I married my best friend, the love of my life, we have two beautiful daughters, and I love serving my country. On my spare time, I love scribbling and making my words come to life. I love writing romance stories about couples that go through trials and come out stronger. Love is never easy, but it's worth all the hard work. 2.0 ⭐️ This book centers around college students, Ethan and Rayn. I rarely read books with MC’s in this age group, but I didn’t have a major problem with that. No, my problem lies with other aspects of the story. My major bone of contention involves Ethan in particular. He looks white, but his mother is Afro-Cuban and his father is white. No one knows Ethan is biracial, and he ain’t telling. This is called “passing,” which is abhorrent to me in these contemporary times. Further, Ethan and Rayn have been in a sexual relationship for two years, yet he has never divulged to her that he is not white. Rayn wants to keep the relationship hidden for fear of racially motivated reprisals against them by students on campus; also, her father would kill her for dating a white boy.

Here we go again—yet another one of those dang blasted secret baby tropes crop up; unfortunately, this theme seems to be more prevalent in IR books these days. Because of her pregnancy, Rayn was unable to go to medical school as planned and in the alternative, attended school to become a physician’s assistant. I admire her tenacity; however, who knows if Rayn ever goes back to school because in the epilogue, three years after she and Ethan are married, Rayn is pregnant with a girl.

I fell in love with three people in this book, namely Ethan’s parents because of their enduring love for each other and their love and support for Ethan. I truly admired the sacrifices his parents made for Ethan when they had so little. Alex, Ethan’s and Rayn’s four year-old son is intelligent, loving and sooo adorable. In my estimation, they are the most authentic people in this book.

All told, I struggled to come up with a rating for this book. I didn’t find the book to be compelling or particularly well-written because it is rife with glaring editing issues. Additionally, there is at least one thread involving Rayn’s hospital suspension that remains dangling. While I’ve enjoyed many of Ancelli’s books, I can’t give this a higher rating.

NB: This story has emotional components and disturbing aspects that may be triggers for some readers.

It all works out in the end

What started out as friends with benefits ended up as a full blown secret love affair and true love. Rayn and Ethan, two college students hid their love due to their ethnicities. Rayn's father, wouldn't accept his daughter's choice. They parted ways, but little did they know, they would meet again. Through trials, anger, betrayal, and secrets, love found a way.

A must read

This is my first rodeo with this author and I was impressed. Ancelli’s Hidden is a must read. It is a second chance romance. A lot of emotions were felt within this book, from fear, love, disappointment, regret and again love.
I am extremely happy that things worked out in the end for Ethan and Rayn.
This book is a definite must read

Communication, communication, communication

Rayn and Ethan may have saved missing five years of each other's lives if they just came clean with each other. Rayn was protecting Ethan from the treats she was receiving and Ethan was protecting Rayn and another person from the truth of who really attacked Colton, Ethan's roommate when they were in college. They hid their relationship because of the blowback Rayn was receiving being one of the few minorities in school. They did not want the hassle from any of the students. They only had a couple of weeks to graduate and Rayn was determined to keep Ethan safe by adhering to the threat by staying away from him. Everything came tumbling down when Ethan made a surprise statement during graduation, which set Rayn's family off.

Ancelli wrote a wonderfully well-plotted and heartbreaking coming-of-age story of two people from different backgrounds of social strata and ethnicity falling in love and trying to navigate the social order of their university without interference from Ethan's prejudiced roommates or any other students. In a way Rayn was right, Ethan had nothing to offer her at graduation. They both had to go that five years without each other so that they could accomplish what they both set out to do, so when they met again, they would be ready for their next stage of life together. Ethan was heartbroken at Rayn's rejection and threw himself into being the best at what he did.

Five years later did not quite work out well. Their ride back together was rocky will all kinds of interferences, from a blast from their past re-emerging and jealous and scheming people. But, they made it to their HEA. If you love someone, set it free, if they return, it was meant to be, Ethan and Rayn were meant to be. I loved this story. It had me expressing the whole gambit of emotions, from laughter to crying. This was a well-written story that I could not stop reading until it was finished.

I love Ancelli's books!

Ancelli never, ever disappoints me and this book satisfied me as a reader on many levels. I see a re-read of several books from her back catalog in my future. Seriously! If you want to read thought provoking stories, this is one of my go-to authors.

Highly Recommended: Read It!

If you're not interested in reading this story or prefer to read something else from her back catalog, I highly recommend:

Love Through the Pain
This story will tear you apart and put you back together. This is NOT an easy book to read and it will trigger some of you, so please be aware in advance by reading the book blurb. It's a thought provoking story that I've never forgotten and still resonates with me today.

Couldn’t Put It Down

This book was filled with so much love, pain, disappointment, and perseverance. A love story that transcended bigotry and misunderstandings. This was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time

Not at all an alpha male

This book is very bland. The leading man is the opposite of a alpha male and the leading lady is so forgettable. My first time reading from this author and most definitely my last. And spoiler alert the 5 year old child has conversations like he’s about 28.

