The DDVN World story continues, largely told from Reagan's point of view, but including all major players.
Reagan's trip down to the underworld was never going to remain a mystery. And now Lucifer is actively looking for the woman and her vampire cohort that raised hell in his domaine.
When a band of demons come to the surface with a note asking after Lucifer's heir, the truth of Reagan's true lineage can no longer be hidden.
The problem is, the elves remember Lucifer's past heir, and how he nearly took down the Realm. This time, they do not intend to stand by while Lucifer finds his heir and raises her to power. This time, they'll cut the problem out at the root.
Reagan went from a nobody in NOLA, to the most wanted woman in all the worlds. It's time for her to own who and what she is. It's time for her to fight back.

It might have been over a year since the last DDVN World book was published, but it will seem like just yesterday for the fans of the series (of which I am). If the book is mostly from Reagan's point of view, it does not mean that the others (Penny and Charity) have no role to play, for the three will be united in a common goal.
And then mayhem ensues, which is all I will say about this book, which totally reads itself. Hilarious as always, action-packed to the brim, and leaving us awaiting the next book with bated breath.
World build: Was strongly established in book 1 and Breene has not waivered from her expertise in this area.
Storyline: Is the best of this series! That is quite the compliment because most of this series has been a 5 star read for me, but this one truly excels! Completely engrossed in the journey of Reagan coming out of hiding. I mean fully coming out. There is no more hiding what she can do or who she is. This is riveting!! Action packed! Humor throughout! All your favorite characters! Stunning ending!
FMC: Cat (Night Huntress Series) is my all time favorite FMC, however Reagan is gaining on her 😮 Absolutely one of the best if not the best FMC's written. Strong, smart, powerful, and has me in stiches with her sass and humor. I can not rave about her enough.
MC: Is typically Darius but this book is solely focused on Reagan with sexy sprinkling of Darius until about 65%.
Secondary Characters: OUTSTANDING!!!! I love Breene's ability to build ..... truly and completely build.....secondary characters. Each one I feel like I know and understand. There is so much love Breene puts into each and every character it is impossible not to love each one!
I don't know if you can tell from what I wrote ..... but.... y'all I loved this!!! Book 10 can not come out quick enough for this reader!!
I missed this world so much. I missed Raegan, and Penny, and all of the weird side characters. Revealed in Fire was perfect, the mash-up I was hoping for once all of the characters from her DDVN world finally came together!
The fates of Raegan/Darius, Charity, and Penny/Emery finally converge in this book. Raegan fights it, in her usual "blow sh*t up" style, Charity is coming into her own, though she does take more of a back seat in this one, and Penny is the perfect balance that seems to level everyone out. Their trip to the Realm this time was dangerous, but also filled with some really amazing laugh out loud moments.
There's a real twist at the end, and, for the sake of keeping this review as spoiler free as possible, I'm pretty sure there is a plot twist coming in book 10. I have a feeling I'm about to love one of the characters that I was expecting to hate the most. Honestly, I love when KF Breene surprises us like this, its absolutely amazing to have a happy surprise as a plot twist! This type of things so rarely happens in fantasy books.
With this contented sigh, I'll end my review. I absolutely love this world, and am so glad to be back in it!
It was incredible to be back in the DDVN world. Getting glimpses inside Reagan’s head, although totally scary at times, was like greeting an old friend. Although she has made appearances in both Penny and Charity’s books, the first-person perspective from Reagan brought the humor and sarcasm that only Reagan provides. It was also so satisfying to see all our other favorites interact together. I think every single character from the DDVN world played a role in this book, from Smokey and Mikey to Dizzy and Callie, not to mention the elusive Lord of the Underworld, whose perspective we finally get to see at the end. And speaking of endings…it’s a good thing the next in the series is coming out very soon! Although the small arc of this book is somewhat wrapped up, the hook at the end has us not so patiently waiting to follow Reagan’s next leg of her journey, especially since it is something we have been anticipating since the very first DDVN book. I did a re-read of all the prior books, and I’m so glad I did. I think it made the reading experience of this book so rich. But if you aren’t a re-reader, that’s okay, too. Queen Breene does a great job of reminding the reader of the major plot points of the prior books without being redundant. I can't wait for Mentored in Fire!
