Well, slap my ass and call me Sally. WTF did I just read?

Y'all know J. Bree is my QUEEN. The Mounts Bay Saga is my mother effing world. I'm an honorary member of the Family (although they don't know it yet). J. Bree can do no wrong...but HOW TF can she still blow my mind???

Holy shit. The Ruthless, to be cliche as hell, was ruthless. Avery was everything. Aodhan was everything. And Atticus? That overprotective, prideful man pissed me off and then broke my heart. That cliffhanger!!!!! (Oh God 😱). Avery grew so much. She was fierce and I loved watching her open up into a more confident woman. That cliffhanger, though!!!! (Aaaahhh)

The plot was FANTASTIC (yea, I'm using a lot of screaming caps because this book deserves it! Lol). I have so many thoughts and feelings and questions. I devoured this book and once again I'm pissed I read it so fast but so dang glad I got to experience it. Seriously, the skill it has to take to keep all the dang characters in order is impressive. Every clue, lead, action, consequence is just...amazing. I was glued to the pages. So many things were going on at the same time that the story just flew by. So. Damn. Good.

Y'all. Read this. So good. 😭

I read this dang book so fast that I’m afraid I’m not gonna be able to write a proper review. Lmao. As soon as my paperback comes (when they go live) I’m definitely going to sit down and read it more slowly. With book one leaving off on a cliffhanger I had to know what the hell was going on so I read this baby in one sitting!

“Atticus has pushed me away every chance, pushed me into Aodhan‘s arms really because my heart was broken and bleeding all over the freaking place when I found him, so to think of him actually wanting me, wanting me enough to risk his position and his standing in the Twelve to get to keep me, it’s unfavorable to me”. - the Queen

Y’all. Aodhan, Atticus, and Avery?! Where do I begin with this trio. So once again in this book it really is mainly Aodhan and Avery establishing their relationship even more. Aodhan knows that Avery is in love with both these boys and he is completely fine with that because he knows the Avery’s love for him is real and genuine.

“You’re everything to me, Queenie. You are the light to my darkness right now. “

With all the drama in Mounts Bay, Aodhan finds himself grieving over a loss.
Avery does her best to be their in the way he needs.
This series is packed filled with drama, a crap ton of mystery, and unknown secrets. I absolutely am obsessed.

Meanwhile, Atticus is being a mysterious little shit head and I really don’t know what to think about him. He is not willing to share Avery yet!
He is literally alpha daddy and I cannot help but just love this guy despite his faults and decisions that he’s made.

“I’ve built my entire business and my life around being what Avery needs to get her out of the Beaumont manner and away from the evils of her family. I’ve never once regretted that decision and I never will. “

Avery has the entire world on her shoulders. She stepping up in the Twelve speaking for The Wolf and a he’s having to make decisions on her own. She is a force to be reckoned with. I also noticed that her OCD has simmered down. It’s obviously still there but these boys have their way of getting her so exhausted that she ends up falling asleep skipping her habits... if you get my drift.

“There is no being around you, Floss, without desperately wanting to keep you. Without falling in love with your savage, ruthless, perfectly poised self. I’ve never met anyone who knows their own mind like you do. You make a choice and then you follow it to the very bitter end, no matter the cost. You were mine from the very beginning. “ - Atticus.

Here’s the thing that I absolutely love about this author. She makes you fall in love with one character while putting another on the back burner. And then the very next book she makes you flip your switch.
I feel like Atticus wasn’t my favorite character in book one. He’s been a shady mother fucker but this book really brings him into the light a teeny tiny bit and then makes us question other characters that we have never had to question before.
This book is really hard to review. A lot happens and they are not standalones. I’m struggling with not giving away spoilers. So I’m just gonna say that I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it left off on a doozy of a cliffhanger. You do see other characters in the book but this is mainly about Avery and the two boys that she fell in love with. One is willing to share her and the other is not. So there is no sexy sharing time.
The relationship is only part of the book. There’s just so much layers of history within this world that the author wrote for us. Reading everything in order would be best. It’s full of murder, and mayhem, and mystery. You just don’t know who is the good guy or who’s the bad guy. And that’s what I absolutely love. This series is not predictable at all. Anything goes!

