Everlasting Curse #1

The Broken and Sinned

Rate this book
There is no place for love in a world of vampires who own your soul.

On Riona Dark’s eighteenth birthday, being kidnapped by strangers in the night was not the surprise party she was expecting.
Riona is taken to the hidden world of vampires, a remote island called The Onyx, where being human means you are less than nothing. Riona is soon locked up with other humans and finds out that she will be sold at The Auction.

When two vampire princes, with dark eyes and even darker souls, come to view her and the others, Riona knows the vampires here are just as dangerous as they are gorgeous.
Once sold, Riona is told that her life belongs to the vampires that own her. They will own her soul, mind and body. Resisting means only death.

Riona won’t be sold without a fight, and the only power in The Onyx is blood, desire…and death.

I received this free eARC novel from the author and BookSprout. This is my honest review.

I don't know how G. Bailey does it, but she's a beast when it comes to writing books, and they are all extremely unique and binge worthy. The Broken and Sinned was an amazing vampire novel that sucked me in (hehe) from the beginning and kept me on edge throughout the entire novel.

Riona is one tough chick who can take a paranormal event and try to find ways out of this world she doesn't want any part of. And I know I'm probably not supposed to like Maddox, but the Mad Prince made me fall madly for him and I need more. I'm also intrigued because usually G. Bailey writes RH, but I'm not getting that vibe from this book? Maybe the next book? Or maybe it will just be a FM novel? Either way, I'm down for any of it, but I just know that I need more books after the ending of this one!

Maddox and Reign are fabulous, I love the backstory on why they are the way they are, and seeing vampires, witches and sirens in this world is fascinating. I cannot wait for more, and fans of G. Bailey will love this new series!

DNF @ 15%.

There is not one thing I liked about this book. And maybe that's because it is YA. I guess based off the blurb I assumed (wrongfully so) that it would be more "adultish".

Yeah, it wasn't.

The story was about a stupid teenager making stupid decisions. Half of what was going on didn't make sense.

MC and friend are leaving dorm to go to party. Rich friend forgets phone. Friend goes back for phone. Says:
“Why don’t you drive my car there, and I will grab an Uber.”

WHY WOULD THEY NOT JUST BOTH GO BACK FOR THE FREAKING PHONE. It would take what, an extra two minutes?? WTF.

And let's not forget about this one...
"Clearly, these monsters who took me live on blood, and mine seems to have delighted the guy who bit me. I bet they won’t expect their food to bite back."

This is the first thing she says after being bitten. Please tell me WHY she is not even questioning what is happening and just going with it??

And seriously, I have never rolled my eyes harder than I did at this:
"...it’s a hella big university..."

I couldn't do it. The writing was awful. It's chunky and immature.

The end.

Riona is a bit of a mystery. Her family's past is linked to her unique abilities but she doesn't know details yet. Maddox and Reign are the two trying to win her over in a very dark way at times. That being said, it is a dark romance with murder and a lot of blood involved. Story is steady paced and has a few twists.

The beginning of this story gave Bella Forrest (author of the gender games) vibes and it did not disappoint.

This urban fantasy/ romance fantasy has all of my favorite tropes:
- enemies to lovers
- touch her and die vibes
- vampires
- I’ll burn the world for you
- cursed love story

This series starts off with a bang and I hope it holds up in book two.

DNF: Genuinely don’t understand how this book got 4-5 stars, the writing is awkward and nonsensical at times. The main character Riona is just poorly written, one minute she is claiming she will survive and escape—then literally in the next few pages threatens to kill herself?! And constantly reminds vampires they could kill her, and if they don’t she would kill herself anyway. It’s a bizarre. She constantly calls the ‘Mad Prince’ a monster and threatens to kill him almost every conversation they have—then suddenly she is having the best orgasm of her life because of one kiss and a nipple twist from said monster. I found myself actually laughing at points because of how ridiculous the characters are, it’s shocking I even made it to 67% honestly.

This is new from G. Bailey because she usually writes amazing RH, but this book doesn't seem to be leading that way. Riona is the main heroine and I, personally, don't know if I like her yet. It's a new feeling from me because I usually adore the heroines that G. Bailey writes. But I think this may be due to the fact that this book is a darker theme. You usually get two types of main heroines from dark themes; the heroines that are from the dark and embrace it and the ones that are more in the gray area. Riona is a 'good' girl who being seduced by two bad dudes and is surrounded in a really dark reality after she's kidnapped. I think at this point the reason I don't like Riona is because she's strongly against anything bad but somehow finds herself trying to justify every bad thing that happens in this book. This may because she's special and has a different perspective but for me I'm more of a 'embrace the dark side' kind of reader. So maybe because she kept having moral debates I found myself not liking her? Not sure yet, but I will be reading the next book to see how this character develops!

Overall: 4/5

Okay, how to write about this book without spoiling anything...

Riona's birthday is meant to be a great party day with her twin. Instead the insane happens and she finds herself kidnapped by vampires.

Things go from bad to worse when she resists compulsion. And then two different princes are trying to gain her as their own.

