Let It Snow

Rate this book
Amy Winstead is a twenty something video producer who loves Christmas more than anyone she’s ever known. This year, the holidays are gonna be a lot less happy because she can’t afford the plane ticket home to celebrate with her family, and her best and oldest friend Josh is moving halfway across the country for a new job that he couldn’t turn down. When Josh asks her to accompany him on his road trip from Texas to Connecticut and offers to pay for her plane ticket back home, how could Amy say no? He’s promised some fun surprises on the trip, and more time with him could never be a bad thing. One surprise Josh hasn’t planned on is the record-breaking blizzard heading their way. They decide to wait out the storm in the charming town of Holly Hill, where a little holiday magic and a lot of snow combine to help Josh and Amy realize that the something that’s always simmered between them could easily become something more...

My mind has already checked out of work and I’m counting down the days till Christmas break, so I’m filling the days leading up to it with all things cute and Christmas.

Even though I don’t celebrate it but that’s not the point. My mind and heart is in need of all things feel-good right now.

One of my favorite Christmas stories so far this December. Amy and Josh have been best friends since the day they were born. Josh is moving across the country for a new job opportunity, and Amy is just crushed wondering what she is going to do without him. Josh proposes they take a road trip together to his new home so she is able to see her Mother for Christmas. I love road trips stories, and the fact that they get stranded at a random town called Holly Hill because of a blizzard is just a bonus.

Ah the age-old cliche of best friends secretly loving each other! And of course, never saying a word because they don't want to ruin their friendship.

Besides that, Let it Snow is a very sweet story.
Although, I'm not sure there's really a guy like Josh out there. He was just...too perfect?

I did like the fact that Amy and Josh really knew each other so well. They have, after all, been friends for twenty-six years (as the author liked to keep reminding us).
Although, maybe there was too much telling than showing of the characters' personalities.

Overall, a sweet and simple story of best friends realising they were always meant to be something more.

Let it Snow was a feel good, heartwarming Christmas story. With a road trip, snow storm and a cute little town, this book was so enjoyable. If you're looking for a friend to lovers Christmas story, with a little bit of sexy mixed in, then take a look at adding this one to your tbr.
If I didn’t know any better, I could swear that Josh wants to kiss me. But I need to get foolish thoughts like that out of my head, so I turn back to my laptop.

Amy Winstead, aka Ames, and Josh Abbott had been inseparable for the last 26 years. They were the bestest of friends who grew up together, went to same college and even got their first jobs in the same town. But with Josh moving back home to New York and Ames staying in Texas, she was emotionally struggling. They'd never been apart. On top of that, she was head over heels in love with her best friend.
“You’re woven into the fabric of my life."

While Ames was unsure of where she wanted to go with her life, Josh seemed to know exactly what he wanted. When he surprised her with a road trip back home for the holidays, and a plane ticket to get her back to Texas, I was overjoyed. I love road trips! We got to see how strong their friendship was and how well they knew each other. I loved watching how affectionate and thoughtful they were to each other. And when they got stranded in a blizzard, things started to storm in the best of ways between the two of them.
“What do you need?” I ask, confused by the giant shift in the room, of this overwhelming sense of possibility in the moment.
He lifts his head, eyes half lidded.
“To kiss you,” he replies.

Let it Snow was a delightful book that was so easy to devour. And for those that love happily ever afters, that last chapter is for you. The story jumped ahead four years and I loved seeing how the future panned out. So with snow women building, snow ball fights and getting stranded in a hotel room with one bed, it was fun watching Ames and Josh's relationship develop. If you're a fan of friends to lovers, with Christmas sprinkled in the pages, then this book may be just for you!

Let It Snow is a cute Christmas novella about best friends finally giving into their feelings for one another during a road trip together over the holidays. ❄️

•Christmas romance
•childhood friends to lovers
•road trip romance
•snowed in at a motel w/ a single bed
•novella/83 pages

Amy and Josh have literally been best friends since they were born and been secretly pining for one another. When Josh takes a new job and is moving cross-country over the holidays he invites Amy along for the road trip. Along the way he has planned lots of cute little Christmas stops for his holiday-loving best friend; drinks and music at an igloo bar, Christmas tree shopping, snowman building, and a stop at a Christmas market. They end up getting snowed in at a motel at their last stop and spend a couple extra nights there together in a room w/ just 1 bed. This one was short & sweet and delivered exactly what you’d expect from a bestfriends-to-lovers holiday romance, plus the cover is so cute! ❄️

It was really good for the first half, but afterwards it started going way too fast. I got the feeling that the author got bored with it and decided to just end it as fast as possible.

this was hella cute, just felt hella rushed at some points. and i don't mean length wise -- cause i feel like it works perfectly as a novella. it's just that some parts just progressed so quickly you get whiplash.