Wow, That Was An Excellent Return To This World.👿🔪💘🔥🙏💥 She's Back!!👀💘💃😂🔥💥 Revealed in Fire (Demon Days, Vampire Nights World Book #9)
It was such a pleasant feeling dropping back into Reagan, Penny & Charity's world. It was like meeting up with old friends, in your front room, with slouchie, comfy clothes on then watching a high octane action adventure film filled with love, laughs, scares & a few crazy characters you can't help but love.😍💥
Reagan has actually grown so much since book #1, she's still an @hole but she's one with love & friendship in her life now. She's also tempered her impatience, a little, for them.💞 Penny's swearing got stranger, I didn't think that was possible but there you go.😂 Charity is gradually growing into her new role as the Third. Fighting with Devon & his pack is even more beautifully fluid and natural to her.👍
Lucifer sends an invitation for his heir via Demons, he also asks the Elves what they know of her!😳 Reagan now has two huge targets on her back. Who will become her allies & who will be her enemies?? The Mages, Shifters, Vampire's, Demons & Fae have decisions to face, as do all the free supernaturals in the Brink & the Realm. A War IS coming, who's side will they pick?👀💥
Wow, this was such a brilliant read. Damn, that ending was such an unexpected killer. I feel like a Marlin stuck on Breene's hook!↪🐬 A masterpiece of the Queens work!🌟
I love this series, and it's so great to get back into Reagan's story for the endgame.
I don't want to get all spoilery, so all I'm going to say at this point was that it was a 4 star read, rather than 5, because I don't like the warrior far nor Charity and Devon, and they got way too much page time. Their books were my least favorite in the overall DDVN series, because they are just a horribly pathetic Pollyanna people, and I have no patience or interest in them. And Charity is a precious princess type heroine, which is my least favorite type.
Give me all the Reagan and Penny type heroines. Badass nutbar, or awkward and compassionate, I'm here for it. Precious princesses make me want to go play in traffic. The naivety gives me eyeroll-induced migraines.
But that's enough about that. The book was awesome. Reagan, Darius, Penny, Emery, Roger, and the rest of the secondary cast are amazing. The arch nemeses seers had me hurting myself with laughter, as did Reagan and Penny's interactions.
And the end broke my heart a bit for them. On pins and needles waiting for the next.
Lastly, a heads up for those who want it: the ending is a bit cliffhangery, but these 3 books are coming out in rapid succession, so you won't have to wait long. Or you can wait and start them all when the third comes out in a couple months (the second comes out this month).
She's back......and badder than ever! I've missed reading about Reagan's shenanigans! This is by far the best book in the entire DDVN series! Reagan's character development and growth has truly been inspiration. Not only is her badassery in top form but personality traits are better than ever! The whole gang is just sensational. And I'm loving Darius even more!
It's just so good to be back with Reagan and the crew. I'd almost forgotten how funny she is and how well they work together. It's also great to see Charity and Devon integrating into the group and really putting their own mark on things. Excellent book.
So no spoilers. But argh. This is mostly a placeholder book. A way to put pieces in a place and wait for battle. But Man, after waiting so long for it I was hoping for more….story. And less posturing. Plus, I did Not like swapping between perspectives. It always took time to figure out who was talking and where the story was going, just stick with Reagan, she is the most interesting one anyhow.
So. The rip roaring finale of this series caught me by surprise and as it turns out, probably a good thing. By the time I found it, this trilogy part of the series was complete. Honestly, this trilogy felt more like a single book than a trilogy, so I shall review it that way. The first book is laying the groundwork, the second book moves everything forward, and the third and final book finishes what began in the first book. Not one of these feels complete in and of itself and I am quite happy that I found them when I did - which was shortly after book 3 was released. So, I am treating this review as if the trilogy were one book.
I will admit, Reagan is not my favorite character in this series. Charity is. There is not enough Charity in this trilogy. In fact, it almost feels like why did we seriously waste 2 books of the series talking about Charity? Was it just filler?
Penny (and Emery) come shining through and the relationship between Penny and Reagan is priceless and relatable and believable. It was good to see her again.
Ultimately, to me, the story took far, FAR too long to conclude. And, Reagan spent too much time away from everyone else. To fill up the time there is tons and TONS of sex scenes, far more than either necessary or typical of the series. Many of these scenes between Darius and Reagan involve dialog that is necessary to move the plot, so they are hard to flip past.
