Cherringham #39

Killer Track

Rate this book
Every year Lady Repton opens up her grand estate to host 'Cherringfest' - the Cotswold's favourite music festival. And this year will be special, featuring not just the return of the legendary and infamous metal rock band, Lizard...but also the home debut of the young and wildly successful new group, Unlost. But what should be a summer weekend of fantastic music, food and fun for all, turns frightening when murder is threatened, and one performer is nearly killed. Soon Jack and Sarah are in a race against time, trying to untangle a web of jealousy, egos and revenge before this Cherringfest ends in a deadly climax...

Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack.

Another home run at Cherringham

Love this book. Jack and Sarah try to find a killer. He's had 2 attempts so far...will he succeed this time? The characters are so great and relatable. I just have one question...when the heck are Sarah and Jack going to get together?

I use these Cherringham novellas, along with the very similar Mydworth and Bunburry novella series, as palate cleansers during or after some kinds of heavier reads. These little novellas are perfect for this purpose. “Killer Track” features Sarah and Jack, my favorite detective team of the three series mentioned here. “Killer Track” did a lot in a short amount of time and was unusually tightly crafted. I recommend all the Cherringham books highly because, thankfully, every book does not have to be a Booker, Nebula or Agatha contender. Some books can just be fun. This is one of them.

I love these little stories with Jack and Sarah solving crimes. This one was about a singing trio that were in danger, until they discovered the lead singer, Ryan, was the one in someone wanted dead.

There was no romance and no swearing to speak of.

As for the narration: Neil Dudgeon is very good but after 39 books you'd think, by now, he'd try a little harder to sound a little more feminine, since Sarah has sooo much to say in these stories.

Another good story line!

Love this entire series! And this was no disappointment. For once I did figure out the suspect before the reveal, but no less enjoyable for it. Looking forward to more.

I’m a sucker for these short little murder mysteries. (Spoiler alert…) Nobody actually gets killed in this book, but somebody (or bodies) sure TRY!! This is the only Cherringham story I have enjoyed, and it didn’t let me down. It stands well on its own. Time well spent.

Good as ever

Sarah and Jack doing what they do best! This time however, they really are up against the clock and heading for a very explosive ending.

Lukijana Neil Dudgeon.
Taattua Cherringham-laatua.

Exciting story of a rock concert

Crisply written with female-male duo and the adult son of the female. Includes a believable account of intense emotional reaction to the music.

A good book to listen too when you clean the house. It gives you ”Midsomer murders” wibes. It is fun to try to figure out how the guilty person is. Jack is a retired cop from US, Sarah is a singel mom and they solves crime together. This one was about a mystery.