My rating: 3.5
MC: Avery Beaumont, Aodhan O’Cronin (Stag), Atticus Crawford (Crow)
SC: Ash, Lips, Harley, Blaise, Coyote/Jackson, Viola Ayres, Luca, Jack, Illi, Odie, Lauren, Dummond (Police Chief, Laurens Dad), Amanda Donnelly, Randy Crawford, Holton Crowford, Bingley Crawford
Graves Kids: Grimm (Bio Dad), Colt, Chance, Nate, Poe, Wyatt James (Cop), Noah Ramsden (Dead), Senator Elijah Blakeley, Lips, Grandkids: Kennedy and Carter

I liked the second book of this series much better than the first. There was less Avery-inner-monologe, less let’s talk everything through and less indecision. And the best of all: there was more action. I liked this version of Avery much better than the Book 1 Version. I actually am curious about Atticus but his personality gives me whip lash. One moment he is cold Crow the next, he is dominant Atticus and then he is sweet Atticus. There were moments I hated him. The info for my gr friends: there is more Atticus in this book, present Atticus and past Atticus that is.

There are heartbreaking moments in this book, love, even cute Illi moments. Illi and Odie are the best. Also there was a little more contact, lesser fashion talk (don’t get me wrong, there is this fashion talk about what Avery is wearing) and lesser numbers of showers for Avery (still too many).

This book needs a big cliffhanger warning, as there are many things which are unsolved but mainly four person, who grew on us are involved in the cliffhanger. If I should guess, I would say that Lips and the guys will have some more appearances in the next book.

And if anybody ask why Avery need a three book series: it’s because both books are shorter than the HP ever were. So if you would just push them together, then two of Avery’s books are 1.5 HP books.

Plot Summary :
Avery is back! After that shocking revelation about the man she has always loved, she is forced to run away. Aodhan is the only person who she trusts right now with her family and there is no limit she won't cross to save him.

Things are much more complicated now. The one man she has always loved was her enemy right from the start and she never knew it. But things are much more than what they seem. Everyone has secrets and this time, she won't rest until she has uncovered them all. She is Avery Beaumont after all. One member of the twelve and she was never one to let other men walk over her.

Overall Opinion :
I have been going crazy about this book!! After that ending of the first book and that major shock, I knew this one would be a crazy ride. And yupp it was! Avery, Aodhan and Atticus have an amazing story full of so many twists and turns. Something big is at play here and they all won't stop until they uncover it all!

There is nothing Avery values more than her family and now they all were in danger.

I am so hooked in this world!! Avery and her men are now my whole world and the one thing I liked more than reading about them was reading about the previous books characters! Lips is definitely my favorite heroine and I loved seeing her in this series.

A must read for all the dark romance lovers out there! If you love a kickass heroine who doesn't need men to save her but yet she has a few whom she loves and respects and the same goes for the men, then definitely pick up this series! This author is so amazing that she'll hook you in her world in just a few chapters and before you know it, you'll be pulling an all nighter to complete the whole damn book!!

This whole world that has been created grips you from the very beginning.

One click thissssss
When I first picked up Hannaford Prep I had no idea how addicted I would become to this world. Fast forward 8 books and we finally get to know more about the flawless Avery Beaumont. There is no slowly getting you prepped for this book. From the first few chapters you’re thrown into the perfection of this world. I’m loving seeing the caring and brotherly side to The Butcher, learning how far The Crow has always been willing to go for Avery and swooning at Aodhan and the way he’s slowly working his way into our Queens affections and ours.
There were definitely a few surprises along the way, but as always the writing was amazing. Since this is book two of a trilogy there was always going to be an epic ending, and I’m not at all disappointed with being left on another cliffhanger because whatever happens next I’m sure will be amazing.

What the hell.

The Ruthless is the second installment of the queen crow series. I'm loving Avery being in charge of things when the Wolf is out of town. Don't underestimate her though because she's a little baddie. She can definitely take care of herself, but it doesn't hurt that she's under the Wolf's protection either. Mostly because the Wolf scares the living shit out of people.

