It all started one day in March of 2018. I was bored. There was nothing to watch on television. And the moment of silence prompted a memory. A flashback to a time I wrote movies in a notebook. Small scenes jotted down for no particular reason. Something compelled me to make a move. I jumped up and ran to my computer, anxious to tell a story of which I could see clearly. The scenes of my cleverly crafted idea so wildly vivid. A face. A name. And twisted plots that would rival any movie.
I began typing. The keystrokes were fervent. Soon one sentence gave way to twenty. One hundred words grew to seventeen thousand. And before I knew it, I had a short story. Proof that anything is possible. So, you might ask if I always wanted to be a writer? Was it somewhere in the back of my mind? No! It wasn’t. But I knew I was creative. And I knew I could tell a story. The rest is history. Now I can say I wrote a book that became a best seller. Downloaded for many book lovers to read and enjoy. And the journey is still fresh. There is so much more to write. I am just getting started!
I’m at 21% of this book and I swear on every page I’ve read it’s the same thing over and over except for the little chapter for Howard. We get it nobody likes Birdie in their small town because of who her mother is, and people only like her outside her town because they don’t know her. The story is not progressing at all so far and it’s super annoying. I’m trying to keep going because I like Birdie’s character, but if someone asked me what the book is about so far, right now the only thing I can say is nobody likes the main character because of her mother. I’m going to keep going a little more but if I gotta keep reading the same thing over and over I’m gonna call it a day and give up.
It wasn't horrible there just wasn't enough to really hold my interest. Some parts seemed repetitive.
There's alot of magic at play and Birdie, the main character, is supposed to be the most powerful but she never uses her power. The most she did is make beauty creams at the local fair. The girl was raped and she still didn't retaliate. Huge let down.
Some characters just disappear without any story. What happened to her friend? What did her grandmother and father do to get put in goats? The final twist was so gross and cringy, it was the deciding factor for a 2 star rating. There was a lot of cringe in this actually.
The family and the magic was actually pretty interesting. The spice and the rest of it was pretty cringy.
This was a really good story about life and love in the bayous of Louisiana. The relationships between mother and daughter, husband and wife, siblings and friends were all well thought out and developed nicely. The author did a great job with delving into the complicated relationships as they developed from love to jealousy and hurt to hate. There were a couple of punctuation and grammar errors as well as issues between there, their & there and with here and hear but those didn’t take away from the story too much. Overall, I definitely recommend.
This was a good and mysterious read. Love and obsession are two powerful emotions that you do not want mixed together. Even though it was quick I loved how Harlem and Birdie came together.
Holy twist and turns Batman. I was absolutely blown away. I did not expect so much chaos and drama. That damn demon person was a mission and Birdie was the endgame. OUTSTANDING ADVENTURE! Thank you!
This was a good read. There were some redundancy in it. Had a few slow moments but as you continued on, it got really good. I enjoyed some of the twist and turns. The ending was great too.
