In Pop-Ups by Clare London, Jack's high-powered life leaves no time for anything except a casual friendship-with-benefits with his neighbour and IT expert Henry. Just before Christmas, Jack is alone at home with just his volatile PC, and Henry apparently on his way to a Christmas holiday hideaway. And that's when, to Jack's horror, the pop-ups start appearing.
In A Good Thing by Julia Talbot, Dan hates the season since the accident that ruined his holiday three years ago. Meeting Chris on the street, full of holiday cheer, with the Santa hat, the hot chocolate, and the relentless good will toward his fellow man, may just change Dan’s mind.
In Season’s Greetings by Chrissy Munder, Russ, greeting cards writer and general playboy, is way behind on his big Easter Card project. Is it because ever since new guy Ian was hired, Russ spends all his time writing bad Valentine rhymes to Ian's best asset? Will someone prompt real seasonal romance, or will Russ forever be a man out of season?
In Oranges and Peppermints by B. A. Tortuga, Jeremiah has special plans for his lover for Christmas, but the Texan weather is against them. Jeremiah is determined to meet the train to bring Charles the happiest holiday possible, but when he isn't back where he belongs in good time, Charles fights the storm to bring him back. Can oranges and peppermints make the season bright for this frozen pair?
In Unto Us the Time has Come by Sean Michael, Kenn and Chris are struggling through a separation neither of them wants, but their pride dictates. To say nothing of the pain it’s causing their kids. Armed with the realization he should change and begin to repair their relationship, Chris takes steps to win his husband back. He just hopes he can get Kenn on the same page before Santa comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve.
Clare took the pen name London from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home, she juggles her writing with her other day job as an accountant. She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with award-winning novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic and sexy characters.
Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter 3 stage and plenty of other projects in mind . . . she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home.
All the details and free fiction are available at her website. Visit her today and say hello!
Clare also writes as Stella Shaw and launched a new series of rent boy romances in 2021.
A solid collection with a great range of story types. You'll definitely need a hanky for the last one. My favourite was Oranges and Peppermints (5*)
Pop Ups by Clare London
It takes some talent to write an engaging story with no interaction apart from pop ups and tons of introspection, but Clare London manages it with humour and still builds a connection between the MCs.
A Good Thing by Julia Talbot.
Hot and steamy, despite the snow. Epilogue (ch5) elevated this short from a hook up to HEA.
Seasons greetings by Chrissy Munder
A player finally gets caught by the new guy at work. Colleagues to friends to lovers. I'd have like more to have been made of the greeting card aspect.
Oranges and Peppermint by BA Tortuga
I found the first chapter really hard to read, structurally. So much so that I thought I would have to give up. Then in the second chapter everything fell into place. I connected with the rhythm of the language and the simple story being told: harsh times with hard men in an unforgiving landscape. And yet their love simply shines through. My favourite story of the bunch so far.
Unto Us the Time has Come by Sean Michael
A sobfest with a happy ending. I liked how the kids were written, believable and not obnoxious. A sweet reconciliation story.
All stories are great but my favorite is the last one, Unto Us the Time has Come by Sean Michael I love a second chance romance and this one is so sweet
This is a sweet collection of holiday themed romances. I particularly enjoyed the varying paths to holiday love 😉
In Pop-Ups, we meet Jack. He’s all business but technically challenged. His neighbor Henry is always coming to his rescue. They have a casual no-strings relationship, but as Jack’s holiday plan are cancelled due to a family emergency, Jack begins to have second thoughts. But as he’s thinking about what to do, the pop-ups on his computer start up, offering him perhaps a chance to change his plans? The set up is quite funny – any anyone who has dealt with IT and spam problems will relate. And Jack finally is recognizing what’s in front of him 🙂 I hope these guys have a fun Christmas break 😉
In A Good Thing, Dan has never really recovered from a bad Christmas 4 years before. There was an accident, a fire and a guy who walked away. But on Christmas eve, he meets Chris. And Chris is all about the Christmas cheer 😉 He convinces Dan to let him try to improve his holiday, and boy does he. Even though they got off to a not too hospitable start, Chris really does make everything brighter and more cheery 😉 It was good to see Dan finally recover from his bad Christmas.
