Eddie McCloskey #9

The Mesmerized

Rate this book
During the final act of an unprecedented performance, two dueling mentalists square off by putting volunteers under hypnosis. The audience is thrilled as the effects unfold, each more unbelievable than the last. The show is on its way to being the greatest of all time …

Until one of the dueling mentalists falls under the other’s spell and proceeds to shoot himself in the head.

Eddie McCloskey has consulted on all facets of the paranormal. But he and his partner, Stan, have never dealt with anything like this.

Was it suicide? Or was it murder-by-suicide?

As Eddie and his partner Stan dive deeper and deeper into the strange and very competitive world of mentalism, where nothing is as it seems, they uncover dark truths about the two performers. Were they partners? Were they rivals? Was someone else pulling their strings?

Now Eddie and Stan are caught in a dangerous game, where anybody and everybody could fall into a murderous trance.
Without even realizing it.

I write thrillers. I've studied the masters and hopefully I've learned a few things from them.

Ideas are never in short-supply. Time and talent (or lack thereof) are my only constraints.

My stories don't always fit neatly into categories, but that's what readers seem to like about them.

Eddie and Stan are hired to prove a mentalist did not force his rival to shoot himself live on stage. Good book as ever, but darker than previous books, both in Eddie's personal life and the case.

Twisted plot

This is Eddie and Stan’s most convoluted case yet. Spine tingling all the way to the end. Maybe there were some embedded suggestions for all of us.
