The story is advertised as litRPG but it’s very light on any sort of game mechanics excluding leveling up. The characters are a bit bland, with no background save Mateo, and that’s not much. We’ve experienced this plot many times before; people pulled into an other-worldly game for some odd or unknown reason. This time it’s for the mythological god's enjoyment. Our MC Mateo has been playing the RL Axis Mundi game for some time and is quite the expert. This gives him an advantage when he awakens in the virtual world game. From that point, he must gather other players under his banner to fight the bad guys' clan. It’s an endearing story but it needs some zest. Three.point.five for potential. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Game gone bad

Godlike had another game to conquer. After the first chapter it got better
I still didn't like the game references because I don't play.
Overall an ok story and a few twists to keep it interesting.

Light, fun adventure. Quick read. Characters not developed in detail. Does not take itself too seriously.

Never really felt like a LitRpg (as it was marketed) but an enjoyable enough book, although felt a little 'teen' to me.