In Season’s Greetings, Russ is having a devil of a time with the Easter campaign he’s working on. It’s Christmas time – in Florida! Not even any snow! And he’s got the distraction of Ian, his new co-worker who has him re-thinking his entire life. No hook-ups, no relationships, nothing. And his friend Mike is not helping! Thankfully Ian knows what he wants = he just has to get Russ to admit the same. Russ just needs a push in the right direction and Ian is just the guy to do it 😉 Loved these two.
In Oranges and Peppermints, Jeremiah and Charlie are living in the Texas wilderness in the late 19th century. After going into town to get supplies, Jeremiah gets lost in the snowstorm. Charlie can feel that he’s out there and when he comes up disaster, he’s afraid he’s lost the one person who means everything to him. He won’t let his bad leg stand in their way. This is a story of survival – of life and love.
In Unto Us the Time has Come, Chris and Kenn have been separated for a year. The kids aren’t happy and the dads are exhausted. But after a year apart and Chris hating how tired Kenn is and how he’s given up his art, he begins to realize that maybe he can make some changes that could benefit everyone. This is a truly beautiful story of figuring out what’s best for everyone.
If you’re looking for some lovely holiday themed short stories, pick up this collection. Recommended.
Each of the stories in this collection is cute, with a sense of humor and fun. You can read them one at a time or, like me, settle down, cozy up under a blanket and enjoy them all at once.
Pop-ups by Clare London Jack was psyching himself up to spending Christmas alone, while his thoughts went towards his next door Henry and their "casual" relationship. The reasons behind the pop-ups made my smile grow into an exciting grin at the same time as Jack's, and I found this short story cute and entertaining.
A Good Thing by Julia Talbot Dan didn't celebrate Christmas, mostly out of fear of something bad happening again. But, he wasn't opposed to bringing Chris into his home just for some sexy holiday cheer. Well, one night turned into more and, while Chris's body and warm heart didn't actually cure Dan's fears, the charming younger man did make him a believer in magic and love again. The author offered an epilogue for this one, which I really enjoyed.
Season's Greetings by Chrissy Munder Russ was adorable. Everyone around him excited for Christmas while he had to write Ester cards plus his huge crush on his coworker Ian certainly didn't help him get into the holiday spirit. He was so cute, a grumpy mess, completely smitten and at a loss as to how to make his interest known...until Ian had to take matters into his own hands. Delightful.
Oranges and Peppermints by B.A. Tortuga is an historical treat. Jeremiah and Charles were both stubborn men of their times, when feelings weren't often spoken about let alone aloud. But their love shone bright from their actions and their despair at losing each other, from small gestures of care and appreciation. They were precious and I loved them together.
Unto Us the Time has Come by Sean Michael This is a very sweet and heart-warming second chances story. Kenn and Chris have been separated for almost a year, although both still very much in love with each other. Christmas time brought forth the realization that family always should come first, and I enjoyed seeing Chris and Kenn see what their priorities were and do everything in their power to stay together... happily ever after with each other and their kids.
Stocking Stuffers has a bit of something that could appeal to every taste. Guaranteed to make you smile and bring warmth and the joy of Christmas into your lives.
Pop-ups by Clare London Terrific short holiday read. I loved the twist even though it was obvious to me long before it was to Jack.
A Good Thing by Julia Talbot 4 stars Between all the spicy moments there is a bit of a plot. I enjoyed watching Dan stand up to his ex and embrace all that is Chris. The last chapter rounded the whole thing off nicely.
Season's Greetings by Chrissy Munder 4 stars A lovely short holiday tale. Russ is more than a bit of a grinch but Ian's sweet face and nature have him wanting things that he never has before. I liked that Ian finally took a chance instead of waiting any longer for Russ.
Oranges and Peppermints by B. A. Tortuga 5 stars I loved this Christmas short story. Jeremiah and Charles just belonged together. Every action spoke of their love and commitment. Jeremiah's Christmas gift was sheer perfection.