As for the romance brewing between her, Aodhan, and Atticus. Well, it was good. I love her and Aodhan together. They just seem to have this special connection and communication. As for Atticus, the tension is clearly there but he's stubborn.

The games are still confusing to me, but they scare me more than anything. Betrayal comes way too easy with the Twelve. So, I wasn't expecting everything to be okay throughout the entire book. Nope. Bloodshed and everything else came my way. I'm very intrigued to see what's going to happen in the next book.

Especially since I think the Wolf and her boys are back in town.

4.5✨ devoured again. couldn’t put it down. read it in one sitting.

absolutely loved how the storyline continued and how things changed and evolved with atticus to a whole nother level. getting his words and his thoughts was truly everything. but then he pisses me off saying things but then he kills [redacted]. and then THAT happens.

aodhan is still an absolute dream. he’s just the sweetest and the most understanding of avery's feelings, trauma, wants, everything. i felt for him so deeply in this one and this man just kept pulling through through it all. he really is perfect for her.

avery is such a fucking queen (pun not intended). she possesses such a determination. not to cower, not to beg, not to appear weak, not to be underestimated. she came through for her damn self in this one and impressed tf out of everyone, herself included.

fuck there was so much happening. my emotions were all over the place. the ending on the edge of a cliff, again. the stress was stressing, that’s for damn sure.

“She owns every part of my past, present, and future.”

“There is no being around you, Floss, without desperately wanting to keep you. Without falling in love with your savage, ruthless, perfectly poised self. I’ve never met anyone who knows their own mind like you do. You make a choice and then you follow it to the very bitter end, no matter the cost. You were mine from the very beginning.”

“This is nothing. It’s not even close to what I would pay, give, steal, and slaughter to keep you safe.”

“You’re everything to me, Queenie. You’re the light in my darkness right now.”

“I love you. I’ve loved you since I was nine years […] I’ve loved you through middle school and high school. I waited for you to notice me and love me back. I’ve loved you for as long as I’ve been breathing and I will love you long after I stop.“

There is something about Avery's books that read like filler novels. I can see where she is building a reputation and branching out on her own but it's really just positioning, which I guess, is her thing right?

Somehow, Avery is the calmer of the crew. Even when faced with impossible odds. It could be a lifetime playing cat and mouse with a serial killer but she certainly behaves differently under pressure.

I sometimes missed them being in high school because I understood the pyramid there. Out here, it's harder to believe their positioning and how Mounties are so accommodating to them basically taking over the Bay.

I love Aodhan and I love him and Avery together. If we are to get into this polyamory lifestyle then at some point, we (which could only be me) needs to feel that connection to Atticus as well. As is, Aodhan is perfection. Even Avery says it!

As for direction, at this point, I am just here for the ride. This seems like those long-haul series that tells you that each can be read as a standalone but it's pretty obvious that The Hannaford Prep series, Queen Crow and the Unseen MC books will have crossovers. By the end of this book, we solved how the President and other members of the Unseen MC got out of prison. Who I did miss was Nate and I think even his series, if he gets one, will be interconnected.

As for the sex, I preferred her with Aodhan. But neither is anything to write home about. However, I will give the one up to the Irishman because having a connection makes a difference and I feel that between them. They are partners in more than bed and Atticus is starting to feel like a teenage crush.

Naturally, a lot more happened this time. New characters, the loss of characters we love and hate. However, in the end, I remembered why I prefer completed series because that cliffhanger certainly did its job.

"That’s the real truth of the Bay, Avery. You’re a god here until you’re not, and now you have the power, everyone is going to try to take it from you"

The Ruthless is book 2 in the Queen Crow series which takes place in the amazing Mounts Bay universe that J Bree has created. It's no secret that I'm a crazy fan of J Bree's and I will devour anything she writes.

This story takes place immediately where book 1 ends, and so to avoid any spoilers I wont say much about the plot. It's dark, gritty, sad, and hot all wrapped up in one book. Avery is ruthless as ever, but she's done letting the men in her life do all the saving. I absolutely ADORE Aodhan, he is just so perfect and he would literally do anything for Avery. I have a love/hate relationship with Atticus and I was starting to come around to him in this book! We also get some of our favourite characters mixed in - Illi, Odie, Lips and her boys, Jackson... I love the whole family!

