.5-stars rounded up. Read through KU.

A rather wonderful variation inspired by Jane Austen's class novel "Pride and Prejudice". Veers far off cannon and there are some rather naughty scenes but it's an enjoyable little story and a quick read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I had so much fun reading this variation. It was funny, steamy and well-written. For those who can't get enough of Pride and Prejudice, I highly recommend this read.

I am so excited to see more from this author and I would LOVE a story of Sanditon ;)

A delightful read

I loved this story and was pleased by how long it is. It is beautifully written but unfortunately spoiled by too many American terms: ie the fall instead of autumn. It is still worth five stars as it is such a good long read.

This was not great. Way too long, the pacing was off, and Lizzy came off as not very smart or realistic. The sex scenes were I guess fine.

The only thing that I found interesting was the Mrs Reynolds subplot.

An editor would have helped fix some of these issues.

This has the makings of nice story. I have to say that the wording could have been softened to make it a romantic, steamy tale. As it stands, some words have shock value and little else. Sadly, it worked against the author.

Wait what happened to the scandal? What happens when they go into society?
I liked the books but honestly i could do without Darcy’s “smirk”

Great book

Loved Darcy and Lizzy, glad they got rid of Caroline and Wickham early in the story. Good ending lady Catherine was evil!

Loved it.

It's steamy, hot, beautifully written, regency romance. Lookingre forward to reading more of the author's books. Also, a satisfying ending.