So how much worse can things get? Oh man, can they go crazy. But I won't tell you because that would just spoil the story for you.

Trust me, this is a fabulous intense read, that will keep you up late at night. I know, it kept me up far later and woke me up in the middle of the night to pick back up again. And then....seriously do I really have to wait for book 2?

Patience is not my strong suit.

Highly recommend!

I would be happy to never pick this book up again. Just because you can use the f-bomb, doesn't mean you should overuse it in the most awkward of situations to make a sentence comedic over serious. The plot in and of itself followed this clunky mannerism, and I can't believe I managed to finish this book.

WOW this is one hell of a great dark vampire romance! It’s well written and just sucks you in, in the very first chapter and the world building is just incredible! It’s dark and gory, steamy and sexy and the characters are just awesome! Fast paced and highly addictive and that ending!! OMG!

Fooled by Facebook advertising again.
This book was so inconsistent. Her arm is broken, oh now it’s not. Her ribs are broken, oh now she’s fine. She hates her brothers best friend, oh now he’s family.

Also, who gets bitten on the neck, says they read lots of paranormal stuff, and just automatically guesses the biters are vampires? No one would just casually reach that conclusion.

I watch The Walking Dead. If I saw someone on the street lurching around and trying to bite someone else my first thought would not be zombies.

A little disappointed

Normally I love everything she writes, but this time around, not so much . I actually don't like the MFC. She's defiant but stupid. The character doesn't act right for her situation most of the time and I kept finding myself just annoyed with the character. The plot is good, but for once I am not impressed with some of the most important characters :(

I quite liked this book, even if some parts were predictable at times, there were others that managed to surprise me. I assumed from the first few chapters and the blurb that this was going to be a love triangle situation, but it’s not.

FMC is extremely genre-typical, a seemingly normal human who is abducted and taken to Vampire Island where it is quickly discovered that she mysteriously has the ability to resist vampire compulsion, which leads to the two vampire princes of the island becoming fascinated with her. She has a very bad habit of mouthing off to the vampires, even as they terrify her and kill people left and right.

We are introduced to the two vampire princes, who are foils to one another: the elder brother, Reign, the cold, rational one, smartly dressed and well-coiffed, the one his parents wanted, named to be the future king; and the younger brother, Maddox, the Mad Prince, long-haired and passionate, murderous and unapologetic. His father never wanted him, his mother died

Maddox does everything he can to both woo and horrify the FMC in equal measure, while Reign calmly bargains with her and tries to figure out the other mysteries plaguing the island, all of which seem to revolve around the FMC. Bounced back and forth between passion and boredom, terror and safety, FMC can hardly think straight, let alone figure out who can or can’t be trusted. Mysterious characters keep popping up out of the woodwork, but like a good suicidal FMC, she never follows any good advice, which keeps the plot ticking along quite nicely. Boy, do I wish she would do the smart thing once or twice, though! Honestly, these type of FMCs always have to be virgins because nobody with any experience would allow the D to lead them to their deaths. Hitachi Magic Wands work just as good, honey, I promise you! And they don’t come with a side of blood and gore!

I find myself looking forward to the next part of the series, curious to see how it all ends.

Conclusion, ce roman est juste mauvais… Il ne mérite même pas une étoile à ce stade là.

Riona Dark attends University with her twin brother. She didn't expect to be kidnapped on her twenty-second birthday. Riona discovers a world of witches, vampires and sirens that all use and kill humans for their own desires. She's tough and won't allow her fear to rule her.

Prince Maddox Borealis is known as the Mad Prince and co-rules the vampire island with his older brother Prince Reign Borealis. Maddox was the unwanted second born and was raised in cruelty. Reign was the first born and raised to rule. They have been feuding for the past ten years, and when Riona comes to the island they both want her.

There's something special about Riona and when she is auctioned off the two princes ended up having to share her, alternating every two weeks. One is cruel, one is remote but one of them will slowly capture her heart despite her desire for freedom from Onyx.

The Onyx is the vampire island, where humans are slaves and food and vampires rule all. A hidden magic world filled with blood and death, where humans are routinely kidnapped and killed to serve their needs.

This is only the beginning of Riona's story and by the end you'll wanting to know what happens next. An engaging read, especially if you like your heroine to fall for one of the monsters responsible for her kidnapping.

This story includes scenes that may be difficult for some readers due to violence, abuse and sexual practices. Read at your own discretion.

Nigglies - blurb says she's eighteen but the book says she's twenty-two and other editing/grammar issues."

♦️♦️ONE DECADENT ADVENTURE♦️♦️
Burning britches! Bailey dropped the bomb and lowered the boom, breaking out the heavy artillery and ammo aplenty, blasting this bad boy to staggering heights. Observing the separate struggles and challenging triumphs, showcasing the dangerous twists and deadly turns, putting our characters through their paces propelling this jewel to life brilliantly. Shattered barriers and broken perimeters solidify as restrictions are amplified and enforced, kicking down walls and bringing the heat, exposing the crazed quirks and defying bents, merging this gem together perfectly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity with enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that so rich and lively as though you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Bailey, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

4.5 stars - Whoa! why did I wait so long?

