Brilliant read, was captivated the whole way through. Fiona went to the next level, more confident, stronger, determined, she is simply amazing. The growing bond between her and Gabriel is interested too, it was well written. Extra keen to start the next one soon.
I've loved books by Tarah but these are by far my favorite!! I'm so excited for book 3. Love the charactes and the story. Never thought I'd love reading about witches so much!
If you like vibes more than characters then this book is for you. The main character Fiona is boring and dumb. Apart from that everything is really good.
Not as exciting as Aether Witch, but the work still held its own. I'll laud its character development, especially of Fiona's and Gabriel's. The plot development is also headed in the right direction, demanding engagement from the get-go and refusing to let up even in the book's final scene. And yes, you will find yourself clamoring for Book III, just to forewarn you.
A couple of gripes I had are a few drawn-out informational scenes. Benner could've done a better job spoon-feeding them as opposed to dumping them all in a single scene. If you want to remember every little detail to make sense of this story, and you must, grab a notebook and jot down a few notes or screen capture these scenes.
Other than the information dumping in a few parts, it was a rather smooth read. It did get choppy at times, but not so much that it would confuse you if you pick up Demon Witch. I'm more than excited to dive into the next installment, whenever that may be.
Sometimes after I finish a book I think to myself, “Was this book even good?” and when I ask this question the answer is almost always no.
Did I care for the plot? No. Do I like the characters? Actually, a little bit, yes. Did I like the “romance” that also doesn’t really exist? No but I get the vibe, I guess. Is the supernatural world building good? Not really but also I guess it doesn’t really matter. Like, okay… you’re randomly telling me vampires are real too? Sure. It’s not like I can say you’re wrong! (This might of actually been mentioned in book 1 and I just don’t pay attention)
But guess what? This was free to listen to on Youtube and I’m a girl with lots of time to listen to books, like when I cook, do my makeup, drive, draw, and play games. And sometimes books like this feel like a CW show. Lowkey bad but also, wow… so entertaining.
I also think the writing itself was pretty good, especially the dialog, and the voice actor for the audiobook was pretty solid. Slay.

After a great opening book, Demon Witch started up right where Aether Witch left off. Mountain Shadow is morning losses of people and the coven is reeling from the betrayal. With the demons still abounding in town and the powerful witch still at large there is still a hunter in the midst. The relationships fleshed out a bit more in this novel but one new character perplexed me completely and frankly threw me off a bit. I hope there may be a reason later but haven’t seen it yet. A good second book and I will be continuing the saga.
I really enjoyed this book, it is actually even better than Book 1 so it has kept me engaged in the series and I look forward to reading Book 3 after THAT ending!
The characters are really nitty gritty - by which I mean, that they are not perfect, even far from perfect and that makes the story more relatable and enjoyable. I thought I was through with the paranormal, witches and demons genre, but it seems that I still cannot get enough!
The story line is well paced and I hope that the next book manages to match or exceed Book 2.
I really enjoyed the Aether Witch, and Demon Witch is the second book in the series. Demons are being released through a portal opened in a ritual originating with a witch in Fiona’s coven. This book investigates the world of demons and Fiona’s attempts to send them back to the Otherworld. The story is interesting and flows well. I did get tired of Fiona panicking and not using her witch powers especially to teleport when being mauled by a hellhound. I’m looking forward to the third book. Maybe Fiona will have honed her powers by then.
One never knows how a second book will compare with the first book but Tarah did not disappoint!! She has gotten us more invested.with these characters (who doesn't love a man in a nice Henley). We are rooting for Fiona to save the day while trying to figure out the brothers. I can't wait for book three. What a wonderful escape from everything going on in the world today. Thanks again Tarah!!
I loved the first book in this series so much that I was convinced this one would pale in comparison-- I was wrong. Witty writing with such well developed characters. The storyline had great flow with thoughtful direction. And lets be honest- Gabriel, Fiona, Bellamy, Smudge, etc.- I love them all! Now with the way this ended? I can't wait to read the next one!
I’m always a fan of Tarah’s writing. I loved the first book in the series and was looking forward to book 2. I enjoyed getting to see more of Gabriel in this book and hope to see more developments in book 3. Tarah always does an amazing job of showing instead of telling. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more about Fiona, Gabriel, and the rest of the Mountain Shadow crew.
Writing reviews on individual books in a series is really difficult. It's hard to come up with something new to say. What I can say is this, I've loving the previous books in the series and I'm definitely sticking around for what's to come.
I really love how this story is progressing, how the characters are interacting, it’s believable how their relationship shops are going, it isn’t just we hate each other, 5 seconds later, we’re besties. Can’t wait to read the third book! ❤️❤️❤️
The veil between the mortal world from the underworld has a tear and is leaking demons everywhere. Fiona is determined to repair that tear and stop in influ, of demons?
Another home run by Tarah Benner! This series has drawn me in and I can't wait to read what happens next for Fiona, Gabriel, and the rest of the crew in Mountain Shadow!