Unto Us the Time Has Come by Sean Michael 5 stars I loved this Christmas short story. It was hard to read of the struggles of Kenn and Chris but it struck a chord. Chris has forgotten what is important in his determination to provide for his family. He's neglected his husband and fallen into the trap of 'being needed' at work. It's taken a year for him to see how empty it all is without the man and children he loves. Kenn was justified in his anger but his ultimatum brought about the demise of his marriage. The emotions and struggle were real. These two never stopped loving one another and that was the shining beacon for them to find their way back together. I liked that the children, while integral, didn't take over the story. This one will be on my Christmas reread list.
If you want to read some Christmas stories with just a touch of angst to keep your interest then these are for you. Clare London is always a favourite of mine so I couldn't resist trying these on for size when she is part of the quintet of authors contributing. If you’re having problems with your computer and nowhere to go for Christmas then her guys are for you but if you're a lover of more heat then turn to Julia Talbot’s, A Good Thing, first. I am a little confused about her snowboarder wearing board shorts in winter, however. Snowboarders usually wrap up warm. If you like a harsh winter in the days of the wild west then head to BA Tortuga's story, Oranges and Peppermints, which drops you into the cold, hard life of those days. It’s a simpler time when your love would battle though the winter storms to bring you two orange and some peppermints because they make Christmas special. If you wondered if writing the rhymes inside greetings cards was difficult try Chrissy Munder’s Season’s Greetings. Her Russ is trying to write Easter rhymes when it’s Christmas and his co-worker is distracting him. Sean Michael gets all the feels with a couple who called each other's bluff and nearly walked away from each other for good. How can you not love an artist Dad trying to bring his kids up after splitting from the love of his life? All five stories bring Christmas cheer to their sometimes reluctant characters so are a win for me.
This is a sweet, fun and entertaining collection of Christmas stories by some wonderful authors.
Pop-Ups by Claire London This is a sweet and fun story that is unique and interesting. I love how Henry gets Jack’s attention and invites him to spend Christmas with him.
A Good Thing by Julia Talbot This is a sweet, funny and super sexy story with great characters and I love how meeting Chris allows Dan to rediscover his love of Christmas.
Season’s Greetings by Chrissy Munder This is an interesting story with a fun storyline and intriguing characters. Russ and Ian are exactly what the other needs.
Oranges and Peppermints by B.A. Tortuga I love this incredibly sweet and delightful story with amazing characters and an enduring love. Jeremiah and Charles are everything to each other and nothing will get in the way of their love. Jeremiah’s determination to give Charles something special for Christmas is almost his undoing but together they can survive anything.
Unto Us the Time Has Come by Sean Michael A beautiful, sweet, emotional, well written story with amazing characters and a perfect ending. Kenn and Chris are perfect for each other and even though they are separated they still love each other deeply. They need to find a way to put their family back together and the magic of Christmas may be the push they need.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Overall I really enjoyed each story and thought they were cute and sweet. Oranges and Peppermints was my favorite of them all, but they all were really great reads.
Pop-Ups Cute story about a man realizing he already had everything he wanted right in front of him the entire time. It was easy to know what was going on right from the start, but it still was a sweet story. I liked Tom (Jack's brother) as some of the things he said were funny.
A Good Thing Cute short story. I liked how easy it was for the two men to communicate even if it wasn’t so nice in the beginning. I think the two men meshed really well together.
Season’s Greetings Sweet and Hot!!! Poor Russ pining over Ian, when all along Ian was wanting Russ. I thought this was a cute story.
Oranges and Peppermints Sweet romance. I would love to read more about this couple as I really enjoyed their story. There were a few moments that were emotional. I loved how much both men loved each other.
Unto Us the Time has Come This one was a little emotional at times. Both Kenn and Chris were trying to make their lives and family work without the other, but only to realize they need one another. I enjoyed the kids in this story as they were a huge part of the men’s lives.