like, okay so this is a friend-to-lovers story, right? and while it's cute to have that years-old familiarity affecting how they act with each other, you'd expect more of a build-up when they finally cross that line from platonic to romantic. and i didn't feel that, it just felt like one page we were in the female MCs head, sad about unreciprocated love and then the next, they're kissing. and i'm like ... slow down?

idk, it's one thing to know this is gonna be a HEA, it's a whole other thing to not feel any uncertainty. like, *I* know they're gonna end up together, but *they* don't! so make me feel like they might not, otherwise, they just look oblivious af lmao.

a thing that i did like -- that the MC wasn't in love with him since they were babies or whatever. or at least, only realised it for like 6 months. I feel like that makes it slightly more realistic idk. and the chemistry. THE CHEMISTRY. ugh.

but this was v v cute and honestly, perfect for this time of the year. what with the miserable weather, exams and just general 202 oshittiness.

This started off so strong! I love sweet friends to lovers romances like this one, plus it has the snowed in/there’s only one bed trope. But, for an 80 page novella, it took Josh and Amy waaaaaayyyyyy too long to confess/give into their feelings for one another. I started to get bored by the 50% mark, but I didn’t want to DNF bc of how good the set up was and it’s such a short novella. I could’ve used a bit more steam as well 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was such a sweet friends to lovers romance. I read it at 4am so idk if that’s why I cried a lot or it was just that touching but I absolutely loved this book. There’s a lot of chemistry and little steam but it is there!

Let it Snow is a quick friends to lovers romance that will leave you with a big smile at the end. I flew through this one. I absolutely loved Amy and Josh together. They had been best friends since literally birth. It was so fun to watch them finally give in and admit their feelings for each other. They had the cutest traditions. Their chemistry was off the charts. As an aside, I have to admit that I totally related with Amy and her fear of change. I hate change and have to slowly work my way up to dealing with it as well. If you are looking for a really cute holiday story with a sweet ending, then I highly recommend this one!

There's nothing like a case of sexual harassment that warrants our main man protagonist saving our main girl protagonist to set the mood, right? Right? I think I would've liked the story more if the execution of their sExY sCeNEs weren't immediately after Amy had a drunk man grab her and start harassing her. Truthfully, this novella was an alright read for what it is: a Christmas romance with Christmas tropes galore. And, hey, that's okay! Wasn't really my thing, and it felt too short to really feel any type of way for any of the characters beyond mild curiosity at how things play out.

best friends to lovers + forced proximity & the only one bed trope = a recipe for my love. This was ADORABLE and so cozy. Josh and Amy were so wholesome and cute. It got a little spicy as well (though not much). I'd definitely recommend this if you want something super quick to read that will make you smile.

Ahhh, this is my kind of melt-your-heart story! Amy Winstead loves Christmas but this year, she can’t afford to go home and be with her family. To make things even worse, her inseparable best friend since she was born, Josh Abbott, is moving back to the East Coast for a new job at double his current salary. Josh asks her to go with him on his road trip and he would buy her a plane ticket to return. So there was no reason to refuse, and it would give her a little longer to be with him. For the past year, she knows she totally loves him, but that’s her little secret. She had hopes he felt the same, but he has always been very affectionate and caring, so she figures she is reading too much into his touches. Telling him she is in love with him is probably the only thing powerful enough to crack the strong foundation of their friendship.

One thing that neither of them had expected was a record-breaking blizzard heading that traps them in the charming town of Holly Hill. The combination of holiday magic and tons of snow gives them time to discover what has always been between them and is ready to combust! Will they both open up and say how they feel now? Or will they struggle to keep their secret in the false belief that anything could break them apart?

This is a powerful combination for me too, since Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. And love like what these two have just melts me! Grab your copy and see if they can take the first major step to forever love – COMMUNICATION !!!

Review: This was such a fun, quick road trip novella. It was my first book by Cassie and I really enjoyed it. Amy and Josh have been best friends since they were tiny. They have done everything together and gone everywhere together, including moving to TX for school. When Josh accepts a job offer he can't refuse in NY, Amy goes on a road trip with him from TX to CT. Oh my gosh these two! Josh is the sweetest. I love when the couple has known each other for years and has secret feelings for one another. Both afraid the other doesn't feel the same way so they don't want to ruin the friendship. The things Josh does for Amy make my heart swoon! He is amazing and the perfect guy. I loved these two and how great they were together.

Super short, cute and christmassy!
My favourite romance trope is childhood friends to lovers and this is the exact definition of it, so of course I was going to enjoy this.
This is very short but basically every second of it is spent with the main characters being together on their road trip and stuck in a tiny town during a snow storm (yes there's only one bed). I love when we get this much time of the characters just spending time with each other in a romance, because it shows me that they work well together and makes me believe in their relationship. Amy and Josh having been best friends since birth also helps with that of course. They know each other about as well as is possible and it's really nice to see them helping each other and in this case mostly Josh helping Amy while she's struggling with figuring out what she wants amidst all these changes.
