Logan is a loud-mouthed little sophomore, the "star" of a college radio morning show, where he spouts his opinion to the entire university community. One of his favorite themes is the scorn he holds for student athletes, especially football players. Jocks are entitled jerks, he says, and they don't deserve all the respect and special treatment they get from the rest of the university. His opinions make him no friends on campus, but who needs friends when you have a promising career in broadcasting ahead of you?

Then a mailroom mix-up throws him in the path of Caleb, the stoic, alpha-male quarterback of the football team. Caleb has heard Logan's show; the whole football team listens to it during their morning workouts, getting more and more pumped with rage against the little man with the big mouth on the radio. But not Caleb. Caleb sees something in Logan, something Logan has trouble seeing himself. Caleb sees a man who, with a little training, might put his mouth to better use than ranting into a microphone.

Submitting to Caleb's psychological training, Logan willingly becomes a pawn in the quarterback's sexually charged games. Hanging out with Caleb and submitting to him and his jock friends is the first time that Logan has ever felt a sense of meaning in his life, a sense of pleasure. But submission is a dangerous game, and you don't just hit the showers afterwards and throw your pads in a locker when you're done. It's a game that never ends, a game you never win, and Logan's not sure how to reconcile the part of him that wants to play, and the part of him that wants to run away.

What.Is.This?

To be honest…I’m not entirely sure, but I am all in. Fucking all the way in!

Logan has a big mouth. He even has his own radio show on campus to show off his ranting and raving skills. The huffing and puffing is mostly about jocks. Listeners tune in as Logan gets worked up about how stupid jocks are or how much money is funneled into the teams on campus, and more. Needless to say, Logan does not have many friends in the athletic department. Or anywhere else for that matter. That is until a package mix-up in the mailroom brings the star quarterback, Caleb, into his life. Let the head-fucking begin…

“It’s always more fun to play with someone else.”

The slow buildup and prep here is mesmerizing. I loved how Logan and Caleb’s time together shifted with each new truth, training, and flicker of smile. It was tense. Oh, so deliciously tense. Is Caleb out to hurt and humiliate Logan? Or is he there to help Logan discover and accept his wants and needs? Can it be both? This sexually charged back and forth is addictive. A slow suck and slide that changes tempo when the fear and confusion gets to be too much. I couldn’t stop reading and watching these two in action. I was always searching for the next move or hint of past plays. Every tap on Caleb’s door, chess move, and click ratcheted up the heat and horniness. But there’s a lot going on under the surface too. You’ll feel this one for sure. What you feel might even surprise you.

This read is not for everyone. There are words and triggers here that will turn some off. But for me, this story was a filthy, ready-to-blow MIND FUCK. And I’m going back for more.

I could deal with being gay or bi or straight or asexual, but I wasn't sure I knew what the hell you called someone who imagined getting gangbanged by a football team.

An erotic journey of self-discovery, kink awakening and lots and lots of sweaty jocks.

Is it weird to find an erotica almost..poetic?
Thomas Carver definitely has a way with words, pulling me into this almost fantasy world of alpha male jocks and cock-sucking training, interlaced with philosophical moments, keeping me wanting more of this not-quite romance.

What was I but Caleb's dog, doing tricks for the treat of his clicker?

While I did find the degradation and the frequent use of the f-slur a bit off-putting, I strangely enjoyed the training, the praise, the pleasure that would fill Logan whenever he would hear the click. The freedom Logan seems to experience, putting himself in Caleb’s hands, letting himself be used.

“I get off on making men do what they want to do, whatever that is. You want to get on your knees and get some dick stuffed down your throat. Other guys want to do the stuffing. I'm just the director."
"You have," I said, "an interesting life philosophy."

So while I didn’t fully enjoy these specific kinks, I’m still sucked in and am definitely curious to see more of Logan’s journey.

"But who the fuck wants to be normal?"

Tropes and NSFW info (spoilers):
- Nerd vs jock
- Use of homophobic slur
- Sexuality/kink discovery
- Sort of D/s dynamic
- Sharing
- Orgasm control
- Toys (plugs & dildos)
- Throat training
- Bullying
- Dub-con
- Degradation & humiliation kink
- Service kink?
- Coming untouched
- CNC & gangbang fantasies

This was a surprise. I was expecting garden-variety kinky friction fiction.
Oh, it's hot alright, but it's also a very thoughtful description of the psychology of submission. Both the protagonists are jerks on one level, and endearing on another.
It also works on the fantasy level: someone (a sex god, naturally) sees your hidden kinky self and coaxes you into expressing it. I'm hooked, and delighted to see how much Carver has written.

