Wes and Ellie were teenage sweethearts until he decided he was too young to settle down and that he wanted to roam around the country. Ellie didn’t wait for him, married had a child and got divorced. After more than a decade, both are back in their hometown during the holiday season. Ellie has moved back to be closer to family and is contemplating opening her own hair salon. Wes is only in town until he can pack up and repair his late grandmother’s house in order to sell it. Meeting Ellie again is unexpected and rather exhilarating at the same time. Neither has forgotten the other, but she still harbours some resentment from the way he left her, while he is regretful and becoming more aware that he never stopped loving her. Her young daughter isn’t a deterrent from wishing he could see more of Ellie. When Ellie needs someone to help her injured uncle with sleigh rides for tourists during the holiday season, Wes agrees to run the sleigh rides. Their attraction to each other leads them to seek each other out often, and they begin to dream of a future together. Yet, part of his dream also means they will be apart again. Can they find a way to fulfill their dream of a shared future?
The time Wes and Ellie have been apart gave them new maturity, convictions and clarity. Now they know what they want in life, but their goals are not necessarily compatible unless they can compromise or sacrifice, and put their relationship first before everything else. Ellie’s daughter is a scene stealer....adorable, charming and precocious. Will she get her Christmas wish for a Daddy?I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