Anyways, if you haven't started Queen Crow yet, do it now!

I can't even think straight after finishing this book. It was everything you expect from J Bree, amplified. What does that mean? Your heart will race, your heart will soar, your panties will melt, and your heart will get ripped out and stomped on over and over again. And you'll be left wanting more because this world, these characters, and their lives are just so rich and engrossing. I want to move to Mounts Bay, minus all the murder and crime and stabbings and dead bodies. So really, I just want Avery to bake for me and Illi to teach me how to slaughter a pig. Or person. Whatever works!

I didn't think I could love Avery more, but girlfriend grew some fangs. She's showing everyone that she can run the Wolf's empire, take Lips's role in The Games, and is just as dangerous as any member of The Twelve. Aodhan, Atticus, Jackson, and Illi are by her side while Lips and the boys are on tour. To give away any aspects of the story would rob you of the wild, heart-pounding ride. There is, of course, a huge cliffhanger and I was left screaming at the end. This may be my favorite Mounts Bay book outside of Hannaford Prep - and is definitely up there with Make Your Move.

Where am I supposed to start with this review. This book was everything I knew it could be and more, in short it was EPIC!! It pulled me in from the prologue and spat me out at the end. Ruthless by name Ruthless by nature.

As you know The Ruthless is book 2 in The Queen Crow series, it picks up right from where All Hail ended, in the basement of mystery. So much happens in this book, you'll be kept on your toes for sure. The bond between Illi and Avery is still as strong as ever and I loved seeing them together, the relationship growth between Aodhan and Avery was beautiful to see (even if I don't like him lol). I'm a massive Atticus lover and everything he's ever done has been done for Avery and that has me swooning. J Bree has me feeling so many things from excitement to heartbreak to absolute rage. I can't wait to see how everything goes in book 3. I NEED ANSWERS!!!!

What- what- what did I just read? It was really really good and the ending still has me with my jaw on the floor.

I love Aodhan, he’s my baby, I just adore him and the way he loves Avery. I don’t love love Atticus but I don’t dislike him, I’m getting there, I’m getting to love him slowly. Avery is my absolute fierce queen and I love her!

This book made me cry, when Jack died I absolutely cried and when Avery and Aodhan confessed their love for each other I also absolutely cried.

I didn’t cry when Atticus was shot but I did get emotional when Avery told him all her feelings when he was practically dying. Overall I really enjoyed the book and I didn’t expect half the things that happened in it.

Well im gonna go and read the next one because the cliffhanger is killing me. Bye! 👋🏽

“Nothing better than a woman getting the respect she deserves, her hands dripping with the blood she shed to get it.”

This whole story is so unique, intriguing and so well plotted out... I have no coherent words, only dying whale noises for this review.

One of the things I loved the most in this book were all the little feminism speeches and how well placed they were. Especially when it came from the Butcher or Aodhan.

I love them so much and reading about alpha men respecting and protecting women and children is such a breath of fresh air when it comes to the dark romance sub-genre.

I’m so in love with Queenie, she’s an amazing main character and her evolution through out both series has been so flawlessly done so far.

Aodhan only got better and better with each scene, but he never felt too good to be true or anything like that. He and Queenie are just so incredible together, their chemistry off the charts good.

Atticus, on the other hand, didn’t manage to win me over. After all the pain and heartache he made Queenie go through, not even a bullet to the chest was enough redemption for me. And their sex scene left me quite uncomfortable. They weren’t in the right place as a couple to get to intimate the way he made her to. I wasn’t a fan of “don’t speak, don’t move, just take whatever I give you” coming from a dude who’s been lying and controlling her for years, before they could even have a conversation about it. I don’t know, it felt weird to me, not hot.

I’m worried the third book is going to leave a lot of unanswered questions for future books, but that only means more reading time in Mount Bay, so I won’t complain for now... lol

I struggle a bit with Avery’s books. I usually like it more if books focus on the characters and their relationships, and I love a health side dish of drama and crime. But Avery’s books… idk. She’s with Aodhan since the beginning of book 1, and we all can agree that he’s the best thing that could have happened to her - he’s just the right mix of playful, bossy, respectful, sweet and hard. Atticus/the Crow on the other hand - even with all the flashbacks and with being told how much she loved him - I don’t get it. It’s like a teenage crush she’s not able to let go. And his unwillingness to share her, even though he knows how she feels about Aodhan - it doesn’t make me want to like him more.