This book was nice

I like the story yes it was sad but show how through the fire a new person can emerge from the chaos of life. Know it speed by fast but it still gave the reader what we needed to to take this Journey with the author. I can't wait for the next book. Now that i read this book i am going back to read the Christmas book now I know what I am looking for I can now understand why the places an people are so important with the couple. I will have a better understanding of their story. I hope to read the full story soon. Yes this story earn a five star rating. This author have shown she have grown with each book an is still expanding more with each new book. I call it nice because I know for me , I wanted Rayn to kick butt , I am glad she was an adult about a lot of the things that happen to her an not a "B" about them. Happy reading

Welcome back Ancelli! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤❤

Whew chile...before the holidays! This story....Lawd this story had me teary eyed so many times. How dare one of my favorite authors throw this book at my heartstrings?! This is why I missed her storytelling so much. This book was life! The ups and downs of denying your heritage because you want to fit in. The fear and angst being amongst those that view you through the eyes of hate. Extending your hand to help someone who see you through the eyes of hate. Losing love and finding love. Seeing someone you love and lost be reincarnated in your child. Ancelli..Ancelli..how I missed you! Welcome back and absolutely enjoyed this read 100%

Loved it, Aways love reading anything by Ancelli

I was wondering when you were going to give us another great story. I loved it, I wasn't able to figure it out like other stories. I like that it kept me on my toes. Ethan & Rayn was a fabulous love story, I was held captive from begin to end. Could there be a story for Colton, your never to old to learn or change. If there is I'll will certainly buy it. Thank you Ancelli for helping us through this craziness, Everyone be careful & stay safe.

Magnificent

This was a wonderful and heart felt book. The characters were well developed, strong and vulnerable, beautiful and likeable. The dynamic of great and all consuming love between family was beautiful and overwhelming. Racism is ever present and must be exposed and destroyed. It is always hurtful and innocent people always suffer. There are not dead and slow places in this book. Love is stronger than hate. The lovemaking is off the charts. Overall this was an awesome book and you will not be disappointed by selecting it.

Beautiful and emotional

That ending with Ethan's family was everything, had me in tears. This entire book was really beautiful. Ethan was just a sweetheart and I adored his parents so much. Although Rayne and her parents got on my nerves in the beginning I was happy to see the growth over the years and with that came forgiveness. I appreciated how it all came full circle with Colton having to face Rayne again and in such a way that he needed her once again and very clever writing making his sister Sommer.

All things in and of life are no longer hidden

100% the best and most intriguing book I’ve read by this author and all of her books are great! This book covers love, hatred, prejudice, compassion, life and loss. Ancelli does it with finesse and grace while she SPOILER ALERT: peels back the onion of prejudice due to the color of one’s skin to the love of meeting family for the first time, to saving the life of a newborn, by a Black surgeon and PA, to the person raised to be prejudiced thanking the Black PA for helping to save his niece. Wow, what a book!

Oh My Goodness

I loved this, Kudos to the author 👏👏👏👏. Ethan and Rayn beautiful love story. This story touch on racism, hatred, jealousy, the haves and the have nots. It ends with you never know who you will need. After everything Colton did to Ethan and Rayn he needed Rayn in the end. Treat people the way you would want to be treated no matter their race. We made not all look the same but we all bleed RED.

Finding Their Way Back

Didn’t care for Rayn’s family and their prejudices, similar to Colton’s racist views. Was confused about so many things, like Maverick’s role ,along with a mention of some secret background. Why mention it ,if there won’t be an explanation. Another confusing thing was Sommer’s reaction to Ryan…the constant threats that Rayn received. What was the purpose, and why did they stop.
Overall a good story line ,Alex was a riot,so cute.

Achingly beautiful...

Another rollercoaster of emotions here. Rayne and Ethan...wow😊 So much drama, hurt and pain, the roots of which are all in stupid racism. Its so sick and serves no purpose but to inflict harm in the most depraved ways possible. This couple was lucky to get a second chance..an absolute miracle. An attention grabbing relatable tale I finished in one go. Well done.👍

Great love story.

The struggles of the characters before they met again and the renewal of their love was well written. The struggles they had to conquer were well-written and very plausible.

Love conquers hate

Racism is a very controversial subject. Ancelli does a great job writing on such a difficult situation. Love is found between the pages of Hidden, and I am glad that I read it.

Not my favourite genre.

Very repetitive type of struggle love, they had a relationship for however, long and Ethan didn't reveal he was part black which I found strange.

The whole secret pregnancy is very overdone.

Loved both of the characters and their love story. This has just the right amount of intrigue to put a little angst in the story.

Okay.

Too drawn out and it would be more enjoyable if the story was told in the present...too much flashbacks of their lives.