The finale and ultimate solution of the world building was interesting and no, I did not see that coming. I am still waffling on my thoughts and feelings and its effect on me. I do really love these characters, and was disappointed that *all* the characters in the world building did not get a satisfying conclusion. I am disappointed in that I feel like there was too much filler and this could have been a duology at the most, and, more adequately, a single book. Typically in a series like this, I like to spread the books out to keep from the feeling of being overdone and just getting tired of the writing style, but did not feel able to do that.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the series, but, ultimately, this could have been better.
Since this is my favorite UF series, was nervous to dig in. Almost 5 stars. A few distractions for the five star rating but still sucked me in. The ending is a little bit of a cliffhanger and not really how Id hoped that would happen, but we'll see what happens next book. Reagan is as fun and great as always, Darius more flat... Charity is more likable in this book but she and her father take up way too much of the book. I like both of them but their decisions drive the book, Charity's quest stays a focus as much as anything with Regan, but I do like how the three women have risen together. There are several shifting points of view, different from previous Reagan led stories. What happened to the vampire controlling demons last book that challenged Regan, though? And the druid feels different from his previous appearances, although I do like him as a character. That ending...uh oh. Full review to come.
E-P-I-C! There is seriously nothing else that needs to be said about this book! I loved it so much I am speechless! This story starts off fast and all of our favorite players are on the scene! Every single one! Things are beyond heated and the battles are on! Then that cliff hanger! Oh my goodness! B-E-S-T book out of every single book from each of these series! I just can’t even with this! The characters are all stronger then they have ever been. The laughs, the snark, the love and the hotness that is Darius! Yes, yes, and yes! EVERYTHING I hoped for and more! My new favorite KF Breene book of all time!
Book 9 was everything I had hoped for and more, Amazing world makes you feel like you are there and can see it. The best characters ever the usual suspects make you though and cry and yell out you can do this.. bring on book 10
The parts of this book written from Reagan's POV were great. The other parts were meh. Charity is BORING. I've never liked that character. And what's with the flopping between 1st and 3rd person POV? That was a bit strange. Plow right through the first few chapters and you will get to the good stuff. By the end, Reagan has met her daddy, setting up book 10. Can't wait for it!
I have already mentioned several times that I am a really big fan of K.F. Breene. The minute I see that she has a new book out - it is pretty much an automatic buy. When I saw this under New Releases, I didn't even think before I clicked both the buy button on Amazon AND the same on Audible. The problem though, was that it took me a little bit of time to figure out in my head what exactly was going on. (I know, I know...I should have remembered, but I've probably read hundreds of books since the last book was out)
In the title, it says it is Book 9 of the series, but that might be a little misleading. Why you ask? Well, because it hasn't exactly been one series but more like several vignettes or trilogies that then ended up tying together in an over arching story arc. (We had Reagan's story for a couple of books, the Penny and Emory's story, then the Fae Princess...Charity? Chastity (?) can't remember at this moment). The brilliant Ms. Breene was busy building a huge story arc that was destined to bring ALL of these factions together to, hmmm (no spoilers right? ) ........ let's just sat there is a LOT going on and it is all leading to something really big.
So - it didn't take me long to get my mind back in this world and I was THRILLED to see that the focus on this book was mainly on Reagan. And, on Reagan and Penny. First, can I say that Penny has come a LONG LONG way since we first met her and the relationship between Penny and Reagan is nothing short of HILARIOUS. I LOVE IT!!! One of my favorite lines in this book is when Reagan yells to Penny, "I knew it. I knew you would grow to like me. See? I'm always right!" Typical Reagan. And all while Penny is trying to figure out whether to deck her or to cry with her and hug her. Unfortunately, this moment happens during a life and death battle situation going on...but that completely showcases their relationship.
My favorite thing was having everyone come back together after having realized that they all need each other. We have Reagan, Darius and his vamps, Roger and the shifters and the Natural Mage duo (Penny and Emory)....who also bring Callie and Dizzy with them. Oh, and I almost forgot Charity (I've decided to go with that name) and her father Romulus and the Fae. So...that is the story set up for the thing that is going to happen.
I did have some moments of frustration with this story, but without going into spoilers, it is not really anything I can give with specifics. Mainly, let's just say that while they kind of had a plan....it was NOT really a plan. Or maybe it would be better to say that they put a lot of faith in a plan that only had the first part figured out and that kind of ended uo being a NOT very good plan.