There’s a lot of „Twelve“ politics, and while it didn’t catch my interest for quite a while, at the end I cheered for the way Avery handled herself (btw: is it just me who found it confusing to have a „boar“ and a „bear“? I kind of mixed them up in my head…)

The cliffhanger made me download the last book as soon as I finished this one, and I’m looking forward to finally having the Hannaford-gang back together!

I don’t have a huge amount to say about this book, which kind of makes me sad.

I feel like I have to start by saying that Hannaford Prep is one of my all-time favourite series. It's an ultimate comfort read; I love Lips and all the characters—basically, a mounty girl at heart.

But... I wanted Avery to have her moment in the Queen Crow series, and I'm just not getting that yet. This series does not stand up on its own. You have to have read Hannaford Prep first - because even though they’re not there, Lips and her boys are mentioned all the time.

Don’t get me wrong, this is still a great story and a good continuation of where HP ends - but I’m still waiting to see an independent badass Avery come into her element. We see glimpses of it here and there, but imo there’s too much time spent in this book still worshipping Lips - and we already had five books of that.

Love seeing more from this would, finding out how The Family got built but this felt like half a book. It started off straight from the first book, didn't built to a climax or conclusion and is wholly dependent on book 3 to resolve.
Also, the series continues with the same theme of "strong badass women that take charge but don't take care of shit and it comes back to bite them in the ass." Twice in the book, 2 known problem characters causing situations and literally nothing done to mitigate it - and then it causes heartbreak and issues. As a plot device, it tends to invalidate some of the strength of the characters.
I'm looking forward to book 3 and would probably rate the series overall as 4-4.5*, but as a standalone book it's solidly 2.5*, rounded up to 3*

"You really haven't learned, have you? There isn't an opening for power here, no gaps to be filled or businesses to take over. There's just the Wolf of Mounts Bay, and the Family who back her."

* * * * *

BOW DOWN TO THE MOTHERFKN QUEEN, because she's done it again. J Bree and Avery, any which way you spin the board, the Queen has made her move and delivered unto us another utter masterpiece.

Avery's second chapter has left me desperately scrambling to pick up the pieces of my heart left behind in the wreckage of The Ruthless. What do I do now? What just happened?!

We begin where All Hail ended, with our ruthless Queenie staring down the faces of everyone she's ever loved - on a murder board, in a dingy, secret basement, with a starving man caged in his own filth mere feet away. Nothing is ever what it seems in the Bay though, is it?

Our fierce queen finds herself torn as the lines between love and loyalty shift and strain - falling in love with a man she was never meant to meet, letting go of the man she's loved nearly her whole life, and protecting the man who has unconditionally loved and shielded her since the day they were born - all while snakes strike and blood flows like rivers into the Bay. With more at stake than ever before, the Game must begin, and one wrong move could cost Avery, cost the Family, everything.

J Bree has left me feeling raw and exposed, broken and conflicted with just the faintest glimmering hints of hope to string us along as we teeter off the edge of madness here. My head and heart are swirling with questions and trying to grasp the threads of the web she's woven so deftly around us and I can't seem to catch my breath.

If you love powerful, vulnerable and fiercely devoted characters willing to do whatever it takes to protect their family, to the end, you will not want to miss Avery, Aodhan and Atticus in The Queen Crow Trilogy. Their journey will suck you into the twisted depths of the Bay and leave you gasping for air as you're broken apart by the crash of their struggles, and put back together again into something beautiful and new, fragile yet ferocious as their story winds around you.

Utterly breathtaking and fantastic.

You don’t mess with Queenie’s family

The Ruthless left me speechless but with so many emotions! I didn’t know if I wanted to scream, cry, or throw a fit haha but to be fair there was a pretty large cliff hanger we got left with in the book. I loved every single minute though, J Bree sure knows how to grab you by the heart and reel you in while playing mind games on you. I must be a sucker for torture because I love it, I just need book 3 Queen Crow ASAP please!

