Red Thunder: Lakota Warriors Book I

Rate this book
A hidden warrior....While gathering medicinal herbs in the forest, Winnie Foley stumbles quite literally, upon a wounded man. Not just any man, Wakíŋyaŋ Lúta, Red Thunder, is a warrior of the Oglala Lakota who are despised by the settlers. Not one to think like everyone else, Winnie saves Red Thunder. But Red Thunder is no stranger to Winnie — they once knew each other as children, and that friendship is quickly rekindled. Hidden in her family’s hayloft, Winnie must keep Red Thunder’s presence a secret while he heals, or her prejudiced father would surely kill him. A love spanning two cultures... Winnie and Red Thunder’s feelings for each other soon grow past friendship, and their relationship takes an intimate turn. Winnie must decide if she is strong enough to leave everything behind to be with the man she loves.Forbidden love isn’t the couple’s only problem — whoever tried to murder Red Thunder is still out there, and the reappearance of Red Thunder’s stolen horse may provide a clue as to who they are. (Please be advised, contains steamy scenes!)

Relatively good read. The two main characters are the ones actually telling their version of events. She is a farmer's daughter and he is an Indian. They first meet when they were children and form a friendship. He promises they will meet again but this does not happen until years later when she stumbles upon him injured in the forest. She manages to take him home and hides him in the family barn. She tends his wounds and keeps him safe. Their friendship from before quickly escalates to love but eventually her father discovers him and all hell breaks loose. She finds out her father was originally behind the Indians shooting so when the time comes she leaves her home and family and escapes with her now Indian lover. The story ending with to be continued. I just hope he does not die in the next story as per her nightmare.

Outstanding and To be continued!

This is one of those books you can't put down because it is a breathtaking experience. One just knows
that any moment a man in hiding will be discovered! How can he escape detection??
He must if he is to survive and yet each day becomes more perilous. The love of a sweet young maiden
must pull him to safety.A great read with more to come.

Good story but warning descriptions of sex

This was a good story with Native American history and romantic. I enjoyed the story but and would have given it a higher rating there was a lot of descriptions of sex. I love the part where red thunder stood up for Winnie. We need more men that will be strong and stand up for their mate today.

Enjoyable read but slightly one dimensional ! Plus did not realise it was to be continued and can't find next book !

Tale of love at it's simplest level ! Two young people call in love and for them that is all that matters not their different cultures not their families