Stocking Stuffers 2 is a fun collection of stories. Pop-Ups by Clare London has one of my favorite tropes - friends to lovers. After reading the author’s bio, I learned she and the star of the story Jack both work in accounting, which makes all the technical throwaways make sense. It put a smile on my face! A Good Thing by Julia Talbot is set in Colorado where I live, so that made it enjoyable for me. I loved how Dan proved he cared to Chris but I can’t say more without a spoiler. Season’s Greetings by Chrissy Munder is set in a boutique card company, which helped make the seasonal aspect of the story come through strongly. While my own experience with dating a coworker blew up in my face, the author makes it believable here. Oranges and Peppermints by B.A. Tortuga is a historical western which is not my favorite, but their knowledge of their state lends authenticity. It also made me appreciate my weekly bag of clementines even more! Unto Us the Time Has Come by Sean Michael is a sweet second-chance story with a very perceptive young boy thrown in for good measure. Most of these authors are among my favorites so the collection was a great holiday treat!
This is a sweet, fun and entertaining bundle of short Christmas stories. They all have a different premise, but all of them capture the romantic and hopeful feeling during the festive season that leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. I think there is something for everyone to enjoy, from friends-to-lovers, loveable grumps, and touching second chance romances. My favourite had to be A Good Thing by Julia Talbot - I just adored Chris's unwavering optimism about Christmas and how he slowly helped Dan find some of this cheer. I also found Unto Us the Time has Come by Sean Michael to be incredibly touching and emotional as Kenn and Chris reconnect after a year of separation neither wanted, and they get their family back stronger than ever. And then there is Clare London's Pop-Ups which was a uniquely hilarious friends-to-lovers story that left me with a huge smile on my face. Highly recommend this anthology!
Pop ups. Jack was blind to what was in front of him, but Henry was "endlessly patient " and it paid off big time for both. A good thing. This one made me laugh so much. The snark and banter with these two guys ( Chris and Dan) were so enjoyable that I'd love to be friends with them. Chris rewrites the holidays for Dan. Heartwarming!! Season's greetings. A little angsty, but lots of holiday spirit and love for Russ and Ian. Oranges and peppermints. This was a sweet old timey love story of perseverance and the strength of love. Unto us the time has come. Love rekindled. A sweet story of reuniting a family and compromises. Lots of holiday spirit.
Book 1 A very unique take and utterly enraptured me. I was hoping the outcome was going to happen and i was so pleased with the end result, a good Christmas mystery.
Book 2 Spicy and sweet. Embraces Christmas after fear of fire and twit of an ex. Magical quality to this story.
Book 3 Grinch like guy now likes Xmas due to guy he crushed on persuading him with amorous activities.
Book 4 A wild west type story set in the past 2 people fighting for their right to love, peculiar and wistful.
Book 5 An ultimatum gone wrong but both parties want each other. Two adorable kids help mend the rift between their daddies and they realise that communication is key to a happy life.
This was a wonderful follow up bundle of holiday reads to the first Stocking Stuffers. Five different and amazing authors bring you a variety of special and sparkling Christmas romance stories perfect for the holidays. There are office hijinks, grumpy men, cowboys, and family separated by a divorce, each story has a different theme that I enjoyed much like the first bundle. What a wonderful gem of holiday reads perfect for the season! These authors are amazing and wonderful :) I always look forward to their Stocking Stuffers.
All of these were new to me, except the Sean Michael one which I have loved for several years. These were all sweet half hour reads although with a couple I wished they could have been slightly longer - especially the one by Clare London, but they were all enjoyable.
These were such sweet little shorts to warm your heart during the holidays. And they are by authors I know and love dearly. I really appreciate when they do these. Being in retail I don’t have as much reading time but I still want my warm fuzzy feelings. Thank you to all of these authors. This was perfect.
What a delightful mix with this small collection. I laughed, cried and couldn’t put the book down. I enjoyed the characters and the stories and it’s difficult to choose a favourite from them.
Liked Julia's. BA's was well told. Skipped Chrissy's and Clare's ...to be fair, I'm in a read-only BA and Julia phase. Sean Michael's, even with the divorce thing, was lovely.