If you’ve read book 1 All Hail, then you’ve met Avery Atticus Aodhan and the many side characters (some that have their own book while some I would love to see thrown off a bridge). Avery is the ruthless fierce and loyal queen of a quickly growing empire. Aodhan is the stag, caring and strong who can keep you grounded and safe while not making you feel suffocated. Atticus is the crow, powerful and sharp while possessive and loving to the point of an obsession but because of that deep love he’s obsessed in the best way.

Avery has her chess board with so many moving parts but there’s new players and pieces joining. She’s not one to mess with though, others should be afraid if Avery Beaumont has her eyes on you. I love that about her! She might not do the physical dirty work herself, if she can avoid it, but she knows everything about you and if not she will soon and will take you down before you can think twice

Now, a lot happens in this book! So much and the cliffhanger is pretty epic so I for sure will recommend this series but just be warned you might want to throw your kindle at the wall like I wanted to. The ride though is worth it and I love seeing Avery with her men and her family. She was able to stand on her own two feet and show she’s not just a pretty face in these books for anyone who thought differently. Her story isn’t over and will continue in book 3, Queen Crow.

I appreciate that I say this with every J. Bree book I read, but I genuinely don’t think that there is a book she could write that wouldn’t be absolutely phenomenal and leave me desperate for more. That’s just the type of story teller/writer that she is.

This book is no exception to that, I was hooked from the prologue and had to just keep reading. I had to know what was coming but at the same time, didn’t expect half of it.

I genuinely spent the book absolutely SWOONING over Aodhan. Swooning. That man and his absolute adoration of Avery is just everything. It’s everything she deserves in a man and I am so glad she has found it in him.

I can’t talk about Atticus right now.

That ending though. That mother fudging ending. I can’t have been the only one swiping at my kindle for more?! 🤯🤯

Bring on book 3. I need it. Desperately.

Bravo J. Bree. This is perfection 🤍

I am loving this series, I am more obsessed with Avery than I was before. She is finally getting to stand on her own and she’s taking on Mounts Bay and eventually the world as we all knew she would.

Aodhan is still my preferred guy. Im in love with him, he’s the perfect counterpart for Avery and the word so well together. Atticus is getting better but Im still not sold. I need more to happen in book three to finally be on board for him. Aodhan is family without a doubt.

That cliffhanger has me anxious for the next book. I expected a cliffhanger but not that one so I’m hoping for the best at this point.

■ Dark romance
■ Childhood crush
■ Organised crime
■ Why choose
■ Trauma bonding

This series has me in a chokehold. I loved Hannaford Prep but I think I love this series even more. Avery is fcking amazing.

Starting book three RIGHT NOW because I need to know what happens next !!!!!

“She’s a raging fucking psycho. We should definitely bring her on board.”

This had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I thought I would know what's happening and who's responsible, but I did not 🫣 And once again these cliffhangers do not play!

The ending of this one took me completely by surprise. Not because something shocking happens but because it kind of came out of nowhere. I am glad at least lives are not hanging in the balance this time around. The action ramped up a bit in this one as did the push and pull between Avery and Atticus. Where Aodhan is concerned things with Avery are pretty solid. The two communicate and have finally admitted their feelings towards one another. Atticus however remains stubborn especially when it comes to sharing Avery but she’s determined she can convince him and snag both her guys.

Opening seats in the The Twelve have everyone up in arms as they all seek to have their own people win. Fights are to the death and it’s crazy to imagine this as something Lips had gone through as a child. She really did earn her place and even though Avery is not necessarily physically badass she can still hold her own. Avery is certainly scary when she uses her contacts and connections. With those she considers family being threatened everyone needs to be wary of her, I feel like she’s still not reached her breaking point and it’s going to be scary when she does. I enjoyed this book, it was a super quick read.