POV: single
HUMOR: some
F BOMBS: yes
CLIFFHANGER: yes
NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: no

Haven't read this author in a while and saw the blurb and thought: "Well this is different for G. Bailey." And after reading this, I'm wondering why I've waited so long to come back to this author. So glad I found this one.

It's definitely different than her other books: dark, gory, violent, and crazy. But it also has similar elements: good world-building, unique characters, steamy scenes, suspense, and mystery. And this strange forbidden love/toxic romance has me rooting for Riona and her favorite vampire.

The repetitive profane language in the beginning of the book threw me off a bit but then it melted away into just plain old good storytelling. Nice touch with the epilogue being told in a different POV. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what makes Riona so different and special - can't wait for the next book.

So to start off I"am a fan of G. bailey have been since last year, she has a way of capturing you in her books to where you cant put the book down till the very last page.Lets dive on in to this book.well rhona is regular collage girl just trying to have a birthday party but before she can make it there she side blinded in to a world wind of mess, and surviving isnt the only thing she finds out she has to do,with secrets poping up about her she didnt even know she had and its not helping when you have two princes playing tug of war with you like 2 dogs with a bone, but you know the saying some secrets are better left alone because what is waiting for her at the end of them are deciet ,lies. and betrayl but its not all bad because she has her own secret that she has been denying and thats a forbidden love.

So I got sucked in this story real quick. So you start off with some mystery and then you start to wonder um do we have crazy family members. Lets meet Riona, who is in college living her life. Then all of sudden we are in survival mode. We find out that the supernatural exists. She ends up on an island and learns about vampires and witches. She finds out that she is being auctioned off. Everyone wants a piece of her. Two of them being Princes. Prince Maddox and Prince Reign, now these two men are just messed up. Not in a bad way but emotional way. She has to split her time with both men. Even though she tells herself not to fall for them and she wants off the island she knows her heart is at risk. Can she trust anyone? Will she be able to find out about her friends and family? Will she escape the island? A lot happens but it is one crazy intense mystery. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

What a frickin ride. This is a take on vampires I have never seen or imagined before. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I think I inhaled the book in a few hours, max. The book is a little dark, but honestly it's not too bad. There's a lot of blood and gore and all that but I've read much darker. G Bailey killed it with this series starter, I am definitely hooked. Prince Maddox is a complete psycho, and I LOVE it. He is dominating, controlling, and insanely protective of Riona. Riona is a human, or is she *wink*, who was kidnapped by vamps and taken to their secret island to be auctioned off. Both princes take an interest in her and win her at the auction. The end has me screaming for book two. Between what Maddox admits, him and his brother going for Riona, and the revelations with Cross, I'm exploding in anticipation. I need it!

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

I wasn't sure what to expect out of this book... I love G Bailey and was excited to see a new series. However, when I read the blurb, I didn't think this book was for me. Anyways, I read the book and loved it so much more than I thought I would.

Riona was kidnapped and taken to this island where the two princes salivate and fight over her. Each in their own way. One seems to be falling for her and the other... Well I am not sure if he is protecting his brother or trying to keep her for himself to hurt his brother. Or maybe he really is falling for her as well. Only time will tell.

Oh Riona, why did you go and do that at the end. You should have followed your heart and not fallen into the trap. I was shocked with the ending, but I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!

Riona when you get a letter on your birthday telling you to not do something and then you do it anyway well you relize what a bad decision that was. Screams, death and blood they are all part of her new world on the Onyx island of Vampires sold and owned now two princes Reign and Maddox want her for different reasons one is dark and called mad the other is kind but dangerous in his own way and even the people she makes friends with could end her. When there so many bad guys creepy children and curses all Riona wants is to return home she can't afford to love a dark prince she must save herself and her friend Arlo even if it puts her in more danger.

Loved it!

I'm so used to G. Bailey writing RH books that when I dived in this one, I thought it would be too. Now that I finished it, I don't think it will be and I don't mind it at all!

I have to say that Riona did get on my nerves sometimes, she was so quick to judge Prince Maddox. Every time she talked to or about him, she would use the word "monster" and it was a bit annoying.
As for Prince Maddox, I loved his character. He has a backstory and even though he doesn't reveal a lot a about him, we understand that for every decision he takes, he has a valid explanation.

When it comes to the story, I really enjoyed it! And I cannot wait to discover more about Riona's nature. Impatient to read book #2!

One of the better Bailey reads

3.5 for me. Not quite a 4 because it seemed just a little fast, and there were a handful of awkward moments that ruined the dark mood, but otherwise I thought the whole aspect of cruelty and monsters was great. It was a little irritating that a certain thing wasn't brought up more but I liked the island in general, the darkness of what occurs. I totally got chills in the first ten chapters, and I felt the first threads of love for the series when our heroine met her friend's eyes on the seller's stage. Like seriously, chicken skin on the inside. It's been a while since I've gotten to anything super harsh or blunt with the sex and death. The book is pretty tame compared, but still, definitely better than the last series I read of hers.