Although there are a few echoes of Jayden's Education in this book, Carver takes the D/s roles in a slightly different direction. Logan isn't much of a sub except when it comes to sex, and seeing him learn that his mouth will get him in nothing but trouble, trouble he initially resists but eventually comes to yearn for, is yet another journey in Carver-land. Feelings of self-disgust, then subdued acceptance, then outright ownership - Logan goes through each of these under the tutelage of the football team's quarterback, Caleb.

Caleb isn't your typical dumb jock and it becomes clear quickly that Logan is no match for Caleb in the smarts department. Yet Caleb, for all of his bravado, has secrets of his own, which get alluded to but never revealed.

Carver rounds out the book with a decent cast of heteroflexible jocks, giving each a unique personality and motive for their interactions with Logan. Although there are some dark undercurrents with this book, at this point they're not too far out of hand. But Carver is setting things up for a bad time for Logan in the next few books.

A few typos and the usual inconsistency errors keep this at a four, because I kinda want to bump it up to a five. If you've read Carver before, know that this book is just another examination of the usual Carver tropes: humiliation, forced chastity, degradation. It's not really 'new' but most books in this genre follow some type of similar patterns. My opinion is that Carver can take a new approach to an old idea and weave a gripping tale that keeps me hooked in. That's what this book did for me. Looking forward to the next one.

Loud Mouth (Jocks are Jerks Book 1)

I’m lost for words. It wasn’t what I expected at all.

Logan a student works at the College Radio station, he is forever mouthing off about Jocks, whether they’re players of Football, Lacrosse, Wrestlers, etc. he doesn’t hold them in high esteem, intellectually. So he makes enemies.

Following a mix up over the the wrong parcels being delivered to the wrong room number in the Dorm House, Logan comes face to face with Caleb, the Captain of the Football Team.

Because Logan is confused about his sexual orientation, he ordered some sex toys to try and see if they would help him sort this out. They were delivered to Caleb’s room by mistake and he came to Logan’s room to return them.

Caleb is a huge guy, he’s the Team Quarterback, Logan is a slight, short guy. He’s overwhelmed when Caleb actually steps into his room.

Logan is drawn to Caleb and they start playing Chess In Caleb’s room. During conversations Logan tells him why he ordered the sex toys and what he is trying to discover about himself. Caleb offers to help and they reach an agreement.

Caleb, it turns out, is not the “dumb” jock that Logan thinks, so it takes him a long while to figure out what Caleb’s Major is.