I have been sitting here staring at my screen for at least 10 minutes now. I am at a loss for words. I literally just finished my ARC of The Ruthless (because Laura is the best😘), which took me 4 hours to get through. I waited 4 months for this book, only to consume it in just 4 hours. That’s the power that The Ruthless Queen J. Bree has. Her words suck you in from the first chapter. The rhythm of the story, the character build up, and just all the emotions keep you flipping through page after page craving more until you get to that last one, only to screech in horror at 12 in the morning when you realize, it’s the last fricken page!! The last page! So you flip back to the previous page and try again, but nothings changed!! There’s no more after that. And now you have no choice but to wait several more months for your next new fix.

Despite all my dramatics, this book was worth every single second and I would love nothing more than to be able to experience this story for the first time again. To witness Avery gaining more confidence in herself and learning to stand on her own feet. To see her relationship with her family growing and evolving throughout the book. To laugh and to cry with the characters once again as they fight to survive the world of Mounts Bay. I would absolutely do it all over again without hesitation. This story had me hooked from the very start and from then the chapters just bled in to the next one so perfectly. I also truly enjoyed the glimpses into the past that we hadn’t ever seen before.

So for the next 4 months (or however long it takes for the next book, I’ll gladly wait!), I’ll bide my time by taking a step into the past as well. By going back to read once again the entirety of J. Bree’s collection. I’m sure I’ll have done it a few times over by the time Queen Crow comes out because I will NEVER tire of these stories and they never fail to pull me in. It’s as I said, that’s the absolute power of The Ruthless Queen J. Bree.

I am....speechless at that ending!! WHAT just happened. I am stressed.

The second installment of Avery's story was even better than the first, if that's possible. I loved Avery in Hannaford Prep, but it has been so cool to watch her grow on her own without Ash and Lips; Avery was always strong--now she's just stronger.

**Spoilers!!**

Gah, where do I even begin!?
Aodhan is very much working his way to the top of my list of favorites (much like Avery's); he just loves her so well and is exactly what she needs. He understands what she needs in almost every scenario and doesn't shy away from anything. He's 100% Ride or Die and I just love that for her. My heart broke a bit in the book towards the end with the second round of the Game, and that part is still a bit unresolved (need book three now!!!), but the way they instinctively know what the other needs is so sweet.

Atticus Crawford, man. I like him? I think? I definitely like him more now than I used to and I feel like the way this book ends, it would be awful to be like "nah, he still sucks" but there is just so much unresolved shit they still need to work through. I think that's the beauty of Bree's writing because my emotions surrounding Atticus and Avery are reminiscent of how Avery feels and the way she talks about it in the book. She loves him, but it's complicated.

Getting into Avery's head and seeing the way her brilliant mind works has been awesome. She's such an evil genius in Hannaford Prep, but we get no context or explanation so this has been a real treat. I honestly love her power moves. She's this gorgeous billionaire daughter or a psychopath who literally has zero qualms destroying anyone who harms her family, and she'll do it dressed in impeccable Chanel.

This book is gritty, heartbreaking, and dramatic. I laughed and teared up and got mad. It's SUCH a good read!!

Just finished this masterpiece late last night and now I am currently nursing the worse book hangover ever. I am dying, The Ruthless was so good. It picks up right where we left off at in the first book All Hail and honestly, I liked All Hail but I LOVED The Ruthless. Avery is quickly becoming who she is meant to be. Without her brother and most of the family physically by her side she is left to stand on her own and is finding how amazing she is and what she is meant to be. Her love for Aodhan is beautiful, amazing and I just love the Stag. Atticus I was ready to write him off but he was saved by his flashback chapters and some of his actions at the end of the book, even though in the past I always hoped things would turn around with him, but he yet again is up on my list of favorites for Avery.

There is so much that happens in this story so many little and big things that are weaved together that makes this story a complete page turner. Between back stories, Illie + Odie, Luca, Lips and the guys, learning more about Avery and her past, Aodhan and Jack, Atticus, and even Jacksons small appearances it's so well written and so good. I can not wait for more.

I do recommend that if it's been awhile since you read All Hail that you do a reread before starting The Ruthless. A few times it took me a second to remember who some new characters are or past events from All Hail but it all came back quickly.

I gave this book 5 stars because:
Complete page turner keeping me up way too late
Editing was great (I only found one mistake)
Well written and a great story
