The War to End All Wars just got personal. The World’s First Wizard was dragged into this fight kicking and screaming, but now that the dark conspiracies have dredged up specters of his past, Milo is determined to put them down once and for all. His power growing with the stakes, Milo faces foes, human and otherwise, with aims that threaten to reshape the world, and they’re willing to do it at the cost of millions of souls. Milo, hero or not, can’t stand by, and so with his deathless bodyguard and fey girlfriend, he plunges into the dark, swimming upstream all the way. But these waters are filled with hungry things, lurking just beneath the surface, things with long teeth and no fear of some paltry human sorcerer. Milo’s going to have his work cut out showing them why humanity is officially off the menu. Aaron was born to parents who taught him two very important things: truth matters and imagination is not a crime.

Our protagonist has spent the rest of his life trying to live out those two maxims, much to the chagrin of every unfortunate around him (progenitors included).

As such, by age six or seven, he was writing stories about a dark, reptilian avenger who brought final, painful justice to the guilty- with unsettling illustrations to boot. His beloved and benighted parents realized that budding sociopathy would simply not do, and so they began introducing him to tales of great and good heroes. First the account of a certain carpenter, then a hairy-footed burglar, then a savior lion, and after that point our protagonist was plunging face first and arms out into a world of heroism both real and imagined. While far from a hero himself, he has endeavored to try and capture that same bowed but unbroken spirit that dwells in a dark and ugly world, because that as far as he can tell is what makes it all worth while.

Along this rambling, dreaming way he managed to find a woman he could bamboozle into loving him, and then even have children with, Lord have mercy on them all.

Now Aaron has managed to cram no few exciting jobs and hair-raising experiences into his life so far, and God help him, he hopes for many more. It is these that drive his captured glimpses of something epic. If you have the time you should pull up a chair, grab a beer, light a pipe, or whatever your pre-literary consumption ritual may be and give them a look. It's been said they are truly monstrous, but as any true hero knows, monsters often guard treasure.

Honesty I didn't know what to expect at first , from an admittedly biased viewpoint ( I'm a proud English man ) I was uncertain about a German army person being a hero and a good and noble soul based in the world's most darkest time in the whole violent history of mankind's rise.

This book and indeed the two that preceded it were totally gripping and with name's not really thought about since the day's of my history classes in school or perhaps a documentary I only got to watch a little bit of before I had to change channels to something like Barney the dinosaur or Fifi and the flower tot kid's by whichever of my children were the most insistent at the time it brought a new awareness of how the Great war's to end all war's truly were a terrible terrible time and this book and the other two shined a new light on this for me how not even both side's faced terrible choices and heartbreaking tragedies where there were no good choices only bad one's which perhaps killed slightly less people than the other possibilities.
This is truly a great read with a loosely bound core of historical data and the dazzling imagination and creativity of people who are not shackled by the mundane hum drum of life where you are bound by the pressing day to day concerns. The characters are outstanding and I really enjoyed the way that they progressed to the final version shown in the last book, of Milo and how a child on the cusp of manhood changed from a tattooed gang thug who was filled with angst, rage and a deep seated feeling of disdain towards others to become a good ( good-ish ) and somewhat concentious man ( where there's no real good way forward only a few bad way's ), and Simon a disinterested and seemingly focused only on his job as a bodyguard to Milo without any real emotional ties of friendship and then the wonderful characters straight out of folklore and the darker fairytales and the way that seemingly evil in their very nature can become a better soul .
I have to apologise for my rambling thought's but as I write this it's 4.50 am as I just couldn't put the book down and wanted to finish it and knowing that if I didn't attempt to make a review I would move onto the next book in my ever growing list of books to read and probably never get back to actually writing a review so if you're reading this rambling shambles I'm really sorry because the book's deserve a properly written review that makes sense and does it proper justice.
So I will finish it with a simple recommendation for you.
1) Get this series of book's.
2) Approach it with an open mind and get rid if any silly preconceptions or bias.
3) Enjoy your wonderful journey and whatever else you do please PLEASE leave a proper review afterwards of which I am certain that you are able and also certain that it will be a very positive review.
Lastly my deepest thanks and respect for the whole team who worked on creating such a terrific tale for our enjoyment from Aaron D. Schneider and the incredibly awesome Michael Anderle to their beta reader's and the fan's who've provided feedback. It's all gelled together to make a great great read !!! Ad Aeternitatem

Milo's Story continues...

I hope there is a sequel to the War - World @ Peace - in this parallel lifeline to ours. Though frequently gory, the struggles Milo deals with are real, & his grasp of Love, friendships, & his disdain for authority is what makes this series so interesting to me. And the coat he wears is pretty cool too!

I will definitely read a sequel. I think this Author is flowing with ideas to make it fun to read. I look forward to seeing his name again.

Awesome Trilogy.

Thank you for an astounding read, Milo, Ambrose and Rihiyani, plus other characters are played like a Stradivarius in prose. Please Aaron, I for one would like to read more about them and hope you will write more.

Where is book 4?

I love the story twists and turns. There are so many weird and wonderful characters. I wish Mr Schneider keeps working on this series rather than starting a new one. Hear me out Mr Anderle, we need more Milo books!!!!

I loved this final book. of the trilogy!

Illness kept me from it, for far too long, in my mind, so I had to read the last chapter of the 2nd book, to keep things straight in my head (memory probs come with all the rest), but I got into the story quickly enough, & couldn't stop reading until I fell asleep mid-paragraph! Lol

I immediately picked up where I'd left off, the minute I woke, today, and was sad to finish this book, and this series, as it had kept me interested from start to finish.

I can't say that Milo was my idea of the 'perfect' hero - I learned, at an early age, to be bored with that type - but, despite being the World's first human Wizard, Milo's moral compass was too changeable to be considered either Perfect, OR a hero! Lol

But, in my view, this made him all the more interesting for that fact, which then kept me glued to the pages.

His relationship with, firstly, Ambrose, his half-Nephilim bodyguard, and with the Fey, Rihyani, was both complex, but very interesting, and I enjoyed reading how both characters reacted to Milo, and to each other.

Even though the Earth in this series was a slightly different one to ours, it was a close enough match, for me to find it super-familiar, albeit in a very War-torn way - but I guess watching what is unfolding in Gaza, right at this moment in time, brings enough of that kind of reality to me, to not want to experience it in any wayp!

I actually have most of Aaron's published works (as I have almost everything that Michael Anderle has written, too), and had read his Dwarvish Dirty Dozen series, with much glee - despite the realities of their warring, or fighting, in that, but I'm going on from here, to read another of my fave author's works: 'Kidnapping Phoenixes and Other Ways To Die', by Kat Lapatovich Healy, and Ramy Vance!

I love both of their individual Works, so look forward to reading this shared series, and so, I'll be starting off with Book One: '5 Rules For Fugitives.'

If these books are anything like their other ones, I'm in for a great read, I know! Lol

So, I'll just finish this review - "An awesome read!", and begin this new, for me, series.

At the rate that I normally read nowadays, I'm sure that I'll soon catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of this first book, soon!

Good final book of the three

This was an interesting take on both magic and ww2 type content. There was a lot of action, interesting characters and an interesting parallel world for the war background. If you like parallel world what if, magic, and action, you too may enjoy this book.
