Some secrets are better left buried, but now that I know, my life will never be the same again.
With the bloodletting on the horizon and a meeting with the elders that goes horribly awry, the supernatural world is descending upon me like a hoard of hungry vampires—and each one of their leaders wants something from me in return for their fealty.
As my world unravels one secret at a time, it’s hard to know who to believe, or who to trust. The only thing I know is that I need to save my father, and I’ll go to any lengths to do just that.
Together, my mates and I fend off betrayals, enemies, shades, and the darkness that threatens to drag me under with each trip to the veil I make. One by one they claim me, tethering me to the mortal realm and strengthening my magick, making me a weapon aimed straight at the heart of the one who dares to cross us.
But my mates aren’t the only creatures with sharp fangs haunting the night, and as I navigate the twists and turns around every corner, I find it hard not to get bitten.
You see, there’s this saying, once bitten, twice shy, but whoever wrote that must not know me, because I’m no coward, and I’m not afraid.
Harper Wylde is a bestselling paranormal romance and urban fantasy author who lives in the countryside of Pennsylvania. As a wife and mother of three young children, she spends her days chasing after little ones and making notes all around her house about magical worlds, strong heroines, and the men who would do anything to protect them. When she’s not writing, she can often be found curled up with a good book, binge watching reruns of The Vampire Diaries, or gaming with her boys.
Honestly, I was blown away by this book! Definitely made up for how I felt about book 2. I am a mess of questions after finishing it tho! I don’t know how everything seems to have taken so many steps backwards but I loved every second of it. She has so many mates and has yet to bond with a single one! I’ve read a lot of reverse harems and this is super surprising to me. It is kind of cool tho, to see how much they truly care for one another and it isn’t just because of the bond. It’s basically gone at this point anyway! Don’t get me started on her relationships with her men! I fell for Dason hard in this read! Kota too! They really did make up for all of the distance they were keeping with her. I truly love the relationships they have with each other in this series. Lorn is one lucky girl! Was this book very focused on their sexual encounters? Yes. Yes it was, but it didn’t feel forced at all like it did in the 2nd book. I cannot wait to see how they end up fixing everything in this last book. I need their bonds back as much as they do! I really enjoyed how much emotion was felt in this one. They all went through a lot of challenges in this book and they continued to make it through together. I do also want to mention I hate Mara with every part of my being. I am dying to see how everything gets wrapped up in this last book. My only fear is that things will be rushed and not live up to my expectations. They are high. Loving the series so far and I would hate for it to end on a less-than-desirable foot. So many questions left and I’m itching to know it all. Guess that means I need to finish asap!
Wow, that book was INSANE! We see a lot happening in this installment that moves the plot forward in some really emotional ways and the steam in this one also goes up. I found my jaw dropping, fought tears, and was at the edge of my seat in anticipation. I'm still reeling from that rollercoaster journey and the slight cliffhanger that leaves you needing the next book. Definitely recommend this series and can't wait to see the journey the author will take us on!
I enjoyed book 3 so much more then the last book. Even though there was so much heart break in this book, it sets the tone for the true strength of the characters. I am looking forward to the next book.
Seriously, what did I just read? This series had so much promise, but this book seems to have taken a giant leap back to the very beginning. Wtf???
Lorn now has zero of the connections she needs as veil keeper, yet she’s still veil keeper... She has this mystery 7th guy who I can guess at, but he’s basically back burnered after she feels the connection because sharks are being jumped 🙄🙄🙄😫
I know that some authors want to try and break molds and write something that’s never been written before. That’s admirable, it truly is, it’s also fraught with challenges. In this case I feel as if the story has been abandoned for the sake of novelty. That’s not fair to either the characters or the readers. I’ll still read book four when it comes out simply because I have got to see how she attempts to make amends for this train wreck of a book. Rounded up 2.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
"“You’re a survivor, Lorn. The world keeps throwing more at you, and you keep taking it and handling it like a boss.” He kissed the crown of my head and then murmured, “No.” He shook his head, keeping me snug against his body. “Like an alpha,” he purred."
I really enjoyed this book! While I didn’t love the plot twist for the first half as much as the first two, I have trust in this author to guide us to the ending Lorn and her guys deserve.
I definitely did not expect what happened in this book to happen, but I understood why it played out the way it did and I’m half glad for it. I guess the part I didn’t love was that it felt like the whole veil part and finding out what’s going on took a pretty big backseat to everything else that happened.
The guys really did start to prove themselves more worthy though (mostly Dason and Kota who really needed to lol) so that was a huge plus. I really hope the mystery 7th mate comes back into play, i want him in there!!
The action and the relationship building is, as usual, written incredibly well. Kudos to this author for that! Now I’m just hoping for Mara to get a bloody end 😀
I’m super excited for book 4. I want more more more!
