Hmmm...I completely LOVE the show, but this book was not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be the craftspeople from the shop (whom I adore) talking about their tools of the trade and experiences with the items they worked on. Instead, it’s about some of the items that have been brought in to the shop and historical background of the original owners of them, and lots about the contemporary history of the time (there’s LOTS about the two World Wars in here) and then just a bit about the repair process itself.
If you’re a history buff, you’ll probably enjoy this. If you’re like me and love Will, Kirsten, Steve, Lucia (etc etc) and are hoping to hear a lot about them, you’ll likely be disappointed.
Lastly, just a shout out to Karen Farrington, the actual writer of the book, who doesn’t get proper credit for it on the cover (or spine) of the book (or here on GoodReads!) but only on the title page inside.
