Frank Brannon didn’t want to return to his old life as a ‘fixer’. But when Wiley Kingston stole his appaloosa, shot his old dog, and tried to kill him, he soon found he didn’t have a choice. After he killed Wiley, his father Ben sent men to kill Frank. They cornered him in the mountains; too bad for them.
Another sensational western masterpiece by one of my most favorite authors, and Mr. Winkle pulls no punches in his descriptive renditions of realistic old American western folklore adventures. Bannon goes about his reckless abandonment with every positive intention of ending the many injustices that confront him!
Certainly no problem awarding five stars to this outstanding series of unending excitement as, Bannon goes about his reckless abandonment with every fiber of his harden body. He pulls no punches in his determination to bring peace and stability to those responsible for their many misdeeds of unending terror! He, despite the setback of losing his wife and dog, does about his determination to recover his horse stolen by the son of the rancher of the area's largest operation! Despite the sets in his life, Bannon does not lose his focus but not without enduring several setbacks! The Author's successful selection of storylines maintains anyone's undivided attention from beginning to end of this compassionately motivated story of unending exciting and heartwarming entertaining accomplishments. Too, the character selections could not have been better portrayed as they continuously fulfilled their assignments with exceptionally descriptive renditions of unending excitement from beginning to end! Certainly recommend this compassionately entertaining revelation of realistically renditions of how I perceived our old American West was finally conquered as there isn't a slow down throughout the entire book! Even you non-western readers will definitely find yourselves completely mesmerized by Bannon, as he is a wild and wooly booger to be reckoned with! I have already purchased the next book in this compassionately outstanding portrayal of old western folklore adventures so I will take leave to begin Bannon's next series of unending excitement! Try the book as you will love it!!!😃
Frank Bannon is truly a man's man and he doesn't take Jack from anyone. A well written novel by an exceptional author. I was impressed from beginning to end. There were no bad stories throughout the entire book and I enjoyed each and every episode. Very detailed story.
Five stars! Yes! This is one of the most impressive stories I have had the opportunity to read and I am looking forward to another Frank Bannon episode already.
One of the best selections of storylines and characterizations I have had the opportunity to follow. I do not believe the Joe Pickett series can top this one. That, in itself, says a lot about this novel. I was practically mesmerized while following Mr. Bannon's dramatic episodes throughout the entire book.
There is enough mystery inserted to whet my interest throughout the story, as well. Too, the climax is somewhat outstanding, and that should increase your interest enough to read this outstanding masterpiece!
Most definitely recommend this book, as Mr. C. Wayne Winkle outdid himself with this story. I cannot state enough accolades about this particular story, but if anyone fails to read this book the loss is theirs!
Tuberculosis ran rampant in the country, both in the east and west. Doctors would tell their patients to seek a dry climate. There wasn't a cure yet, but there were physicians such as they were trying to find a cure or medicine that would slow it down. Frank Bannon's wife eventually died from "consumption or lung disease" as it was labeled, died a year after catching it. She probably had a chest cold which went unchecked until she became weak, lost of appetite and just a malaise feeling. Lots of action both mental and physically. Back shooters, bullies, fraud and whatever else went on. "The Fixer," was retired but came back with a passion to save himself and the life he and his wife Julia had attained, before her untimely death. This is another man hunter to ride the river with if you want. He's honest and dangerous, and he gives you your monies worth and more. ..........Wonder when and what, where his next adventure will take him and his beautiful steadfast Appaloosa go. Oh yes, I wonder why the Doctor wanted to buy his ranch...strange.
Just started this series and I am very pleased with how the story went. Frank Bannon is an older man whose wife dies of consumption. He used to be a “fixer” and Julia, his wife, changes his violent ways. However, his unique talents, senses and self-defensive skills keep him safe from all of his enemies. One spoiled rich rancher’s brat of a son covets his horse. He comes with a gang of friends and ties him up so he can beat him to death and take his beautiful Appaloosa horse. This is where it begins but there is so much more before it ends. The author has a surprise at the end—no surprise there.
A man know as a Fixer has quit his past occupation but when he is pushed too far, he shows that he still has the skills to defend himself and his property. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and highly recommend this author.
This story is a total ripoff of the movie John Wick, except it is set in 19th century. An Appaloosa Mustang is stolen, instead of a Ford Mustang. Rest is pretty much the same. It is well written though.
Sometimes very sad, sometimes seeing the hero triumphant. The author kept coming up with surprises for the hero, clear up to the end. I kept hoping he would find another dog so he wouldn’t be so alone. A story worth reading.
A slow start but once it gets going. This a rip roaring read. The first of the Frank Bannon series and my second read in the series. I will keep and read the rest.
Oh, what a great book. I am going to read more of this author's books for sure. I have liked this kind of book since I was 10 years old - I am now 88. What a find and I mean author and book
This is an excellent read that mr. Winkle has written. Keeps you guessing through the story. Would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a great western.
Good read. I liked this book because they used words that they would say back in the older days and the fighting wasn’t far fetched like some westerns.
My first Winkle read...was not disappointed...thoroughly engaged and entertained...Will both recommend and read again. I love it when good triumphs over evil.
Very interesting story and characters. Sad how greed pollutes. Separates friends, family, and fair weather friends. Recommended for anyone who likes justice, westerns, gun play, and multiple story lines.
This story is a standard story, told many times by different authors. For the most part, I found Winkle's style comfortable and enjoyable with one glaring exception, he desperately needs an editor. Forgiving some typos in a story, especially when priced at Amazon's price for stories one can read on a plane ride, it was distracting and disappointing to have the main character named "Bannon" in the title but called "Brannon" throughout the story. Please, make it one or the other.
Oops!!! Mea Culpa. What I thought was an author error is actually an Amazon error compounded by a non-vigilant reader (me). Amazon is the one who put out the "Bannon" name for the books, not the author. He seems to be consistent with the "Brannon" moniker throughout.
This was an excellent story that keeps your interest and attention from start to finish. The story is filled with action and adventure and intrigue. You are going to pay attention or get lost in this one.