I am not sure what to think about this book. In a lot of ways I really love the overall storyline. Intrigue, betrayals and the villains. The male characters are wonderful. Lorn's character at times I really love her and other times I want to kick her. Overall I just want to see her true powers, fix her love life and kick ass, but so far its dragging out. The one quote that stood out to me as a lie was "contrary to the struggles of my past, I was stronger now than I’d ever been before". Not really true at all, she is weaker now than before and she had no moments were she is winning. So many issues that are not making sense and still no further along. I will read the 4th book because I truly want to read a kickass solve the problems, resolve the mating bonding, get her 7th mate and win the day lol. I would recommend this series if you don't mind a drawn out storyline.
DNF @ 69% and I actually feel bad about that. I really liked the premise of this series and I like the slow-build harems. The story seemed mostly well thought out and had promise. This author has definitely improved since the last series I've tried to read from them.
Unfortunately, I really -really- disliked the plot twist that set everything back. So much so that I just really can't continue. I feel like it was just another thing to distract from the story itself instead of adding to it. There is already so much that needs to be done for this story to wrap up that adding a complication really takes 10 steps back from the story's completion.
I also feel like this is one of those books where any development to the main plot point won't happen until the last chapter and I'm not here for that.
Better then the second book but still less than the first. More sex in this one, a few more plot holes opened and never closed, and progress (finally).
Downside, an entire 7th mate we have known about the entire book, lots of recycled dialogue, and the relationships aren’t evolving. The characters aren’t growing at all and the FL is now a trifecta of supernatural, the perfect combo of all the veiled races plus a gatekeeper. It’s a good twist but has been written, not poorly but not good either.
I think I know who the 7th is and who the “insider” master is. Will see. I don’t think this is only 4 books long, there must be more coming because there’s ALOT to wrap and just one more book available.
The cover shows her holding a book, and I was like finally she finds the stupid book! But nope. She finds a book during the last chapter!
Second! In the first book she mentions her eyes are similar to her father (adopted) and he has a brother! Like hello! Think woman! And why didn’t she find him and say “Hey the awful “mother” made a deal and had dad possessed so don’t trust him at the moment!”
Ugh. Really I’m kinda disappointed in the FMC and the development between her males.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Harper Wilde has done it again. I flew right through this book, once I started I couldn’t put it down.
Lorn can’t catch a break, bloodletting ceremony, she has to finish bonding all her mates or she could be lost to the darkness without her anchors, Her questions are finally getting answered only to have more pop up. So much stuff happens but I will not post spoilers!! Ahhh I cannot get enough of this series.
Geez! So this story just got more intense because the twists - they were unexpected and for every step forward Lorn took 3 back. That being said this book is all about the love and mates choosing each other despite the mate bond. All of her mates are now on board finally! I loved it and seeing the changes between Lorn and the guys. Really, really liking this series.
Tethered Magick continues Lorn’s story and sees her meeting with the elders, suffering betrayals and seeking out her mothers grimoire. This book ran me through an emotional ringer. A lot happened in this book, along with a massive twist in the story in which I really felt for the characters. The story itself progresses quickly and a lot happens in this book but I throughly enjoyed reading it.
This book was awesome!! I don't know how I'm gonna get thru the wait for the next book. Ugh!! This was, in my opinion, the best in the series so far. I cried, wanted to cut a b!/@$ or throw things, laughed, squirmed and bit my nails down to nothing. So freaking good!!!
This book had all the action the previous one eluded too! The betrayal caused an unexpected twist and the ramifications of that are still being dealt with, but it made for a great change in the relationship progression. I'm excited to see how this all resolves itself
This was a great addition to the series. Quite a few shockers happening. It could have used a little more action but overall an amazing read and I can't wait for the conclusion.
So much emotion and betrayal happen throughout the book it completely save you in, dropping your jaw during so many scenes that leaves you craving more. I hope the men ring lol her and m hope their answers happen soon
My heart absolutely broke for Lorn and her mates in this book. Absolutely amazing writing once again! I loved how the bonds came together in this book, even through all the hopelessness and heartache.
That cliffhanger ending, however I am not worried. I feel like the solution to it should be easy. Anyways, the author does a good job at keeping the suspense build and also with the romance.
Series review: These were exactly what I want from a paranormal reverse harem. Good heroine, enjoyable and distinguishable heroes, interesting world, engaging plot. I like a harem that builds along the way vs all at once, too. The ending felt slightly rushed but otherwise no real complaints.
I am so so angry. The storyline was great and then this "plot twist" happened and it just ruined everything and I haven't even finished it yet. So angry
It kills me it ended on a cliffhanger but I could not put the book down. Lorn keeps having to be stronger and I’m glad her males are coming around. Good writer
