Special Agent Jame Bradshaw has five dead senators on her hands...and a pack of trouble between her claws.
As the newest team leader for the Paranormal Crimes Division, this feisty shifter is smack in the middle of a political hornet’s nest waiting to implode. With the mass murder at the Capitol building and the city under a red alert, paranoia spreads like wildfire. She must solve this mystery before the higher-ups call for her head.
When former vampire vigilante and newly minted PCD agent, Drake, shows up to the scene, the case heats up and so does the tension.
Fighting off the charms of a lethal hundred-and-fifty-year-old vamp may prove Jame’s final undoing...in the most delicious ways. But if this alpha shifter doesn’t learn to let down her defenses and channel the passion into a true partnership, she’ll risk losing more than her badge.
“A combination of flirtatious banter, sizzling chemistry, and edge-of-your-seat storytelling make this a sure bet.” - Publishers Weekly Starred Review

Drake and Jame are great together, he waited so long for her but never gave up. They work well together, and I loved his banter with her, he was very funny. Loved the story line and twists and turns, and didn't see the identity of the phage Queen coming, can't wait for next episode
Wow! Tina Moss sure gives you a book that grabs your attention! I Loved it!
Jame Bradshaw is the newly appointed Team Leader and it’s not going exactly as she hoped. And now the Vampire Drake who saved her is now her newest member of the PCD and lets just say that her attention is now divided between her case and her feelings for her new agent! She now has the extra distraction of having to call a Code Red (the highest threat level) and she’ll have to figure out how high this case goes up in the PCD! And now everyone is getting paranoid trying to figure out who’s friend and who’s foe! I can’t wait to see what Tina Moss comes up with for the next book! This is one book I LOVED to read and as I like to say the Wait Torture for the next book I’m positive will be worth the wait! Thank you Tina Moss for writing such great books that I can’t wait to get my hands on!
Shifter and Special Agent Jame Bradshaw is the newest team leader for the Paranormal Crimes Division. She is dealing with a situation involving a mass murder in the Capitol building which has put the city on red alert and the urgency for her to solve this case quickly is immense. Vampire Drake is 150 years old and was a vigilante but is now a new PCD agent. On his arrival, the case heats up as does the sexual tension between them. Trying to find out if there is a traitor in the PCD she also has to call a Code Red (the highest level) as they battle to find out who is behind the murders. Jame has another battle going on in the background - she needs to let down her defences and use the passion between her and Drake into a true partnership before she loses far more than just her badge. Can they work it all out?
I loved this story which had multiple story streams all running in parallel and weaving in and out of each other. I loved the underlying attraction between Jame and Drake which thankfully was resolved in this book (it started in the previous book when Drake had rescued her). It's certainly building up and I just wonder how it is going to twist and turn in the next instalment of this story. Well written and easy to read and understand. I don't think you absolutely have to read the previous book in the series although it will help you to understand some of the characters and dynamics between them. Contains some explicit sexual content.
What an awesome read. It is exciting, emotional, hot, suspenseful, surprising and so much more. It definitely catches your attention and keeps it. They are working together on a major thing and have a hot chemistry for each other. Well written and recommended. I received a review copy from book origin and voluntarily review it.
2.5 starts. Some parts were just ok, some I liked.
I received a copy for free in exchange for an honest review. When I requested the book, I did not realize it was second in a series. The story is standalone, but naturally, there is a lot of back story and world building missing, so I would recommend starting with the first book.
Let's start with what I liked. I think the world that is created in these books is interesting. It has some of the traditional supernatural aspects, and some new ones. It's well done.
The plot was engaging and pretty fast paced. There were a few times I felt like the team didn't catch on quick enough, or that they reacted differently than I expected them too, but all in all it was a good story.
And now the parts that I am just ok with: The characters felt a little flat. I know that may be because I missed back story, but they were all missing some dimension. In some ways, I feel that they were all designed to fill a specific role and that they didn't stray far from the (almost) stereotype.
As I reader, I prefer a show, not tell, style of writing. Red Alert, for me, was a little to much telling. I didn't feel the emotions or the struggles, even when they were described to me. So much of the character's personalities are there instincts, and it was frustrating to read time and time again that something was bothering them, but not not actually feel that in the writing.
Although I struggled with parts of the book, I still think that it was an interesting story and would recommend for anyone that likes a good mystery with a side of steam.
This KU library selection is the second book in the series and features Jame and Drake, introduced in book one. Jame has been promoted to be lead of her own team and is assigned to Washington where a Code Black is called. Fighting her attraction to Drake, a vampire, Jame, a cat shifter, must solve the case of five dead senators and a dead phage liaison. As with book one, there are several minor grammatical issues and a cliffie teaser for the next book, which isn't out yet.
I loved this well written PNR read it has well developed and engaging characters that have chemistry throughout the pages. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout the pages.
I received a copy and am voluntary leaving my honest review.

I liked the mystery and intrigue along with having such a variety of paranormal characters. I felt lost in parts having missed backstory in the first book.