Is it too late?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I could not connect enough with either Logan or Caleb to like what was happening. I wanted to stop but I kept hoping that Logan would develop some self respect and call a halt to the agreement. That is why I continued to the end.
One star is probably very mean, however, it is indicative of my enjoyment of the story.
I enjoyed this - the main thing I was going to criticise was story and character development – but it's only book 1 of 6 (I didn't know until I reached 90 per cent and checked the future blurbs): so there's more of both of those and you can lean back and enjoy this book of "Porn What Plot"
- Logan is a great character
- and Caleb is a character I can't wait to get to know more
All in all great premise and Logan is a great narrator and everything that made me go "Huh" in Bullying Teacher by Sadie Sins was done so well here instead.
It's slow and steady. The fact of not being able to blow or take someone immediately but having to practice is seen so little and I was wholeheartedly there for the practice!
NSFW infos:
- one guy who was unsure about his sexuality learns that he gets turned on by being degraded, humiliated and feeling used submissively
- Caleb is a dom but most sexual encounters in book take place with Caleb as the puppeteer and other guys being "serviced"
This one's hard to rate because it just wasn't my kink. I'm not into degradation, but I do like D/s, so I kept reading, hoping it'd go more in the direction of what I enjoy, but it never got there.
I have not come across a MC that I disliked as much as I did Logan— I was actually rooting for the jocks and any depravity they dished out🙂‍↕️ But even with my dislike (as of now) for the MC, I’m sat! It’s well written (sans some grammatical errors), leans into power dynamics, and it’s raunchy (using a forest as a simile for ass hair was crazy work😮‍💨)
I just hope ‘spit play’ isn’t going to be a common denominator going forward🥴
Jesus f-king Christ
I had not idea how I was going to rate this book before I got to the end.
First, the writing is fecking professional, so kudos to the author and editing team.
Second, gawd this was a hard f-ck. I don’t have many triggers but this one has the f-homophobic slur in it so many times it honestly thought I would dnf. I had to turn off my brain for that. Once I got through that, we’ll, I figured out I was reading a coming of age story and that I’d read the same philosophy-fueled coming of age story in less erotic books and I liked getting it this way…sex makes everything better even when it’s degrading af (as long as it’s consensual).
So do I recommend? Yes, but this book ain’t for the weak.
It's a toss up
I will say there are some seriously hot parts in this but I did have a couple issues. The first being it seems the book wasn't edited because there are spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book. The second being the word Logan is called throughout the book. How Caleb tells him that's what he is and how he speaks to him in front of his friends. It just rubbed me wrong the whole book.
Well written exploration of kink & sexuality
Somehow Thomas Carver makes sweaty jock balls sound appealing
I liked the slow progress of Logan’s “training”. Caleb is an intriguing character - he’s a stoic man with BDE and he calls all the shots. I’d probably let him boss me around too
Trainwreck or maybe a car accident.
I’m not actually sure I even liked this. Immediately after finishing it I can’t decide. It was like a trainwreck or car accident that I couldn’t look away or stop reading. Even now I think I HAVE to read the second book to know what happens next.
The book is really well written, I can’t recall even catching a spelling or grammar error. The characters either likable or interesting. The storyline was attention catching and held it through the whole book. Spicy scenes, I would say a 4/5 stars. Would have been 5 stars but some of the scenes needed a little more description on body positioning and set up.
Intriguing
I must admit that I didn't really think much when I read the title and description. I am not only pleased that I took the chance and time out to read this book. The story line was extremely interesting and relatable. The characters were realistic and raw. I really love the self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-acceptance theme. Showing the difficulties that people face in their journey of introspection. All in all I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
I’ve read a fair share of taboo, and dark and sometimes even shit that has been slightly disgusting to read. This was the most disgusting thing I have ever read. It showed that this was written by a man.
I love dark books, and I mean really dark, even bully romances sometimes. But this was homophobic, had absolutely no plot. Nothing happened except degrading shit to the Mc, no romance in sight, no angst nothing but disgusting “Alpha” men who liked to call a guy fag and faggot and use him how they like.
I can’t even describe how many things there where wrong with this book
Extremely hot story between an outspoken and snarky guy that likes to make fun of jocks for the sake of it and the charismatic and aloof captain of the football team that wants to put him back in his place.
It's one of the rare time were I really liked he dominant/submissive dynamic in the "relationship" of the main couple. The fact that Logan is far from being meek (more like overconfident for no reasons aha) really contributed to my overall enjoyment. A good erotica nonetheless. There is other books that I'll need to check in the future.
I think I liked this even more than Lucky Chance, which I liked a lot. I didn't like Logan as a character, but it kinda worked out better because I didn't feel that protective of him as he was being degraded by these jocks. Also, he goes through a really nice arc. I tend to get bored reading series that feature just one couple, but since there are other characters involved, maybe this will be different? I might come back to this series....
Cerebral Games From A Jock?
Logan is certain about a lot of things: jocks and mail service student workers are dumb, the producer of his twice a week college radio show is kinda boring, and Philosophy class is easy. Then Caleb, the popular jock, begins pulling some strings and that certainty starts unraveling. Excellent story with ambiguous situations.
Mostly weird- not what I expected at all. Some scenes (also the tension) at the beginning were good but it was just way too weird at the end- I basically skimmed it after 50% or 60%? Through. (Idr really) But yeah- the dreams were hot and the chess games at the beginning too but thats abt it. It was just way too much after halfway through which made me lose interest.
This was surprisingly well written for what it was. The story itself was a journey of self discovery for our mc and that made it a very interesting and spicy read. I do wish that Caleb would have shown a bit more emotion but there is obviously something there that will be explored in the later books.
Book is interestingly weird I don’t know if it’s a romance erotica book or just straight erotica. But overall it’s hot and doesn’t get straight to the point it seems to drag on your lust and your just begging for more.
A college loud mouth learns his place
A fun romp telling the story of a young college sophomore taking on some serious training by the top dog on the football team. Not for the faint of heart, but it’s ultimately a feel good story about dominants vs submissives.
I'm a bit out of my depth here, so bear with me.
This is sort of a BDSM fantasy, with really only lots of D, and not much of the other letters. That said, the book is extraordinarily sexy. When the narrator isn’t doing somebody, he’s nearly always thinking about it. I found this well-written and surprisingly compelling, considering I prefer sex that’s a more romantic and fun than what these boys get up to.
Lighter on the degradation than other TC books, I enjoyed this and Caleb's clicker quite a bit. Logan is somewhat of an unlikable character and at no point did I feel bad for him nor did I feel as if he was coerced. Intrigued how this will continue for 5 more books.
Jesus Christ, I have never seen a mm protagonist so unlikable like Logan, he's prejudiced, condescending, ignorant, and severely lacking awareness about himself and how he affects people around him.
I'm gonna keep reading the next few books to see if this character develops into something else.
I'm a philosophy student. When Logan started talking about his Intro to Philosophy class, I was very offended. By the end, the book managed to touch on exactly why philosophy can be so appealing, all while making a healthy amount of fun of it, as is required. Loved it.