Also, the thing that happens right before the end made my heart hurt. AND then, the other thing that happened at the VERY end was a definite unexpected surprise. Or, was it? (No spoilers, remember?)
This book leaves us with a cliffhanger. It is not as bad as cliffhangers go, but it does make you think..."uh oh".
I listened to most of this on Audible and while Nicole Poole did an okay job narrating, she has a way of speaking sometimes that can be grating. It sounds like she talks without contractions and she somehow stretches many words out with extra syllables. It can sometimes make the story sound very stilted.
So, now it is time to go back to waiting. The good news is that I think I saw that Book 10 is out later this month (July 2021). Thankfully, that's not too long of a time as far as waiting goes.
By the way they story left off, I have a feeling that things in the next book are going to start off with a bang, a HUGE bang....and honestly...I can not wait!
Revealed in Fire is book 9 in the Demon Days, Vampire Nights World by K.F. Breene. WOW! KF is my MUST HAVE author and this tale has something for everyone, and it will blow you away. It has surpassed even my expectations. It is a brilliant paranormal story that encompasses all the characters from the other books and KF has seamlessly brought them all together. I adore these characters and Reagan is my fav because she just doesn’t give a rat’s ar*e and can’t help herself and Penny as her side kick is magnificent. I laughed till I cried and the looks from others showed they thought I was loopy. OK I am but nothing will stop me from full belly laughs and snorts when I am reading something as good as this. I was engrossed in it from start to finish and then. I have said before with KF’s writing I was able to vividly picture every character and the world building and wordsmithing allowed my imagination to go wild. I stayed up all night reading.
5 stars doesn’t do it justice, it is so much more, and it is paranormal at its best, sign me up each and every time. BRING ON Mentored in Fire for what promises to be an explosive final battle and culmination of it all.
Annnnd we’re back to the original star of this series, Reagan! I actually love how Ms. Breene has been able to explore the other major players in this series by giving them their own books while keeping Reagan and the rest of the gang intimately involved and part of the overall plot. It is time to bring them all together, though, and get the party started (so to speak)!
Sadly this book doesn’t have an ending, however. It just quits right in the middle of the highest point of conflict. I HATE THAT! Total manipulation - something this talented author doesn’t need to do, as all of the previous books had very satisfactory endings while keeping the overall arc flowing. Annoyingly, this one wasn’t the same so be forewarned.
It began with a summons. Then it all went crazy from there. Charity, Penny, and (YES!) Reagan are back. They have a mission to complete but so many things keep getting in the way. If it isn’t demons, it’s crazy fae leaders and elves on a power trip. Come hell or high water they will make it to the final battle though. Unfortunately there is a snag… which you will have to read in order to find out! Such a great book and the characters are (as always) well thought out. The emotion and cadence was riveting. I read this in one go and found it really hard to put down even to cook dinner! I can’t wait for the next one!!!!
It's back! DDVN is back and it's amazing! Reagan, Penny, and Charity have all teamed up as the series begins to head towards a final culmination and the shenanigans are everything I ever hoped for and more! I devoured this book in record time and I have no regrets. I will definitely be sad when this series reaches its final conclusion in just a couple books, but the ride is worth it all! So much excitement, so much action, so much snark and hilarity. This is the series that just keeps on giving!
I love the relationships in this series. The world building is extensive. Readers will smirk at the sass of Reagan and shake their heads. Most of us couldn't get away with that but she has the power and skill to back it up. She has a unique relationship with each character. I can't wait to see what happens next!
This was every bit as amazing as I expected it to be. Intricate plot construction with so many different threads coming together, plenty of action as always, and the absolute joy and hilarity that is Reagan Somerset. I ducking loved it.
Fantastic love this series so much . Can't wait to find out what happens next . Love the humour between Regan and penny . If you like the previous books , you will love this one too .
I honestly didn't think things would turn out as they did. It makes me sad to read about what Reagan went through. I know the next book is the last in the series, so I'm expecting some mayhem and a war with the elves. I know it will turn out good, but I can't wait to read it.
Raegan makes this story awesome! She has the best personality to lift ANY spirit no matter the case. Her knack to irritate the faes who have been compelled to ignore strangers is hilarious. And at the end, when a shell of who she was should have been found, she unexpectedly still has it in her to joke and be sarcastic. Her personality is addicting. Her friendship with Penny is priceless. She causes so much raucous and chaos I couldn’t put the book down. 14 more days until the next book comes out and I can’t wait!
