The post-apocalyptic world continues to provide dangerous enemies at every turn, as Lance and his ever-dwindling group negotiate a long and convoluted detour through the Colorado Rockies. On every pass and behind every boulder, danger lies in wait.
Mountain dwellers, intent on keeping their scant resources for themselves, are prepared to kill to do so, while some others are only concerned for the safety of their families.
As Lance, Joy and their growing group desperately seeks safe passage through the hostile terrain, they risks losing their dog Ringo, while internal strife also rears its head and imperils their progress.
Meanwhile, in the town of Weston, tensions are growing and it’s only a matter of time before it explodes, threatening to engulf the Raton Pass Militia and consume it, once and for all.
And still in the back of his mind, lurking in the shadows, is the danger posed by Ralph and his fanatical followers. Mac is hopeful he may have seen the last of that band of crazies but he is only too aware that they could reappear at any stage.
Meanwhile, at Saddle Ranch, Lance and Joys ultimate destination, the Colonel makes a surprise visit in the hope that he and the weapons he carries with him will tilt the odds in their favor. Their goal is almost within sight. Can Lance and his group make that last stage of their journey without further losses?

What an Awesome read. So much is happening with all of Our groups. Lance and his group are finally arriving home, with a tank.. Mike has been shot, but is with a couple of friends, Max is a medic from the military and he is tending to Mike. David and Mark were injured in a 4 wheeler/ bear attack. James and Jason continue to help the citizens of thier town and most everyone likes and Trust them. Now i am excited to read book 6.
It takes a little time to catch back up but well worth the wait. The introductory passages at the beginning of each sequel help a lot. I look forward to reading the whole book at one time when they are all available. The blessings and the losses make the story real and you will come to love the characters! Highly recommended!
I am enjoying this series even though I get a little stressed at times because i worry about the characters. A family oriented cast of characters is not the norm anymore so it's a welcome change
I am at the place in a very good book/series where you are so engaged you could be sitting on the edge of your seat. Such anticipation as to what comes next and what part is Bert going to play?
Okay, I’m saying the NEEDS TO BE EDITED comment again. The plot of this series is really good. Also, I didn’t realize the series wasn’t complete (that’s on me), so I can either wait for the next book (and pray it’s been edited better than all the latter books), or just throw up my hands and not know what will happen next. We shall see.
